Heart Shaped Love - Chapter 29

Chapter 29

The bell had just rung, ending the school day and I was at my locker putting away most of my books except for Chemistry – I had to write a 4 page lab report by Friday.

When I closed my locker I headed towards the gym where Carson and Jaxon were practising. I could start writing out my chemistry lab while waiting and try to watch Carson as he played.

Usually I didn’t go to the practises unless Carson or Jaxon was my ride home, I just went with Zayn and Kylie when Alenna picked them up but this year, I’ve probably been to more practises then I’ve been to since high school started.

When I got to the gym, I noticed that I was the only one observing the practise. I walked up to the top row of the bleachers and put my bag down beside me, pulling out my chemistry notes and textbook writing out my purpose, hypothesis, steps and observations on a blank sheet of lined paper. During the hour I sat there undistracted, I got about three quarters of my lab written.

I quickly noticed the time and stuff my sheets inside my textbook before placing it into my bag.

The players were just finishing up there last round of circuits and I just sat back and watched my boyfriend dribble down the court and dunk the ball in less than 5 seconds flat. I guess I never really noticed before but Carson was amazing at basketball – just like my brother. No wonder they were the captains of the team.

Five minutes later the players headed to the change rooms to shower and change while I picked up all my stuff and went to wait at the gym doors.

Carson must have taken the quickest shower known to man because approximately three minutes later he was jogging out of the change rooms and headed towards me.

When he was close enough to me, he gave me a quick peck on the lips and threw his arm over my shoulder. “You ready?” he asked, leading me towards the front of the school.

I nodded in response because really, I was nervous. I knew that his parents liked me because they’ve known me for over 10 years and they were like second parents to me. I just didn’t know if they would like that I was Carson’s girlfriend. I’m sure Tazmin would be thrilled thinking that I would be her sister but I was still worried about his parents.

My internal ranting was cut off when we were next to Carson’s truck in the parking lot and he pulled me to a stop. He put both of his hands on my waist and turned me around to look at him. “Are you sure you’re okay Lex?” he asked.

I smiled nervously and hugged him for a couple of seconds before pulling back in his arms. “I’m just nervous, what if your parents don’t want us to be together and then they get mad at me or something and…” I rambled on, only being stopped when Carson planted his lips on mine.

My eyes automatically closed and I sank into the kiss. It was sweet and full of passion but still soft. I loved the way his lips felt on mine and I really didn’t want to break the kiss… but eventually we had to. He broke the kiss after a minute or so and we were both breathing pretty heavily but we were smiling at each other.

“Lex, my parents love you. I think that they suspect that I have a girlfriend but they don’t want to ask me about it because they also know what I’m like with girls. I just hope they don’t flip out and start asking questions when I tell them that the girl that is in my heart right now is you.”

I am pretty sure my heart melted at that last sentence; the girl that is in my heart right now is you. Since recently I had no idea that Carson had a sweet side and I didn’t think that I would get used to it anytime soon.

I gave him another quick kiss. “Just so you know, that was probably the sweetest thing I have ever heard.”

He smirked at me and replied, “That’s because I’m the sweetest boyfriend that you’ve ever had.”

I rolled my eyes and let his arms fall from my waist back to his sides. “You’re the only boyfriend I’ve ever had jock.” I replied.

“Exactly.” he said in a smug tone to which I just punched his shoulder and walked around to the passenger side of the truck.

I opened the door and threw my bag into the back seats since Jaxon wasn’t driving with us today.

Carson put his seatbelt on and turned the keys in the ignition before turning to me. “You ready for meet the parents?” he asked jokingly with a hint of nerves.

In response, I just nodded and grabbed one of his hands as he set off in the direction of our houses.

About 15 minutes later, Carson was pulling his truck into his driveway. His parents weren’t home yet because they usually worked until four-thirty or five.

“So, since your parents aren’t home right now did you want to tell my mom first? She should be home and then we could just relax at my place or yours until your parents come home.” I asked.

He nodded. “Sure, but after we tell Eloise can we go back to mine and watch a movie or something? That way my parents won’t be suspicious or anything before we tell them because we’re always over there.”

“Yeah sure, but I get to pick the movie.” I said smirking as we got out of the truck.

He shook his head chuckling slightly. “Sure Cutie, whatever you want.” he replied kissing my temple and walking us towards my house.

I opened the front door and Carson dropped the hand that he was previously holding.

“MOM?” I yelled, as me and Carson made our way to the kitchen.

I grabbed a cup of yogurt for me and I threw my boyfriend and apple as we sat down at the island beside each other.

“Yes?” my mom asked, as she walked into the kitchen sitting down across from us munching on a couple of veggie sticks.

I smiled at her. “Hey mom.” as Carson simultaneously said “Hi Eloise.”

She smiled at us and raised an eyebrow at us. “Hello…” she said, sounding suspicious already. “Is there anything that you two would like to tell me?” she asked with a smile growing on her face.

My smile grew slightly and I stole a quick glance at Carson to see that he too had a cute smile on his face. “Well, umm, I guess I just wanted to tell you that I have a boyfriend.” I said, and by the time my sentence was finished my smile was so big it was probably considered a full-blown grin.

My mom raised an eyebrow as she smiled at me. “Well, that’s good for you.” she said before turning to Carson. “When exactly did you ask my daughter out Carson?”

I choked back a laugh as she said that with a serious and motherly tone. When I looked at Carson he just shook his head chuckling quietly and threw his arm around my shoulders pulling me slightly closer to him.

He smiled at my mom. “How’d you know it was me? What if her boyfriend was a twenty year old creepy dude that picks out of garbage cans for food?” he asked my mom jokingly.

“Well, firstly I have known that my daughter has liked you for a couple of weeks so I figured if she agreed to be anyways girlfriend it would be you.” she said smiling. “Second of all, you and her have been spending tons of time together since school started and I guess it made sense and finally, it was kind of obvious that you had feelings for her during the summer. I was just waiting for you to act on them.”

I felt my cheeks warm slightly and I noticed that Carson’s cheeks had a bit of pink tinged to them as well.

I looked at my mom smiling and leaning into Carson a little more. “So you don’t mind?” I asked her.

She shook her head. “No, in fact, I think you’re good for each other. You both have never had a relationship before and you’ve known each other forever so there’s not a lot of awkwardness between you two. Besides, you guys look good together too.” she replied, pointing her finger between the two of us.

“Thanks, Eloise. I am glad you are letting me date your daughter.” Carson said in a polite tone of voice.

I thought I saw my mom roll her eyes. “I want my daughter to be happy and right now, you make her happy. She looks at you with a smile on her face and I’m glad she has that.” she replied smiling at the two of us. “Now I just need to find Jaxon a girl and we’re all set to go.”

I looked towards Carson with a smirk on my face and it looked like he had the same idea as he also had a smirk plastered onto his face.

I turned back to my mom. “Well, that’s gonna take much, considering he is currently dating somebody.” I said smirking through my whole sentence.

My mom’s eyebrows flew up past her bangs. “No shit?” she asked while Carson and I burst out laughing.

“We aren’t kidding Eloise. Jaxon and a new girl in town went out last weekend and he asked her to be his girlfriend. He actually seems to really like her.” Carson replied.

“Please tell me she’s not a slut or anything like his usual girls.” she begged.

I shook my head giggling. “No, she’s actually really sweet. She’s smart, funny, a little shy, really pretty and she’s artistic.”

“Yeah Miss.C, she’s actually really chill and don’t worry I’m pretty sure that Jaxon is either her only boyfriend or her second boyfriend.” Carson said.

“Well, then. I guess when Jaxon comes home he’s gonna have some explaining to do. By the way, where is he?” my mom asked.

“He’s out with Cassidy… which would be his girlfriend.” I answered.

“Hmm, good for him. Are you guys hanging around here or you going somewhere?” she asked us.

“Oh, we’re going to watch a movie at my house and then when my parents get home we’re gonna tell them that we’re together.” Carson answered and got up from his seat turning to me. “You ready to head out?” he asked.

“Yea.” I said, kissing his cheek quickly and turning to my mom. “I’ll probably be home after supper.” I told her and gave her a quick hug before grabbing Carson’s hand and pulling him out the door and towards his house.

When we got into his living room, he let me go so I could choose a movie while he made a bowl of popcorn for us.

I went to look at their family collection of movies and saw a bunch that I’ve seen already. I saw looking through the stacks when I saw it… a perfect movie and one I really wanted to watch right now.

I picked up the case and placed the disk into the DVD player, grabbing the remote and sitting on the couch. I skipped the previews and went straight to the menu.

Carson came back in with a large pink smoothie and a bowl of buttered popcorn. He set them both down on the table and sat down, before picking up the bowl of popcorn and placing it on his lap. He threw his arm around me and dragged me towards him until my head was rested on his shoulder and I was snuggled up close to him.

“So, what are we watching?” he asked, getting comfortable in his position.

I tilted my head up slightly to look at him and nodded my head towards the television where, across the screen, showed the title of the movie: Beauty and the Beast.

He raised an eyebrow. “Disney?” he asked and I nodded. He just shrugged and took the remote from me pressing play.

We sat in each other’s arms, sharing a delicious strawberry and watermelon smoothie and eating popcorn while watching a romantic kid’s movie. I had to say that this one of the best time’s I had ever had watching a movie, except maybe last Friday on our date – that was incredibly sweet.

A half an hour later the movie was almost over and we didn’t hear the front door open. However, I did hear the little thumps of somebody running towards us, but obviously Carson didn’t because when I went to sit up he pulled me back towards him and started to kiss me.

I guess I just forgot that somebody was obviously home and Tazmin was probably headed our way right now because all I could do was kiss him back. So, we were kissing on the couch and Carson had his arm’s wrapped around my waist when we heard it.

“EEEEEEEEWWWWWWW!”

I jumped away from Carson and landed on the other side of the couch. Both of our mouths were wide open and my eyes were bulging as I took a look at Tazmin. She was frozen in front of the television looking directly at the both of us.

“I… umm, hi Tazzy.” I said, still shocked.

“Hi Lexi, why were you just kissing my brother? I thought only princesses kiss princes. OH MY GOD, is Carson your prince and your one true love? Are you guys gonna get married and you’ll be my sister?” she asked jumping up and down looking like an excited version of an Easter bunny.

I was speechless. I had no idea how to answer that and when I took a peak at Carson, he was still slightly frozen in his seat, staring at his sister as if she just jumped off the mental train.

Before I could reply to Tazmin, Carson’s parents came into the living room and the movie was long forgotten.

“What’s with all the screaming Tazmin?” Mrs. Roberts asked, but when she noticed how Tazmin was looking at us and how both of us were basically frozen and shocked, she redirected the question. “Does anybody want to tell me what’s going on in here?” she asked looking at all of us.

I bit my lip shyly not wanting to answer so I looked down at my hands in my lap. I’m pretty sure Carson was just rubbing the back of his neck nervously.

Of course, neither Carson nor I answered Mrs. Roberts question because Tazmin decided to.

“Well, Carson and Lexi are going to be married because he’s her princess.” she replied, using the logic that her cute little 5 year old brain could come up with.

Mr. and Mrs. Roberts eyebrows raised slightly in surprise as they looked at Carson and me and then back to their daughter. Mr. Roberts got down in front of Tazmin.

“And why would you think that Tazzy?” he asked, a bit confused.

“Well, I walked in here cause I heard Disney on but I came in here and saw Carson and Lexi kissing on the couch.” Tazmin answered pointing towards the two of us.

I closed my eyes in embarrassment and looked at Carson. He was still rubbing his neck in embarrassment and smiling guiltily.

Carson’s parents looked at us surprised for a second before his dad focused his attention back on Tazmin. “Well Tazmin, why don’t you go to your room and play or draw while we stay here and talk to them. I’ll call you for dinner in an hour or so.” he said kissing his daughter on the forehead quickly.

Tazmin smiled at him.  “Okay daddy!” she said, before running off upstairs towards her room.

Once Tazmin was out of sight, Mr. Roberts got up and stood beside his wife, who had her arms crossed and was looking at us in a surprised manner.

“Carson, I thought you had a girlfriend?” Mrs. Roberts asked him disappointedly.

Carson looked up at his parents a little nervous and nodded. “I do.” he replied.

Mr. Roberts must have understood right away because a smile grew on his face and he looked between me and Carson in approval. However, Mrs. Roberts didn’t quite catch on to what his son had obviously just implied.

“If you have a girlfriend, then why were you kissing Alexandra?” she asked her son.

Carson shook his head slightly, all nerves gone as he was chuckling slightly. I also noticed that Mr. Robert’s face looked very amused at the situation.

Carson stood up and grabbed my hand, bringing me up off the couch to stand beside him. He went slightly behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist, placing his chin on my left shoulder.

“Mom, dad, this is my girlfriend, Lexi Carter.” Carson said with a smile on his face as he kissed my temple quickly and I sank back into him more.

I looked up at his parents and their faces were actually smiling. Mr. Roberts looked proud of his son and Mrs. Roberts looked over the moon.

“So, you guys are together?” she asked us.

I nodded my head and I felt Carson do the same thing.

“Well that’s wonderful. You guys look so cute together… ohhh, I’m so happy for you guys.” Mrs. Roberts said, giving us a hug before pulling back. “I’m just going to go and start dinner, are you staying tonight Lexi?” she asked me.

“Sure.” I said smiling as I nodded slightly.

Mrs. Roberts disappeared into the kitchen and Mr. Roberts looked at us. Carson let go of my waist as his dad walked towards him.

His dad put his hand out and they did that hand shake, hug thing that guys do. After they pulled back, his dad held onto Carson’s arms. “I’m proud of you Carson. You found a great girl and you look happy. Don’t let her go.” he said.

“Don’t worry dad,” Carson replied looking back at me, “I won’t”.

When he said that, my smile grew as I looked at him. Carson walked over from his dad and kissed me quickly. I was a little self-conscious since his dad was in the room so I pulled back after a couple seconds and just hugged his waist.

“Oh, and Lexi?” Mr. Roberts said, addressing me, “you’re always welcome here, and don’t break my boys heart.”

“Don’t worry, I won’t” I said, repeating Carson’s words as his dad left to help his wife in the kitchen.

“Well, that was unexpected, but at least it’s over with.” Carson said.

“Yup, I don’t have to worry about it, you’re parents seems to like the fact that I’m with you.” I replied

“What do you know; I seem to really like that too.” Carson replied, before capturing my mouth with his in a magical kiss.
