Chapter Thirty.

XXX.                                          Heartbreak Weather

Odessa rehearsed what she would say to Robby for days now but it all slipped her mind when she got to the prison. It took a lot of convincing for her to even show up. She wanted to see him. She didn't want to avoid the conversation. Robby wasn't a bad person. She knew him. But he was alone right now. Nobody deserves to be alone in a situation like this.

When she saw him sitting at a table alone, she got chills. He didn't see her yet because his head was down. The officer told her to go inside. Odessa shuffled her feet and that's when he looked up. Robby's eyes went wide. Her heart broke at the sight of his bruised face. "Hi." She exhaled.

His eyes followed her as she sat across from him. "I didn't think you would come." He spoke.

"Neither did I. But I knew it was the right thing to do."

Robby brought his fists up to his face and covering his busted lip. She eyed his new haircut. "You cut your hair."

He grinned. "Yeah. I did it while I was on the run. Didn't like it being in my face."

Her hands interlocked on the metal table. "How are you?"

"Could be better. Although, I really miss In-N-Out." He joked.

It got her to laugh. "When you get out, i'll buy you all the In-N-Out you want."

Robby reached his hands forward. Though there was no touching allowed, he edged them close enough to where there was only and inch between their fingers. "Odessa. . . I don't want you to have to wait for me." He uttered.

She tilted her head to the side. "What do you mean?"

"I saw you, during the fight at school, how you were with Hawk," he started. A nervous feeling bubbled in his stomach. "I see how you are with him. How protective you are. How protective you are of each other. No matter how much he hurts you, you'll always be there for him."

She got teary eyed as he explained himself to her. She didn't know if it was from sadness or embarrassment.

"I was kidding myself for thinking I would be able to compete with what you two have. But I can't. You love him and i'm not mad at you. You deserve to feel all the love in the world and he does love you. Maybe he doesn't know how to show it right now, but he does. I'm so sorry this happened. I just want you to be happy."

"I'm not happy though," Odessa admitted, shaking her head. "I think i'm the farthest thing from happy. I've just gotten really good at hiding it."

Robby desperately wanted to grab her and hold her close to him but he couldn't. He was fighting back the tears.

"I don't blame you for what happened. I did. I spent a lot of time hating you. But I know you and I know it was an accident. You're not a bad person Robby, you've just had a really bad time," she told him. "And even if we're not together, i'll support you. Whatever you need, whether it be visits or emails to talk, i'll be there. You're so tough. Don't let these guys in here push you around."

That was Robby's favorite thing about Odessa. She took care of everyone before she took care of herself. He could see it in her body language and the way she looked that she was tired, mentally and physically. But she was still Odessa, the Odessa he fell for, and even if Robby lost her, he didn't really lose her.

The cafeteria was awkward. People were still talking about the school fight, only now they were talking about how Miguel was awake and would be coming back to school soon. Odessa sat with Oliver, Hailey, and Grayson. Across the cafeteria, Eli sat at a table with his Cobra Kai minions. He was staring at her. She would glance up occasionally and see. Odessa picked at the food on her trey while watching her friends eat with a queasy stomach. She avoided Hailey's eye at all cost.

It was like they were never really friends in the first place, Eli and all of them. They were like completely strangers again only this time, Eli was considered cool. He pretended to not know them. Like they meant nothing to them.

Yasmine sat in the empty chair beside Grayson. They all looked her way with the same blizzard expression. "Um, are you lost?" Hailey snapped and looked her up and down.

She rolled her eyes. "Don't lose your head, Cooper. I'm not here by choice. I'm waiting for Derek."

"You mean Demetri?" Oliver corrected.

"Whatever."

On cue, Demetri came speed walking into the cafeteria carrying a large display that was covered by a sheet. He found them all and quickly headed to their table "Hey! Are you ready to rock. . . our earth science presentation?" He announced and sat the display on the table.

"The nerd jokes are giving me a headache." Hailey groaned under her breath.

"I'm ready to go back to a world where we don't have to talk on a regular basis." Said Yasmine with a condescending smile.

"That makes two of us." Oliver agreed.

"Hey, hey, hey! My popularity's one the rise while yours is steadily declining," Demetri fired back and sat by Oliver. "But, uh, maybe we can meet in the middle. Like a sexual venn diagram." He visualized and winked at her.

"Oh, my god." Grayson muttered as he watched the boy try to flirt but fail miserably.

Oliver rolled his eyes. "I'm going to get another soda." He announced and left the table.

Odessa smiled knowingly to herself. "So, what's under the sheet?" She asked and motioned to the display.

"I'm glad you asked." Demetri pointed at her and stood up from his chair. He grabbed the sheet and pulled it off to reveal his science project of a volcano. "Behold. . . what scientist believe to be the Valley when dinosaurs roamed the earth." He announced sixth a proud smile. They examined his display and looked very impressed. "Go ahead, press the hadrosaur egg." He said to Yasmine.

Yasmine hesitated and pressed down on the small eggs. Bird noises came from the display and the volcano started erupting smoke. "That's cool as hell!" Grayson gasped with wide eyes.

"Good job, D!" Odesa praised.

Yasmin smirked. "No bad. . .My parents may not have to pay for my A this time."

Hailey rolled her eyes. "Doubtful."

As he continued to explain his project, a ball suddenly came flying at them and knocked the display over. Odessa gasped and covered her mouth.

Hawk came speeding over and laughed obnoxiously. "Oh, pff. I'm sorry, man. Looks like my ball just got away from me." He said with a smirk.

Hailey gritted her teeth. "I will rip that mohawk off of your prepubescent head." She threatened.

"Calm down." Odessa said to her and nudged her ribs.

"That took me three weeks to build." Demetri stated and looked completely hurt.

Hawk only shrugged. "Eh, took my ball three seconds to destroy." He said back and walked away with the ball in his hand.

Odessa shook her head and scoffed. "You're such an asshole." She slipped out.

Eli heard her and clamped his mouth shut. He only shook his head.

Demetri couldn't hold in his anger. "Another week, another pissing contest. All though I shouldn't be surprised since you love pissing so much." He sneered.

Oliver came back over with his soda. Seeing the interaction, he groaned. "Oh, no."

Hawk turned back around and looked him up and down. "You landed one kick. You got lucky."

Sam appeared into the argument and Odessa couldn't help but roll her eyes. "Better back off or you won't be lucky." She said to Eli and crossed her arms.

Hawk scoffed. Before he said anything, he spotted Blatt walking around the cafeteria. "Yeah, like you'll start anything, Princess," he said to her. "Actually, why don't you go sleep around with someone new and break his heart?"

Sam glared at him and shoved him with a loud grunt. Odessa and Oliver quickly got up in case a fight broke out.

"What's going on here, Miss Larusso?" Blatt walked up to them. "You know our new guidelines against physical contact. Did she enter your personal bubble without your verbal consent?" She asked Hawk.

"Yeah, she definitely triggered me in my safe space." He faked it.

Odessa scoffed. "Oh, please." They all turned to her. "You're really going to believe that?"

"Is there something you want to say, Miss Beaumont?" Blatt said to her.

She glared at Eli. "You think you're so smart but all you're proving to everybody is how much of an asshole you really are. You're so fake." She nearly yelled.

Everyone went quiet. Their eyes shifted to Eli, waiting to see what he would say back. He only stood there with a deep frown on his face. Grayson released a heavy sigh.

"Miss Beaumont, I'm giving you a warning. Watch your mouth." Said Blatt with a warning stare.

"He started it by destroying my science project!" Demetri defended her.

"T-That was an accident!" Hawk objected. "You probably shouldn't bring your toys to school anyway."

"You want another scar on your lip? Cause i'll gladly give you another one." Oliver threatened.

"Mr. Benson! I don't want to hear excuses. I just want you all to respect each other." Blatt stated, completely disregarding what they were trying to tell her.

"She's right guys. We should stop the aggression. Micro and macro." Hawk continued with his fake voice.

"Oh, give me a break." Sam hissed.

"Consider this a warning as well, Miss Larusso," the Counselor warned. "That goes for you as well, Mr. Benson. Now, get these legos off the ground, someone could get hurt."

When she walked away, Hawk smirked at them. "For you pansies, no space is safe." He threatened and walked away laughing with his goons.

Odessa sat back down and Hailey put her hand on her arm, silently tell her it was okay. Oliver grabbed Demetri's arm and pulled him to sit down. "We have to do something." Sam said to all of them.

Odessa didn't respond. She didn't even look at her.

"Odessa, please. I know you're mad at me and I don't blame you, but please, we can't let them keep getting away with this." She pleaded with the girl.

Odessa looked at her friends. She knew Oliver was on board just by the look on his face and wherever he went, Grayson was there behind him. But Hailey was always by Odessa's side. "Odessa's my girl. If she says no then I say no." She stated and crossed her arms.

She didn't want to keep fighting. She was tired. She just wanted to go home. Fighting with Hawk was the last thing Odessa wanted to do but when she looked up at Demetri, who still had a hurt look on his face from his project being destroyed, she let out a long sigh. "Okay, fine. What do you have in mind?" She asked Sam.

Odessa thought Sam's plan was crazy. She thought she was crazy for agreeing. All she wanted to do was go home. She finished tying to laces of her tennis shoes. "These gym shorts pinch in all the wrong places," Demetri complained and picked the right clothes off of his body.

"Yeah, you're telling me." Oliver agreed and turned around to adjust the front of his shorts.

"Oliver!" She scolded.

"What? I'm a guy, Dess. These things happen."

"C'mon, have a little school spirit." Said Sam.

"Oh, yeah, go Mountain Lions!" Demetri cheered and maliciously made a fake roar sound.

Odessa tied her hair back into a ponytail and she watched Moon and the cheer team practice from across the field. She thought about it often, how much she missed it. The regret ever taking it for granted because she had no clue her last day of cheer would be the end of it. "I'm not ready for this." She said and stood from the bleachers.

"You're not ready to kick ass?" Oliver questioned.

She took the soccer ball and started bouncing it on her knees. "I'm not ready to possibly get suspended." She clarified and bounced from one leg to the other.

"Think of it this way," he said and snatched the ball. He started bouncing it on his knees as well. "Maybe if we hit him hard enough we can snap him back into reality."

That got her to chuckle.

Hawk and his body guards came marching to the soccer field. The group of four scattered around. It was go time. As they played the game, Sam tackled one of the Cobra Kai's on to the turf and stepped on him.

Hawk took the ball and kicked it past everyone, shoving through people and he kicked it into the goal. He jogged past Odessa and winked at her, making her glare at him. She jogging away. Hawk frowned and shoved a boy in front of him out of anger.

Demetri watched what happened and quickly ran to him. "She loved you, you know. She still does. You just have a shit way of showing her you love her back." He taunted him.

"What'd you say?" Hawk challenged.

"You think she doesn't spend her time crying over you? One minute you act like you care and then the next your bullying her friends. It's a big turn off," he continued. "You had a good thing going with one of the hottest girl's in school and you ruined it by becoming a loser!" He shoved his shoulder, making him stumble, and bent down to leg sweeping him. When Hawk stumbled to the ground, Demetri stood over him. "I guess that's why the Europeans call it football."

Oliver jogged past him and smirked. "That was hot." Then, he jogged away.

Demetri's mouth gaped open like a fish out of water.

The game continued and the gym teacher was blowing her whistle repeatedly to try and get them to stop. Odessa kicked the soccer ball and it flew and hit one of the boy's in the head. "Nice shot, Odessa!" She heard Moon cheer from the sidelines.

"Thank you!" She shouted back.

Demetri kicked the ball into a Cobra Kai boy's face. Suddenly, as Odessa kept running, she started to feel nauseous. She swallowed back what felt like spit forming in her mouth. But it kept coming back. It then felt like everything was closing in on her, like she was being restrained, and her breathing started to slow down.

From a few feet away, Oliver stopped running. "Odessa?" He called out.

Spots darted her vision and she stumbled back and fell to the ground. Everything fully went black.

"Odessa!"

The shoving and fighting stopped. Oliver sprinted over and dropped to his knees beside her. "Odessa? Dess, can you hear me?" He asked in a full blown panic.

The teacher blew her whistle again, shoring for everyone to stop moving. Hawk stopped in his tracks and saw what was going on. "W-What's going on?" He stuttered but got no answer.

Demetri ran to Oliver's side. "Oliver, what's going on?"

"I-I don't know. She's sweating like crazy." Oliver stammered while observing her. "Wait, d-does she look different to you, Demetri? Like almost thinner?"

"I'm not the one to comment on a female's weight—"

He groaned and shook his head. "No, Demetri, look!Look how pale she is."

"That's it. Everyone to the principle's office now!"

"I need some help! Please!" Oliver shouted.

"Odessa?" Eli said but was immediately dragged away by the Cobra Kai's.

The gym teacher rushed over to them. "What's wrong with her?" She asked bending down and checking the girl.

Oliver shook his head quickly. "I-I don't know. She just went unconscious." He stuttered and his heart rate increased.

The woman checked her pulse in her wrist and her neck. "She's very pale. Has she eaten anything today?" She asked the boys.

The two of them looked at each other. It immediately clicked to Oliver and he felt like a terrible friend. "N-No. No, she hadn't." He answered in defeat.

"We've got to get her to the nurse. Red, you take her. Demetri, principals office, now!"
