Chapter  6

*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*

I grudgingly rolled over in my bed and slammed my hand down on my annoying alarm clock. When I opened my eyes, I squinted until the bright red numbers on my alarm clock came into view; 6:00am. “Uugghh” I grunted while rolling over in my bed and getting out.

I picked up a towel that was hanging on the back of my door and walked into my en-suite bathroom – locking the door behind me. I stripped down out of my clothes, turned the water onto quite a hot temperature and jumped in. The shower spray immediately woke me up, along with waking up all my muscles. I took a look at my various shampoos and conditioners and decided to use the coconut combination.

After a thorough lather, rinse, and repeat, I got out of the shower after 30 minutes and dried myself down with my towel. I wrapped my towel around my body and ventured into my room to pick my outfit for the day. I opened my closet and found a cute pair of ripped blue skinny jeans, a brown belt, a white camisole and a green and navy flannel shirt. I found a cute pair of dark green converse that matched the shirt so I quickly picked them up and put them on after getting dressed. After I dressed quickly, I used my towel to dry my hair quickly before returning to my bathroom to plug in my straightener and hair dryer.

After I finished drying and straightening my hair to perfection, I brushed my teeth and applied the little makeup that I usually wore; foundation, a bit of blush and some mascara. When I walked out of my bathroom a while later, I looked at my alarm clock again and saw that it was just about 7:30. ‘Just on time’ I thought.

I grabbed took my phone off of its charger, put it in my bag, grabbed my bag and headed downstairs for a quick breakfast.

When I got downstairs I wasn’t surprised to see my brother and Carson already down there pigging out on cereal and toast like wild animals. “Pigs” I murmured before heading to the cereal cabinet to grab the box of Froot Loops and pour myself a bowl.

When I sat down at the island with my cereal, I took a bite but suddenly realized that Jaxon and Carson were being quiet. I looked up to find them staring at me. “What?” I said after swallowing my spoonful of cereal.

Jaxon stared at my outfit and said “Is that what your wearing today?”

“Yeaa…… why?” I answered before putting another heaping spoonful of cereal into my mouth.

“Because Lexi, with your hair looking good and decent clothes , well, you look hot” Carson answered for Jaxon, who was glaring in his direction.

“Ummm…. thanks? But this is just what I normally wear, I just left my straightened hair down instead of putting it into a ponytail.”

“Well, I guess you look good, but don’t try to attract to much attention from guys alright? You’re still my baby sister” Jaxon said before returning to eating his Cocoa Puffs like a pig.

“First of all, thanks Jaxon, and second of all, since when have I ever attracted guys attention? I am in my junior year and have never been asked out, never been kissed, and never had a boyfriend”

“I’m just saying” he replied before starting to eat again. “Oh! I almost forgot. I’m working tonight so since it’s Carson’s day to drive, he’ll be dropping me off at work after school and you’re going over to visit the Roberts family when school’s over”

I shook my head and faked gasped. “You mean… I… I get to spend an entire evening with THE Carson Roberts – man whore extraordinaire! OMG I am so excited” I finished before changing my expression to my normal bored expression and glared at Carson.

Carson and Jaxon started laughing hysterically at my impression of a crazy fan girl at our school, and it was contagious, so I started snickering at my own joke.

“Oh very funny Lexi” Carson said whilst shaking his head back and forth after the laughter had stopped.

It wasn’t uncommon for me to spend time at the Robert household after school. Almost every time Jaxon had to work a shift at the paint store downtown I would go over to Carson’s house and occupy myself by playing with his little sister. Tazmin Roberts was an adorable little 4 year old and I adored her, she was so cute and loved to help me annoy her brother – maybe that was why I liked her so much. Anyways, the only times I didn’t go to the Robert’s while Jaxon was working was on rare occurrences when my mother had a day off or would be home after school or when Kylie and Zayn invited me to do something. Since neither of those were the cases today – I was stuck going to his house for a couple hours after school. Oh well, I’m sure I would live somehow.

Once all three of us were done breakfast, we headed towards Carson’s truck and headed to school.

Since I we weren’t running late today, actually we were quite early, I was the first of my friends to arrive under the tree that we usually met under before class. After a couple of minutes I saw Zayn strolling towards me and I remembered what Kylie had said on the phone last night. I would try and weasel something out of him about how he felt yesterday went.

“Hey” he said when he leaned up against the tree beside me.

I turned to face him. “Hey. So… how was the movie yesterday?”

He turned to face me as well and answered with “Well, we went to see a horror movie that Zach picked, but it wasn’t all that scary, but I had fun.”

Zayn not thinking that a horror movie wasn’t scary was normal – barely anything could scare him. However, I started to think about what he said; ‘but I had fun’. Could he have had a good time because Kylie was snuggling up beside him for the majority of the movie? I just wish I could ask him outright if he liked her, it would make things so much easier, but I couldn’t do that. No, because then he would think that Kylie had mentioned him and I would be busted, so for now I would stick to meddling in their love lives in subtle ways.

“Cool” I said before leaning back against the tree.

Kylie arrived not much longer with a smile on her face. I quickly noticed that she was smiling directly at Zayn and when I looked at him out of the corner of my eye, he was smiling back at her. Okay I thought, maybe Zayn does like her. When she got close enough I hugged her quickly before resuming my position back against the tree.

“Hey guys. What’s up?” Kylie asked us in a bubbly voice.

“Nothing” I said with a slight smirk in her direction and a nod in Zayn’s. Kylie noticed this however and glared at me before turning to Zayn.

“Okay, what about you then? How was your night” she asked Zayn.

“Fine, I got back from the movie, ate, watched a hockey game and crashed” Zayn answered.

“Cool, so what are you guys doing after school because I was thinking we could go to the ice cream shop a couple streets from here” Kylie asked both of us.

“Sure, I could go for some cold a cold ice cream sundae after today. It’s supposed to be really warm today” Zayn answered

“Okay, what about you?” Kylie nodded towards me.

“You see I would love to” I started while Kylie started to glare at me, “but I am already going to Carson’s after school while Jaxon is at work and hanging out with my favourite little girl” I said with a smirk in Kylie’s direction, knowing that this time it would only be them two hanging out – no older sisters or friends going along.

Zayn nodded his head understandingly and said “Okay, that’s cool” before turning to Kylie and throwing an arm around her shoulder and saying “then I guess it’s just you and me this afternoon mate” in a really think British accent. “That okay with you?”

Kylie just shook her head snickering. “Yeah it’s fine” she said with a glare in my direction telling me not to mention a word about our conversation last night.

When Zayn looked away for a second I just wiggled my eyebrows at her and pretended to zip my lips shut and throw away the key. We laughed at each other before all three of us headed towards the school for homeroom.

I was going to continue writing but if I did it would be a rather long chapter so I decided to split it off here. I will update tomorrow with what happens between at Carson’s after school and I may even put in a bit of Kylie’s POV to show how she feels about her alone time with Zayn if I get some feedback and votes :) Thanks for reading!
