Chapter Three

AMY'S POV

" Shhhhhh, there you go Lyndy." My daughter had finally stopped crying.

" Hey, Amy," Lou placed a hand on my shoulder. I gave her a small smile.

" There's something I need to tell you," Lou whispered.

I gave Lyndy one last pat as she drifted to sleep and motioned for her to sit on the couch.

" Yeah?" I spoke softly as we got settled.

Lou inhaled a deep breath. " Peter has been nagging me a lot lately." Peter was Lou's ex-husband.

" About what?" I tilted my head, confused.

" Amy! He wants us to get back together."

" Lou, this your problem, not mine!" I pointed out.

Lou sat up a little. " I know. But I just needed to tell someone. I can't tell Georgie! At least, not yet. Please, Amy, don't tell her until I've figured out a decison."

I nodded. " Okay. You can count on me, Lou."

My sister smiled. " Now, if you'll excuse me, I should get back inside the house. It's windy out there!"

" Bye!" I said quietly as my sister left the loft.

*******************************

Bang, bang, bang. Whinny.

" Ahhh," Ty groaned.

I groaned too, and rolled over so I was sitting up in bed.

Waaaaaah

Ty and I sighed in unison. " I'll get Lyndy, you get the horses." Ty said. I nodded.

" Hey, Amy?" Georgie was a dark figure standing at the top of the steps. " The-"

" Coming." I broke her sentence. " One second."

When I arrived downstairs, I found Georgie calming down a nervous Pheonix.

" Spartan?" I called, peering into his stall. He wasn't there. And strangely, the stall door was wide open. Some of the other horses were gone, too.

Georgie and I exchanged a wide glance.

" Oh no," I breathed. " They've escaped. And they're probably long gone right now. We have to go, find them."

" In the dark?" Ty's voice asked. I shined the flashlight on him. He was holding Lyndy.

" Yes! Alma's gone, and her owner is coming tomorrow! Plus, Spartan's gone too, Ty!"

Ty sighed. " Okay, you two go. I'm going into the main house to tell everyone. Here, take these," He handed both of us a few halter and lead ropes. " Be safe, oh, and let us know what is going on. If you can." He handed me my phone. Then he glanced at Georgie, who held up hers.

We both got Pheonix and Copper tacked up in no time. And then we set off.

It was time to begin our search.
