Chapter 8

(Lexi’s POV)

The rest of the week past in a blur; my classes were boring, I had a bunch of homework, and I had to stay after school Wednesday and Thursday because I got a detention in chemistry with Zayn on Wednesday for mixing together the wrong chemicals resulting in an explosion and on Thursday Carson and Jaxon had another basketball tryout.

Kylie called me Tuesday night after she got home from Zayn’s house. All she basically repeated was that she really liked him and she wished that he notice her long enough to see that she was staring him right in the face. I felt bad for Kylie because, here she was, majorly crushing on Zayn – and she didn’t have the nerve to tell him and be rejected.

There was something else bugging me. After Tuesday, Zayn has been acting a little weird. He hangs out with us and actually participates in conversations that me and Kylie have, trying to be noticed or something. I am actually starting to think that Zayn likes Kylie. If I could just find out for sure it would make this whole thing so much easier.

It is currently Friday afternoon and the final bell just rang. Surprisingly, Zayn, Kylie, Jaxon, Carson and I are going to see a movie. Right now I am sitting on the hood of my brothers BMW with Kylie playing tap tap revenge while waiting for the guys to show.

The game finishes and I stick my phone back in my shorts pocket. “So, what movie are we seeing?” I ask Kylie while crossing my legs underneath me.

“I don’t know. The guys are picking the movie, but I managed to make them promise not to pick a horror so I hope we go and see a comedy” she replied while leaning back on her hands and swinging her legs off the hood of the car.

“Yea, I am in the mood for a good laugh” I smile and reply.

“OFF THE CAR!” I hear from across the parking lot and look up. There I see Jaxon, Carson and Zayn walking towards us looking ready to leave.

Kylie and I jump off the hood of my brother’s car and head to the back seats. I strategically get in before Kylie – forcing her to have the middle seat. She glares at me because she knows that now she will be squished up beside Zayn the whole ride and I just smirk at her before putting on my seatbelt and looking out the window.

Once Zayn, Carson and Jaxon are in the car, my brother puts the key in the ignition and pulls out of the school parking lot heading towards the Cineplex.

“So, what is everybody doing this weekend?” Carson randomly asks after two minutes of driving.

Jaxon answers first. “Well, I’m going to Cassidy’s this tomorrow.”

Carson slaps his shoulder before replying. “Good job man, new chicks hot” and I roll my eyes at his perviness.

“Dude, I’m not going over to her house for a date. I’m going over because her family invited me over. They just moved in and asked me if I could help with the painting this weekend so that’s exactly what I will be doing. Anyways, I not looking at Cassidy for sex Carson.” he replied shaking his head back and forth.

“Anyways” Kylie cut in before Carson could reply. “Alenna invited me to lunch tomorrow then I’m going back to her house to help her pick out an outfit to impress Zach for their date – like she needs the help. He loves her.” she replied shaking her head.

“Wait a second” Zayn asked turning to Kylie. “Your hanging out with my sister tomorrow?”

“Yes…” she answered hesitantly. “Why do you ask?”

“Oh no reason. She just wouldn’t tell me what she was doing tomorrow and now I know, but I don’t know why she just didn’t tell me she was hanging out with you” he replied shrugging his shoulders. “While you’re hanging with my sister, I’ll be hanging with her boyfriend. Zach asked me to hang out tomorrow after lunch but I don’t know why”

Carson turned around in his seat looking towards me. “What about you Lex? What are you planning to do tomorrow?”

“Nothing. I am going to be in my house bored as hell tomorrow” I said, shrugging my shoulders with my response.

“Well, I’m taking Tazmin to the pizza place downtown then out rollerblading tomorrow, why don’t you come with? Tazmin loves you and I wouldn’t mind you hanging around” Carson asked me.

“Sure, pick me up tomorrow at noon and we’ll go”

Carson nodded then turned back around in his seat. Kylie nudged me with her elbow and I turned to look at her only to see her waggling her eyebrows at me suggestively. I rolled my eyes at her stupidity and returned my gaze to my window.

We got to the movie theatre five minutes later and after a short discussion on which movie to see, we decided on a new comedy featuring Amanda Bynes. While we were all paying for our tickets I noticed that Zayn was being discrete about buying Kylie’s ticket. I shook my head seeing him do that, coming to the conclusion that he probably did have a crush on Kylie.

Once we all had our tickets, we headed towards the concession stand and ordered our respective food. I was hungry so I ordered a large popcorn with extra butter, a medium coke and a bag of m&m’s. The teenage boy working the concession was slightly surprised at how much I ordered but didn’t question me. Carson, Jaxon and I moved out of the way while Kylie and Zayn ordered and once again I noticed that Zayn was paying for Kylie. I smiled when I heard the hushed conversation;

“Why do you keep paying for everything Zayn, I have money”

“I want to pay Kylie"

“But I don’t see why. I am capable of paying for myself”

“Kylie, I want to pay for you. I have more than enough money for the both of us so can you please just drop it. I’m paying”

‘They will be together soon enough’ I thought to myself before they came to join us.

We all headed to the theatre number four and took a set of seats at the top. Since school just finished there wasn’t many people in the theatre so we were mostly alone other than a couple other people scattered throughout the theatre. The seating arrangements went as followed; Zayn at the end, then Kylie, me, Carson and Jaxon on the other end.

Once the movie started we stopped talking amongst ourselves and watched the movie.

About halfway through the movie Carson nudged my shoulder and I looked over at him. He leaned in close and whispered in my ear pointing to my other side. “What’s up with them?”

I looked over at Kylie and Zayn and I almost let out an adorable sigh. The arm between their chairs was up, Zayn had his arm around Kylie’s shoulder, and Kylie had her arm around his waist whilst lying her head down on his shoulder. I looked back at Carson and shrugged. “Who knows? Kylie likes him and I’m pretty sure he likes her back but he won’t ask her out. Personally, I’m all for it. They are really close and I want them both to be happy with somebody they love.”

Carson nodded and we both put our focus back on the movie playing on the screen – which was utterly hilarious.

The movie was over an hour later and we all piled out of the cinema. Alenna was picking up Zayn because they had a family dinner to go to at their grandmother’s but Kylie was mooching a ride off of us. Carson, Jaxon and I were heading to the car when I noticed that Kylie wasn’t following. When I looked back, Kylie and Zayn were sharing what looked to be a warm embrace. I silently “aww’ed” before turning back around and heading towards the BMW.

When Kylie opened the door on her side of the car and got in the car, Jaxon started the car and headed towards her house.

I nudged Kylie after a minute to get her attention before voicing my thoughts. “So…..” I egged her on.

“What?” she asked trying to play innocent.

Carson turned around in his seat and looked at her before I could reply. “Come on Kylie, we all saw you and Zayn close up during the movie and I know that you like him, so what’s up?”

Kylie looked shocked then faced me with a glare. “You told him?” she asked raising her left eyebrow.

“I had to. He asked and it’s not like he is going to go and tell Zayn”

“Fine whatever” she huffed.

“Kylie, we saw him pay for your ticket, for your food and we all saw you guys cuddling in the theatre – he likes you” I said in a determined voice.

Carson voiced his opinion once again. “Yea Kyl’s, no guy willingly pays for a girl who has her own money without having some feelings towards her, whether it be love or lust – it’s there"

Kylie just shook her head and looked out her window. “I’m scared” she finally admitted in a whisper.

I moved closer to her in the car and put an arm around her. “Kylie, you have always been closer to Zayn than anybody else, even when you were dating that douchebag a couple years ago. If you both like each other, what’s so wrong about that? He will ask you out eventually Kylie, and you have to be able to say yes without worrying about the future. Even if you guys don’t work out as a couple – which I assure you is not likely at all – you will be back to being friends because of how close you guys are now.”

“I will say yes if he ever asks me out because I like him so much, I just don’t want to get hurt again”

We pulled over at her house and Jaxon turned around. “Look Kylie, you are like a little sister to me and I can see the way Zayn looks at you, he will never hurt you. Plus if he does, all three of us will beat his ass for you”

“Thanks guys” Kylie said in an appreciative tone. “See you all Monday”

“Bye” we chorused out before heading our own way home.

Sorry for the late upload. I was busy reading a couple of stories on here the past few days but I should update every two days now. The next three chapters will all be focusing on what is happening to each of the characters the next day – Lexi/Carson time together, Alenna/Kylie/Zayn/Zach time, and Jaxon/Cassidy time.
