3rd person:

Nick jumped out the car and walked towards Elle waiting by the entrance of the shopping centre. They hugged, then walked inside and headed to the first jewellery shop they saw.

Nick:

I am so fucking scared. I'm going to propose to Charlie in two days. I asked Elle to come and help me choose a ring because she's one of Charlie's oldest friends and just has good taste in general. I was shaking the whole drive to the shops.

When I saw Elle I ran to her and hugged her.

 We saw a jewellery shop right by the entrance so we went in. After a few minutes of looking at rings that just didn't feel right for Char I saw one in the corner of my eye,

"Elle!" I half yelled

"Yeah?" She said in at a normal volume

"I found the one"

"I know you did. We've known since you first got together with Charlie"

"I meant a ring! I found the perfect ring!

I went to it and looked in closer detail. It was a thin silver band with small stones the colour of Charlie's eyes. It was perfect. (Imagine the stones a lighter blue. The one I wanted to use wouldn't upload so anyway technology is great 🤦‍♀️)

"Excuse me!" I called to the shop assistant "Please could I buy this ring"

"Of course sir, I'll be with you in one minute"

A few minutes later he came over and I paid.

"Is it for the woman you came in with?"

"Hahahaha, no that's just a friend of ours. He doesn't know anything about it."

"Good luck then!"

"Thank you!"

Charlie:

Nick said he was going out for a few hours because Elle said she wanted help with something which doesn't make much sense since I normally go with when they need help  living furniture or building/fixing something since Tao isn't much use for that sort of thing.

It did seem like the perfect time to go ring shopping for him though so I didn't protest. I had been thinking about proposing for a while and now I could finally do it. We were Norma,yk together all the time so I couldn't find an excuse to go before now.

 Tara and Darcy were meeting me at a jewellery shop to help me because I knew Darcy and Nick had gotten close in the last few years. Tara had great taste so she came with too

Soon after Nick left I drove to the shop and waited for them to arrive.

After they arrived and we said all our hellos how are yous etc and then went in. We spent ages looking around but none of them were right. 

We went to another shop and the same thing happened. I just couldn't find the perfect one. We went to two more and it was exactly the same. 

On the fifth one we were about to give up. I still hadn't found anything but then Darcy pointed a massive, ugly one out as a joke but my laughter died quickly when I noticed the one next to it.

"That's it." I said

"You know I was joking right?" Darcy said

"Charlie I'm pretty sure that's not right for Nick" Tara said questioningly

I sighed "Not that one," I pointed to the one I was looking at, "That one."

"Charlie it's perfect" Tara said tears in her eyes

"He's going to love it" Darcy murmured

After I bought it we went to get food. When I finally got in the car I had been out for almost 3 hours and I was worried Nick would be back already. 

Once I had arrived outside our house I sat in the car for a while just staring at the ring. The small stones glimmered in the light and the gold band shined. (Feel free ignore the photos I used I just find it easier to imagine)

A minute later I walked inside to see Nick sitting on the sofa watching Red, White and Royal Blue. I made him start watching it last night and obviously he was enjoying it. I walked behind him and wrapped my arms round his neck. He looked over his shoulder and kissed me.

"I told you you would like it!" I said

"Maybe you were right..." he said 

I remembered the ring in my pocket and walked into the bedroom to hide it. I put it in one of my shoes because he never took those out. For the rest of the night we watched tv and cuddled. After Nick had fallen asleep I was still up thinking about how to propose. I finally came up with something and fell asleep
