17. Change and Perspectives

You watched as the magical ladybugs surrounded you and the city, restoring everything to it's former glory.

"Y/n!" He called your name as you realized you were still leaning against the ledge Ladybug had sat you down at. Your eyes raised and you smiled softly, seeing Adrien run to you, dressed as his alter ego.

"Chat Noir." You hummed as a cheeky smile laced your lips. "How sweet of you to check on me, you total stranger." He was towering over you now and rolled his eyes at your ridiculousness.

He stuck his hand out towards you. "Come on." He was gentle and you nodded as your hand clutched his. He helped you up and immediately pulled you against his chest. Before, you would've been surprised, but this was normal now. You couldn't deny that the connection between the two of you grew rapidly after his identity was revealed.

"Chat." You spoke without making any other movements.

"Yeah?" His breathy voice spoke in your ear, making you shiver.

"Do you know who Ladybug is?" Your question made him stiffen.

"No—why do you ask?" He had stepped back a bit from you, but still held on to you. You stared up into his eyes, finding yourself getting momentarily lost in them.

You shrugged as you glanced back out across the harbor. "The way she acted with me today—I remember. I don't know why but I always remember what happens to me under the influence of Shadowmoth. She just reminds me of someone but I can't just put all the pieces together." You grumbled, the image of who you thought she was was almost completely clear.

Chat Noir sighed and shook his head. "We have magic suits that block off anyone figuring out who we are under the masks. Let's be honest, they're not very concealing as is." He snorted.

You nodded along, also chuckling. "Ladybug has really similar features with someone I know...I'll just keep thinking about it."

He shook his head. "It would probably be better if you stopped trying."

You raised an eyebrow. "Why?" You asked and he sighed as he leaned his forehead against yours with sleepy looking eyes.

"Because you would be an even bigger target to Shadowmoth, and if that happened I would never be able to forgive myself." His voice was laced with worry and his grip on your waist tightened.

You gulped. "Okay. I won't try." You would try to stop, but you had a feeling that you would have a difficult time not thinking about it.

**

Adrien leaped through the city and held you tightly against him. You smiled in awe as you watched the city move in a flash around you.

"I thought the city was simply beautiful at night, but watching it while flying through the air is astonishing." You gasped as you held to him tighter.

Adrien smiled and nodded his head softly. "It's one of my favorite parts about being Chat Noir."

As he approached your home and noticed your window was closed. He jumped up to the roof and let you stand once more.

"Oh...um-" you stammered when you realized you would have to climb back in through Marinette's room.

"What's wrong?" He tilted his head and you rubbed your neck nervously.

"Marinette probably wouldn't like be going through her room." You sighed and he nodded understandingly.

"I'll take you down then." He simply smiled and held his arm out towards you.

Once you were wrapped in his arms once more, he jumped off the roof and landed swiftly to the ground. Once you were back on your feet you hugged him gently. "Thank you." You whispered as he eagerly wrapped his arms around you.

"Always." He responded, understanding the hidden meaning in your words.

The two of you parted and you turned back to your front door. "Good night, Chat." You turned your head slightly and winked playfully at him.

Adrien lifted his gloved hand and waved at you quietly. His heart pounded in his chest as the door closed behind you. "Good night."

"Luka."

"Luka."

"Luka!"

"What!?" His head shot up and his icy gaze met your own.

"Why are you so spaced out?" You asked, losing your worked up tone, hoping he wouldn't speak with his either.

Luka sighed as he held his head, hanging it low between his legs. "I'm sorry I didn't get much sleep last night." His eyes met yours again and you saw the deep bags underneath his normally shining eyes.

"We could've canceled..." you whispered as you placed your pencil down and walked over to his bed. You slipped off your shoes and sat next to him.

"I didn't want too." He admitted, even though he did at the same time.

Finding out the truth about your sister the night before had kept him up all night. While he thought about you constantly, he found her slipping back into his daily thoughts. He realized he was piecing together old memories of their time together with her identity. If this had happened months earlier, everything would make sense to him. But as his eyes met yours for the third time, it reminded him why this would never be a simple fix.

He had always been certain he loved Marinette, but you and your mysterious eyes were incredibly intoxicating.

"Luka." You had been repeating his name again and he noticed you were growing incredibly irritated with him. He found himself still staring at you, noticing every little detail of your fail. Your eyebrows pulled into a furrow, leaving a deep crinkle between them. A smile tugged at his lips, making them furrow even deeper.

"Luka!" You had his face in your hands and the realization of your current position made his face burn.

"What—are you doing?" He gasped. You looked down and saw your legs had somehow made their way on his lap as you pulled his face close to you to gather his attention.

You gulped and immediately let go and moved towards the far side of his bed. "Sorry!" You waved your hands out in front of you nervously as you squinted your eyes. Luka grabbed one of your flailing hands and pulled you closer to him again.

"Y/n." He spoke in a whisper but his voice was stern.

You blinked, hard, and were stunned into silence from how forward he was being.

"Y/n." When you didn't answer again immediately he broke out into a cheeky grin, "Now I'm the one having to repeat myself." He sighed as he shook his head teasingly.

"Sorry." You grumbled as you looked away bashfully.

His long fingers were cold against your cheek as you felt him guide your face so your eyes would meet his again. Your heart felt as if it skipped a beat in your chest with the serious expression written across him.

"Y/n...what are you doing to me?" The way his words left made him sound breathless.

"What...do you mean?" You asked in a similar tone.

His eyes held yours, feeling like an eternity had passed before he looked away. He let go of you and walked to the corner of his room with his hands laced against the back of his head.

"What are you keeping from me Luka?" You asked, still nervously sitting on his bed.

"Nothing." He was back to using his stern tone.

You furrowed your eyebrows again, growing frustrated with his secrets. "I came here to write a song Luka." The way you spoke almost sounded condescending to him which stressed him out even more.

"I'm sorry I don't think I'll be able to finish it today after all." He sighed as he walked back over and closed his notebook.

"Why are you shutting down like this?" You asked gently, as you grabbed his elbow. He flinched under your touch. Your eyes were wide with confusion being that you had never seen him act this way.

"I'm not shutting down." He turned and plastered a forced smile across his face. "See? Perfectly fine."

"You're being irritating." You groaned as you reached down to grab your back you brought, shoving your notebook and pencils into it.

"Then leave." He spoke with an almost snort.

"I will." You responded through your clenched teeth.

"Fine."

"Fine!" You threw your arms up and walked towards his door, making it evidently clear you were going to leave.

"You're so frustrating."

You paused and turned to face him. "I'm frustrating?"

"Yeah! You're driving me crazy." He gripped his hair, knowing his words sounded like an insult. He didn't understand why he was feeling how he was towards you, and learning the identity of the girl he thought he loved the night before made him even more confused. He knew lashing out would drive you away but he didn't know what else he could do.

"Then let me leave."

"I will."

"Then bye." You snapped as you slammed the door open and left him there kicking over the stool you had been sitting on.

"Dammit!" He screamed, falling to his knees and tugging at his hair.
