Not too long after Taehyung was thrown in the basement, and Dong-Wook made his way up to her room, Runa slowly moved around and blinked her eyes open, seeing a blurry figure sitting close by her and another at the foot of the bed, along with a comforting weight on her chest.

"Cookie?", she mutters, her vision starting to clear when the dog nudges her face with its nose, and her memory floods back in.

"Runa? Are you ok?", Dong-Wook says, coming to her side and cradling the side of her head with his palm.

In response, she groans at the ache throbbing in her skull and feels uncomfortably dehydrated. After clearing her throat, she starts to sit up on the bed with the help of Dong-Wook who holds her while Jungkook adjusts the pillow so she sits upright.

"Thanks, I just need some water and I'll be fine", she mutters, not wanting to speak so loudly because of how bad her head pounded.

The underboss quickly grabs the water bottle from her nightstand and hands it to her, also grabbing the ice pack that slipped off her head and held it against her temple. After gulping the whole thing down, she takes a deep breath and carefully moves around, making sure that there are no major injuries and everything is working alright.

"You might have a concussion, we should probably get you to a hospital just to be sure", Jungkook says while standing up so Dong-Wook could sit in his place.

She shakes her head at that and begins petting Cookie who lays her head in the woman's lap, "No, I've had a concussion and this is just a headache, nothing serious."

"Are you ok though? Do you feel sore?", the underboss asks, worried to hear an answer that wouldn't ease his mind or heart.

But her smile tells both men that she's alright, "He didn't hurt me too badly. Speaking of, did he escape?"

"Yes and no. He went to his cabin and now he's in the basement tied up."

"Good, we should talk to him then", she says while moving to sit at the edge of the bed and that makes the underboss stand up with his hands on his hips, putting the ice pack on the nightstand.

"I don't think so. You need to stay in bed. You might just have a headache and a bruise but you need rest. We don't need you passing out on us or anything", Dong-Wook says with a firm expression, but of course she stands up and doesn't listen to him, going to her closet to get appropriate clothes to change into as opposed to the pajamas with blood stained on them.

"Seriously, Dong-Wook I'm fine. Just a bump in the head is all. We need to question him and find out if somebody put a hit out on me, or if he was alone in this."

While she closes the closet door to change, the underboss glances over at her bodyguard who remains silent and in his usual stance. So he sighs and gives up on arguing with her because he knows that regardless of what he says to her, she'll do as she pleases.

She then emerges from the closet in a simple black outfit and jacket, her hair tied back in a bun and she grimaces at the bloody wall, but not out of disgust. She was disappointed in herself for not finishing the job and now she was suffering the consequences. Meaning a throbbing headache that spread to the front of her skull and made her eyes strain.

"No matter what you say, I'm not getting back in bed unless this is dealt with. We can't risk it", she says and he just shakes his head at her, knowing how stubborn she is and she smiles triumphantly when he gestures for both her and the bodyguard to follow him.

"Follow me, I locked him in one of the rooms."

Cookie followed them and they walked down the staircase and through the living room towards the basement. She noticed how closely Jungkook stood by her and when she tried to look into his eyes to see what he was thinking, his gaze remained forward and he didn't glance her way.

"Thank you for saving me. If you hadn't been there to-"

Immediately Jungkook cuts her off with his icy, emotionless tone, "It's my job and I didn't save you. You got lucky. If Cookie wasn't barking and woke your father and I, you would be dead."

The atmosphere grows tense as they descend the stairs and walk down the hall to the last door, which Dong-Wook gets the key out of his pocket to open. She ignores his harshness and instead smiles, ignoring the small pinch she felt in her heart and stomach.

"Still, you saved me and did your job. So thank you."

He finally turned his gaze to her and sighed, wondering why things had to be like this, and he couldn't push that feeling away. That rage when he saw her on the floor, and now he sees the bruise a bit more clearly because of the lighting, and although it's minor, it shouldn't be there anyway. Deep down, he felt guilt in his heart and that's why he doesn't respond. He doesn't know what to say to her because he failed, and that simply won't do.

As they walk in the room and the underboss turns on the light, closing the door behind them, Taehyung is strapped to a chair, both his wrists and ankles tied, and his head hung low. The smell of blood reached her nose and she'd become so used to it that she had no initial reaction until the male lifted his head and she saw his face. Cookie growls but stays sat just as instructed by her owner who hushed her, telling her it was ok. He looked unrecognizable, worse than how he did before and she knew by the look on Dong-Wook's face that he gave the gangster a beating.

He was pissed and yet Taehyung smiles, his face covered in blood that was only a few shades deeper than the red in his hair, one of his rings missing and she assumed it might've fallen off while they were fighting. Her heart raced with anticipation, feeling that same adrenaline course through her veins as she and Jungkook stood in the corner of the small, empty room and watched as Dong-Wook grabbed the man's chin and lifted his head so they looked into each other's eyes.

"We know you're working for Dori. Did he order you to kill her? Or did somebody else?"

The bloodied male only laughs, more of the crimson liquid dripping down his chin from his mouth and he looks crazier than ever. Still, after getting his face beaten in, he had enough energy to laugh and it was menacing, creating an eerie vibe in the room as they all impatiently awaited his response which soon came when he looked over at her firm expression.

"Nobody told me to do anything. I wanted to kill her. It's a shame I wasn't able to, and I think you have one of my rings. Could I have it back, please? Those were expensive ya know."

His casual tone only angered the man more, she could see he was on edge this whole time and holding back, which he was never good at doing when he got his hands on somebody. When she sees him swing his fist against the gangster's face, she feels a sense of comfort and safety that is only amplified when Jungkook's presence could be felt right beside her. He cared about her, and from how distant Jungkook's gaze was, she knew he did too.

"Stop fucking around. Are you seriously worried about your jewelry as opposed to your life? Maybe I should stick that ring in your eye and see how much you want it back then", the older male practically growls, losing patience and if Taehyung kept fucking around with this, she wasn't sure what he'd do.

"Tell us who you're working for, because we all know it isn't just Dori. Who's this new drug dealer he's involved with? And tell me now if you don't want to lose anything important", he glances down at his groin and Taehyung just smirks with a playful roll of his eyes.

"I work for nobody. I do as I please and-"

His voice is cut off when the underboss throws yet another punch to his nose, making it worse than it was before from when Runa smashed his face into the wall. He lets out a blood-curdling scream, shaking violently from the loss of blood that was starting to affect him, and the noise makes her ears ring.

She clenched her eyes tightly, taking a few deep breaths and everything around her sounded muffled, the only thing she could process was ringing and soon after a few seconds, it stopped, although there was a knot that needed massaging at her temples. Cookie knew she was in pain and rubbed her face against her leg, it was heartwarming and it made Runa smile weakly.

Jungkook sees this and comes closer to her side, leaning down to whisper in her ear, "I think you should go back to your bedroom and rest for the night."

She dismisses that with a shake of her head and folds her arms across her chest while watching the interaction between Taehyung and Dong-Wook, "I'm fine. I'll rest later."

The bodyguard didn't believe that she was ok but he knew she was stubborn and wasn't going anywhere until she got answers. So instead of throwing her over his shoulder and carrying her upstairs, he sticks close to her and watches the scene unfold before him.

"It's too late, anyways. Dori is coming to get me and I'll slip away forever", Taehyung starts to laugh maniacally and before Dong-Wook could get the knife out of his pocket, she steps forward and gains their attention while speaking directly to the underboss.

"It's no use. We're not going to get anything from him. He doesn't care if he dies or not, that much was clear when he attacked me. Let's just wait this out and see if his friend tries to get him back", she suggests and with a suggestive raise of her eyebrows, signaling that they needed to talk in private, the older man nods in agreement before sending another crucial punch to the man's jaw, which his head swung to the side as he started to violently cough up blood.

"Let's go."

The trio make an exit with the Doberman following behind, heading upstairs to speak in the living room. As both Runa and Jungkook sit next to each other on the leather couch, they wait for Dong-Wook to finish washing his bloody hands in the kitchen sink and he emerges from the other side, sitting across from them with his feet kicked up on the ottoman. Meanwhile, Cookie sat by the edge of the couch where Runa was, her ears perked up as her head moved around to take in the surroundings.

"So? What's your plan then? It would've been nice to cut off his balls and watch him go into shock", he says with a hint of disappointment, his intrigue with the idea still circling in his mind.

She leans back and rubs her temples with the pads of her fingertips, "I'm not sure, but torturing him won't get anything done. He doesn't crack."

"With me he will", the older male replies with a confident smirk on his face, and that only makes her huff.

"I'm telling you you're just wasting your time and energy. He says Dori is gonna come to his rescue. We'll see about that. As far as I am concerned, he might've acted alone in this and since he's a part of some grand scheme, I'm assuming whoever his boss is isn't gonna be happy that he almost killed me. I don't think that was the plan, seeing as I'm a useful tool and my death would only complicate things further. No, we should wait and be ready to take the offense when the opportunity presents itself."

The doorbell rings, echoing through the halls and the trio look up to see Min-Su descending the staircase and walking towards the front door without glancing their way. Again, Cookie starts growling and Runa hushes her. When he opens it, the devil himself walks in with his men following behind, a cocky grin on his face when he sees who's sitting in the living room.

"And here comes the opportunity", she grumbled under her breath so only Dong-Wook and Jungkook could hear, and she didn't need to look over at the underboss to see the frown on his face upon seeing the man who exasperatedly sighed and cracked his neck.

"So, where is he?", the Yakuza leader steps forward and looks at the trio who then turn to Min-Su standing by, silently asking what the fuck was going on and the displeased look on both Runa and Dong-Wook's faces was a painful reminder to the mafia boss of how similar they were to each other in that way.

"He's in the basement", the man finally speaks up, but before Dori and his men could even walk another step in that direction, the trio stand up and she walks to stand in front of the leader who glares down at her, his eyes playful but she knew exactly why he was pissed.

"Why exactly is he here? You realize the two are friends right? Are you gonna allow Taehyung to get away with this?", Runa asks her father who keeps his usual blank expression, not a care in the world as to what happened tonight.

She glared back up at Dori and he smirked, getting way too close in an instant, Cookie barked and Jungkook stepped forward while pushing him back, his gun aimed right at the temple of his head and the Yakuza leader chuckled, raising a pierced brow at both of them and clicking his tongue at the dog.

"A little deja vu am I right? And to answer your question, Taehyung betrayed me too. He stole from me and since he tried to kill you and you don't trust me anymore, I see it as a way to prove my loyalty to the Kang's. Isn't that right Min-Su?"

Everyone turns to the man as he steps forward, the tension in the room rising now that Jungkook has a gun to his head, "He's right. Taehyung is a traitor to all of us. And since you don't trust him and believe any rumors you hear that are baseless, I called him and gave him the job of executing Taehyung. Who, mind you, was his friend and now is not. Dori will take Taehyung and no one will protest. Understood?", he says directing towards his daughter who rolls her eyes and steps away with a tight-lipped smile when she sees the taunting look on Dori's face.

Of course, she didn't believe a lick of what he said. She highly doubted Taehyung betrayed Dori in any way and although she also didn't think killing her was their plan all along, she could see that mix of seriousness in his playful gaze and she knew that he was upset.

Not just by her little visit to his hotel room that night, but because of what Taehyung did. It seems like an inconvenience to everyone, but especially to her father. With a glance toward Jungkook, he lowers his weapon and holsters it, stepping back to stand close beside her. Cookie backed away too, still keeping her beady eyes pinned on the man as she stood by her owner protectively.

"Fine, I'll back off. But to prove you killed him, send me his head in a box. Yeah?", Runa says to the Yakuza leader, who glances at an irritable Min-Su with a nod.

"Yes, princess. Whatever you wish. Let's move."

His men follow his order and while Min-Su leads them downstairs, Dori blows her a kiss and winks before disappearing down the hall. She groans with disgust, glancing over at Dong-Wook who eyes the two suspiciously with his hands on his hips.

"Deja vu? Have you two met him privately or something? Seemed a little tense back there..."

Runa shrugs carelessly, sharing a look with Jungkook who remains nonchalant and doesn't respond, "He's just fucking around. You know how he is."

"Uh huh", he replies with skepticism, and to escape more questioning, she yawns and stretches her arms up.

"Alright I'm tired, I've had enough to deal with for one night. I'll be heading to bed now. Goodnight and drive safe", she says and with a heavy sigh, the underboss salutes and gives a short nod to the bodyguard after he bids them goodbye, pats Cookie on the head, and exits the mansion.

"I'm coming with you", Jungkook says while they walk up the stairs and she frowns in confusion.

"Why?"

When they reach the next floor and she takes one glance at her broken door, she purses her lips and he gives her an intense look as he steps closer, towering over her and it made her feel incredibly small. Not just by the look he pinned on her, but with his tone of voice. She couldn't argue with him on this. Cookie whines, and although she is just a dog, the proximity of the two makes her seem like a third wheel.

"Because your door is broken and I don't feel comfortable with you not being guarded after what's happened."

"So you're gonna watch me sleep?"

"No, I'm going to sleep in your room."

Immediately her face turns red and her mind wanders to places it shouldn't, "Like in my bed?", she mutters awkwardly, trying not to smile so she bit her lip to suppress the urge.

He of course responds as calmly as ever, taking notice of the flustered she got, "No, I'm not sleeping in your bed. That's inappropriate. I'll sleep on the floor, I'm sure you have enough blankets to keep me comfortable."

And with that, he grabs her arm and leads her into the bedroom, closing the broken door as best he could before ushering her to hurry up and get him a pillow and blankets. Just the thought of him sleeping in here made her body heat up and her heart started to thud in her chest, her headache long forgotten as she lay in bed with Cookie beside her. She stared up at the ceiling and occasionally glanced down at him who slept with a thick comforter and fluffy pillow on the floor, his back turned in her direction so she couldn't see if he was awake or not.

In truth, she felt bad that he had to sleep on the floor. Although it was his choice and it would be a bit too intimate if he slept in her bed, she wasn't tired and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't fall asleep and it was already 4 am. She didn't want to wake him, and she knew how stupid this was but she didn't care.

She hid her embarrassment, took a deep breath, and slowly moved down to where he was, settling her pillow next to his along with her blanket. Cookie whines again, displeased that her owner left her and Runa stiffens, her heart racing when she hears his voice.

"Get back in bed, Runa. Now."

She gulps thickly and remains where she is, "I can't sleep, Jungkook."

That earns a heavy sigh in response, he was too tired to argue so he gives in pretty quickly, "You can sleep next to me but don't expect me to hold you or anything. It's bad enough you're this close. But if you move too much, I'm putting your ass back in bed. Got it?"

Runa held in the urge to laugh at his grumpiness but instead decided to not choose violence and settle down with some space between them, feeling the warmth radiating off of his much bigger body and it made her grin childishly.

"I don't squirm much in my sleep. I promise not to disturb you."

"Goodnight", he mumbles, scooting a little bit away and she narrows her eyes at him, glaring holes into his back at his petty move.

"Goodnight, Jungkook."

After only a few minutes, her heart calms down and she soon embraces the comfort of deep sleep. The gentle humming that emitted from the ceiling fan aided in her mind's relaxation and Jungkook turned to see that she was finally passed out. He flips on his other side, facing her and he stares a bit too long at her resting face, tracing the slope of her perfect nose with his sharp eyes that never missed a single detail.

Once he snaps out of his trance, he realizes just how weird it was to stare and he closes his eyes, trying his best not to overthink what happened and get the permanent image of her out of his mind so he could rest.
