Chapter 2 ~ Texts
I work up to sun rays spilling into my apartment illuminating the living room. My television was still on giving preventing silence from creeping in. I picked up the remote, switching through the channels.
Much to my dismay nothing seemed to interest me. Giving up, I turned on my speakers and played my music I had recently downloaded. As I opened my phone to start my playlist I had two notifications.
2 messages
I opened my phone and looked at the messages.
Sorry this must be creepy, it's Diablo. Don't ask me how I got your number.
I laughed quietly and opened the second message
I just realized I sent that at 3 am
A smile began to spread across my face. I went into my music and clicked on the playlist that had my new songs on it. Soon a new type of sound danced through my lonely apartment. I headed into the kitchen and pulled out my cook book. I wasn't too sure what to make so I opened to the breakfast chapter and flipped to a random page.
Closing my eyes I pointed to a random spot, I held my finger in place as I opened my eyes again. My pointer finger was pointing to a picture of a crepe. I looked through the recipe and got out everything I needed.
Once I was satisfied with all of the ingredients I went to work. Making sure to follow the recipe I had it propped up on the counter and glanced at it from time to time. I mixed everything together and poured it into a pan. Quite fast, the batter turned into a large thin crust like pancake. I flipped over the crepe and let it cook for roughly thirty seconds before removing it and setting it on a plate.
My phone lit up again, I had another message. I decided to take care of the message after breakfast.
I had made at least twelve crepes when I finished. Their salty sweet smell added to the morning. Turning the Keurig on I grabbed out a small cup of coffee mixture and a coffee cup. I set the coffee cup under a small spout and the smaller cup inside the coffee maker. Almost immediately the bitter sweet smell of coffee joined the smell of crepes.
Happily I added some sweetener and some milk to my coffee. I sat down at my table near some large windows that looked out over the city.
I opened my phone to see that Diablo had messaged me.
Would you like to go out to dinner or something today? It's really your choice, don't feel like you have to say yes.
I smiled a little, it had been years since I had been asked out by someone. Though I hadn't known this Diablo guy for very long, so I felt a little weary of saying yes. I hovered my thumbs over my keyboard, searching for an answer.
Sure, where should we go
I sighed, this was a huge risk I'm taking here. I'm going out to inner with someone who's practically a stranger to me.
I don't care it's up to you
I tried to think of somewhere I hadn't been for a while
How about that steakhouse downtown?
I'm down for it, meet me there at seven?
Sure
With that I set my phone down and debated on whether or not this was a good decision.
Well... only one way to find out.
