Cʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ 10 | Tʜᴇ Cᴏɴsᴛᴇʀɴᴀᴛɪᴏɴ
"You are just one of those selfish bitch who gets whatever she wants and has wrapped everyone around her fingers." The girls spat on me and the boys were standing there smirking while I was shaking with fear in a corner.
The place smells like rotten cockroaches.
No matter how much brave I am, but at this point I was weakest among all.
"Please don't do this. Leave me. I won't tell anyone about this." I sobbed.
"Oh shut up bitch! This is just the start. We are getting far more ahead." One of the boy stated angrily.
Soon all of them started punching, kicking and torturing me as if I was a punching bag.
"St-op. Ple-ase sto-p." I sobbed, but no one paid attention.
I kept on screaming.
Screaming.
Again.
This happens regularly around midnights.
I am scared.
But still I am not crying.
There isn't a single tear in my eyes.
Fear just exists in our minds. But for me fear of getting broken is present at every place in my body. My soul has no tears left within. It's the same as it was 8 years ago that night. No change in myself and would never be.
I am stuck in the memories of us.
I am stuck in the air of foregone love.
I am stuck in loneliness.
I don't want to wake up. It's always like if I do I'll be sad again. Every other night its me waking up shaking with the nightmares. Someone's shadow leaving me all alone in all the mess.
But,
I miss the old me.
Happy me.
Bright me.
Smiling me.
The gone me.
And the person who caused all this was living like a prince all these years while I was going through shi
t.
The same person who promised me to keep me happy forever with him by my side.
But then again it was all lies.
Flashback:
"So this is how we solve polynomials when either of the two solutions is given." Mr. Sharma announced as we were currently having our maths class.
The sound of our principal in class room speakers awakened me from my slumber of thoughts "All the senior students are requested to gather in the school auditorium on ground floor as today we have a seminar by foreign delegates regarding career choices."
"Aarrgghh! Not again. We just had a seminar regarding the same a week before." I whined.
"We did and they said they'll conduct another session if you remember." Ahaan said.
"They did?" I asked raising my eyebrows.
"Yup, when you were sleeping on my shoulder." He replied.
"Hey! I was tired okay. I studied late the previous night." I pouted.
"I didn't say anything." He raised his hands in surrender.
"Good." And I patted his head.
He just chuckled at me.
I noticed that the class was already empty meaning all the students had left for the auditorium. Even Sarah wasn't present today, but Ahaan is always there for a company and I am glad he is.
Sometimes it's like we keep on conversing and still we don't want to stop. To be honest, I don't want him to talk with any other girl. Many at times when other girls come forward to talk with Ahaan, it's like I want to snap and shoo them away. I know what it means.
I like Ahaan.
I do very much.
It started when he stood up for me on sports day. From then onwards, I looked at him with a different perspective.
Strong.
Smart.
Caring.
And that's what I liked about him.
But then there's one problem. I don't know if he feels the same. Many times I just want to tell him that I like him and this will make him stay from other girls. But at the same time I start thinking that what if he doesn't feel the same and rejects me?
I don't really want to go through all of this.
What should I do with my feelings?
"Kyra."
"Kyra."
"Kyra!" Someone shouted.
"Ahhh. What the heck Ahaan? Why are you shouting?" I frowned while rubbing my ears.
"I was calling your name from the past 5 minutes and you weren't replying me. Lost in your own world." He replied.
"Still you needn't shout." I said.
"Okay princess. Now shall we get going? We are already late." He bowed in front of me.
Princess? Did he just call me princess?
Oh My God.
I am dead.
The word sounded so strange yet so soothing from his mouth.
"Okay." I replied trying to control my emotions at its best.
Reaching the school auditorium, I heard some noises from inside and it felt like the seminar had already started. I never knew we were this late.
"Looks like we're late." Ahaan said.
"Yeah. And if we go in right now they'll surely scold us." I said shrugging.
"It's alright. We can just skip it. It wasn't even interesting the last time." He himself shrugged.
"Are you sure? What if someone sees us? And what about Dhruv?" I asked thinking.
"Don't worry. I have a place in my mind where nobody will see us." He replied, smiling.
I beamed at him.
"Thank god. I so badly wanted to skip this seminar and here we are going to do the same." I said excitedly.
"Come on then." He said and took my hand in his.
The place which he told me about was an abandoned building. Rumours has it that it was once our school's old wing. I myself got to know about this through some girls and have never paid attention to it. But Ahaan surely has.
"This place is so spooky yet so calm." I commented as we entered it.
"Yeah. I thought the same when I got here for the first time." He replied.
"Come on let's go sit there." I pointed in a direction where it was surrounded by trees.
It looked so beautiful.
"This is so serene. Thank you Ahaan for bringing me here." I said honestly looking in his eyes.
"My pleasure." He replied chuckling a little.
"Ahaan let's go there. I am sure the view is great from the top of it." I pointed at a small valley in the corner of building.
"No Kyra. It's not safe. What if you fall?" He reasoned.
"I won't. You will also be there beside me so nothing is going to happen. Please." I pouted.
"You know I am never able to resist your pout." He said.
I laughed at him.
"Come on then." He said and we headed in the direction of it.

"Kyra, I told you not to step on this, but you still did. Now see you have fallen and hurted yourself." Ahaan scolded me.
"I didn't know it would result in me falling. And don't scold me. I don't like seeing you this way." I replied furrowing my eyebrows.
"Alright, alright. Now here, give me your hand." He said, forwarding his hand towards me.
I reached for his hand and he started pulling me upwards. Halfway through I started losing my balance again which made me fall again and resulted Ahaan on top of me.
"Aaahhh." I screamed.
"Dang!" Ahaan exclaimed.
Opening my eyes I saw Ahaan looking intently at me. His gaze made me squirm under him.
Realizing this position he rolled us over which made me on top of Ahaan, where he was holding me securely.
"Ahaan." I whispered.
He looked so handsome right now. His tanned complexion, lean muscles, long eyelashes and Oh god his lips. I just wanted to feel them once if possible.
"Shh." He whispered placing his finger on my lips.
He then leaned forward where his lips were just 2 inches away from mine. Looking at me expectantly, I knew he was waiting for my consent. Such a gentleman, but I wanted to take this chance. So I merely nodded my head and not waiting for any other second, he placed his lips on mine.
Our lips tangled in each other, wanting to have other's taste. He tried to have more access to my mouth, but I denied him. In reaction he growled loud enough for me to hear which made me gasp. Taking this opportunity, he pushed his tongue inside my mouth where we both were fighting for dominance.
But I couldn't overpower him and unfortunately he won. We kept on kissing. It was like we both had forgotten about our surroundings, all the worries or the dramas. It was just two of us in the moment. The feeling was so overwhelming.
After the kiss he put his forehead on mine and whispered "Damn."
His reaction made me chuckle.
But soon I realized what I actually did just right now.
Kiss?
How could I kiss a guy who is basically my class partner?
Or a new friend to be precise.
I looked at him ashamed of myself and at that moment I could only do one thing that was best for me.
I ran.
I ran away from the abandoned building to our school's one, but I could clearly hear Ahaan shouting for my name in the distance, but it kept on fading away eventually.
I hate myself right now. I couldn't seriously control my hormones on bay. What if Dhruv gets to know about this? He'll surely make my life a living hell.
The thing which I didn't want to happen in mine and Ahaan's friendship has involuntarily happened.
I think I have lost my new friend because of my stupidity.
Flashback ends.

I was finding a way to cover my dark circles as I couldn't sleep properly last night again. My regular concealer couldn't hide those properly and that's why I decided on another product.
Applying it I realized that it is way better than the last one. This will definitely work for the day.
Reaching downstairs the first thing I noticed was that Dad was sitting in the living room with Dhruv and Mom. I haven't seen Dad since 3 days as I got to know he's busy in my 'wedding preparations' with Ahaan's Dad.
"Dad!" I shouted excitedly.
"How is my daughter?" He asked motioning me to come towards him.
"I am angry at you. You didn't even sit with me once in past 3 days. It was only you who said that we're going to spend as much time as possible with each other." I said hugging him.
"I was looking out for your wedding Kyra. You know very well that from the beginning I want your wedding to be perfect. And I am going to fulfill that wish of mine even if it costs spends less time with you." He said.
"Dhruv can also do these things." I pointed out.
"Hey! I am doing whatever Dad is ordering me to. It's not like I am not doing anything." Dhruv chimed in.
"Whatever." I huffed.
"And you know I've got the perfect son in-law. He is also excited just like me for the wedding. He said that he wants it to be perfect for you and will everything that you'll like." Dad said.
"See, I told you Arjun that Ahaan will be perfect for our Kyra. They aren't even married yet and still he's caring about Kyra and our family. I knew it was always a good decision to choose Ahaan for our Kyra as life partner." Mom added in between.
Hearing this my mood turned sour and Dhruv noticed it. He gave me a sympathetic smile which I returned with a blank expression.
"I just remembered that Kyra I need to tell you something." Dad said breaking my thoughts.
"What is it Dad?" I asked.
"So, as you know that your and Ahaan's wedding is decided after a month from now so Kartik and I have come up with an idea. We've planned that you both should get to know each other more before the marriage and a road trip would be a great option." Dad replied.
I sank myself in the couch.
A road trip?
That also with Ahaan.
I don't think I'll be able to survive after this.
"But Dad it's unnecessary. We'll get plenty of time to know each other and I don't think its a good idea to go with literally any guy." I reasoned out.
"Kyra he's not any guy. It's Ahaan who you're going to marry. And don't think I don't remember the fact that you two were good friends in school time. I realised that he is the same Ahaan who was in your class and your friend. I don't know why you didn't want to tell us that, but now that I've got to know it it's more the merrier." Dad said.
I looked at him with my mouth agape.
Even Dhruv noticed the tension in the atmosphere and decided it was the best time for him to say something.
"Yes Dad. It's a good idea. And Kyra you both will not go alone. Sarah and I are going to accompany you as well."
"Sarah? And here again everyone knows about something related to me except myself." I scoffed.
"Don't be overdramatic Kyra. We are going on this trip and spending time together. Also you need to inform Sarah about this as I still haven't asked her." Dhruv said.
"When are we leaving by the way?" I asked.
"Tomorrow morning at 6:00 am." Dad replied.
"Alright. I'll just call Sarah." I muttered as I bid everyone byes and started going upstairs.

"So you're basically saying that Uncle knows Ahaan was in the same class as you and is letting you both get to know each other more by a road trip." Sarah exclaimed finally understanding the whole situation after I was explaining to her from past half an hour.
"Correct. And he wants you and Dhruv to accompany us so that we both will feel more comfortable." I said.
Sarah suddenly started coughing.
"Are you okay?" I asked her concerned.
"Yeah. It was something in my throat." She replied back.
"Hmm. So get your bag ready for tomorrow and we'll be leaving at 6 in the morning." I said further.
"Okay. I guess it'll be fun. I'll see you tomorrow. Bye." She said as we hung up.
Sighing, I went towards the balcony attached to my room. It was dark outside as it was already 10 PM. Shivers ran down my spine as the wind blew. But I know it's also because I am thinking about what is going to happen tomorrow.
Road trip?
I have no idea how could Dad come up with something like this. Was it Ahaan somewhere in convincing Dad about this? Because I remember once he mentioned that he'll do something for us to spend more time together before all the drama.
Drama which is going to take place in a month's time.
I don't know what Ahaan has in his mind. Why is he planning all this when he clearly knows that I am not interested in this relationship?
How could he even think that doing such things would make me happy again and I'll involuntarily forget the past?
I don't think it's possible.
Going back in my room I laid down on my bed. I was about to sleep when I heard a 'beep' sound. It was a message.
Opening it I saw that it was from Ahaan.
'Good Night baby. Excited for tomorrow ;)' -Ahaan
'Sorry to burst that bubble of yours, but I am not excited. Night.' Is what I replied.
After this, I put my phone on the nightstand with a alarm for 4:30 AM and drifted into a deep, peaceful slumber.
