Chapter 28

My classes that morning were pretty rough. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t the work that was hard… it was the damn girls that were continuously glaring at me through all three periods. I was just thankful that I had Zayn in all my classes and Kylie in some so I had some support with my relationship. I knew that a lot of girls wouldn’t like that Carson was attached but I really liked him, and he seemed to feel the same way about me so I could care what all the jealous girls though about us. I was happy.

I am happy for Cassidy though and I have a feeling that she might not be getting a lot of glares, the reason being that Jaxon is in most of her classes as they are both seniors. I am glad my brother found a respectable girl for himself though and I can really see them lasting a while.

When the bell for lunch rang I was more than relieved to get changed out of my gym uniform and get away from the girls. Kylie had went ahead because she had to print something off quickly for a class she had this afternoon, so I threw my gym uniform in my gym locker and left the change rooms.

What I didn’t expect was to see Carson leaning on the wall outside the entrance to the change rooms with a content smile on his face. I felt a small smile spread across my face and walked up to him raising my eyebrow.

“What are you doing here?” I asked happily, giving him a quick hug before pulling back.

He grabbed my hand. “Can’t I come and meet my girlfriend to walk her to lunch?” he asked teasingly.

My smile grew slightly at his words… girlfriend. I really liked the sound of that.

We walked together to the cafeteria holding hands and strolling in a comfortable silence.

When the cafeteria doors opened and we walked towards the line, I felt a great majority of the student body staring at us.

I shrank back into Carson slightly and his arm went up to wrap around my shoulder. “People are staring.” I murmured into his side as we moved up the lunch line.

I felt him kiss the top of my head gently so I looked up to find him looking down at me. “Don’t worry about it Cutie. You should know that I like you a lot more than any of the jealous chicks around here so ignore them and focus on the best thing around here… me.” he finished with a smirk.

I pulled away grinning and slapped his chest. “Pig-headed boy.” I muttered as I got to the café and placed a bunch of things on my tray; a slice of meat pizza, a small fry, a medium lemonade, a peach and a cup of blue-raspberry jello.

What can I say… I like food okay.

Carson bumped his hip with mine as we got to the register. “You always did love the big lunch.” he said jokingly and paid for both of our lunches.

I shook my head as we turned and headed to our usual table. “You know you don’t have to pay for my lunch everyday right? I can pay for myself.” I stated.

He just shrugged in response. “I know you can pay for yourself and that’s great but I don’t mind paying for my girl’s lunch. You always eat so much and I know that you can’t afford to eat like that every day of the week. This way, you can eat like a pig every day and I get to see you with a smile on your face.”

I was stunned. That was probably the sweetest thing I had ever heard and I couldn’t believe that Carson had said that too me. I still can’t believe that Carson – the guy I used to think was an obnoxious pig and the guy I’ve known for the majority of my lifetime – is my boyfriend. Before recently, I had never known that Carson had a sweet side and I was really starting to hope that I would get to see that side more often.

As we sat down at our table, I noticed that Zayn, Jaxon and Cassidy were already there. Kylie was in the food line because she was in the computer lab so it was just the five of us. I was happy to see Cassidy sitting here with us because I knew that my brother really liked her. I could tell from the light in his eyes as they were talking across the table that he was falling in love with her. I never thought my brother would fall in love but I’m really glad he found a great girl.

“So what are you up to after school?” Carson asked, throwing an arm over the back of my chair.

I shrugged. “Nothing, why?”

“Did you want to stay after school and watch our basketball practise then hang out later? I mean, we don’t have to do anything big. We could just go lounge around at my place or yours.”

I smiled after I finished chewing my last bit of pizza. “That sounds good. I need to finish a couple biology questions so I’ll just do that while I wait for you and Jaxon.”

“Okay. Oh, umm, quick question… have you told your mom about us yet?” he asked nervously.

“No,” I replied shaking my head, “I mean, I told her that I liked you and all but I never mentioned the fact that we were together.”

He nodded understandingly. “Okay.”

I looked at him, raising my eyebrow as I put down my lemonade. “Why?”

“Oh, umm, well I was just thinking that after school today we could maybe tell our parents that we’re together if that’s okay with you. My parents know that there’s a girl I’m interesting but I didn’t tell them anything and they love you so much that it doesn’t matter.” he stated, a little unsure of himself.

I smiled back at him. “It’s cool Carson. They were going to figure it out eventually and I would like to get it out in the open. I know my mom won’t care but I’d like her to know… I just didn’t know if you would want me to tell her right away.”

He took my face in his hands. “I don’t want to hide my feelings for you or our relationship. I want everyone to know that your mine and I’m yours.”

As his words sank in, a huge smile erupted on my face and Carson took this as an opportunity to kiss me. It was short and sweet, but interrupted.

“Hey!” Jaxon said and we pulled apart grimacing slightly. “I know I let you guys date but I didn’t say you could get it on in my presence.” he said.

Both Carson and I started chuckling and went back to finishing our lunch.

Carson threw his arm back around me and replied to Jaxon’s comment. “Sorry dude,” he shrugged, “but you’re gonna have to get used to it.” he finished smirking and just to prove his point he kissed me again, just a peck, and pulled away.

I smiled slightly and finished my lunch when Kylie came walking over with a half a plate of pasta, an apple and an orange juice.

When she sat down Zayn gave her a quick peck on the cheek before returning to his own lunch.  “So, what’s everybody doing after school?” she asked.

“My and Carson have practise until four and then I’m taking her on a date.” Jaxon replied nodding towards Cassidy as she sent a smile his way.

“Cute, anyways, what about you Lex? Any plans?” she asked.

“I’m hanging around here then me and Carson are going home to chill and tell the rents.” I replied leaning into Carson as his arm tightened slightly around my shoulder.

“So everybody’s going on a date?” she asked.

“Aren’t you?” I replied raising an eyebrow at her and Zayn.

“Nah, him and Zach are planning some trip to a beach house next weekend so I’m on my own.” she replied.

“Oh, that reminds me!” Zayn cut in, “Zach said that you’re all invited to the beach house next weekend. It’s kinda of a surprise for Alenna, and before you guys ask, yes I know what the surprise is and no I’m not going to tell you what it is right now.” he said quickly when he saw how Kylie and I were looking at him.

“So next weekend we’re all going to a beach house?” I asked, looking around the table.

“Sounds good.”

“Yup.”

“Can’t wait.”

“Sure.”

Those were the replies I was met with, and I noticed that lunch was basically over.

I nodded to my friends. “That’s great, but it better be warm because the middle of October can have spotty weather.”

Zayn shrugged. “You can’t control the weather, but if it sucks, we’ll find something to do.” he replied.

“Great, can’t wait.”

Sorry about the long absence. At first I didn’t feel like writing but then I really needed to study for my exams. Now that my exams are over and summer is finally here the updates should be back to normal and maybe even sooner. Hope you all are great and thanks for the support ! xx
