Chapter 1 of Who Knows How Many
The clicking of a pen...
The turning of pages...
A bored sigh as my English II teacher waits for the other people in my high school class, as they frantically searched for some pages out of 'The Book Thief'. A novel by death, you should read it sometime, if you're a history fanatic like me.
I sat there in my class, waiting for it to be over. I had been going to this school system for about... 7 years? It had been trouble finding a place to live when I was younger. I've been to about 5 different schools not including this one. Each in a different state.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a trouble kid, it's just hard living in a family of nine, when all you really are is a sin. Literally, one of the seven deadly sin, I'm wrath,
The one I'm in now has managed to stay together. It's in Boston, MA, which is a nice place... If you're just visiting. They gave me a quaint little room to sleep, and pretty much survive in.
"(Y/n)....(Y/N)!" the voice of my teacher snapped me out of my gaze.
"She found half a red flag, a poster, three books, and a burnt sign in the pile of ash." I stated matter-of-factly. "Co-Correct" he replied, slightly stunned. "Just like always!" the popular girl next to me snarked. 'Great' I thought, 'another comment from little miss princess.'

A deep breath in, as my disciple and friends lean back in trembling terror.
"WHAT" I shouted, loud and short.
Raven, previously stated as my disciple, had been arguing with me about whether or not my toilet was just shy , or if I was in complete denial that it needed to be fixed.
Brooke my other, blue haired, friend, had tried multiple times to interrupt our conversation. This had ended in me getting annoyed with the gnat buzzing in my ear, and shouting.
"Brooke, what do you need?" Raven asked, a little gentler. "Can you pass me some tape? I need to tape my paper to its board." Brooke said. You see, we're in this art class together. Brooke, her twin, and I took it last year as sophomores, and now Raven is taking as a sophomore. Luckily, for us upper class men, we can take it multiple years in a row.
Raven leaned back to the painting tables behind us, and grabbed the roll of yellow tape, and handed it to Brooke. "Thanks!" she squeaked. Raven smiled warmly, "No prob." she chirped happily. I stared down at the table wondering what I was gonna do for the next project. I didn't necessarily have to do one for this class, but I do have another art class. It involves working with clay, and sculpting beautiful things out of the dirt you walk on.
"I'm thinking of doing the nine realms of Norse mythology, but on plates instead of a mosaic this time..." I stated distantly. "Yeah, that'll look cool." Brooke said. I sighed, "I'll just have to be careful with them, seeing as the last time I tried anything with Norse mythology, I had to break it up and soak it back to mush. Then I made a crappy Olympian god symbol mosaic out of it. The Norse one was, like, the best thing I'd made all year last year. It took me two and a half months to make. Then I made a disappointment out of its leftovers!"
"Well, maybe you'll have better luck this year!" Raven stated, rather optimistic.
"Yeah, maybe.."
-Time skip to a few minutes later-
Raven turned to me with a confused expression on her face, "Where's the coat hanger at, so I can hang my jacket up till the end of the day?" I turned to my art teacher, "Hey, where's the coat hanger you had out here last year?"
"It's in the back." she replied. "Can I go get it?" I asked. "Yeah, sure..." she said. At this exact moment Raven and I looked at each other and said "I'm gonna go get it first." We both took off towards the back hallway, me just barely ahead of her. I slid as I turned the corner around the sink and ran into the door to the hallway.
She crashed into my back and we both fell through the door laughing loudly. I stumbled into the wall and flicked on the light switch as the door shut and locked behind us. I ran to the thin entrance between desks, and other assorted metallic things from the shop class across the hall. Finally, I spotted the coat hanger and grabbed it.
"It's mine! I get to carry it! I touched it first!" I said as I bumped the desk next to me partially out of the way with my hips. We were both still laughing hysterically as Raven grabbed the edge of the desk and slowly started dragging it slowly out of the way, making a loud scraping sound. I picked up the coat hanger, and she moved it back again.
"The people in shop can probably hear all of this!" she giggled out. I laughed back, "Probably" I started walking back to the art room in a squatting kind of position, causing some of the hangers on it to fall of and clang loudly on the floor. Raven and I just kind of glanced at each other "Maybe you should take those off." I said seriously. She pulled a straight face for all of two seconds, before we both cracked up laughing, yet again.
She pulled the hangers off, and picked up the extra ones off the floor. We both turned and walk up to the door. She tried to turn the knob, only to have it stick, not realizing we had locked ourselves in. *knock knock knock* "CIA. We're here to speak with you." she said in a serious voice, with a face to match.
I chime in with, "Yeah. We had some reports of strange lights coming from the art room..." All of a sudden our friend Sam's hijab and face poked through a small sliver in the doorway, and Raven almost fell on the floor roaring with laughter. I just shoved past her and opened the door the rest of the way.
We both walked back to the front off the class giggling loudly, earning some odd looks from the teacher and our fellow students. I set the coat hanger down, and she hung the hangers back up, along with her jacket.

"BYE SENSEI! I'LL MISS YOU!" Raven screamed at me from the door to her apartment complex. I had just dropped her off after school, using my awesome bug convertible car. I glanced around before offering a weak smile back, "I guess I'll miss you too." She smiled from ear to ear and turned around and walked inside.
'Wierdo... Why does he call herself my disciple again? Something about a Saitama and a Genos? I think?'

The cool breeze whipped past my nose as I drove home, legs sore from pushing the clutch so much. My two backpacks slid around in the back seat. One was for during school ( which is technically my knapsack), and one for taking books home. The crisp January air made me wish it was still Christmas Vacation.
I huffed and drove on, or at least I tried to when a familiar face ran out of the alleyway and into the street.
"Magnus! I-I haven't seen you in forever!" I sort of squeaked. "(Y/N)! You're in danger here. We need to go! Like right now!" I sighed and made a split second decision, seeing Sam, and his other friends run up behind him. "Alright, get in!" I said. I got out of my car, popping the trunk, and stuffing my bags in.
The guys sat in the back, and Sam sat in the front. "Where do you guys need to go?"
Sam looked at me with the utmost seriousness, "Do you have a safe place we can go?"
"Yeah, my house." I said as I drove off down the alleyway next to the decrepit building. 'Man, Boston is not in top shape these days...' I thought as I drove home, to the stately side of Boston. Everyone in the car was pretty quiet, I figured we'd get to formalities once we were safe.
Our house was pretty big, about four stories. About the width of a football field, and the same straight back. After all, I do have six siblings, and parents that are never home. The last time I saw them was about six months ago. It was nothing like our next door neighbor though. His place was ginormous, and had some odd version of Leif Erikson in his front yard. I didn't know the ancient man had such a large cup size.
There are seven of us that live here, which you should know, if you can add. We can't ever be in the same room altogether, because it's just a big risk of an all out brawl between us. You could call it sibling rivalry, or you could say it's because we're the seven deadly sins. I'm Wrath, my siblings are Gluttony (Thomas), Pride (Eva), Lust (Amirah), Envy (Jacob), Sloth (Debra), and last but not least, Avarice (Sly).
Luckily, we got inside to my 'room', which was more like a loft space, without any confrontation from my brothers and sisters, which is odd. I turned to the other four, which were making themselves right at home on my couches, and eating my stash of food. They introduced me finally to Hearth and Blitz. "So, Sam! Why? Who?What?" I asked shaking slightly.
She looked at me with concern, "(Y/n), there's something I need to tell you..."
