03; Lost Appetite

Harley let out an annoyed breath as she knocked on the door, lips pursed as she surveyed the house, a loud 'Well go answer the fucking door' coming from inside. It's only took a few moments until the door opened slowly, a very confused Isaac Lahey standing in the door frame. The confusion turned into fear as he looked over his shoulder, swallowing hard.

"You can't be here." He whispered, eyes wide.

"Nice to see you too." She sighed, running a hand through her hair. "Derek sent me to make sure you're not like, dying."

"I'm fine." He swore, bouncing on his toes lightly. "Now please leave."

"Isaac?" A voice sounded from behind him, making him flinch. "Who's this?"
Isaac swallowed and looked between the girl and his father, unable to produce words.

"Harley Finstock." The blonde gave him a wide smile and stuck out her hand, trying not to grimace at how Mr.Lahey seemed to look her up and down with more than a fatherly interest. "I'm Isaac's chemistry partner, I was just coming to ask him about our project."

"You didn't say anything about a project." His father gave him cold glare, fear radiating off of him.

"We just got it today." Harley added, laughing as she shrugged. "And I totally wasn't paying attention, so I was wondering if I could use his notes. Blonde moment."

"Why don't you come in?" His face spread into what might have been a grin, if it wasn't so creepy. "We were just about to start dinner."

"I-I don't think-"

"I would love to." She beamed, giving Isaac a wink as she was lead inside.

"You have no idea what you just did." Isaac whispered, shutting the door.

"Chill." She chuckled, giving him a sweet smile. "Parents love me."

Isaac just shook his head and lead her to the kitchen, where Mr.Lahey was just setting down an extra plate. She gave him a short 'thank you' and sat down, Isaac practically trembling as he took his own seat.

"Well, I can see why Harris says Isaac seems distracted all the time." The older man chuckled, pointing his fork at his son. "Probably not used to being partnered with a girl straight out of a Playboy."

"Excuse me?" She blinked, mildly uncomfortable.

"It's a compliment." He teased, waving his fork around before taking a drink of his water.

"That's a little innapropriate dad." Isaac mumbled, picking at his bread.

"What?" He snapped, narrowing his eyes.

"N-Nothing." His son cleared his throat, shaking his head.

"That's what I thought." He muttered. "How about those grades, son?"

"Um, so far it's an A in French and a B minus in econ."

"What about chemistry?" He asked, Isaac biting down on his cheek. "Huh?"

"I'm not sure." He swallowed, refusing to look up. "Midterms are in a few days so it could go up."

"Miss Finstock?" Harley ripped her eyes away from Isaac, looking to his father. "I'm sorry to be rude, but I think this is a family discussion that needs to be taken downstairs."

"I uh, yeah." Harley blinked, pushing herself up. "I'll show myself out."

Isaac gave her a pleading look and she felt a sour taste in her mouth, her stomach churning. She walked outside and immediately started dialing Derek's number whilst straining to listen inside, but they were talking too quietly to hear.

She jumped and whirled around when she heard glass shatter, followed by a 'shut up! It's just a scratch'. The door flung open, Isaac running out and ramming into the blonde.

"What's going on?" She asked, but he just grabbed her arm and started pulling her to her car.

"Isaac!" Mr.Lahey appeared in the doorway, walking down the lawn as she unlocked the car and got in. "Isaac!"

"Please, please just drive." Isaac pleaded, shutting the door. Harley nodded and started the car before peeling away.

"Seriously, what the hell just happened?" She snapped, looking in the rear view to see his father getting in his own car.

"He-he threw a glass at me and I healed."

"Right in front of him?" He just nodded in response, the blonde pursing her lips. "Does he do that a lot?"

"I don't want to talk about it." He looked out the window as rain started to pour, the girl pulling into an alleyway.

"Get out." Harley said, turning off the ignition. He looked at her with terrified eyes and she sighed, rolling her eyes. "We're better off hiding in an alley than in a car, all right? Now come on."

They both got out, the blonde grabbing his arm and dragging him behind a dumpster. She pushed him against the side of it, using him to steady herself. It was so not easy to hide in heels.

"Tell me Isaac, does he do that a lot?"

"Since when do you care?" He scoffed, making her roll her eyes again. This boy was bound to make her eyes roll right out of her head.

"I don't." She hissed, narrowing her eyes. "I never will. But here's the thing-Derek does, and whether you like it we're both in his stupid pack, and I need to know when I'm going to be put ina situation like this. Got it?"

"Got it." Isaac muttered.

"Good." She sighed, moving her now soaked hair out of her face. Thank god for setting spray, or her makeup would be thrashed. "Because these heels, are way too expensive to be dumpster crouching."

"Isaac?" The shout was followed by a car door slamming and footsteps. She pressed him closer to the dumpster, listening closely as he knocked on her car window. "Isaac?"

Isaac's eyes widened as he looked over her shoulder, the blonde looking over her shoulder as well. In the rain stood a figure she couldn't quite see, but she swore she saw a tail.

"Okay, that's enough." He started clapping, growing more irritated. "Let's go! Isaac, grab your little friend and let's go."

The figure started crouching down, Mr.Lahey uttering a curse before his footsteps pounded against the ground again. Isaac flinched as he heard his father screaming, Harley listening with wide eyes. There was a screeching of metal and before they could react, the car door flew past them, shards of glass bouncing off the dumpster

When the only sound left was rain hitting the pavement Harley got up, walking slowly to the end of the alley. She let out a gasp and brought the back of her hand to her mouth, bile rising in her throat. She backed up, hitting Isaac's chest as he stood there in shock.

"Isaac?"

"Yeah?"

"We are so screwed."

Not edited.

Oh shit. Harley and Isaac just witnessed murder.

Anyways, this is a filler I'm sorry, I know. But I'll try to update more this week.

Also; I just put up the prologue for my Scallison AU today, so that should be fun.

Vote and comment!
