Chapter 25 - Positive
March 23, 2023
"Michael... Come here," I motioned him into the bathroom.
"What is it, babe?" He wondered.
"It's positive," I showed him a pregnancy test that I had just taken.
"That's great!!" He exclaimed. We had been trying for so long to have another baby. We had the twin boys, but we were trying for another baby since the boys were a little older now. They were seven.
"I know. I'm excited," I told him. I could tell he was excited too.
"I wonder what the boys will say about having a baby sibling.. They'll both be fine with the sharing part, but having a baby here when we have two seven year old boys, or they will be seven when the baby comes. I don't know how that'll work out. Wow."
"it does sound a little hard, but we'll handle it. It'll be fine. Plus, this will be our second time having a baby. We won't make the same mistakes we've already made. We have parenthood down by now!" I laughed.
"That is true," he paused for just a minute before continuing, "I'm just so happy, babe.."
"I know. How about we tell the boys now?"
"Yeah. Speaking of, where are the boys?"
"They're in their room, I think."
"Okay.. Let's go."
We walked across the hall into the boys' room. They looked at us when we came in and asked us what we wanted.
"Boys, we have an announcement to make," I told them.
"What is it?" Jaxon wondered.
"Yeah, what is it?" Josiah asked also.
"Well, mummy is pregnant.." Michael announced.
"What does that mean, again?" Josiah forgot what pregnant meant.
"It means that mummy is going to have a baby. She has a baby in her stomach," Michael motioned towards my stomach.
"Oh! So we're going to have a baby brother or sister?" Jaxon realized.
"Yeah, exactly. Are you guys excited?" I asked them.
"Sort of, but I like it being just you guys and Josiah," Jaxon looked down at the floor.
"Yeah, me too," Josiah agreed.
"But you guys are going to love the new baby," Michael urged them.
"Babies stink. But if it's a baby brother, I'll be cool with it. I mean, then I'll have someone younger than me to play with. I mean, I don't know if it's a girl," Josiah explained and Jacon agreed.
"You're going to love the baby, no matter what it is. I promise," I smiled at them and hugged them.
"Okay, mummy.." They hugged me back.
"I love you guys," I said before walking out.
"Love you too, mummy.." They both said in sync.
"That could've gone a little better," Michael told me.
"Yeah, but they're going to love the baby, trust me."
"I don't know what it's like to have a younger sibling, and neither do you, so you can't be sure they're going to love it at first."
"Maybe not at first, but they'll warm up to it."
"Yeah. I just wish they were as excited as we are."
"Me too."
