Chapter 10 - Girlfriend
I just walked straight into his house. Joy saw me and greeted me. I said hello back, but I kept walking towards the stairs because I didn't feel like talking much.
I got upstairs and made my way down the hall, towards Calum's room. I walked straight in, and he was sitting on his bed. He stood up and gave me a hug.
"Ror, what are you doing here?" He asked, motioning me to sit next to him. I actually sat in front of him, between his legs, and he hugged my waist from behind.
"Adam and I just broke up."
"How'd that happen?"
"He said that he might be moving. He didn't think we could handle long distance. Apparently, he didn't think our love was strong enough. You were right about him."
"What?"
"You were right about Adam. He's an asshole."
"I'm sorry about him, Aurora. I thought you two were cute together."
"Yeah, well I thought he loved me. I guess we were both wrong."
"Don't say that Aurora. If you love something, you've got to let it go."
"He doesn't love me. He just wanted rid of me. He got what he wanted from me."
"No.." He let go of my waist, and I turned towards him.
"I'm sorry."
"Aurora!!"
"What? I thought he loved me."
"You did not.."
"I did. Calum, I said I'm sorry."
*Calum's POV*
"That's what all of his girlfriends do. They think he loves them, and he fucks them. He then finds a stupid way to dump them. I dint think yours was as bad as others. He once told a girl her sex wasn't good enough, so he was dumping her."
"Are you serious?" She laughed a little.
"Completely," I hugged her waist again.
"Oh my god.."
"You're smiling now."
"Yeah. Thank you Calum. You've really helped," she smiled at me. I then thought of a lyric to finish the chorus in the song I had been working on with Luke.
"Anything for my best friend. You are still my best friend, right?"
"Duh," she answered, and I laughed a little.
"So.. Are you and Katrina, like, together now?" She wondered.
"No.. definitely not. We're just friends."
"Oh. I saw her leaving here as I got here."
"Yeah. We went skating, as friends. Like you and I did as kids."
"Oh okay. I see that you got pizza, too.."
"How do you know that's from today?"
"You always bring it up to your room right after you get it so you can finish it later. You always finish it that night."
"How do you know it's not just an empty box?"
"You don't keep pizza boxes out around your room. You stack them in your closet and when it gets too high, you take them downstairs and throw them away."
"Damn, girl.. How do you know me that well?"
"I have known you for over fourteen years. I've been over here hundreds of times. I know you."
"Fine.. Do you want some pizza?"
"Of course!" She jumped up off of the bed and grabbed a piece. She ate it quickly, but stopped at the crust to ask me, "so if you don't like Katrina, who do you like?"
"Well, like I said, I think she has a boyfriend, but I think they broke up, just a little while ago. I might ask her out soon."
"That's great!" She smiled before eating the crust.
She grabbed another piece. She still didn't understand that it was her. I remembered about the song. I could play it for her. She loves hearing our music.
*Aurora's POV*
"Ror.."
"Yeah, Cal?"
"Do you want to hear a new song Luke and I have been working on?"
"I'd love to! You know I love you guys' music!" I exclaimed, taking the last few bites of my second piece of pizza before I ate the crust.
"Okay.." He got his guitar out and began to play while singing.
"You call me up, It's like a broken record, Saying that your heart hurts. That you never get over him getting over you. And you end up crying. And I end up lying, Cause I'm just a sucker for anything that you do.
And when the phone call finally ends, You say, 'Thanks for being a friend,' And we're going in circles again and again.
I dedicate this song to you, the one who never sees the truth, that I can take away your hurt, heartbreak girl.
Hold you tight straight through the day light, I'm right here. When you gonna realize that I'm your cure, heartbreak girl?"
I began to wonder who this song was about.. I couldn't think of anybody it could be about. Maybe Luke was the one that wrote most of it..
"I bite my tongue, but I wanna scream out, 'You could be with me now', but I end up telling you what you wanna hear. But you're not ready and it's so frustrating. He treats you so bad and I'm so good to you it's not fair."
Oh my god. Is this song about me? It might be about me! I began to tear up, watching him still singing with his amazing voice.
"And when the phone call finally ends, you say, 'I'll call you tomorrow at 10,' And I'm stuck in the friend zone again and again.
I dedicate this song to you, the one who never sees the truth, that I can take away your hurt, heartbreak girl.
Hold you tight straight through the day light, I'm right here. When you gonna realize that I'm your cure, heartbreak girl?
I know someday it's gonna happen, and you'll finally forget the day you met him. Sometimes you're so close to your confession. I gotta get it through your head that you belong with me instead.
I dedicate this song to you, the one who never sees the truth, that I can take away your hurt, heartbreak girl.
Hold you tight straight through the day light, I'm right here. When you gonna realize that I'm your cure, heartbreak girl?

"Oh my god," I covered my mouth after it flung open and kept crying.
"Aurora, don't cry," he put his guitar down and hugged me.
"It's about me. I'm the girl you like. It all makes sense now.."
"You might be," he told me, blushing.
"You said she was dating someone, but that was on Saturday. Today you said they had just broke up, and you might ask her out soon."
"And I also said she's way out of my league."
"You did say that, and it's not true. If anything, you're out of her league.."
"Why are you referring to yourself as her?"
"So, it is me?"
"Of course."
"Cal.."
"Aurora, will you be my girlfriend?" He asked.
"I'd love to," I smiled at him. I couldn't believe it. It was me all of this time, and I didn't know it. Wow.
