Problems

"What the hell did you just do?"

Jin and Namjoon look at Yoongi like he has ten heads. "I saved your sorry asses, something you probably wouldn't do for me," Yoongi grumbles, grabbing Jin and Namjoon's weapons from where Eladio had them.

"Are you fucking insane? That was your chance to save yourself!" Jin says.

"Yeah and yet I still chose you. I don't even know why. Maybe your betrayal hasn't fully hit yet, but I couldn't kill you. I just couldn't. I couldn't stand down and let you go to your deaths either." The two share a look, then meet Yoongi's intense gaze as he walks over. "Here. You'll need your weapons now," Yoongi says, handing both guns to them. They take them with no protest and stand.

"Are you sure about this?" Jin asks, Namjoon staying quiet throughout it all.

"I can't really take it back now," Yoongi says with a shrug.

"Where the hell do we go?" Namjoon asks, finally speaking.

"I have no idea. For now we get as far away from the city as possible. Get to a different country, get new identities, run away," Yoongi says.

"What about Y/n?"

"I... don't know. I have her number, so I'll call her. I'm not sure what else to do about that." The two seem put on edge by Yoongi's words, but they don't dare speak up. They've done more than enough for one day.

He lets out a heavy breath and grabs his phone. There's only so much more he can do right now. He made his choice, however horrible of a choice it was. From the way he saw it, he had three options. Kill them and walk free assuming Eladio stuck to his word. Stand down and go to trial. Or he could have done what he did, kill Eladio and go on the run. Yoongi isn't a big fan of the High Council, which was another reason why he didn't take the job, so the last option seemed the most appealing at the time. Now the first option seems like it was really the best. Not like he can take it back now.

"My guess is we have a day at most until the High Council realizes something happened to Eladio. Maybe three days max until they send another and find out he's dead. They'll know it was us right off the bat, we'll have to move quickly," Yoongi says, his subordinates nodding and absorbing every word. Yoongi grumbles a few curses to himself before dialing her number. "Can I have a moment alone please?" Right away, the two men go to a corner out of earshot.

After a few rings that make Yoongi's heart beat faster, she picks up. "Mr. Min, what can I do for you?" she asks. Her soft tone makes his heart melt, but he can't focus on that right now.

"I'm so sorry, Y/n," he whispers.

"Sorry?" her panicked voice asks. "Sorry for what?"

"I made a choice, a choice I can't take back."

"Did you kill Jin?"

"No, quite the opposite. I don't have much time, so I'm just gonna come out and say it. Namjoon put the hit out on the High Council member."

She pauses for a moment. "You're shitting."

"I wish I was," Yoongi says, his tone quivering. "But they came to Unmei and took all three of us. Death sentences, so I did the only thing I could. I fought back and I... I killed Eladio."

"You did fucking what?!" she yells, but it sounds more like a concerned yell than an angry one.

"I had to. I'm so sorry, but he gave me a choice. Either kill Namjoon and Jin or turn myself in with them. Even though they betrayed me, I couldn't kill them. I know we've only been together for a couple days, but I want you to know that I loved every second." He hears her sniffle, his heart cracking at the sound. Despite his cold exterior, he truly does care about her and the ones around him. Maybe more than he should. "I'm so sorry. I wanted more time with you," he whispers. There's a few seconds of silence as she regains herself. He can't blame her, he's the same way right now.

"Yoons, I don't know what to say."

"Me too," he mutters. He glances over at the other two and gives them a sad look they return. It seems like their lives are about to change forever. If they can even get out of the country, how will they survive on their own? They'll be looking over their shoulders for the rest of their lives. Is that really how they want to live?

"We have to get moving. The longer we stall, the more likely we die. I'm sorry I don't get to say this apology face to face, but I'm still holding out hope that we can see each other one day," he says.

She lets out a shaky breath that cracks his glass heart. "Yoons?" He nods despite her not being able to see him. "Don't do that."

"Do what?" he asks in a mumble.

"Don't act like you're okay with this, don't act so uptight like you always are. Tell me how you really feel. It's okay."

Yoongi bites back his tears and leans against the wall, placing a hand over his mouth. "I'm scared."

"I know. I can only imagine. What can I do?"

"Do? You're not doing anything, you're staying where you are and you're going to forget about me and live happily."

She chuckles, but there's no humor in it. "Are you seriously going to bench your most viable asset?"

"You're not an asset," he mumbles. "You're my girlfriend."

He can hear her smile. "I'm your girlfriend?"

"This is supposed to be sad," he says. She breaks out laughing, the sound filling Yoongi's heart with much-needed hope.

"You're not losing me Yoons, and I'm not losing you. We've come too far to let that happen now."

"But... you'd be risking your life. Why would you do that for someone you just started dating?" he asks.

"I've been risking my life every God damn day since I was born, but I'm still here. Why not fight for something I actually want to fight for?" There's a beat of silence. "Listen, whatever I'm going to do, I need time to do it. Text me updates to your location and keep me posted. Don't call me again, let me call you. I have a plan. I think."

"You think?" Yoongi asks.

"I think. Keep moving and text me coordinates as often as possible. Don't worry, we will see each other again. I promise." A promise. Such a flimsy thing for him in the past. But for some reason, when she says it, it makes him feel at peace.

"Okay," he says.

There's another few beats of quiet before she clears her throat. "Stay safe, okay? I have some things to handle now. Stay alive as long as possible. I'll come get you and we'll figure this out the right way. Together." Before he can mutter a response, she hangs up, him going still as soon as he realizes she's gone. That won't be the last conversation they share, he'll make sure of it. Besides, she promised. They'll be fine. Probably.

Yoongi shoves his phone back into his pocket and goes over to his subordinates, the two looking up upon his arrival. "We have three pistols with full mags, no back up ammo, no knives, no armor, no chargers for our phones. We have what's on us and what's on us only, not even any money. If we go back inside the compound I'm sure Jungkook will be there to kill us. We need to leave now," Yoongi says. The two share a look, then meet Yoongi's gaze.

"What do we do?" Jin asks in a fragile tone. Yoongi sighs, clicking off the safety of his pistol.

"We fight."
