Jungkook escapes the school as fast as he can. But it's more like he needs to escape those hurtful eyes you looked at him with. Even from the distance, you were standing, he could see the glossy case cover your orbs.
The thing was, as soon as Jungkook would tell the truth, the real truth, your life would be in danger. All members had made an oath to never tell anyone else about the shit that they do. Whoever would gain the knowledge of what any of the members did at night would have to be killed. Immediately. And that was the last thing he wanted for the girl he loves the most in the world.
But how long can he go on like this? How long can he keep a secret that's such a huge fucked up part of him? Would you still love him after he told you about the monster he is? The only way to protect you and stop this from getting any worse would be to break up with you. But Jungkook selfishly knows he'd never be able to do that, to leave such a treasure in his life behind.
He keeps his head down the whole time as he walks down the sketchy street. Turning around the corner after the next, he knows his way to the leader's lair off by heart from all the pitch-black nights he's had to navigate his way through the dark so that no one would follow him.
The silent dark night does nothing but makes his dishevelled thoughts scream louder and his footsteps pound at the concrete in an attempt to make something louder than the noise in his head.
When he arrives, he can already hear the rest of the members bickering, laughing until he comes into their and everyone falls silent. He finally lifts his head, eyes falling on everyone else only to find them looking straight at him.
He studies the space, "What? Is it because I'm late?"
"No, Jungkook, of course not." Hongjoong speaks, a grin crawling up his face like the Cheshire Cat, "However, I don't think I'll be calling you 'Jungkook' anymore."
Automatically, Jungkook raises an eyebrow, growing suspicious.
Hongjoong sits back in his chair, "We're going to be calling each other by different names now. It'll help us keep our identity safe."
He already doesn't like the sound of it. Heuning Kai holds out a hand to him, "I'm Pistol and you are?"
He can't help but scoff in reaction, "Pistol?"
Mingyu chuckles to keep the ease, his golden smile glistening softly in the dark night, "Hey, you should be Heartthrob."
Jungkook's gaze shifts to his friend and repeats the name, "Heartthrob?"
His friend shrugs, "Yeah, you're quite a looker. I bet everyone calls you the school's heartthrob."
He hated it less because Mingyu suggested it but still there was something that hit too close to home to call himself that. Having any kind of connections between his school life and this gang life is the last thing he wants.
Shaking his head, "Uh, I don't know. I'll think of one tonight."
Mingyu nods, not taking any harsh feels from the rejection.
"But, uh, may I ask why the sudden change? Did something come up?"
Now everyone looks away, facing their leader that doesn't drop his knowing smile. "Nothing much." Between his two fingers, the tip of the cigarette flickers as he sucks in and blows out the cloud of smoke into the eerie breeze. "We're just planning on taking this gang to the next big step. A much bigger step."
Jungkook swallows. He knows this can't be anything but dangerous news but there's a tingle that resides within him. The smoke always starts off small and then grows bigger as the fire burns brighter. It's the reason why he can't let any of this erratic life go.

"You're being really obvious right now."
Nayeon ignores your words, her eyes digging straight through Lucas' soul as she watches him grin widely while running across the football pitch with the rest of his football team. The boys yell at each other from time to time, sometimes getting overshadowed by the small cluster of their girlfriends and boyfriends in the corner of the benches squealing.
"I don't care." She grits her teeth, furiously opening her bag of crisps and stuffing one in her mouth. "It's our practice day and all of a sudden the guys get to claim the pitch just because they have a match coming up? We do too! Our match is just as important as theirs."
A few specks of food fly out of her mouth as she rants but she doesn't care, violently stuffing one crisp after the other as she throws sharp daggers at the tall smiling boy. "Has he ever smiled that big? Probably not. It's probably only because he knows how much the girl's team is suffering right now because his big fat ass managed to persuade our coach-"
You snatch the bag out of her hands and take a few crisps innocently before placing the bag back in her hand. She gives you a short glare while you smile sweetly back, knowing she can't get mad at you because you're her best friend.
She doesn't seem to care enough about the food anyway, her glare finding its way back to Lucas. "That boy is dead to me and you know why? It's because I'm gonna kill him."
As the ball rolls towards Nayeon's direction, a shout follows. "Hey, princess. Do you mind kicking the ball over?"
Yes, it is in fact the dickhead himself who shouts this. Lucas' smile grows wider at Nayeon as if he's just done something really smart when instead it's just riled up the 'princess' even more. Stomping off the bench, she doesn't hesitate to show off her skills by kicking the ball fiercely. At the speed of lightning, the ball hits Lucas straight in the stomach and he doubles over clutching himself.
"Aw damn it." She turns around, skipping back to her seat unaffectedly, "I was kinda hoping it would hit his balls."
You look at your best friend with clear disbelief and shame in your eyes.
She glances at you, taking her snack back into her hands, "What? He deserved it."
Shaking your head in embarrassment but also secretly loving her slick side, you chuckle.
"Anyway, tell me about your golden boy? How's it going with him?"
Your breath gets stuck in your throat. He was something you were trying to push to the back of your mind all day. It was easier since he hadn't shown up for any of his classes today. Although, you still found yourself occasionally glancing at his empty seat.
Head dropping to your fidgeting hands, you respond, "I don't know. I don't really know anything about him anymore."
You can feel Nayeon's eyes dart towards you out of concern as soon as she hears your words and melancholy tone. "Why? What's going on?"
Blowing out a sigh, you look up but don't look at her, afraid tears will spill if you do. "I think he's cheating on me."
Nayeon shoots out of her chair, startling you. "You know, I thought I was only killing one boy today but it just turned into two."
Without another word, she starts walking speedily away with determined steps but doesn't get far before making a quick u-turn and heading back towards you, "Where does he live?"
You can't help but laugh a little at her, "I don't know."
"You don't know where your own boyfriend lives?"
The question hits you. How come you never questioned that?
"Uhm, yeah, He just never told me... he doesn't tell me a lot of things." You start to fidget with your hands again.
Nayeon cocks her head like a confused puppy, "Does he not...talk about himself?"
You look up at her with a scared clueless look, "Now that I think about it...no." Your eyes wander off, "Oh my goodness, how did I never think about this before? I literally know nothing about the man I love."
Your hands fly to your hair, almost ripping the strands out from the sudden realization. "Is it because I'm too self-centred? Did I just never ask about him? Because I mean we talk, we talk a lot but it's always him asking me questions and anytime the conversation would turn towards him, he would just turn it back to me."
Nayeon opens her mouth to speak, reaching out to grab your hands before you make yourself go bald. But before she can do any of that, a ball whacks her on the back of her head, making her stumble on top of you.
She recovers her balance quickly and you can see the fury in her eyes. Whipping around to locate whoever just kicked the ball, it's no other than the grinning idiot himself.
"LUCAS WONG!"
She's gone from the bench within seconds, sprinting across the field and you can almost see the furious smoke blasting out from her ears. Lucas' smile doesn't last long as he starts to realize what Nayeon's possibly going to do to him. Turning around, he starts fleeing on his own.
"Wait! Wait! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to-"
He doesn't get to finish his excuse as she jumps on top of him, her nails attacking his scalp. None of the boys gets involved. A few laugh hysterically while others nervously but most of them freeze in their spot, praying for their friend and hoping he makes it out alive.
Your jaw drops open at the sight and you cover your mouth as laughter starts to spill out.
"Loud idiots."
You hear a mutter from behind you. Turning around, you find Kyungsoo sitting a few benches up from you and you wonder when he even sat down there. Has he been here the whole time?
His nose is buried in his book and he pushes his glasses up his small nose.
"Why don't you go to the library then?" You ask him, hearing his complaint.
Looking down on you, he responds after a short stare, "Some Year 7's had to take a damn quiz in there."
"Oh yes. The damn Year 7's." You've never heard him swear before and you can't hide the amusement in your voice.
He goes back to his book but your eyes linger on him for a second longer, "Hey Kyungsoo, Jungkook's in your Maths class, right?"
Clearly annoyed, he looks up again and gives a plain, "Yes."
"Do you happen to know where he goes after school?"
He stares at you for a moment before saying, "You're his girlfriend, aren't you supposed to know more than me?"
"Yeah, I know-" You start off irritatedly but then stop and force a smile, "Just answer the damn question, please."
In response, he gives a shrug and returns to his book while saying, "I really don't know. He talks to Lucas sometimes, he might know."
Your head spins and you return your attention back to the loud yelps of help. Getting onto your feet, you walk over to the couple wrestling in the middle of the field.
"Hey, Lucas."
The two of them stop, bodies entangled and mud smeared all over their faces and clothes.
"Yes?", he breathes out, looking terrified.
"Do you know where Jungkook goes after school?"
He looks at you weirdly and you know he's about to say the same thing as Kyungsoo until Nayeon twists his nipple, "Answer the question, peasant."
"Ow, ow! Uhm, I'm not entirely sure. I always invite him to play video games or basketball but he never joins us. He always says he's got some other place to go."
"Some other place?" You question aloud, then what does this boy do after school? "Do you ever see him with a girl?"
This makes Lucas look at you weirdly once again, "No...do you think he's cheating on you?" And then he starts to laugh.
Nayeon's eyes grow violent.
"Sorry, sorry." He apologizes immediately, "It's just that, there's no way that guy is cheating on you. Like you should hear the way he talks about you. I've never seen a guy so in love."
Your heart swells on hearing this, a relief flooding through your veins. "He...talks about me?"
Lucas nods, "Never shuts up about you. Sometimes you're all he can talk about."
Your gaze drops and you stare into the grass, both flattered and confused. "But then if he's not meeting up with some girl...where does he go?"
You know you wouldn't be able to sleep until you find out.
