Safe to say that when they all met back at the estate, Runa was anything but calm. Now to see her this angry was something considering she was usually composed. But when she lost her mind, she never held back and didn't bother refraining from going full psycho, wanting to smash anything in her sight.
Still, it begged the question as to why the surveillance system failed, how they couldn't hear anything from the hidden body cam on her blouse, and why the picture was blurry. Maybe it was the fact that she was in an underground basement which was meant to block off all signals and anything electronic. Or maybe it was something else.
Regardless, Yoongi put on a good face and looked upset just like everybody else did. Runa was seething, a scowl on her face as her hands slightly shook in her lap from pure rage. Jimin was disappointed more than anything. His sister was lucky to be alive and he should've known Taemin would get away. It was hard to catch him and none of the CCTVs seemed to work because they were hacked, meaning the cameras were stuck on one timeframe.
None of them suspected anything, and after taking a few moments to calm down, Runa told them what he said, how he had tattoos littering his face and neck, how he knew who the traitor was and only said that the person was close to them, whatever that meant. Her brother contemplated what to do now and as soon as Dong-Wook came rushing into the office, making sure she was ok and they were all alive, she was too upset to say everything in detail, so Jungkook did that for her.
"He's gone now and none of my men saw him exit the building. I don't know what happened or how it did, but whoever this traitor is knows too much and screwed with the system. He just disappeared like he was never there in the first place."
The silver-haired male heaved out a sigh, shaking his head with aggravation. What could they do? What was there to find? What were they missing?
"We need to find him, he's not going to get away with this. That fucker blew up my car."
Yoongi rolls his eyes, although he immediately regrets it when he gets a glare from her that sends a shiver down his spine, "Got something to say?", she spits out harshly, looking at her ex with crazed eyes.
"It's just a car, Runa", he softened his voice, hoping to de-escalate the situation but he should've known better and kept his attitude to himself, especially because he knew what emotional value it held for her.
"It's my car, that he blew up to not only anger me but to show us that he's not afraid and he'll go as far as he wants. It was a threat, flexing his power and the fact that he can get away with this shit", she then starts to laugh, and deep down he knows he's so fucking dead and it's going to take a lot to calm her down, if that's even possible.
"You have a lot to say for someone who doesn't have a place in my life to even say such a thing. You should know what that car meant to me, the fact that it was only materialistic has no meaning in this. He destroyed something of mine and sits untouched in whatever hole he crawled back into, laughing to himself because he knows things we don't, and that's dangerous. Not to mention we have a traitor amongst us who we still haven't found", she sternly replies.
There was no point in arguing, and although he never gave a shit about anyone else's opinion, he cared about hers. Her insults drove a knife in his heart that twisted deeper just by the look she gave him. Like he wasn't shit, as if he didn't matter to her, and it hurt so much worse to know that she meant what she said.
Luckily, Jimin cuts in before his sister can continue bullying her ex, "We'll find him, we will. We just need time."
That earns a scoff from the white-haired man, "Time we don't have."
Ignoring his little comment, her brother falls silent, everyone's attention on him as they wait for something, anything that could help the situation. After all, he knows him best, or perhaps second best.
"Taemin was always one to put on a show, so it's not too surprising that he's done something like this. Going to extreme lengths such as breaking into the underground sector and blowing up cars in public to make a scene. I have a feeling that whatever his motives are behind this, he's going to make a big deal about it once it's revealed", Jimin elaborates, remembering how the man used to be when he worked under him years ago.
"What do you think he'll do? Ask to meet with us somewhere just to flex his power?", the consigliere asks, running a hand through his hair with a distressed sigh, already not liking how much danger everyone was in, especially Runa.
"He did that often in the past. Whenever someone wouldn't pay their debts to him, he'd meet with them and either kidnap and torture them, or just kill them on the spot. He exaggerates for sure", he explains, making the older man shake his head and massage his aching temples.
"And there's also the case of this supposed traitor", Jimin adds once more, "I don't think he's pulling our leg with this one. He knows too much to not be getting inside information."
"Everyone in this room is ruled out, but other than that, we need to be careful what information we put out and what gets heard by our men", the mafia boss continues, making it clear that everyone needed to be on their toes and remember to keep things as secret as possible.
"It might be one of our gang leaders, someone higher up", Runa suggests, and her brother agrees.
"We'll start watching over them, recording where they go and tracking who they meet with. We'll find him before anything else can happen."
A menacing ring of the desk phone cuts their conversation and Jimin watches it with suspicion, picking it up after the fifth time, and everyone's eyes are trained on him.
"Hello?"
The room is quiet other than the muffling of a voice on the other side of the phone before Jimin responds to the caller, making direct eye contact with his sister, "We'll be there. All of us. No more games, Taemin."
As soon as the phone gets put back in the machine, Runa is the first to ask, "Does he want to meet with us or something?"
With one nod as a response, she raises a brow at Dong-Wook because of his earlier prediction which seemed to be ironic at the moment, and in return, he purses his lips and adjusts his suit.
"Yay, I just love being right", he sarcastically responds, not amused by this at all and Yoongi hides his small smirk by itching his nose so his hand covers his mouth.
"What time did he say?", she asks, and Jimin gives her a look, "Right now."
"Good, we can kill him and get this done and over with", she stands up in a rush, her bodyguard doing the same but as she approaches the door, Jimin's voice stops her.
"It's not going to be that easy", he warns, making her eyes roll as she turns back around to him with indifference.
"The hell it isn't. We meet with him, get your men to surround the place and when you give a signal, we take him and his men out. Simple."
Jimin's eyebrows pull into a frown, "No, it's going to be a lot more difficult than that, trust me. Taemin is smart and no matter how angry you are, you can't forget that."
A disturbing laugh escapes her lips, almost mocking, "Are you afraid of him? Is that what this is?"
Jimin shakes his head, "No, but if we make one wrong move at the wrong time, he could make things a lot more complicated than they already are. Exposing our relationship could make the Min family and our men question our loyalties and what happened that night at the gala. We don't need anyone digging up the past and uncovering our secrets."
He continues, "There's a reason why I've kept my identity hidden for so long, to make sure you're safe as well as I. Without us, without you, this city would fall apart and gangs would run wild in the streets, destroying everything in their path and claiming territory. Not to mention the casualties of innocent people that would surely get the government involved."
She argues, "Exactly, we might as well kill him while we have a chance. No one knows where this fucker is and now that we have an opportunity to take him out, we should take it before he disappears", Runa argues, and Jimin slams his fist against the table with a harsh bang that resounded in the room, making her lips press together.
"I said no! I've heard enough of this Runa. When we meet with him, I will do the talking so you don't get killed. This is personal, I know him and you don't", his voice gets low as he realizes the situation is starting to get to both of them, "I want to kill him just as much as you do. But he's a difficult man, and regardless of the power we have, we still have weaknesses and he won't hesitate in exploiting them."
"Jimin the next thing he'll do is kill one of us. I can't let that happen", she responds, the worry on her face making everyone exchange glances.
"He won't kill us, we're too valuable and he's one to use something before discarding it. That's not something we need to worry about just yet, and once we find out his plan, we'll take it from there. I need you to listen to me on this", he pleads, and with much displeasure, she agrees with a simple nod.
"Fine, but if anything happens, don't say I didn't warn you. I'll be in my office", she concludes, exiting the room with Jungkook by her side, and as soon as she plops down in the leather chair, she takes off her heels and props her legs up on the desk.
Jungkook sat in one of the leather seats, taking notice of how aggravated she was and it was understandable. Taemin was someone who's been a mystery for so long and now that he was revealed, he's even more dangerous than they could've thought. It was the fearlessness, how he now had the power of the Yakuza in his hands and God knows who else worked for him.
In the amount of time he had gotten to know her, he knew what that car meant. She was attached to it, similar to how a child latches onto a safety blanket. It was the memories she had, the feeling of freedom whenever she could drive away from her problems and feel alive when the windows were down and the air blew through her hair.
He could also understand why she was worried about one of them getting hurt, including him. Taemin was unpredictable and had a lot of power for someone who had both Taehyung and Dori in his hands, both sharing similar traits to the man. He was sly, smart, and worst of all, he knew who the traitor was and caused distrust among them all, making it easy for him to sneak in when they were at their weakest and question everyone who worked for them.
"I'm so fucking pissed right now. I swear to God, I've never wanted to blow someone's brains out this much. Other than my father of course", she adds in, turning the chair to face him with an empty look on her face.
"I know. But Jimin is right, if we aren't careful, one of us might get hurt. We can't afford that right now, especially since this traitor hasn't been brought to light and we need all the resources we can get", he calmly responds, making her huff.
"I'm too impatient", she grumbles.
In response, he raises his eyebrows with a knowing look on his face, "I know that as well. He'll get what's coming to him."
"Will he?", she questioned, aggravated and overthinking their conversation earlier to try and decipher any hints as to who this traitor was, but she was blind as they all were.
"I'll make sure he does", his reassurance does wonders for her and the confidence in his voice reminds her that no matter what goes down, if this is a trap, he's never leaving her side.
"I'm sure you will", she hums, closing her eyes and trying her best to compose her emotions because it wasn't making anything better.
"I have a suggestion", his voice makes her eyes open and the eager look on her face tells him she's listening.
"Let's fight."
Immediately, she frowns in confusion and looks at him dumbly, "Huh?"
He stands and readjusts his trench coat, smoothing it down with his gloved hands, "You and me in the training room. Let's go."
Before she can question his motives and protest, he walks out the door and she goes after him, not bothering to put her heels back on as they silently descend the stairs and go down the hall into the training room, where the floor was matted and equipment was put in place to be used, such as swords displayed on the wall, gloves and safety gear.
As soon as he takes off his boots as well as his gloves, and puts his coat on one of the benches near the wall, she confusedly steps onto the mat with him waiting for her to approach him in the middle of the room, his arms folded against his back.
"What are we doing, Jungkook?", she asks while standing a few inches away from him, staring up into his beady eyes.
"Hit me", he says as if it meant nothing, and she looks at him like he'd grown two heads.
"What?"
"Hit me", he then circles her slowly, and before she knows it, he catches her off guard, sweeping her off her feet so she falls to the floor, her back hitting the mat with a force that makes her heave.
But in an instant, she got up and huffed at him as he continued to move around her, "I'm frustrated and not in the mood to-"
"Perfect timing then", he says nonchalantly, stopping on her right side as he catches her glare, "I need to know what you're capable of. I've heard things about you, things that I wouldn't wish to repeat. I want to see how good you supposedly are."
She scoffs, "You know I can fight, don't question my abilities, old man."
"Do I? I've never seen you with my own two eyes. Seeing is believing. So make me believe you're a good fighter. Hurt me any way you can", he replies, wanting her to let loose.
Her teasing smile told him she wasn't taking this seriously, "Do you have a pain kink or something? I don't think this is the time to-"
He cuts her off by knocking her down once again, trapping her on the floor with his hands holding her wrists above her head and she glares fiercely up at him, her cheeks red as she tries to push away those feelings fluttering in her chest at this position.
"Try and hit me, if you can", he says with a taunting glint in the void of his eyes, getting up and letting her stand to her feet.
"You really want to fight me? What if I accidentally hurt you?", she asks, making sure he knew what this would entail and that meant her not holding back if he so wished for it.
That daunting expression he wore confirmed what she already suspected, he was purposefully trying to make her lose control, "I highly doubt that."
With a chuckle, she smiles tightly and walks towards him, accepting his challenge, "Alright, old man. We'll see if you can still kick it."
She lunged forward to grab him but he swiftly moved to the side, making her stumble before she attempted to elbow him since he stood behind her. He grabbed her arm and spun her around, grabbing her neck and pushing her to the ground, her back hitting the mat. Before he could make another move while she was down, she rolled over and got up, tackling him to the floor and he stumbled for a second, grabbing her leg and tossing her aside so she rolled onto the mat.
"Fucking hell", she grumbles at the impact, and when he approaches her once again, she gets to her feet and punches him, but he catches her fist and sends her flying back a few feet.
"You're pathetic", he taunts while slowly approaching her, knowing he had succeeded in pissing her off when she grabs his arm and flips him over her crouched form, climbing on top of him.
He quickly recovers and flips her back onto the mat, standing above her and grabbing her leg while he drags her across the floor until she wiggles away and jumps on his back, attempting to take him down, but he bends over so she falls over his head and onto the floor. A groan leaves her lips and he takes a deep breath before pulling her up and spinning her around, making no room to escape when he presses her against the wall and puts her in a chokehold.
It's a tense moment, both of them breathing heavily and his front presses against her back, leaving nothing to imagine. Her heart pulsed when she could feel him panting in her ear, his lips so close to ghosting her skin that she froze when he squeezes his arm around her neck before loosening his grip, making sure not to hurt her.
"Got you", he whispers in her ear with the determination to win.
Instead, she kicks off the wall so he stumbles back and she turns around when his arm disappears from her neck, grabbing his shirt and kicking him to the ground with a flushed face now that he's on his knees, looking up at her with an intensity that makes her feel satisfaction when he doesn't make another move.
"I refuse to hurt you", she breathes out, her face red from the amount of energy she's used and her heart freezes when for the first time, the corner of his lips curl up into a smirk and he catches her in a weak moment.
"What if I begged you to? Would you do it then? Because that fight was too easy, you're holding back", he comments, still panting on his knees and she mentally stutters at that smirk on his face, it was taunting and making her head spin with insanity.
"So are you. I know who you are as a fighter, and that means I'd never be able to trap you like this. I would've never been able to flip you over my back and pin you to the ground", she retorts, crossing her arms over her pounding chest that didn't cease when he stood to his feet and looked down at her with amusement clear on his face, and she felt her legs go numb.
"You're right. It's because I let you think you have the upper hand", he steps dangerously close, close enough that if he leaned down just a bit, his lips would touch hers and she felt hypnotized, so much so that she didn't expect his next move.
"Your legs are weak, aren't they?", he muses, the smirk vanishing within a second as he grabs the side of her neck and tosses her to the ground, making her choke from the force that knocked the breath out of her lungs.
As he stood over her flushed figure, his face was nonchalant and he folded his buff arms across his chest, exuding intimidation that made her sit up and wonder what his next move would be.
"I see it's easy to distract you", he comments, raising an eyebrow at her when she rolls her eyes with a sigh.
"Only you could stun me enough to put me on the ground", she retorts, standing in front of him as he cocks his head to the side while scanning her from head to toe.
"Could I stun you enough to get you on your knees?", he replies, making her breath hitch at the innuendo she didn't expect from him, but she quickly claps back.
"You don't have to do much to make that happen. Just say please and I'll happily do it for you", she raises her brows suggestively, and when he bites his lower lip and tilts his head down to meet her at eye level, she's stunned once again at how bold he's become.
"Please?"
Not wanting to seem pathetic and thirsty, she bitterly laughs in his face and walks away, "I think we've fought enough. No need to go to such lengths to prove you're the best. I know you are", she sits on the bench and watches him put on his coat, gloves, and boots right next to her.
"I could tell you weren't trying to hurt me", he comments after some time of silence, lacing up his shoes.
"And I could tell you did this because you wanted to get my mind off of what happened."
Seeing as he couldn't deny that, he finished tying up his laces and stood up from the chair, smoothing back his messy black hair that had fallen out of its styled place, "I want you to have a clear head when we meet him. I hate seeing you worried. It annoys me."
She scoffs and stands up, pushing back her hair and wiping the sheer coat of sweat on her forehead while watching him fix his hair in the mirror that covered the wall, "It annoys you? You get annoyed with everything, old man. It's because you're-"
"Don't you dare finish that idiotic sentence", he sends her a sharp glare and already knows by her defiant gaze that she'll do so anyways.
"I was just going to say-"
"Would you shut up if I kissed you again?", he groaned, not too thrilled by whatever mischief was going on in her mind, and upon seeing her mouth fall open slightly at his blunt question, he smirked the tiniest bit and began walking away.
"There we go."
💎🗡️💎🗡️💎🗡️
Hours later, a line of vehicles drove down the road onto the pavement near one of the old warehouses owned by the Min family, which was odd and didn't go unnoticed by them. Runa and Jungkook were driven in one vehicle, with Jimin and Dong-Wook in the first. As about 50 men filed out of the vans once parked strategically, the siblings led the way as Jungkook stayed close by her side along with Cookie who walked in front of her.
Guns were loaded, and the men knew their priorities if this went up in flames. Keep the siblings alive no matter what. As they filed in the door, the sight of Taemin sitting in a chair placed in the middle of the large building, along with an empty chair beside him, one in front and about 50 men standing behind him all with guns in their hands, made it clearer than ever that this wouldn't end peacefully, but they hoped for the best even with how bad things were looking.
"Look who decided to show up", he grinned, he knew they would keep their word and Jimin kept the same expression as his sister did, sitting down across from the man who looked pretty much the same, other than the addition of tattoos.
"I'm surprised you wanted to meet, especially considering what happened", Jimin responds, and Taemin hums with a pleased look on his face when he sees the eyes of the Kang heir boring into his own.
"I wanted you all to know how serious I am. I figured destroying something that important would show a sign that this isn't a game to me. I'm doing this for a reason", he says while crossing one leg over the other, calm as ever but the smug look on his face made her chest burn with rage.
"So? Care to tell us the story? I've got time to spare for your theatrics", her brother retorts, wanting to cut to the chase and figure out why after so many years he's popped up out of the blue.
The opposing man takes a moment to look at who's here, his smile remaining when his eyes meet Runa's, her bodyguard's, Dong-Wook's, and of course, the dog who growls.
"Aren't you missing somebody?", he muses.
Indeed they were, a certain white-haired male was supposed to show up and yet after ten missed calls, they gave up and decided that he didn't necessarily need to be here to make a statement, so Jimin just shrugged it off due to the lack of relevance he thought it had on the situation.
"He doesn't need to be here. You have our company and that's more than enough", he spits out harshly, his snake-like eyes scanning the man he once trusted with disgust.
But with Taemin clicking his tongue playfully while shaking his head, it makes his fist ball up, "No no, let's wait for him. He plays an important role in this."
A scoff from the woman makes his head turn to her, "How so?"
With the monstrous look in his eyes, he chuckles when the sound of a heavy door clanking open on the opposite side draws their attention to the man who enters.
"Yoongi, so glad you could make it", Taemin said while turning around to the male who approached them with indifference.
He ignored the deadly looks given by all of them as he sat down next to the man who patted his shoulder with an exclaim of satisfaction when he saw the looks on their faces. The confusion, the shock, and the anger settled in as they realized it was him all along.
"Anything thing for you, boss", he retorts, smirking over at the bodyguard that clenches his jaw and narrows his eyes with a shake of his head.
His expression falls when he sees the look on Runa's face, particularly the tears welling in her eyes that remain wide and her lips parted in shock, her brother only grimacing and scoffing as he runs his fingers through his hair.
"You? Are you fucking kidding me right now?", he spits out angrily, holding himself back from slapping that smirk off of his face.
"You'll understand why", is all he says before Taemin clears his throat to gain their attention, and when Yoongi looks back at her, she instantly averts her gaze to the man beside him, unable to say anything at the moment from the disappointment she felt lodging in her throat.
"Now that I have your undivided attention, I'm sure you are all wondering why he's sitting beside me", Taemin never stops smiling as he directs this towards everyone, including Dong-Wook who had to take out a cigarette and smoke due to the annoyance he felt pulsing in his veins, something he knew he couldn't act on just yet.
The bodyguard and consigliere share the same look, both enraged that they expected something like this but decided to give the man the benefit of the doubt because of Runa. To think he'd never hurt her, that was most foolish of them.
"I guess I should start from the beginning when I left my position as one of your captains", he directs towards the male sitting in front of him who looks all but calm now that the traitor sits so close, just within his grasp.
"I had wanted to find my parents, since I didn't know who they were and had plenty of time to do so. I felt the urge to, a strong desire that I couldn't resist. Every night I would lie awake wondering what happened to them, wondering why I had to grow up in a mafia organization that tortured me every single day until I was able to escape", his smile fades and he looks dead, still not over his past and the way he was brought up that had scarred him for life.
"When I met you Jimin, you saved me. No matter the bad blood between us, I won't deny your kindness and confidence in my abilities gave me a reason to live. You were one of the only people to show me mercy at an age where I despised everyone because what I had gone through made me not want to trust anybody. And yet I couldn't help but trust you, that's why when I had my taste of power, I couldn't get enough of it."
"I became addicted, and I knew I was meant for more. No matter how much I suffered, I had a higher purpose and when you didn't ever allow my input, I knew I wouldn't get anywhere being your lapdog. I was working for you and I don't do well with authority as you know", he chuckles, the look of reminiscence on his face that doesn't ease anyone's expressions.
"When I escaped you, I had decided to find out who I was. I never truly knew that, until I felt a purpose and wanted to know more about myself, and to the extent, my family. I then found out my mother was but a simple woman, a shop owner. She had eyes on a certain man that always visited a few times each year, and she had foolishly fallen in love."
"Like an idiot, she got pregnant by him and tried to convince him to stay, only he loved another and didn't want his dirty little secret to come to light. So once I was born, he killed my mother and I was put in an orphanage in another country. I was raised there until I was about five, and then an organization under the Russian mafia took a few of us and made us fight to survive. By the age I was 15, I had already killed 10 boys just so I could live in fear and starvation every day."
"No matter how bad it got, I never quit. But skipping past all that, I found out my father was a mob boss, living with his wife and son. The picture-perfect family", he bitterly smiles, "I was the outcast, the survivor, and I would always be the black sheep. Until I decided to take back my rights as the man's first son, his true heir."
The motives behind everything, how they purposefully waited all this time so he could reveal himself after years of hiding in the shadows, everything all at once. The air felt like it was vibrating, and Runa could already envision the blood on her hands. She was going to kill him. Or else everything would be destroyed.
"I'm the Min heir, the bastard son of Min Young-Jae. I'm Yoongi's older, half-brother. I'm taking everything I was ever owed, my birthright as his first son. The Min empire", he says, letting those heavy words weigh on everyone in this room and Jimin doesn't look surprised, although he is and so is everybody else.
Runa finally speaks up regardless of her brother's earlier warning not to, and she only looks at Yoongi, "Is that why you did this?"
The man stays silent, his gaze only softening when he looks at her, regardless of how disgusted she looks by him. Taemin's laugh makes her eyes move to him, and at that moment, both brothers know that they've officially started a war.
"I might be his brother, but he's doing this for you, Runa. The main reason he wants me in power is so he can have you. That's been his goal all along, to make you understand that he'll do anything for you. Even if you hate him for it", Taemin explains, making Dong-Wook smash the cigarette beneath his shoe with a roll of his eyes as he points his finger accusingly at the white-haired male who kept his eyes on her the whole time to see if maybe she'd show understanding.
"If he loved her, he'd never betray us for you. There's a reason why you were discarded. Someone as crazy as you can't run an empire, and your father knew the mistake he made when he had another son. Both of you are a disgrace to your name", he spits out angrily, wanting to break both of their faces in.
"A disgrace? Don't forget you're a traitor too. Runa and I have something in common", he then turns to the woman who looks back at him with a scowl, "You and I were the ones discarded by our fathers. The ones that were neglected, abused, and underestimated. Our mothers were viciously murdered by men that didn't deserve us nor them. And yet look at you now", he breathes out, almost envious of her and what she had that amounted to admiration.
"I know why Yoongi fell in love with you. It's not because of your looks, or the power and money you have, it's because you know who you are and won't let anyone take that away from you. You killed your father and avenged your mother and brother, and you can't hate Yoongi for helping me do the same. You can't hate him for being reunited with his true family when you too know what it's like to find out about a sibling you never knew about due to the lies you were fed your whole life", he says, wishing she'd empathize, and although she did, she refused to be like him.
"You've done too much to earn my respect or empathy. Your men, Dori and Taehyung both deserved to die. And you think you can just sneak on in like this and pretend we're the same? You think after the shit you've pulled that you can sit idly on a throne with me by your side as an ally?", she shook her head at his audacity, her hands shaking from how much she was holding back.
"And you", she turns to Yoongi who meets her accusatory gaze, "I hate that they were right all along about you. Both Jungkook and Dong-Wook told me to be careful, and yet I stupidly thought that you'd be selfless for once and never do something like this to me."
She steps forward, the Doberman doing so as well and the look of betrayal in her eyes makes his heart feel heavy, "After all we've been through, after the years of friendship we had, you're so willing to flush that down the drain for a man who's using you?"
"You're no better, Kang Runa. You've used me in ways that have broken me, and yet you dare look at me with betrayal when you've played with my heart and hurt me over and over again just because you enjoyed it?", he retorts, this time scoffing at her and she clenches her teeth together, feeling bitter because in some twisted way, that was the truth.
"I guess in disappointment we are perfectly matched", he concludes, looking away from her and toward the ground as he waits for his brother to finish.
When she steps forward again, Taemin pulls out his gun and shoots her in the shoulder, making her stumble back, and like a movie playing in slow motion, everyone draws their guns. Without wasting a second or thinking about what he was about to do, Jungkook's hand flew to his gun and shot Taemin in the shoulder, causing the male to groan and his gun fell to the floor.
"Goddamnit!", he yells, clutching his bleeding arm while attempting to pick up his gun.
The Doberman growls ferociously and leaps towards the man who shot her, but his reflexes were too quick, and with an agonizing cry leaving the poor dog, she laid on the ground, a bullet in her chest as she slowly began to bleed out. Her beady eyes looked at the woman who stood in shock, her palm turning red from the wound that hurt nothing like her heart did. Her piercing scream shattered the tension and sent shivers down everyone's spine.
"What have you done!?"
Bullets started to fly from both sides, bodies hitting the ground as the brothers escaped and Jimin and Dong-Wook fought alongside their men, and only when Jungkook drags her away does she fight and try to escape while her dog gets farther and farther out of reach.
"I can't leave her! I can't leave her there! Let me go!", Runa screams, trying to escape her bodyguard who takes her in his arms and pulls her away from the dog's body and keeps her safe behind the crates that bullets shot through every few seconds, not a moment of silent as the piercing sounds ricocheted in the warehouse.
"Let me go! Let me go!", she fights against him and tries to crawl to the dog now lying cold in the middle of the room.
"Get her out of here!", Jimin yells to some of his men, including Jungkook while he decides to stay along with Dong-Wook until this is over and they win.
"No! No! Let me go! I have to save her! Let me save her!", she cries, fighting against Jungkook who drags her out of the warehouse with men surrounding them as a ring of protection.
"She's gone, Runa. She's gone", he repeats so she can stop, as they get in the back of the van and leave, the sounds of bullets dissipate and only her heavy breathing can be heard.
He held her waist and now she wasn't crying anymore, her chest heaved and she couldn't control her hands shaking. So much had happened, the betrayal of Yoongi, the revelation of his secret brother now trying to take his family's empire and run it himself, all the while she had lost yet another precious thing.
To hear her agonizing whines of pain and to watch her fade away while bleeding out was an excruciating pain she'd never experienced before and now that she had, she could barely breathe or function properly without wanting to destroy anything in her sight.
"I'm sorry, Runa", he whispers in her ear, and although she heard it, she couldn't embrace his comfort or the soothing sound of his voice that remained steady in this chaotic situation.
Before she knew it, they were back at the mansion and he quickly led her into the bathroom to fix her shoulder. Luckily, there was an exit wound and Jungkook had medical knowledge due to his last job, so cleaning and stitching the wound up was no hassle.
What was difficult was trying to calm her down as she now destroyed her entire office, yelling as he stood by the door and let her blow off steam, which meant throwing books, smashing her computer to bits, and beating the desk with a metal bat.
"Fuck!", she yells, throwing the bat down and falling onto the floor.
Her body shook violently, pure rage was the only thing she could feel coursing her veins along with adrenaline that made her sanity slip and had her spiraling out of control.
"I'm gonna kill him. I'm gonna fucking kill him! I'll rip out his eyes, I'll fucking squeeze the life out of that fucker!", she screams, her neck veins popping out and her eyes wide with disbelief when she looks up at the man who waits for her to settle down.
Losing her dog in such a violent manner had her chest feeling hollow. Like her heart was being stabbed repeatedly with brutal speed and her lungs wouldn't stop heaving. She struggled to breathe, her legs weak from the stinging sensation of betrayal and grief that felt like poison.
Tears run down her face but she doesn't sob, she's too angry, and now all she can feel is bloodlust, "I'm gonna kill him. I'm gonna kill them all."
She mumbles those words repeatedly, and to see her disoriented and unstable was truly a terrifying sight. It made Jungkook feel sick because, after that explosion, he was sure the bullet would hurt like a bitch due to the aggressive use of her arms, meaning smashing everything into pieces.
He kneels beside her, putting a hand on her back to let her know she wasn't alone and that he was there. Truly, he was stunned and to see her break down like this again made his heart feel heavy, seeing her in so much pain that all she could do was scream and destroy anything to let it out just so it wasn't caged inside of her.
"I'm here, Runa. I'm here", he says gently, hoping she won't go crazy again but as soon as Jimin rushes into the office with a certain look on his face, she can do nothing but stare blankly at him and await even worse news.
"They took Dong-Wook."
Those words tore her apart for the last time, too much had happened in such little time that she couldn't process it all, and the pain was so excruciating and mind-numbing that she silently cried, unable to find her voice as Jimin ran to her side and held her in his arms, his eyes watery at the sight of his sister who looked unrecognizable. Before she knew it, her heart felt like it had stopped because of the agony, and she passed out in her brother's arms who frantically checked for her pulse.
"She's ok. She just needs some time. This is too much at once", he whispers, eyes glazed with tears as he kisses his sister's head.
Seeing Jimin unhinged was unexpected, but considering his consigliere was gone and Runa had pushed herself too far, it was understandable. Taemin was getting to their heads, and he had to keep the siblings in line. They had too much to lose, and whether or not they would admit it, Jungkook knows they're afraid. They've lost so much, and they can't lose anymore.
Yoongi was a traitor, her dog was dead, Dong-Wook had been kidnapped and held God knows where, and Jungkook had to stay strong, keep her safe while also help her brother maintain his sanity before he lost it completely and did something he might regret due to blinding anger.
"I'll put her in bed and watch over her. You need to take a moment and get your head together before you go out and search for him", Jungkook says in his usual composed tone of voice, and the mafia boss presses a gentle kiss to her temple before putting her in his arms as he stood up.
"Keep my sister safe. I'll find Dong-Wook and bring him back", he instructs and with a nod from the bodyguard, he makes his way into the office and makes a few calls to gather his men.
"Find my consigliere no matter the cost. I don't care who you have to kill, find him and bring the Doberman back to us in one piece."
The phone clicks once placed back on the machine, his guns fully loaded as he goes downstairs to leave and takes his Ferrari into the city where he meets with the gangs. Hundreds of men comb the city and its surrounding radius to find the man, and hours later, nothing has been found and with a heavy heart, he returns home to his sister who resembles something of a ghost.
"We haven't found him yet, but we will", he says with a tight-lipped smile, trying to feel positive although his heart was squeezing at the dead look she returned as she got up from the bed, ignoring the pain in her shoulder.
"I'll find him, and I want my dog back now", her cold voice freezes the blood rushing in his veins, and he sighs when he watches her leave his office with Jungkook by her side.
He felt like a failure, and he slumped in his chair, tossing his head back while he tried to think of any way he could solve this hot mess they were in. The lack of patience he had made him feel aggravated and he released a pained sigh, the nightmare from earlier replaying in his mind. Her screams, the blood, the bullets. He wondered sometimes if this would be worth it. After all these years of trying to find her, if she'd be taken away from him again. He couldn't lose her. He couldn't live with himself if he did.
