Lexie and Hope stared at one another for a moment, as it seemed that a million thoughts were going through their minds.

"You both look as though you're a deer in headlights." Jackson spoke quietly, as Hope snapped her head towards the Avery. "This can not be happening... the point of a one night stand is to never see them ever again." The Rodriguez sighed.

Jackson chuckled lightly, finding this entire ordeal to be very amusing. Hope wanted to punch him in the arm.

Moments later, everybody exited the lounge and headed to the ER, which was already full of patients. "It's go time." Hope spoke, with an excited smile on her lips.

Alex turned to face Owen Hunt, "Okay, where do you want us?" He asked. The Hunt seemed pretty unsure how to divide everyone, "Uh, at this point, anywhere is good."

Jackson was quick to speak up, having a good idea. "At mercy west, we do zones. When it's super busy, we just give everyone a zone, a space. The nurses put a person in that space, you know it's your patient. Helps you get to 'em quicker."

Cristina scoffed at Jackson before she said, "Yeah, well, this is the E.R. Not a school yard. We're not playing four square."

"Did you have any better idea?" Hope asked Cristina, though the Yang doesn't hear as Owen declared, "I like it."

Cristina's face fell, before she turned to Owen, with a shocked expression. "What?" Owen responded, "It's a good idea. Let's try it. What's your name?" He asked as he turned to Jackson.

"Jackson Avery. Dr. Avery, Dr. Hunt. It's all yours. Zone away." Jackson smiled, as he and Owen shook hands, much to the disgust of the Seattle Grace residents.

Hope didn't know what she hated more... being stuck with her former one night stand or being stuck with April Kepner.

The trio walked together, as April and Hope followed Lexie. The ravenette could see that April oozed eagerness and wanted to impress... it showed in her demeanour.

"Thanks for being our tour guide through all this first-day madness." April piped up, looking to Lexie.

Lexie looked from April to Hope, before she brought her eyes back to the redhead. "Well, we both got assigned zone five, so..."

April nodded quickly, "I know it's not like you had any choice. Still, you're a peach to pretend otherwise." She smiled as Lexie relaxed for a moment, "Being the new kid is ... A little scary, I know."

Hope looked away from the pair, glancing around at the unfamiliar corridors as they walked, though her attention was brought back to the pair as she heard April say, "Of course, you were here when that psycho-intern cabal was marching around chopping out each other's organs. Now that must have been scary."

Hope noticed how Lexie tensed up at the mention of the intern and chopping of organs. She had heard of the rumour like everybody else, but truthfully she wasn't sure if she had believed it.

The remainder of the walk was silent, as they approached their patient, who was handcuffed to the bed.

Hope stepped forward, passing April and Lexie as she looked to the patient, trying not to look strangely at the handcuffs that were keeping him on the bed.

"Hi, sir. I'm Dr Rodriguez. These are Dr Grey and Dr Kepner." Hope greeted, as the patient, Billy looked at her. "Oh, handcuffs? I'm not an ax murderer." He stated before explaining, "I just broke in to someone's house. Dude came after me with a golf club, Beat the crap out of me. Look, you don't need the cop. I can barely move."

April crossed her arms, "Roll him." She ordered Lexie and Hope, who both looked at her in surprise for ordering them around, though nevertheless they rolled the patient over to examine him. "We'll keep the cop." Hope added, as she heard Billy grunt in annoyance.

As Lexie and Hope examined Billy, April was scribbling away in her notebook. Hope was used to this, though Lexie was not as she seemed a little surprised.

"He's got multiple contusions." Hope stated before Lexie added, "And ecchymosis over his back. He's gonna need lumbar and thoracic films." She stated, looking to Hope who nodded to agree.

"Down." April spoke as the pair laid Billy back down before stepping away. Lexie then looked to April, "Okay, and by the way, it was one organ... an appendix. It wasn't a psycho cabal." She stated, visibly annoyed by her earlier comment. April nodded, "Oh. Good to know." She responded.

Hope looked between the pair, before she let out a sigh. If they kept this up, it was going to be a long day.

As Hope had expected, the day was certainly dragging on. It got more dramatised when Lexie had stolen April's diary and used the knowledge inside it to taunt her.

Currently the Rodriguez stood by a vending machine, to grab a can of Pepsi. She heard footsteps approach her, but didn't look to see who it was as she reached into the machine to grab her cold drink.

"Hope?" A soft voice asked, as the ravenette turned around to see Lexie there, with a guilty expression. "Hey." Hope answered shortly, visibly exhausted from the drama. She was here to work, not get involved in such pettiness.

"Have you seen April? I really want to apologise to her." Lexie confessed, as she looked away from Hope, feeling shameful. "I have not." Hope admitted, before she cracked open her can.

"Look... I don't like April, but after working with her for years, I know one thing." Hope spoke, as Lexie looked to her. "April is somebody you want in your corner."

Lexie nodded, "I hope she can forgive me." She rambled on, as Hope shrugged. "She probably will. She has a big heart... though don't tell her I said that, my compliments go straight to her head and the last thing she needs is a bigger ego."

Lexie laughed lightly, and noticed that Hope was about to walk away. Quickly the Grey stretched out her arm and grabbed Hope's. The ravenette spun around, her eyes landing on the shorter girl.

"Are we ever gonna talk about—"

"There's nothing to talk about. We were drunk and needed to fill a void." Hope stated, before she took a sip from her drink. Lexie remained quiet, before she nodded. "Yeah... you're right."

Hope and Lexie then stepped away from one another, parting ways.

Now in more casual clothes, Hope and Jackson had left the residents lounge. "What are you doing for dinner?" Jackson asked, half expecting they'd end up at one of their houses making some low-energy meal due to being tired.

"I haven't even thought that far ahead... I'm gonna see Angie first." Hope confessed, as Jackson looked to her. "Okay, I'll see you later?" He asked as Hope nodded. "Yeah of course, see you."

As the best friends parted ways, Hope wandered down a corridor ever so familiar to her, which lead to her sister's room. She unfortunately didn't get very far, when she heard her name being called.

Stopping in the bare hallway, Hope looked puzzled before she heard it again, coming from a patient's room. Curiously, she poked her head in one, and found a blonde haired woman laying in a hospital bed.

"Hi." The woman spoke, as Hope seemed a little confused. "Hi? Was that you calling me?" The Rodriguez asked as the woman nodded.

"I'm Meredith, I'm Lexie's older sister." Meredith said, as Hope nodded, "You're the daughter of Ellis Grey, right?"

Meredith nodded, as she had been asked that question a million times. Hope noticed her expression and could tell that it was the dreaded question.

"How do you know my name?" Hope asked curiously as Meredith was trying not to smirk. "I spoke to Lexie earlier." She said, a little coyly.

"Oh god.. so you know..." Hope trailed off, not even finishing her sentence as Meredith laughed. "You know... I had a one night stand with a handsome man I met at Joe's bar, and now he happens to be my husband." She confessed, teasing undertones in her voice.

Hope laughed awkwardly, "I hate to break it to you but nothing will come out of this. Lexie and I seem to be completely different people." She insisted as Meredith just grinned knowingly, as she had thought the same about herself and Derek once upon a time.

"Why are you here after shift, anyway? Trying to jump in on some surgeries?" Meredith asked as Hope shook her head. "I'm actually visiting somebody."

"Oh.." Meredith trailed off, before she put the pieces together and realised that Hope and their "coma girl" patient shared a last name.

"You're related to Angelina Rodriguez?"

Hope nodded, "Yeah. That's my baby sister." She spoke, seeming a little touchy with this sudden change in topic. "I'm really sorry... we have all been hoping she wakes up soon."

Hope averted her eyes away from the blonde, not wanting to cry in front of her, but Angie was a touchy subject. "So do I. She has a daughter, you know. Absolute ray of sunshine but... she needs her Mum."

Meredith offered an sympathetic smile, before Hope eventually met her eyes. "It was nice to meet you." She said, visibly wanting to leave now so she could go to Angie's room. "It was nice to meet you too." Meredith smiled, before Hope left the room.

"There you are." A familiar voice rung, as Hope met Caroline in the corridor, who was holding Lolita's little hand. "Aunty Hope!" Lola called out, letting go of the Robbins' hand to rush over and hug her Aunt.

"Hey sweetie." Hope smiled, hugging the child back before lifting her into her arms. "How was school?" The ravenette asked.

"It was fun! I drew you a picture... its of you as a superhero because you save people's lives!" Lolita chirped, with a toothy grin. "Cara stuck it on the fridge at your home."

"That's so cute, thank you Lola." Hope replied sweetly to her niece before she looked over at her roommate. "How was the school pickup?"

Cara shrugged, "It was fine. Lola recognised me straight away." She confessed before Lolita grinned. "We got icecream!"

Hope eyed Caroline who felt herself shrink under her stare. "You can't keep taking her out for icecream so much!" Hope spoke in a loud whisper, as if Lolita couldn't hear them. "I couldn't help it! If she asks for icecream am I really supposed to say no?"

"Yes!"

"I can't say no to her adorable little face." Cara complained as Lola giggled deviously as she understood her power of being adorable.

Nearby, Lexie had just left the residents lounge after apologising to April. Stumbling upon Hope, Cara and Lolita, her face fell.

To anyone who didn't know the trio, they looked like two domestic wives with their child... and Lexie thought for a moment that maybe Cara was the reason Hope didn't want to speak about their one night stand... because she was spoken for.

"Can we see Mama now?" Lola asked her Aunt, her nodded. "Yeah... of course." Hope smiled, placing Lolita back on the ground now.

Cara had noticed Lexie glancing at the trio, and looked over at Hope. "I'll wait out here for you." She quickly said, as the ravenette nodded before herself and her bubbly niece approached Angie's hospital room.

Lexie noticed Caroline's eyes on her, and gulped as the blonde approached her. Did she know that Hope had a supposed affair with her?

"Hey. I'm Caroline Robbins." Cara spoke, as Lexie looked at her in surprise, "As in—"

"Arizona Robbins, yeah. She's my older sister." The blonde replied quickly, before she smiled "I take it your Lexie... I remember you from the bar... and I remember you sneaking out of my apartment at 4am." Caroline teased.

"Oh god... you saw that?" She asked as Cara laughed, "No no, I did hear you leave though."

Lexie felt her jaw clench, as she tried to find the words to ask if Hope was Cara's partner, and that she hadn't meant to throw a spanner in the works of their relationship.

"For the record, you're not the other woman." Cara said, as if she could read Lexie's thoughts. "Hope and I had our time, many moons ago... we're just roommates now."

"Excuse me?" Lexie blurted, as Cara seemed surprised by her reaction. "Oh I just... I saw the way you were looking at Hope earlier when I was standing beside her. I just wanted to clear anything up."

"I uh... I don't have any feelings for Hope." Lexie insisted as Caroline almost laughed. She stopped when she noticed Lexie's unchanged expression. "Sorry it's just... your eyes were kinda telling a different story." The Robbins admitted as Lexie was finding herself growing flustered.

Cara smiled a little smugly before she bid farewell to the resident, as she had errands to run.

Lexie watched as Cara left, as the blonde's words replayed over and over in her head. Lexie didn't have feelings for Hope...

But why couldn't she get the Rodriguez out of her mind?
