Chapter 38

Thranduil and Arieth was on their way back to Greenwood. So far their journey had been pretty uneventful, and they were happy about that. They've had their fair share of orcs and bloodshed for a while. They said good bye to Treebeard, who wished them a safe trip home, and all the happiness in the world when he learnd that the two young elves were getting married. Arieth tightened her grip around Thranduil's waist, leaning her head against his back. She felt so safe around him, he had an aura of tranquility, and she knew as long as she was with him, she would have peace. She dozed off.

Malhtaug stopped, and Thranduil woke Arieth. "Are we there?", she asked. "No, not yet. I wanted to stop and say hi to someone first", Thranduil answered. Arieth looked around. She saw a small cottage, and about a dusin huge rabbits. "Who lives here?", she asked curiously. "Remember the Brown Wizard I told you about?", Thranduil said. "Yes, is this his place?", Arieth smiled. "Yes, let's see if he's home", Thranduil smiled too.

They knocked on Radagast's door. Shortly after the door was opened. The wizard recognized Thranduil right away. "Thranduil Oropherion", he said. "Am I glad to see you!", Radagast was really happy to see the ellon that was in need of his assistance some time ago. "You've learned my full name?", Thranduil asked. "Yes, there have been elves here asking for you", Radagast replied. "And what did you tell them?", Thranduil looked at the wizard. "Just that I helped heal your horse, but I didn't know where you were going", Radagast looked at Arieth who were petting one of his hedgehogs. "And who is this lovely elf maiden if I may ask", he walked over to her. "This is Arieth of Lórien", Thranduil introduced her. "Nice to meet you", Radagast said while shaking her hand. "Likewise", Arieth smiled. "So, I'm assuming you two young adventurers are going back to Greenwood now?", the wizard looked at them. "That is correct. We are getting married", Thranduil smiled, his heart beating in his chest after having said it out loud. He was to be married to the most beautfuil elleth he had ever seen. "That is good news", Radagast smiled. "Your families must be worried about you, having been searching for you for so long". "Yes, we got some of explaining to do. We just wanted to stop by you to say thanks for your help with Malhtaug. He's outside, fully healed", Thranduil said. "More good news. Let me come outside to say hello, and good bye", the wizard giggled.

Thranduil and Arieth waved to the little brown rugged wizard. Thranduil had invited him to the wedding, and a proper invitation would be sent to him when the date was set. But they knew they where in for a lot unpleasantries before any happiness could be blissed upon them. Arranged marriage or not, they had been unloyal to their families' commands, and would have to face punishment for their actions.
