Thorax had never felt so happy in all of his life as a changeling. Who knew one little dragon could have helped him with his dream to being accepted? He thought it would never happen, and that he would keep on to dream about it.
After the whole agreement of having the changeling around in Equestria, accepting him to be a friend and part of the empire, they had a little ceremony, kinda almost similar to the Crystalling. Only difference is there was no decorations, just a stool to stand upon and a lot of crystal ponies around. The beginning when everypony saw the changeling, they gasped, filling their eyes with fear. They were horrified, feeling their empire was already coming to an end. Heck, one of the mares fainted.
Cadence and Shining Armor had told heir subjects to understand Thorax was no foe or threat, only a friend. Their subjects weren't exactly applied to step up and shake hoofs with the creature. They were scared, but they weren't the only ones. Thorax was afraid somepony would scream if he dared to go a few inches neat somepony. He didn't blame them for being afraid. He felt he would react the same if he wasn't a changeling.
Luckily, one mare from the crystal ponies was giving him a chance. She slowly stepped up to the changeling, not exactly giving away her trust too quickly. Thorax stood where he was and waited for her approval of friendship. Once her shaking hoof was out to him, he slowly lifted his connecting her's, and shook slowly, trying to smile to show goodness. Eventually the mare had smile and saw good in him.
Thanks to this, every mare and stallion came up to the creature, offering their friendship to him. Thorax had never felt so happy in all his life, so much of a wonderful feeling other than the taste of love he use to take with guilt. He knew sharing it would be better than doing what his kind would always do to the ponies.
Since he couldn't go back to his kind just quite yet, Sunburst offer to let the changeling stay with him for he had nowhere to go. They couldn't imagine he changeling living in the castle at the moment.
Twilight Sparkle, and her pupil eventually left the empire, heading back to their town, Ponyville. Spike and Thorax promised to write to each other, kinda like how they lied to Twilight in the first place about being pen pals. Al Thorax needed to learn was how to write exactly with his horn. He didn't use his powers as much as his siblings or queen once did.
A few weeks had passed since the era of his appearance being a threat, and barley did Thorax leave the home. He would spend his time reading books about friendship that Twilight would send to him. He knew even more than what he expected. Sunburst would always go the castle to see Flurry Heart to train her. After all, he is the baby's crystaller, which mean he had to train her with her magic and abilities.
Though the Crystalling ceremony made her powers remain calm, she still needed some works on it. She is, after all, a baby.
Thorax had considered to visit the young Alicorn baby, but he would always assume right away Sunburst would disagree or so. He didn't want to rush of seeing the ponies every so often. Though Flurry Heart was all he wanted to see...
He sat in the messy home of books for Sunburst was getting some into the shelves in a certain order. Not only that, it was another day for the crystaller to train the new baby once again. Thorax tried to think of many ways to ask the orange unicorn if there was a possibility to come as well. But nothing and to him.
"Excuse me Thorax?" Sunburst ran into the kitchen, throwing everything away from him. Thorax watched, trying his best not to laugh. "Have you seen those cookies I left in a bag for Flurry Heart? I'd promise her I give her some."
Thorax blinked at the stress unicorn. "Babies can eat at this age?" He asked.
"Well no, but Flurry Heart loves the chocolate chips mostly and licks them mostly instead of eating."
Thorax wasn't too sure still why he should take some. That just seemed like a waste of dough and chocolate. But not letting it get to him, Thorax spotted the cookies that sat on the counter behind Sunburst. "Right there." He pointed to them.
Sunburst looked up at last to see the batch, thanking the changeling as he took the box and placed it carefully in his bag. But as he looked at the creature once again, he noticed the look Thorax had upon himself after he looked away. He looked a bit disappointed somehow. He obviously wanted to ask the unicorn something. After waiting impatiently, Sunburst says, "Are you alright? You seem as if you wanna ask me something, or as if you did something wrong?"
Thorax felt he did do something wrong, but it was something a changeling, even the queen, can't control. He couldn't explain that to anypony. But he is willingly to ask the orange unicorn. "Well..." He looked at those glasses and then back on the ground. "I was wondering... I understand if it's no, but I was wondering if maybe I can...." He paused for a moment to take a deep breath. Sunburst waited patiently for the respond Thorax tried to think of. "... If maybe I can come with you to. I just wanted to see that baby again.." He felt a bit embarrassed admitting his reason.
"Flurry Heart? How come?" Sunburst asked lifting his glasses back on his muzzle.
"Well.. Honestly it's not so fun being here all the time doing nothing, and I know if I visit Ponyville it'll be impossible without somepony screaming in terror, and well... I really admire to see Flurry Heart." He looked down as he felt he knew the answer of Sunburst's choice.
The wizard unicorn knew now why this changeling was embarrassed and scared to ask, and he didn't blame him. It had after all a few weeks since he creature had barley left the home still trying to make friends without his appearance getting in the way. It must be boring, especially if the changeling doesn't know how to read.... Well depends. Not only that, the castle guards, even Cadence and Shining Armor must be trying to get use to realizing there's a changeling around. But he has become friends with them, so it shouldn't affect the empire anymore if he did visit. Plus, it would be nice to see Flurry Heart's reaction when he arrives with him.
He smiled once the changeling looked back, still waiting for his response. "Hmm..." It took the unicorn a moment to think. But then he finally says, "Of course. After all, I'm sure Flurry Heart would love to see you."
Thorax perked his ears, amazed. He made sure Sunburst wasn't joking. Finally, he could take a break from the home to visit the baby princess. If she's all he can ever see, that was all he needed, especially after what happened. He smiled towards the unicorn and immediately flew rom his seat, thanking him so deeply and happily.
The two finally left the home and entered their hoofs into the castle, seeing he parents cooing at their young baby girl. Thorax found that beautiful for a family like them to always play together, and they look so happy. He felt their love indeed.
Once the two spotted Sunburst and the changeling, they blinked, a bit puzzled. Sunburst noticed and said, "Don't worry. He's here to help me with Flurry Heart. Kinda an assistant."
Cadence smiled, feeling to allow this, especially for Thorax was a friend. But once she looked at her husband, she saw he didn't look too sure. He didn't smile or nod, nothing. She placed her hoof on his shoulder, making him look at her at last. Once he did, Shining Armor watched Cadence lift a brow, trying her best to make her smile to look real. He finally realized that she was saying that he is needing to see nothing harm will happen to their baby. He sighed looking back at the two, reaching his young girl to the unicorn. "Great to see you again Thorax." He said, letting a small smile escape.
"You too, your highness." With respect, Thorax bowed to the two rulers.
They did the same for it was a way for their thanks. Once they said goodbye for their young daughter to have fun, they entered the castle returning to royal duties.
Sunburst looked back at the changeling, seeing his hunger for wanting to say hi. So he turned around to face him, used the magic from his horn to levitate the baby, and flew her to the creature.
Thorax jumped, a bit surprised at the unexpected. He then looked back down to the Alicorn baby, seeing her giggle and smile, happy to see the creature. He smile back and waved his holed hoof. "Hi there, your highness." He said.
Flurry Heart cooed to him, giggling again, basically a hello to him.
Sunburst then announced it was time to train her, so he put her on the ground gently, used the magic again to levitate the patch of cookies, and sit them behind him.
So then they started.

A few hours later...

The training wasn't exactly boring as Thorax thought it would be. The most the wizard unicorn and alicorn did was try to make her magic shine through. Her magic wasn't as powerful as it was during the Crystalling, but it still was developing. She is a baby after all.
Flurry Heart had to try many things before developing to her full grown age.
The lesson was over, so Sunburst then closed his books and put them back in his bag. He looked over to the baby to try and grab the cookies, but seemed the baby had licked every cookie with her baby drool everywhere. He chuckled at her. "You did very well today sweetie." He said. "You still need a lot to learn but we'll get there. Meanwhile, I'll go get your parents."
The unicorn then turned towards to the changeling who watched from behind. "Would you mind staying with her until I get back? I wanna inform something to them privately." He asked.
Thorax looked a bit surprise, but expecting this. He was never alone with the baby, even for a few minutes. He doesn't know how he'll react once the love from her is reaching him. Only once did he hissed at the starvation when no pony accepted him. But he did manage to keep control once, so this shouldn't be hard, right?
"Um..." He took a moment to think of this. But he knew this was an opportunity to get close to her, even if she is only a baby. "Of course. I'd be honored."
Sunburst thanked the changeling and headed up into the castle to find Flurry's parents.
Once the two were alone, Thorax looked back at the baby Alicorn again, seeing her smile again at him. She began to cooed softly and giggle, reaching her tiny arms to the creature. Thorax wasn't too sure how to react to this, or what to do. He only leaned to her, making her laugh even more.
Her laugh was music to his ears. Then he struck his snakelike tongue towards the baby, seeing if she'll find that entertaining. "Roar!" He said playfully.
Before he knew it, the baby just laughed her heart out, finding it very amusing. This filled the changeling with more happiness. He no longer could feel the starvation he would feel whenever he craved for food.
He loved making her happy.
Suddenly, he noticed her face immediately changed. Her eyes were scrunching strangely, her nose was held back as her mouth seemed open as she inhaled some air, mostly gasping. Thorax began to panic, not sure what to do of the situation. "Ah!" He gasped as he flew in the air. "Oh no! W-What do I do?! Are you okay?!"
The baby couldn't respond, and then let it out.
Her sneezed.
Seemed the baby still had some strong magic within her, for her sneeze had once again let it out. She let out her sneeze and the magic from her horn came out fast like lighting. The changeling gasped at the sudden action, and was surprised when the magic flew to him.
It was a bit pressure, almost to be a big hug. The burning from the magic came through his body as he was pushed from the ground and was slammed into a leg of the castle that was held. Thorax finally had a chance to open his eyes and see the baby once again, only she was a far distance.
Flurry Heart reached a hoof to him, even though she couldn't exactly reach him. The changeling tried to stand up and run to her, but then one of his hind legs stopped him. He fell forward, no longer able to stand up without a wince of pain entering him. He looked back to see his hind leg had a cut from the sneeze. He tried getting up again, but he only fell again. "Ow!" He groaned.
The baby Alicorn began to crawl to him, no longer cooing in a cute tone. She couldn't walk, no longer could fly until fully grown, and petted her hoof onto his forehead. Thorax looked up to Flurry Heart feeling her sift hoof comfort him. She cooed, trying to tell him it will be alright.
The changeling couldn't but grow a smile from the love the baby gave. "Thank you." He said softly.
Suddenly, the unspeakable happened.
Flurry Heart turned around to see those cookies still remaining on the ground, and some supplies Sunburst had left out before he went back inside. She shut her eyes tightly, gave a look of fury, and then the magic in her horn began to ignite slowly. Thorax could not believe what he was seeing. Once he saw it, his jaw fell.
Flurry Heart finally used her magic, levitated two things: a package of band-aids, and a cookie. She drew them to her and changeling and open the box. Then came a small little piece of sticky paper being levitated as well. Soon the band-aid fell to the changeling's scar and was placed gently to keep it together.
Thorax looked at his leg, seeing it was healed. He then turned back to the baby with an even bigger smile. "Oh, you're such a sweetie." He said as he lifted his fore leg and petted her mane. Soon his smile was to be big once she gave him the cookie she levitated. Turned out there was one more that wasn't drooled by her. He gave her another thanks, petting his head against her's.
"Wait until your mommy and daddy see that." He says to the baby.
"We already have."
Thorax's ears perked up as he heard the voice and saw the appearance of her parents and Sunburst. They each had a small smile from what they have witness, and Cadence was the first to walk to them both. She looked down to her daughter and did the same to pet her head against her's. "Oh we're so proud of you Flurry Heart." She says. "Just a little more practice, and you'll be doing great things."
Flurry Heart smiled at her mother and cooed softy giving the warm feeling towards everyone.
Cadence looked at the changeling and said, "You must be very special to her."
Thorax blushed at the compliment. He had never felt so important in all of his life. Made him feel even more at home.
Sunburst then was standing next to the princess and said, "We better head off now. We have a lot of stuff to take care of."
"Thank you both." Cadence bowed to them with her gratitude as they both did the same. Then she grabbed her young child and headed back to the castle with Shining Armor.
Sunburst then grabbed his bags and leaded the way to his home along with Thorax behind him. Before the changeling left, he looked back, watching the baby being carried back into re big home. But only did he see her looking back at him, looking so sad. But what could it be?
He then saw Flurry Heart wave her small hoof to him before the doors closed. Thorax's blushed as the baby had said goodbye. He felt his stomach become more warm and fuzzy. He had never been so happy in all of his life.
Then he returned home along with the orange, wizard unicorn.
Along the way, Sunburst came up with an idea. "Hey Thorax." He said getting the attention from the changeling. "You wanted to find a way to Ponyville, right?"
"Y-Yes." He stuttered, a bit embarrassed still he had asked to come int the first place.
Then grew a grin and idea for the unicorn when he knew a way to help Thorax.
