It seems as if the universe was spinning in the right direction lately. Everything went according to plan and as Jimin took the time to search through the information on the hard drive, it was quite convenient that in only two weeks, the annual gala would take place, giving the perfect opportunity to publicly execute their target.
The satisfied smirk on his plump lips was going to be difficult to wipe off. This was meant to be, and once he was notified the rest of his men came over from Russia, he had more than enough to start business here in New York and prepare for war if that's what had to happen.
Taking out Min-Su would be easy, he already had the schematics for the building so he could position his men and take out the guards. And there was a perfect elevated floor that wasn't ever used except for aesthetic purposes in the main ball room. Bingo. That was the perfect angle to set up a sniper rifle and take out the mafia boss without getting caught and having more than one ensured escape route.
Every piece of the puzzle was coming together quite nicely, so once he thoroughly planned out everything, he called a meeting in his office with Runa, Jungkook, Dong-Wook, and their newest addition Yoongi who showed up only five minutes late and got the side eye from the consigliere.
But once everyone has their attention on him, he explains why Jungkook would be the perfect man for the job. His skill set was impressive considering the years of training and experience he's had as a hitman, and oh the irony. Runa seems to like the idea, and just one hopeful smile from her makes Jungkook agree.
There was no better man to do the honors. He had the most accurate shot out of everyone and seeing as he had the most knowledge of using sniper rifles and disassembling them quick enough to escape, he was the most logical option. Once Jimin explains every step as to what happens and everyone's key role, he dismisses them.
Although they had plenty of time, they needed to make sure this was going to happen no matter what. No cancellations, no surprise visits, nothing could go wrong or else they might not have this perfect opportunity again and Min-Su's death will end up messy and causing more chaos than it originally would.
Since Jimin had finished making a few calls, he sat in his chair and leaned his head back, taking a moment to let everything soak in and his sister popped into mind. Just the thought of having her here by his side after many years of patience and hard work made a heartwarming smile grace his lips. Then, like the genius he is, he gets the perfect idea.
As he walks down the hall to her room with a pep in his step, he smooths down his favorite purple suit that he intentionally just changed into and knocks upon her door thrice.
"Runa? Are you busy?", he calls out, hoping he wasn't interrupting important business.
When he hears her feet pad against the floor and the door swings open to reveal her relaxed expression, he sighs in relief, "What's up?"
"I was wondering if maybe you'd like to go to the mall with me. I need to pick out a new suit for the gala and I'd like for you to come with me so I could buy your things as well."
The consideration makes her melt inside and she grins, intrigued by the gesture, "I'm not busy and that sounds like a great idea. Just let me get-"
Jimin holds up his hand to stop her from making her way to Jungkook's room next door and he leans down to speak lowly, "How about just you and I go out? Hm? I'll have men watching us nearby but you won't even notice they're there."
Immediately her expression morphs into skepticism because she knows Jungkook would have an absolute fit if he knew she left anywhere without him, especially because his duty was to be by her side always.
"I don't know about that. He'll be pissed if I don't tell him", she whispers back, glancing over at the door in case he magically appeared at the worst time.
Her brother shrugs playfully with a mischievous glint in his eyes, "I'm sure he won't mind if you're with me. Come on...please? I'm sure he wouldn't want to interfere with our sibling bonding."
She seems to be in thought and stares at the hand he lends for her to take, wiggling his eyebrows and silently begging for her to agree. With a sigh, she nods her head, and Jimin cheers mentally.
"Just let me get my purse."
She shuts the door for a moment and he patiently waits in the living room until he hears her come down and sees she changed into a simple sweat outfit since they'd be trying on clothes. After she put on her high-top sneakers and slung her purse over her shoulder, they made their way out to one of the three cars he had. Today, he chose the red Ferrari, and much to her surprise, he let her drive it.
"You seem ecstatic", Jimin chuckles at the gleam in her eyes as she goes over the speed limit(which he suggests of course) and swerves the corners of the empty road with a giggle leaving her lips.
"You have no idea. This car is so smooth. I love it. Jungkook always drives my car so I'm stuck being a passenger princess", she grumbles, slowing down once she realizes they're getting close to the city and he laughs at the look on her face.
"He does it for your safety."
If anyone saw the look on Jimin's face, no one would ever believe that this was the same man who cut off people's arms. He was a terrifying man, someone no one would expect to ever see smiling seeing as he never did when conducting business.
Even the tone of his voice was completely different. It was nice to let go for a little while, to not have that frown etched on his face along with disappointment or anger bubbling in his gut that would explode when triggered. She brought out the rare, good side of him that only one other person had seen before her, and that was Dong-Wook.
When they get to the mall, he stays close by her side and looks around, making sure his men have followed them. Once he sees some of them around, his restless mind eases and he focuses on bonding with his sister. Things were going to get hectic so he wanted to take this opportunity to get closer with her just in case, by any means, something unexpected happened and he would never have this chance again.
He tried his best to focus solely on her, and soon the negative thoughts fade from his mind and he's trying on a few tailored suits from a shop he frequently visits, showing off his impeccable style that Runa either hyped up or gave him a look that said 'get that shit off now'.
Once he tries on the last suit, gaining her approval with a thumbs up and a nod showing she was impressed by how princely he looked, he purchases the items and walks out of the shop with a bag in hand.
"Now it's your turn. Makeup, jewelry, shoes, dresses. Whatever you want I'll get it for you", Jimin says and her chest is flooded with warmth from how endearing he was and the way he held her hand so innocently, almost like they were kids again.
"Yay", she says quietly with a shy smile, trying to contain her eagerness when she sees a shop that catches her eye, and upon noticing the look on her face, he pulls her inside.
One of the store associates greets them, "Hello! Are you two looking for anything particular today?", the young lady kindly asks.
"Not really. Just browsing", Runa replies while looking around at the variety of dresses that made her heart race with anticipation to just dive right in since she was an insane shopper.
"Alright then. If you need anything, call me over", the associate says, walking over to the register.
Jimin turned to the left where Runa previously stood beside him and when realizing she disappeared, he frowned and began looking around until he saw the top of her head from a distance, he chuckled at her impatience and walked over, hoping to aid in her search.
"Was there a specific color you were looking to wear? I could help look around, make myself useful", Jimin says with a grin, and Runa hums, concentrating on the dresses she's searching through on the rack.
"I want to wear purple, but I don't want a dress with too many gems or designs. Something elegant but not too basic", she says, and as a fan of fashion, he sets out to look for something he thinks she might want to try on.
After getting her size, he browses the other side of the store and as soon as his eyes land upon a certain dress, he gasps quietly at the stunning design and smirks to himself, knowing he got a winner. He strides over to his sister who has a frown of concentration on her face, slightly getting upset because she still hasn't found anything that stood out to her yet.
"I found this. What do you think?", Jimin lifts the dress so she can fully see it and she exclaims with an approving nod.
"That's beautiful. I think I'll go try it on right now", she takes the hanger from him and he follows her to the back where the dressing rooms are.
While he sits down on the bench outside the few changing stalls, he hums a song quietly and checks his phone to see if he received any messages. He doesn't notice her emerge since he's deep in thought, but once he hears someone clearing their throat, he glances up and immediately takes in the sight of his baby sister with his mouth agape.
She giggles at the stunned expression on his face, twirling around and taking his silence as a good sign, "You like?"
Jimin immediately nods, clapping his hands and hyping up his sister who looks flustered from the attention she's getting and shushes him, "I guess this is the right dress."
Runa turns to the full body-length mirror on the wall to her right, and immediately she falls in love all over again just like the first time she saw how she looked in the mirror inside the stall, but this mirror was wider and gave an angle as to what the dress looked like in brighter lighting as opposed to the dim light fixtures above the changing rooms.
"Yeah, this is the one", she concluded with an exhilarated expression, already anticipating the night she can wear this.
She changes and once she throws on her purse, Jimin takes the dress to pay for it and once he does, they walk down the hall to look inside other stores. After shopping for a few more hours, they make their way to his Ferrari parked near the entrance. It's silent as they ride back but it makes both of them feel comfortable to be in each other's presence, with no tension or awkwardness at all and Runa loved how natural it was to be around him.
Even though they hadn't known each other that long and had moved quickly along with the plan once they started working together, it felt familiar. He was truly her family, and she was more at home at the estate than she ever was living at the mansion. He was welcoming on all fronts, even allowing her ex-boyfriend to join the team just because she suggested since Yoongi was a viable partner to have.
All her life, her father ignored her most of the time if he wasn't scolding her for making decisions he didn't agree with, even though she had her own business to handle and was an adult. He always argued with her in everything, questioning and doubting every thought she had, and dealing with that for so many years was exhausting. With Jimin, she never felt like that for even a second.
Her older brother was open to her ideas, he sought her opinion and advice, making sure she felt important and that she knew she mattered to him and the business. It made her feel some type of way to have that approval, to have that recognition and respect even when she knew she didn't need that because she had herself. To have that, it was reassuring and made her feel protected, like she could count on him and he'd be there for her whenever she needed.
"Are you nervous?", Jimin asks out of the blue, snapping her out of a trance, and before she could look confused and ask what he meant, he continued.
"About the gala. About killing him", he finishes.
She had to think about the question for a second. Was she nervous? Afraid? She didn't think so, and because of how long she's been working in this field she didn't have any reason to be other than she was conspiring against her father, but she barely viewed him as that. If anything, he was privileged to call her his daughter, his heir.
"I don't think so. I honestly don't know what to feel except relief. I've imagined killing him before, I never threatened him or anything, but there were many times when I just wanted to...", she trails off, not saying another word.
Jimin could see she was deep in thought, expecting to have an answer to describe her emotions but she didn't have any. This was just their way of life, not something they dwelled upon much because work is work, and a part of that was killing her father.
"Don't worry, I understand. We're so used to this that oftentimes we don't even blink at our decisions until it's done and we have time to process it. I guess the question I'm trying to ask is will you regret this afterwards?"
Immediately, without having to think for even a second, she shakes her head, "Definitely not. I don't forgive or forget and until he's gone I won't ever move on. He raped and killed our mother, he forced her to live like a prisoner and he made you watch. Not for one second have I thought about forgiveness or showing him mercy. That's not how I am and that's not how we are."
Jimin nods, satisfied with that answer, "That's good to hear. You don't want to know how many times I've seen people forgive monsters. We might be monsters but we don't do shit like that. I don't mess with women and children, I've only ever hurt men and that's not something that's going to change."
"Others don't agree. The Yakuza are involved with human trafficking and there's a reason why we aren't involved in that. Once Min-Su is gone, I'd advise you to break the alliance with them. Especially because they're involved with this drug lord that no one seems to be able to identify. Dori's a snake and it would be much more convenient for him to be gone", he says with that familiar frustrated look on his face, one that looked exactly like hers.
She was aggravated, because not only did they have to concentrate on assassinating her father, but they had to simultaneously investigate the Yakuza and send spies to Japan to see about this drug lord. It was a throbbing headache, and in many ways she's grateful to have met Jimin in all this, because with how dangerous this situation has become, she's not sure if she'd be able to do this without her brother.
"I agree, and by withholding information like that from us, they're bound to be broken off. They can find another weapon supplier but I'm damn sure that's gonna be a struggle. Our weapons are the highest quality and anything else won't suffice, so that's gonna be a big blow to both their reputation and bank accounts. You can't protect what's yours with just your fists. I doubt Dori will learn his lesson, but he might create an alliance with the Triads just to spite us and cause commotion."
Jimin clicks his tongue, "No, the Chinese hate the Japanese. It's been that way for decades and there's a reason why they've never had an alliance. Both lack loyalty and Dori has dishonored the Yakuza's values time and time again. I think that if he's working with or for this drug lord, he's gonna kill Dori and take over. This mystery guy has deeper motives, I feel it in my bones."
Runa agrees, "Yeah, because why else would they risk betraying us and losing our line of supply for this guy? That means we might be in trouble."
Jimin just shrugs casually, not too worried at the moment since they were doing things one at a time, "We'll figure this out sooner or later and between the two of us, it won't be hard to take this guy out. He sounds smart, being able to keep his identity hidden all this time. Other than Dori, he must have some loyal, powerful men around him."
"It's almost like this guy knew we'd find out and want something done about it. Do you think he might have men on the inside? Because why is it Dori knew shit about my mother and was banded with Taehyung before handing him over to me?"
Jimin sighed, scratching his forehead, "People have said that this drug lord is somehow tied to me. I don't know how that's possible but maybe there's a traitor amongst us. It seems fitting that in only some time, you'll be running things and with your father out of the way and you gaining control, someone wants to either work alongside you or take what you have."
"Do you think they know about us? Our relations with each other?", Runa asks and Jimin only shakes his head, not liking that their theories were starting to make even more sense because he might've underestimated how bad this was.
"If they do, I hope nothing is exposed before the gala. If so, things will turn messy and your father might try and kill us", Jimin reluctantly says, not even wanting to speak it into being because God help them if someone finds out.
"Not might. He would if he ever found out. But he won't", she concluded positively with no doubt in her mind that everything would go according to plan.
Sure, along the way, there have been many mishaps, some traitors, and some attempted killings, but that was the life they've had ever since they were too young to understand.
Jimin respected her confidence, hell, he appreciated it so much because he was one to overthink, something she rarely did. If something happened, it happened.
She was a more 'have a plan but go with the flow if shit doesn't turn out right' kind of girl. He liked that a lot, how calm she could be and he knew that just like him, it was always the composed ones to watch out for.
"I think you're right. If he did know, we would still find a way to get the job done. I don't doubt that. I have to say it pleases me greatly to be alongside you. I've always awaited the day that this would happen, and now that it's here..."
Her mood shifts as well as his and she smiles fondly at her older brother, "It feels undeniably reassuring to have someone who's on your level. Your sister at that. It gives you some peace of mind having me around."
He looked impressed because she was indeed correct and he loved how easily she could read him, like he never had to say a word just for her to know how he was feeling. He's always wanted that, and that's why he appreciated how Dong-Wook was such an expert on reading people.
But it hit differently to have your sibling, who you've been apart from your whole life, build that connection with you. It makes his isolated heart warm up a bit and he can't help but chuckle at her intelligence.
"Indeed it does, Runa", he says while turning on the radio to play in the background.
When they're about ten minutes away, her phone buzzes and the message she receives fills her with dread.
Jeon: Kang Runa, where the hell are you?
Oh god, her heart started racing a million miles per second and she had chills going up her spine. It was never good when he used her full name, never. That meant he was all business, no fun and games, and no sarcasm.
She groaned and brushed her hair back, and the distressed look on her face caught a side glance from Jimin who was curious as to why her demeanor changed. Another notification rings through the silent car, and she swore her brother could hear her heartbeat.
Jeon: I'm not pleased that you snuck out with your brother. When you get here, you and I are going to have a confrontation. I'm disappointed in you
Ok, that fucking hurt. It hurt way more than she would've expected and liked it to, and the discomfort started to settle in her stomach. God, it felt like a thousand weights there, and her cheeks were flushed from stressing out. This was so out of character but she couldn't help how much he affected her.
Jimin was still wondering why she was reacting this way over messages. It must've been something serious and although he didn't want to pry, he was just like his sister and the curiosity won him over.
"Is everything good? You look like you're gonna scream or cry...or both."
She huffs and whines, "Jungkook's upset with me."
The silver-haired male resists the urge to smile so he pretends to itch his nose, his hand hiding his lower face as he speaks, "I didn't think he'd be that upset. I guess it's a good thing that he's overprotective. Considering recent events and all", he reasonably elaborates, but she shakes her head and stubbornly looks out the window with a frown.
"I'm a grown-ass adult. He might be older than me but he doesn't have to be up my ass all the time", she states, glaring out at the trees that pass them by as they get closer to the estate and the dread eats away at her guts, making her feel nauseous.
"Runa, you have to understand how much he worries for you. It's his job to always be there and you're supposed to tell him these things. But it is my fault. I shouldn't have convinced you to go without him. I'll apologize to him for that but-"
"Why do you think he's so overprotective? I mean I've never had a bodyguard that was like this before. Never."
Maybe she was a tad delusional, but she was starting to think that Jungkook cared for her. I know, she was laughing at that too. The thought of a man like him having a heart and some smidge of care for someone else?
Indeed laughable, but what else was there? Would he be so hellbent on staying by her side no matter what if he didn't? She needed a guy's honest opinion, and logically, she sought that out from her older brother.
In response to that oh-so-intriguing question, he looks over at her frustrated face with a glint of mischief in his eyes as he shrugs, "Jeon Jungkook is an extraordinary man and you are an extraordinary woman. I'm sure he's grown attached to you and cares for you since he is older and feels the need to be protective of you. It's his job after all and knowing the reputation he has, he excels at everything he does."
"So you think he just takes his job extremely seriously?"
Jimin deadpans, shaking his head a little at her obliviousness, but it was understandable. To think a heartless man could ever care for someone else after all his years of having no capability of that whatsoever seems like a pipe dream.
Still, he was her brother and he saw the way Jungkook looked at Runa. His gaze held respect and admiration whenever it was focused on her, and as a man, he knew how to read others and he saw so much in that man's eyes even when they looked like a void.
"No, Runa. I think he cares for you and you're in such disbelief of that that you can't even see it yourself."
Her features contort with disagreement, "Nah, I don't think so. I think maybe he just takes his job too seriously."
"If so, why would he be worried about you going out with your brother knowing I would have men all around us for protection?"
The question makes her contemplate for a good long while, the car filling with a comfortable silence until she starts to see Jimin's perspective and how maybe, after all of his rejection of getting too close, he might've failed in that aspect. Maybe when he said he cared, he meant it.
"He said that we were friends. What does that mean?", she reminisced, overthinking everything he's said now that Jimin was pointing it out.
"Did he originally detest the idea and try to emotionally distance himself by keeping you away from his personal life?"
Her mouth falls open, not expecting him to practically know exactly what happened, "Uh...yes. Yes, in fact, he did and he finally gave in."
He hums with a pleased look on his face, knowing that he was right about the bodyguard, "Oh yeah, he likes you then."
She groans, not able to even think about it because she was getting way too delusional about that man and her crush wasn't even a crush anymore. She's never liked somebody this much, she never cared for a man like this before and it was scary.
She embraced that fear and relished in the nice aftermath of reality which was she had strong feelings for him. The rest of the way, she doesn't see the knowing smirk on her brother's face and continues to dwell in her mind to escape the truth of what's about to happen.
As soon as she heard the heavy gates open to the estate, her heart drummed against her chest and the thought of confronting him was going to make her sick. She didn't know whether or not he'd be eerily calm or if maybe she'd pushed him too far this time and he'd flip out on her.
She wasn't sure what to expect other than a scolding followed by the dreadful cold shoulder which was a nasty combo, both from him and Dong-Wook because she has pissed that man off too, on accident of course but still. Jimin patted her hand, reassuring her that everything was fine and he was the first to go in the house as she took her time getting out.
Once the housekeepers came out to the vehicle to grab the shopping bags from the trunk, she figured there was no reason to try to delay this and drag it out any longer than necessary. With her head held high, she walks up to the front door, and upon her entrance, she sees both Jungkook and the Doberman waiting for her in the living room.
She cursed herself internally as soon as Jungkook stood up from the chair with Cookie following beside him. He looked way too good right now in just a simple, fitted black shirt and black jeans. She tried not to look at his body and instead looked him in the eyes as he now towered over her with his arms crossed over his chest.
"Why did you leave without telling me?"
His voice was viciously cold to the point where she got chills, and goosebumps were arising on her skin. He looked terrifying. The combo of the frown on his face and the anger in his eyes had her knees weak and she never got scared. She wasn't afraid of him because she thought he'd hurt her.
No matter what, Runa knew Jungkook would never do such a thing. But it was the fact that he was disappointed in her, it was clear on his face and she prayed for either Jimin or Dong-Wook to magically appear and save her from this. It seems her prayers have been answered when she hears footsteps approaching from the left.
"Jungkook, it's my fault. I told her that we didn't have to tell you and that I'd have my guards. I said that it should just be the two of us. I apologize for worrying you, it won't happen again."
Jimin's voice sounded like the grace of God buzzing in her ears but the way Jungkook scanned her up and down to intimidate her made her feel painstakingly small. That did nothing to calm him down, nothing.
"It's her responsibility to tell me where she's going so I can go with her. In the end, it's her fault so don't take the blame", he responds, still keeping his burning gaze on her and she felt suffocated, like she couldn't breathe unless he wasn't upset with her anymore.
Seeing as that wasn't going to go anywhere, Jimin sighed and excused himself, leaving Runa to fend for herself. She silently cursed in her head, unable to pull her eyes away from his because she wasn't sure what he'd say if she did.
"Are you just going to stay silent?", he questions harshly, and to de-escalate the situation, she keeps her voice low and calm.
"I'm sorry for not telling you. I just wanted some time alone with my brother."
"Where did you go?", he asks without missing a beat, and he was so close she could smell his aftershave and a slight hint of his soap that never failed to make her legs turn to noodles.
"We went to the mall to get outfits for the gala. Jimin thought of it as a good way for us to get closer", she smoothly responded, and to anyone else, she looked fearless and unworried.
But Jungkook knew how she was feeling, he knew all too well but he was too angry to hear reason right now. He never did this, but he let his emotions get the best of him and he storms off upstairs with her running after him.
"Look, I didn't mean to disappoint you. It's just-"
He turns around right as he's about to enter his bedroom and she flinches at how fast he comes close to her again, poor Cookie being a witness to their little argument, "Don't even make excuses. I don't care that you're a grown woman and have the freedom to do as you please. I am your bodyguard and I am meant to protect you. What's it gonna take to get that through your head?"
Runa hated how much she just wanted to cry, how she never truly healed from the trauma of her father that whenever an older man she was close with was upset with her, que Jungkook and Dong-Wook, she wanted to ball up in a corner and cry where no one could see how weak she felt sometimes.
"I'm sorry."
That was all she could muster and although he knew just by her voice how hurt she was by his outburst, he turned around and slammed the door in her face. With a heavy heart and a knot lodged in her throat, she walks to her room with Cookie and shuts the door, locking it and immediately running into the bathroom.
She was upset over this situation and how he blew it out of proportion. He knew she was safe so why was he so upset at this? Regardless of him being overprotective, she felt it was out of hand and the worst part was that he was disappointed in her. As soon as she's about to curse him out, not caring if he somehow hears her mumbling through the wall, she reminisces the first time this happened.
The night she snuck out of the house to see Dori, she didn't tell him where she was going and luckily he came just in time before things could escalate. Whether she was in control of that or not. She remembered that he said his job was to worry and since this world is so unpredictable he should always be by her side no matter what. She felt like shit yet again but was too upset to go and apologize sincerely.
The argument was too fresh and they both needed time to cool off, so after taking an unexpected nap, exhausted from the turmoil, she woke up and went out to see it was almost dinner time and she knew that before they'd all eat together, she had to clear this up because tension at the dinner table? No thanks, she wanted to have peace of mind and be able to eat without feeling sick.
It was pathetic to cry about such a small thing in her opinion, but when she truly cared about someone and disappointed them, it felt like a knife in the heart that continued to turn and twist until things were resolved.
She tried not to be too hard on herself for breaking down, it's okay to cry but growing up in such a toxic household, it was hard to overcome those bad habits. After fixing up her makeup so she didn't look like a swollen cherry, and mentally hyping herself up, she exits her room and takes a deep breath before knocking on his door a few times.
"Come in."
He didn't even have to look up from what he was doing to know it was her. He was sitting on his bed with the sniper rifle in hand as he cleaned it with a rag. He heard the door shut and when he got a whiff of her perfume, he knew she was getting closer to him, and the bed dipped beside him.
"Jungkook, I didn't mean to upset you. I figured you wouldn't care-"
"Of course, I'd care", he cuts off with a stern tone, still not looking at her as he took apart the rifle and put the pieces in the black case laying on the bed.
"I'm sorry, I mean that. Please just look at me."
He turns to look at her, and at least he doesn't look so angry compared to before. He seemed calmer and his expression was blank, but his eyes were telling. He knew by that redness in her face she was crying, and it was not like he could hear it because the walls were soundproof.
"You were crying", he states, and she frowns with a shake of her head, feeling embarrassed that he observed that.
"No, I wasn't. It's just allergies", she lamely excuses, and to anyone else they'd believe her, but Jungkook always knew better.
He's seen her cry and he knew exactly what she looked like afterwards. She touched up her makeup so it wasn't as obvious but he always knew with her. Her throat sounded scratchy and sore, like she was sobbing and he could hear the exhaustion in her voice. He didn't mean to take it that far but he couldn't help how angry he was that she yet again disappeared without a word.
"Yes you were, don't lie to me", he says in a serious but much softer tone that made her ease up.
"I'm fine, seriously. I don't want to fight with you. I know how much you worry and I'm sorry for what I did. Can we please move on from this? I won't do it again."
There are a few moments where they just look at each other, and before the tension can rise, he looks away and grabs the rifle case to put it back in the closet, "Alright then."
She frowns at the boring response she receives and watches as he puts the rifle in the closet before stepping out and walking over to Cookie who sits on the floor next to her feet. He began petting her and Runa crossed her arms childishly.
"That's it? That's all I get?", she says with disappointment.
Jungkook looks up at her and raises an eyebrow, "Did you expect a kiss or something?"
She purses her lips and looks away, "No, but I expect an apology from you too mister. You were rude, and I don't like your attitude sometimes."
He feels the muscles around his mouth twitch like he wants to smile but he doesn't, "I was wrong for blowing things out of proportion and instead of getting angry I should've stayed calm instead, that was my mistake. There? Is that better?"
"No", she mumbles, side-eyeing him as he stands up and pats her head.
Immediately she felt like melting and she stays looking pissed off and hoped that this foundation could conceal how hot her face felt because she knew her body was, "Cheer up, Runa. No one likes a pouter."
His hand goes away and she almost asks for a hug. But she caught herself slipping and instead watched as he did his usual rep of push-ups, admiring how his back muscles flexed and her eyes began roaming places where they shouldn't.
She was so caught up in watching him that she hadn't realized he was watching her too, his face once again twitching to form a smile but he pressed his lips into a thin line and looked ahead so he doesn't get distracted, even though it was obvious by the look on her face where she was staring.
"Haven't I told you before? Staring is rude. Especially staring at someone's ass."
