19; Anchored

"What is that?" Isaac asked, tracing the symbol on Derek's trunk.

"It's a triskele." Boyd answered, everyone looking at him in confusion. "The spirals mean different things. Past, present, future. Mother, father, child."

"You know what it means to me?" Derek asked from where he was squatted, his hand in his knee. "

"Alpha, beta, omega." Harley offered, pushing herself off the wall.

"That's right." He nodded, looking between the four of them. "It's a spiral. Reminds us we can all rise to one and fall to another. Betas can become alphas, but alphas can also fall to betas or even omegas."

"Like Scott?" Isaac asked, looking up as Harley crossed the room.

"Scott's with us."

"Really?" The blonde scoffed, stopping next to Isaac and looking around. "Where is he now?"

"He's looking for Jackson." Derek replied, giving her a warning look. "Don't worry he's not gonna have it easy tonight either. None of us will. That's the price you pay for this kind of power. You get the ability to heal, but tonight you're gonna want to kill everything in sight."

"Good thing I had my period last week then." Erica smirked, Harley covering her mouth to smother her laughter as the boys all looked at her in shock.

"Well this ones for you." Derek held up one of the headbands she has seen a week or two ago, their smiles falling. "Both of you, actually."

"Cute." Harley sighed as she leant against Isaac, the boy putting a hand in the small of her back lightly.

Erica and Boyd shared an amused look, this being a natural occurrence after the rave. Casual touches and glances, neither of them being inconspicuous. It was hard to, seeing as Isaac often neglected to rid his neck of smudged lipstick. Erica found it comforting to see Harley like that, something she hadn't seen in almost a year.

Not since Jackson.

"What if we break free?" Boyd asked, a wary look on his face.

"You'll do anything to get free." Derek replied, tightening the belt on him. "Probably even kill me, kill eachother, kill anything with a heartbeat. I need you to hold her."

Isaac hesitantly looped his arms under Harley's, holding the girl tightly.

"So how come they get to use the headbands?" He asked, feeling Harley lean against him.

"Because they'll be able to withstand more pain than the two of you." Derek answered, the blonde letting out a scoff. "I've got an extra if you really want it."

"I'll pass."

"You ready?" He asked, Harley nodding in return.

"Yeah." She breathed, gripping the pole next to her tightly. Harley let out a shaky breath as he placed the headband over her head, slowly twisting in the spikes. It was just a dull pain at first, growing more and more intense as it drilled into her skull, the girl letting out a bloodcurdling scream.

"You're hurting her." Isaac growled, watching in fear as she cried out, blood dripping down her forehead. "Stop it!"

"She needs to be as secure as possible." Derek grunted, twisting it a final time before she sagged against Isaac and moved onto Erica.

"Hey," Isaac whispered, dipping underneath her chains so he could be face to face with her. "You alright?"

"I'm fine." Harley winced, giving him a weak smile as she tried to ignore her best friend's screams. Isaac gave her a worried look and cupped her face, brushing her cheek with his thumb. "Isaac, you have to-"

"I don't care." He shook his head, leaning forward to press her lips to his briefly. When he pulled away she smiled at him before her face twisted in pain, the girl crying out. "Harley?"

"Get back." Derek ordered, pulling him towards one of the seats. He hesitated, his eyes not leaving Harley. "If you don't, you'll rip each other apart."

Isaac nodded when Harley let out a low growl, her eyes flashing their vibrant gold. He grunted when he started feeling the moon himself, Derek shoving him into a bench and starting to chain him up.

"How are you not feeling this?" Isaac groaned, sweat beading on his forehead.

"I feel every second of it." He spat, tightening one of the leather straps.

"Then how do you control it?"

"Find an anchor." The alpha replied, his eyes flickering back to Harley as she squeezed her eyes shut. "Something meaningful to you. Bind yourself to it, keep the human side in control."

"What is it for you?" Derek glanced up, Isaac waiting for an answer.

"Anger." He muttered, looking back down at the chains. "But it doesn't do that for everyone."

"You mean Scott?" Isaac realized, his head resting on one of the poles.

"Yeah." He hooked the last of the chains, assessing his work as the three other betas let out snarls. "That should do it."

He pulled at one of the chains as a test, the leg of the bench coming unbolted. Isaac and Derek shared a look of fear, the alpha looking back to see Erica, Harley, and Boyd staring back at him, eyes glowing and growls rumbling in their throats.

It was utter chaos. Erica and Harley were screaming as the headbands dug into her skulls, while Boyd and Isaac struggled to get out of their chains.

"Scott? Can you call me back?" Derek spoke into his phone, glancing back at the mess behind him. "I'm probably gonna need some help. Definitely gonna need some help."

He stepped into the subway car, jumping back as Isaac lurched towards him, eyes widening when he heard the snapping of metal. Harley looked down at her free hand slowly, ripping the other one free. She tore the headband away and threw it aside as she jumped at Derek, claws slashing t his chest. She paused as Isaac jumped through the window, the beta letting out a snarl and following.

"Harley!" Derek called after her, being slammed aside by Boyd. "Isaac!"

Harley's vision blurred red as she tackled Isaac, knees on his chest as he snapped at her. His hands found their way around her throat, the girl clawing at his grip as she struggled to breath. They met gazes, their eyes flashing a vibrant purple before returning to their normal gold. The two paused, feeling a sense of control wash over them as they stared at each other.

Isaac released her, the girl standing up and holding out a hand. He took it, Harley hoisting him up and giving him a short nod before the two headed back to the subway car, finding Boyd on top of Derek. Isaac pulled him away while Harley shoved Erica into wall, holding her back before she could get to the alpha.

Derek looked at them in shock, the two just sending him a look of understanding and helping control their packmates.

"I think you'll be okay now." Derek sighed, cuffing Harley to her seat across from Isaac. "Looks like you guys found an anchor."

Derek wasn't really surprised, the whole pack picking up on the connection between the two. Harley and Isaac shared a glance as he got up, the girl turning to look at him.

"Derek." Harley spoke, eyebrows furrowing. "Something happened, when we anchored."

"What do you mean?" The alpha asked slowly, pausing to stare at them.

"Our eyes," Isaac began, looking up at him. "They turned purple."
