Baby

Emma's POV:
"Granny's for lunch?" I look at my very pregnant fiance with a smile. "You know I can never deny that offer." Regina answers. We get up from our positions on the couch and I smile at the beautiful brunette still sitting on the couch in front of me. All of a sudden, Regina's face twists slightly and she places a hand on her large belly. "Are you okay?" I ask concerned thinking it was finally time to meet our baby. "No,no, I'm fine dear, we still have a few days." She says. I reach my hand down to hers and pull her up. We walk to my car and drive to Granny's together, every once in a while I look at Regina making sure she's okay. We pull up to the little diner and walk in. We are immediately greeted by Ruby who smiles happily at the both of us. "Hey girls, what can I get for ya?" She asks. "The usual please." Regina asks and I help her over to a booth before I slide in and sit down myself. "The usual for me too ruby, thanks." I say with a smile before the tall brunette teen walks off to get our food. Then I see my mom walking to us. "Hey Emma, Regina." She says with a smile. "Hey mom, care to join us?" I ask her and she smiles before sitting next to me. "So Regina, how's pregnancy treating you?" She asks. "Like a bitch. I just want this thing out. I haven't had a decent night sleep in months." Regina groans. I laugh, knowing that her hormones was the cause for her to swear like she has been for about the last month now. "Yeah, that will do it." I say still laughing and remembering how my pregnancy with Henry went.

Ruby brings us our meals, and I take a huge bite out of my hamburger, Regina though, just stares down at her food. "Regina are you okay?" My mom asks. I look up at Regina, who has an odd look on her face and she's staring at her salad, not moving or saying anything. "Regina?" My mom asks again. Regina takes a deep breath than looks at me with worry in her eyes. My eyes lock on hers and I immediately know what's going on. "Oh shit, the baby." I say and Regina nods. My mom looks at us surprised before getting out of the booth so I could get out and help Regina. I kneel down next to her and take her hand. "Can you walk? We need to get you to the hospital." I say and she nods. I help her up and she stumbles a little bit, but my mom helps catch her before she falls and helps me get Regina to my car. "Mom, could you drive us?" I ask her and she nods. I throw her the keys before opening up the back door and helping Regina inside. My mom walks to the otherside of the car and turns it on. I get in next to Regina and close the door with my hand in hers. We begin driving, and that's when I hear a groan of pain slip from Regina's lips. "Hey, its okay, we will get there soon." I say trying to comfort her. "I better not have this baby in this metal coffin on wheels." She said. "Hey Regina, look at me. I promise you won't have this baby until we get to the hospital okay?" I say. She nods and grimaces as another contraction hits her. After a few minutes, we finally make it to the hospital, and an attendant comes out with a wheel chair for Regina. Mom and I help her out of the car and get settled in the chair before we followed the attendant into the hospital.

"Shit!" Regina yells and squeezes my hand hard as another contraction passes. "Should I get the doctor again?" I ask. "No don't leave me!" She says worriedly. I look at my mom who is still in the room and she nods before heading out the door to get the doctor. After a minute, the doctor comes back in, but my mother doesn't, which I'm greatful for, I'm sure Regina didn't want her old enemy to be staring at her vagina.

The doctor quickly examines Regina before taking the gloves off. "Sorry Ms. Mills, you stl have a while to go." And Regina's face falls and she looks up at me. "Emma, please, I need this thing out of me." I squeeze her hand and kiss it gently. "I know baby. Its going to hurt, but it will be worth it, I promise." I say. "Shit, we forgot to call Henry." I say. I let go of Regina's hand and walk over to the table where my phone and car keys lay. I pick up my phone and call mom. "Hey mom, I forgot about Henry. Could you pick him up after school? Ill call you when you can bring him over to the hospital." I say. "Of course I will honey. How's Regina doing?" She asks and almost right on que another contraction hits Regina and she groans loudly. "The doctor said its going to be a while and she's miserable, but I told her it will all be worth it." I responded as I looked at Regina who had her eyes closed and was breathing heavily now. "Alright honey, call me if you need anything." My mom said. "Thanks, I will." I say before hanging up the phone and putting it in my pocket before walking back over to Regina and sitting down on the bed next to her.

Another two hours passed before the doctor finally said it was time. Regina looked at me worriedly. I was standing next to her, my hand in hers. "What if I can't do this Emma?" She asked worriedly. "Your the strongest person I know, you will be fine. I'll be right here the whole time. Squeeze my hand when it hurts." I say and she nods. The doctor puts her legs up and spreads them apart.

"Fuck!" Regina yelled her eyes closed and her hand clenched around mine. "Its okay baby, your doing great." I said as I wiped a bit of sweat of her forehead. "Alright Regina, we are getting to the point where I'm going to need you to start pushing, I'll tell you when, but just try to relax for a bit and take a few deep breaths. Your going to need it." She says and Regina looks at me frightened. "Emma I can't!" She says, tears slipping from her eyes. "Yes you can Gina. I'm right here. We will get through this together." I say and another contraction hits her and hard and she screams loudly and her hand tightens around mine. "Okay, push." The doctor said and Regina pushed as hard as she could. Then layed her head back gasping for air as the contraction passed. "You got this baby." I said to her. Another contraction hit and this one the most painful. She screamed loudly, and squeezed my hand so hard, I wouldn't have been surprised if my fingers had broken. She pushes when the doctor told her to and finally after a few minutes, its finally over, Regina gasping for air laying her head back on the pillow, her eyes closed. 4:52 pm the nurse says. I look at the baby in the doctors arms as it cries as it takes its first breath. My eyes suddenly get wattery and I bite my lip trying to hold back tears. The baby had my eyes, this baby was some how mine too. I look at the baby again and my eyes light up before I look back at Regina. "Gina it's a girl." I say excitedly. Her eyes suddenly open and she looks at me, a huge smile on her face, and the tears from the pain suddenly turn to tears of joy. She lightly squeezes my hand. "A girl Emma." And I nod and the tears trickle down my face and I lean down to hug her."I told you you could do it." I say as she gently wraps her arms around me. I pull away from her and we watch as the doctor checks her vitals before wrapping her up in a pink blanket and handing the baby to Regina. Regina smiles at the baby in her arms, admiring her beautiful blue/green eyes. She looks up at me, a smile on her face when she realizes what this means. "She has your eyes." She says quietly and I nod and bite my lower lip as tears continue to fall. The sight I was looking at was so beautiful and warmed my heart. Looking at my fiancé and my daughter. My daughter. Just saying those words in my head brought tears to my eyes. I never thought I would ever have a daughter. I never thought I would have all of this. I thought as I looked at my beautiful daughter and her mother.

After a few minutes, Regina is moved into a hospital room, where she could rest a little bit more comfortably. I take my phone out of my back pocket to call the rest of my family. "Hey mom." I say happily. "Regina had the baby and you guys are more than welcome to come visit." "Oh my gosh Emma, I'm so happy for you guys. David and I will bring henry over in a little bit. He's been anxious all after noon." My mother says and I laugh. "Alright see you soon." I say and hang up.

I walk back over to Regina and lay down in the bed next to her. I rest my head on her shoulder and stare happily at the now sleeping baby gitl in her arms. "She's beautiful, just like her mother." I say and kiss Regina's forehead. She looks up at me and captures my lips. "She looks so much like you Emma." She says and I look back down at the baby. "Yeah, isn't that kind of weird since Robin is the father?" I ask her. She looks up at me the smile on her face fading slightly."he was the father. True love can do some crazy things Emma, it just so happened that your love for me was what changed the baby to be yours too." "But how?" I asked her. "Must have happened one of the nights we f-" "moms!" Henry said cutting off Regina. "Shhh." I said to Henry then motioned for him and my parents to come into the room. "Hey Henry." Regina said with a smile. I got up off the bed and hugged them as the three of them walked over to Regina's bedside. "Congrats kid, you have a sister." I say ruffling his hair. His eyes beam with happiness as he looks at his sleeping sister in his mother's arms. "Wow Regina, she's beautiful." My mom says. "She looks a lot like both of you actually." David said. Right as he said that, the baby opened her eyes, showing off to everyone her beautiful blue/green orbs. My mom looks at the baby with a smile, then she looks at me. Her face turns to shock, when she notices our eyes. She looks back at the baby, then back at me. "Emma, her eyes they-" "yeah, they're like mine, I know, we were just talking about that when you guys came in." I said interrupting my mom. "How'd that happen?" My dad asked confused. "By true love. What else?" Regina answers. The three of them nod, not wanting to go into any further detail. "So what did you name her?" Henry asks. I look down at Regina who looks at me before we both look at the rest of the family. "We haven't actually-" "her name is Ava. Ava Lynn Swan-Mills." Regina says cutting me off. I hear a gasp from my mother and I look up to see her hand covering her mouth. I look at her confused for a moment, but then I realized what Regina did. What she did for my mother.

Regina's POV:
When henry asked about her name, I knew immediately what I wanted to name her. Emma and I didn't talk it over at all before hand, but I have a feeling, she would be more than okay with the name. "We haven't actually-" "her name is Ava. Ava Lynn Swan-Mills." I say looking up at Emma's mother who gasps and quickly covers her mouth with her hand. I smile at her genuinely. "Thank you." She says quietly. I can tell she's trying hard to hold back the tears. I can tell she knows that I meant this as an apology for everything I had ever done to ruin her life. Even though my mom was the one to kill her mother, I knew that if we were going to be a family, we had to act like one. Emma smiled down at me and our daughter and put her hand on my shoulder. "You know you don't have to do that." She says. "I know. But I want to. I need to." Emma nods, obviously understanding as to the reason behind it. Emma sits back down next to me and puts her finger under the baby's hand who grabs it gently. Emma smiles down at her, full of nothing but love and pure joy visible in her eyes. "Welcome to storybrooke little Ava Lynn." I smile at their interaction. Ava stares up into her mommy's matching eyes and I feel my heart flutter inside my chest. Emma finally looks at me and she captures my lips leading us into a passionate kiss.

I have everyone I love standing over me. I don't know what I ever did to deserve this, but for the first time in my life, I feel safe.
