Chapter 9
The orcs were an easy target, or so Thranduil thought. He slaid quite a few, but suddenly two orcs formed a toss-grip and helped a third orc to jump up and get on Thranduil's horse. The jump was so unexpected that Thranduil was thrown of his horse and onto the ground. "Run!", he shouted to his horse, so he didn't come to any harm. Thranduil was standing hunched, staring at his enemies with narrowed eyes. He took out an extra dagger from his belt. "This elf thinks he can take us", one of the orcs spat in Thranduil's direction. "I don't think - I know I can take you", Thranduil snarled back. The orcs ran to attack him, but like he he said; he knew he could take them.
Thranduil called his horse, Malhtaug, back to him. The horse bumped his nose into Thranduil's shoulder. "Yes, I'm alright", he said and petted the horse. "Let's continue our journey". They were about half way to Fangorn Forest, but they wouldn't make it before the gloom of the night were upon them. Thranduil got a small fire going and had something to eat. He felt kinda lonely. He was usually surrendered by friends and servants at every hour of the day back in Greenwood. He leaned against a tree and stared into the fire. He drifted off to sleep pretty soon.
