As soon as the white-haired male woke up tied to a chair in a basement room, it was hard to come to terms with what had happened. He slowly started to process that he had been betrayed by her, it was a trap all along and he was too stupid to see it.
Love was blinding and he wished he wasn't so weak, he wished that he never fell in love with her because if he didn't, they could've been just friends and he wouldn't be in this position right now. Torn between his brother and the woman he's always wanted, he chose her and now was coming face to face with the karmic reality of betrayal.
At this point, he could do nothing but shake his head with a heavy sigh, looking down at the floor with tears building in his eyes that he blinked away. He should've fucking known it wasn't real, that it wasn't going to be that easy to have her.
Yoongi was delusional to put it plainly, he believed that no matter what, she could see his loyal side and forgive him for what he's done because, in the end, all he wanted was her. Only now that he's come to terms with his fate, does he realize it never would've worked in the first place.
It was idiotic to think so, but he couldn't help it. The thought of loving her and her reciprocating those feelings made him go insane and he had to do anything in his power to make that happen. Even if it was out of selfishness and dishonesty.
Blinded by his desire for her, he didn't think about her and what she was feeling. He didn't care because he wanted to change her, he wanted her to learn to love him. If it took weeks, months, or even years, he would wait. But she was the wrong person at the wrong time.
Runa was never meant to be his. They might've shared a special bond because they grew up very close and were inseparable friends, but as soon as she started to see him differently, there was no saving their friendship once she used and discarded him after figuring out why he acted the way he did towards her.
He was so attached that no matter what she was doing, he wanted to hear about her day, what she ate, who she spoke to. Just for the sake of hearing her voice over the phone, entrapped by the business he was in so he couldn't see her physically, but instead had to appreciate that she picked up his calls and answered his messages when they couldn't meet up.
He would look at her in a way that made her question their relationship. They agreed it was just sex, but for the sake of their reputation and privacy, they claimed to be together. It was easier to sneak around that way, figuring people wouldn't ask too much about what they were doing. Seeing as they were 'together' and doing what normal couples do.
Maybe not normal, but you get the idea. Their fake relationship only cleared up the fog so she could see his true intentions. He wanted to love and spoil her, even when she wasn't his. She liked his kisses, the way he held her in his arms and protected her from the world, or how after they were done, he'd kiss down her body and tell her how beautiful she was.
Runa liked his affections and admiration, although she viewed him as just a friend with benefits, he saw her as somebody to appreciate and worship. Whenever he complimented or touched her, she didn't feel like an object.
She was more than a pretty face, and in the lonely world they lived in, it was nice to feel a man's presence when she had no one else to be intimate with, no one else that understood the darker side of things. That's why they were each other's first in most of everything. They killed together, they argued, they apologized by fucking, and neither of them wanted it to end.
They acted like a couple, but it was still one-sided. She used him to feel good, but was he any better? He stayed in that situation, knowing she didn't feel the same, and yet he tried. He tried so hard to please her because he figured that he should enjoy it while it lasted. Deep down, beneath the veil of delusion he created, he knew it would never be what he wanted.
She loved Jungkook. It was clear as day, clearer than the finest crystal in the world. Runa loved him in ways Yoongi loved her, except she wasn't selfish and the feeling was mutual. He knew when seeing them at the gala that they were madly in love. Even behind those masks, the passion in their eyes couldn't be concealed. The way Jungkook intentionally held her close and maintained brutal eye contact with him from across the room told him as much. She's mine.
That's what he saw, that's what Jungkook said without words. That was quite some time ago, so he was sure they were much closer after what's transpired between now and then. With the things she's lost, Yoongi was beyond jealous that her bodyguard was the one to comfort her, the one to feel her weak in his arms, vulnerable.
It was his fault, he knew it. His greed and his arrogance led him down a path that led to the edge, a dead end. There was no turning back now, all that remained was guilt, regret, and the bitter taste of memories lingering on his tongue that made him feel sour. Runa loved him, she loved Jungkook, and the worst part was he loved her back.
Yoongi has always wanted that. They would've been perfect together if she felt that way towards him. That's why everyone assumed the two best friends were together even when they weren't. They were always the ones judging everyone in their corner, the fearless heirs that took on the world so young and were unreachable because of the reputations they built for themselves without the help of daddy's money.
They were more feared than their parents were. Not only because they had ambition and determination, but because they had each other. The dynamic duo. The Kang and Min heirs united to form one of the world's greatest alliances in history. But it was all ruined in a flash.
His desire to have her made him do things that he should've never done. He aligned with his older brother to take down his father, much like she had done, all because he wanted to prove himself. Even though he aided in Dong-Wook's death, along with Cookie's and the destruction of the city, he wanted her to know that he would do unimaginable things just to be with her.
It was foolish to think she would forgive him for taking away what she held precious in her heart. That the death of two of the most important things to her, along with her beloved car, would somehow be pushed into the back of her mind. As if she hadn't gone to hell and back and didn't go through the torment she went through for the sake of his brother's amusement and thirst for power.
In his last moments, that's when the clarity finally hit. He was going to die being known as a traitor. There was no use fighting anymore, he knew he deserved it. If she wanted him to die, then so be it. He'd give that to her without hesitation. As soon as he smelled her perfume, he knew death would come not long after. His eyes were glued to the ground. Now he was too afraid to look at her. He didn't deserve to.
"I'm truly disappointed Yoongi. I thought you were smarter than this", she says while leaning against the wall to his left side, taking notice of his lack of response which was unusual for him.
"You think I'd ever forgive you for what you and your brother have done? You think after the things I've lost, I'd run to you with open arms?"
It was rhetorical, and her tone burned him. Even though his heart raced and all he wanted to do was look at her, he couldn't find the strength to. The fear started to get to him, worse than anything he's ever felt.
"Just kill me", he whispers, closing his eyes and accepting what he deserves.
A scoff is a response to that, and his heart pounds violently when she takes slow, menacing steps toward him. Now when he looks down, he can see the black stilettos she wore. She's close. Too close.
"It's not that simple, Yoongi. I'll kill you, but not before you tell me where he is."
She lowers herself and harshly grabs his face in her hand, turning his head to look up at her and when her eyes interlock with his, she can see he's given up. Which would make it easier to get information out of him. Bingo.
"Do you truly love me, Yoongi?", she whispers, glancing down at his small pink lips for a heavy second before looking back into his eyes.
He wasn't fooled by her manipulation, but he still played into it because there's nothing else he can do, "Yes."
"Then tell me where he is. Tell me where I can find him and as a token of my gratitude, I'll give you a merciful death. Does that seem like a fair trade?"
Squatting down, she rests one arm in his lap while the other runs through his hair, a playful smile on her face when she sees him visibly melt into her touch with a flutter of his eyelids.
"Yes, ma'am."
Her chuckle makes his eyes open, and he takes in her closeness while he can. He knows she's lying. Now that he's no longer feeding into his delusion, the truth is painfully obvious. His death will be anything but merciful. And whose fault is that? His own.
"You're so formal when you're scared. Or are you doing that to suck up? Hm?", she questioned, already knowing his answer but she just liked to torture him.
"I'll tell you where he is", he quietly responds, enjoying how she now proceeded to stroke his soft cheek, satisfied that he gave in.
"Will you now?"
With a soft nod, her hand falls from his face as she stands and towers over him, his head now tilted to look up at her. Still, even now, that look in her eyes sent chills throughout his whole body, radiating like heat in his soul. It was dead, not an ounce of mercy or love in them.
Was she hurt by what he did? He wanted to know, he wanted to know that she did care about him and that wasn't a delusion as well. For once, the Gods above answered his prayers and her next words felt like a comfort.
"You know, if you weren't so selfish, you wouldn't have to die like this. I know you loved me, and I admitted many times I was wrong for what I did to you. But this?", she scoffs with a bitter laugh, making him feel even more guilty for what he's done.
"You can't come back from this. You blew up my car, killed my fucking dog, killed one of the only people I've ever cared about-", her voice progressively gets louder and he can see how angry she is when she starts to yell, "-and you still were stupid enough to expect my love in return! You thought I'd forgive you and be partners with your brother after what you two took from me?! Newsflash Yoongi, dysfunctional families are dysfunctional for a reason. They never work!"
With a heavy, stressed sigh, she runs her hands through her semi-damp hair and closes her eyes whilst taking a deep breath, trying her best to stay calm even when her hands were shaking and the rage she felt vibrated in her bones.
"We never would've been happy. I hope you can see it never would've worked between us. We were meant to be friends and nothing more. And since I'm going to kill you soon, I'll let you in on a little secret", she rests her back against the wall, folding her arms across her chest with a serious frown on her face that swallowed him with disgust.
"It hurt, Yoongi. You hurt me. I never wanted you to love me like that but I used you and regretted it afterward. Nothing can take back what was said and done, but you and I have known each other since we could barely talk."
He tilts his gaze down at the floor, feeling the familiar ache of shame fill his chest and he closes his eyes tight to stop tears. He doesn't want to be weak, he's shown that side of him enough. It's just her voice that starts to slowly kill him, making him wish for the end to come soon.
"You and I grew up in this hellhole together, but we had each other to get through the long nights. Out of everyone, I'd say I trusted and relied on you the most along with Dong-Wook. That's why you were my one and only true friend. You understood me, you felt the same way I did, and there was nothing more comforting than having someone like you beside me."
She didn't owe him a thing, and even though she hated to admit it, deep down, she still cared for him. A very small part of her was humane, and she hated how empathetic she was at times. Still, no matter how hurt she was, he had broken her trust repeatedly and their relationship was beyond repair. He had to die, it was that simple. But she figured she might as well give him a parting gift of honesty.
"I hated how much you loved me because I knew I could never feel the same. You were perfect, we were perfect together, but I couldn't find it in my heart to love you in that way. I'm not sorry for that, because I can't help the way I feel. The only thing I hate is the fact that you fell in love with me. Love is hard and it hurts, but there's no excuse. That was selfish of you."
He nods his head, "I know. I don't deserve you. I don't deserve to live."
Her fist slams against the wall with frustration, "Yoongi, I fucking hate you. I hate that you still love me, I can see it in your face, I can hear it in your voice. I mean, look at what it's done to you", her voice cracks a little, "It's destroyed everything. And you're going to die for it."
Lifting his head to meet her eyes, her frustration and anger sickened him. She hated the situation she was forced into, how things got so messy between them because of something as silly as feelings. It's brought her so much agony, and it's angering that after everything, he still has that goddamned look on his face. Like she's the world, and she can't stand being seen as that from someone she's never wanted it from.
"I know I'm weak, I know I'm pathetic. And you're right, only I'm to blame for this. I hurt you and betrayed you because I was greedy to have you back. I'm just as bad, but now I've given up. I can't do this anymore. I can't love you anymore. And the only way to stop is if I'm dead", he confesses, his usual nonchalance back, or maybe he's become numb.
"You have to kill me to make it stop. Because I can't", his voice breaks and he presses his lips together to stop himself from breaking, "I can't stop, I've tried. My heart won't let me."
Her head shook and she averted her gaze away from him, "Let's just get this over with. I'm sick of dragging this out longer than necessary. Where is your brother?"
Straight to business as usual when she was starting to feel too much. At least he had the opportunity to talk. It made death seem a little more gratifying now as he felt a warmth relieving the ache in his chest that crushed his lungs. He struggled to get words out, but he managed with a strained voice.
"Taemin and some of his men are staying in an underground hotel owned by the Organization. They've been sending assassins to take us out under unauthorized usage of the establishment, but they've all been killed so far. That's why we've been in hiding there, no one knows about it but the Organization and its handlers."
"Where is it located?", she asks, and right on cue, her brother, San, and her bodyguard walk in and Yoongi doesn't even glance their way to acknowledge them as they stand on the other side of him.
"It's a bunker hidden underneath the Grand Central Terminal. If you go to the sub-basement, you'll find a locked room in the corner with a pin pad. The code is 0707, and once you get in, you'll see the latch and once you climb down, it's a hotel."
"How did he find this?", Jungkook asks, and since he was once a part of the Organization, they all figured he must've known about it.
"He had friends who were assassins, and once they realized he needed a safe place, they brought him there and gave him access. The men that they sent after us killed them since they were traitors", Yoongi adds, not looking at the bodyguard but speaking in his direction.
"Alright then, anything else you'd like to add? I suggest making it quick", Runa cuts in with impatience, wanting to get this done so she could get her hands on the other Min brother before anything else happened.
"He has a drug shipment coming in the Red Hook container terminal at around midnight this Saturday from a ship numbered #1007. The drugs are supposed to be moved to one of his warehouses but I don't know which one."
They all look at each other and with a nod from his sister, Jimin and San make their way out of the room to inform their men about the new information they've just received, leaving only Runa and her bodyguard to keep him company.
"I'd like to think you aren't lying and this isn't a trap", Jungkook comments once they're gone, and Yoongi doesn't even feel the desire to roll his eyes since he can't blame the man for his distrust.
"There's no point. I don't find this amusing", he mumbles, turning his gaze to Runa who just blinks at him, and he wishes he could read her mind.
"I hope you know what this means now", she says while stepping forward, and he nods while tilting his head down, his pulse thudding in his ears.
"I know you won't make this quick, but you might as well get started now."
"You're right."
Upon hearing that voice, the both of them turn to Jungkook who approaches the man, looking down at him plainly before turning to meet her curious gaze while extending out his hand.
"I'll do the honors", his hand gestures for her weapon, and without protest, she takes the dagger from its holster strapped to her thigh and puts the blade in his hand.
"Fuck", the white-haired male mumbled, taking in a shaky breath because he knew that this was going to be bad just from the look in the bodyguard's eyes.
Runa was intrigued by this behavior and stood against the wall to watch, and with a racing heart of thrill and curiosity, she watched as Jungkook trails the tip of the blade across Yoongi's neck, particularly against the vein that protruded from his jaw being clenched out of nervousness. For one of the first times in his life, Jungkook felt genuine excitement when he saw fear in his eyes.
"You shouldn't have betrayed her", he prodded the blade against his throat, drawing a bit of blood that made Runa's lips pull into a sick smile.
Seeing as that didn't gain much of a reaction, he moves the blade tauntingly across his jawline and up to his mouth, parting the male's lips.
"Open", he demands, and Yoongi's eyes slightly widen when he realizes what he's going to do, even more so when he forces it open and ducks down to whisper in his ear so she can't hear him.
"Just so you can forget the taste of her, I think it's only right that your tongue is the first thing you lose", he threatens, and when he leans back with a scowl on his face, Yoongi sighs defeatedly and accepts the torture, seeing as there was no point in fighting it.
"Runa", the bodyguard turns his head to the side, making her perk up from his voice, "Go upstairs and wait for me."
Immediately, disappointment sinks in her stomach as she frowns, "But I want to-"
"Don't make me repeat myself", he turns to her and with one look, she gives in although she doesn't want to.
"I don't want you seeing this", his voice softened a little, a glint in his eyes that made her stomach flutter.
One last look towards the breathless man who wished for her to stay, even if she had to see the horrendous things he was about to go through, she walked out the door with a silly grin on her face. Hearing the distant, blood-curdling screams that emitted from the closed room made her think of what he could be doing that elicited such a reaction. It was silent as she exited the basement and saw Jimin and San waiting in the living room while on their phones.
"I think he's gonna be a while", she announces, approaching the men who acknowledge her presence with their attention, seeing as she sits on the couch across from them with a pleased look on her face.
"I have a few ideas", her brother says, and with a nod from her, he begins speaking.
Once it's discussed and debated, they settle on one final plan, and they barely notice it's been almost two hours until they hear the basement door open. Runa turns her head to see Jungkook's face covered in blood, and her mouth slightly falls open as she watches him rinse off in the kitchen sink along with her dagger that was covered in red.
Why did he have to look so hot covered in blood? It only fed her curiosity to know what he did to Yoongi that made him scream like that. She'd never heard that amount of terror before, especially not from a man like him, a fearless man.
"Is he dead?", San asks once Jungkook approaches them with a now clean, dry face after patting it with a paper towel which he also used to clean her weapon, handing it back to her which she takes and puts back in its holster.
The question hangs in the air for a few seconds, and with a glance her way, the dark look in his eyes makes her body heat up and she is mindful not to squirm.
"He's dead."
That was the anticipated answer and right before Jimin opens his mouth to comment, Runa's phone dings with a notification. They all looked in her direction, seeing as she had a little smile when she saw the man that messaged her after quite a long time.
"Speak of the devil", she chuckles, thinking of how perfect the timing is of his response.
"Is it Seokjin?", her brother asks, getting a feeling that it was.
"The one and only."
