-Chapter Eight-

-At the full moon gathering-

After the Quartzpelt situation...

Swiftclaw looked up at the full moon, still laughing over the interaction between Fernfang and the still very panicked Quartzpelt. "What in the bright stars was that all about?" Swiftclaw chuckled after Quartzpelt ran away. "I don't know, and I don't care." Fernfang meowed. "Oof. Would you mind not sitting on me? Its hard to breath." Swiftclaw half said, half wheezed; still half squished under Fernfang. "Ugh. Fine, but just shut up about Quartzpelt will you? If you say another thing about him again I will put a dead mouse up your nose." Fernfang growled. "No promises!!" Swiftclaw mewed after Fernfang got off of her, running towards the leaders stump. "Come back here you fluff brained lunatic!" Fernfang yowled, chasing after her friend. 'Oh boy.' Fierceheart thought. She got up and trotted to where the leaders were talking and sat down watching and listening to them mew and hiss to each other, waiting for her maniacal friends to come back.

Squirrelstar continued to chat with the other leaders for a while, looking up every now and then to see the other clan cats running around and laughing and talking. She saw some of her warriors and a random cat talking then he left and she watched them all look at each other then fall over laughing because of something. 'I'm glad they are all having a good time tonight! I'm just hoping that when I confront Petalstar she will not call a war on Rockcla-' Her thoughts were interrupted by one of the leaders, Beetlestar, meowing "Is everyone ready to start the meeting?".  All of the leaders nodded and they all agreed that it was time to start.

"May the meeting commence." Meowed all of the four leaders, looking out on their clan mate's. "Would it be okay if I begin?" Squirrelstar mewed. "Yes, go ahead." the leaders answered. "The prey is plentiful and our stream is running strong. We have made a few new apprentices; Flowerpaw, Snowpaw and Aurorapaw. They began their training five nights ago. We are about to have new kits because one of our queens had kits three days ago. They do not have names yet though. I have one more thing to say...to Petalstar. Recently one of your warriors attacked our boarder and injured some of my strongest fighters with what sounded like a pack of rogues! What do you have to say for yourself? This is unacceptable." Squirrelstar announced, getting more and more angry by the moment. 'Take a breath. Don't show how angry you are at this fur ball. Stand up straight and confront this worm brain!' The Rockclan leader thought, sniffing the warm sweet earthy air gently calming herself.

Petalstar listened to Squirrelstar's report until she got to the end. "-I have one more thing to say...to Petalstar. Recently one of your warriors attacked our boarder and injured some of my strongest fighters with what sounded like a pack of rogues! What do you have to say for yourself? This is unacceptable." She started getting mad, very taken aback from the sudden change of subject. 'What is this crazy cat talking about! Snakefang said that he was on a patrol with a few other cats, then three warriors of Rockclan attacked him and took off his tail as they ran. H-he didn't lie to me...did he?' Petalstar started connecting the dots and stared in horror realizing that one of her best warriors might have turned traitor.

"Well? What are you going to say for yourself?" Squirrelstar asked Petalstar. She watched her for a moment watching a strange look pass over her face.

"My warrior in question, Snakefang, told me that he was on a patrol with a few other cats then your warriors attacked him. He told me that he fought back in self defense, then one of your more...-how shall I say this-...maniacal warriors grabbed his back and tore off his tail. He came back to camp and passed out." Petalstar answered begrudgingly. She looked the mildly standoffish she-cat in the eye waiting for her to respond.

"What in Starclan's name are you talking about? That's not at all what happened! My warriors are loyal and truthful. They would never lie to me. You can ask the three warriors that fought him and his entourage yourself!" Squirrelstar calmly answered.

Fierceheart continued to listen to the leaders, when her friends quickly hustled over to her. They sat down next to her finally watching the leaders rather then continuing their dumb feud.

Swiftclaw was listening to the leaders, still keeping an eye on Fernfang just in case she tried to swat her. She swished some of the longer fur around her head wondering what the news from the other clans would be. She started getting a little distracted and watched the moon, her blue eyes shining in the light. She suddenly heard the leaders conversation getting a little heated so she looked back over to see what was happening.

"Fierceheart, Swiftclaw, and Fernfang tell me what actually happened. Tell me the truth." Petalstar questioned.

"Um...is she talking to us?" Swiftclaw asked her friends. "Uh...yes? I think so." Fierceheart answered. They all watched the leaders as the attention of literally every cat in the clearing turned on the three. Petalstar asked them a question.

The three cats started to all answer at once. "Me and Swiftclaw can start then Fernfang you can go after us. Okay?" Fierceheart deliberated. "Okay." the other she-cats answered.

"Me and Swiftclaw were on a border patrol and Fernfang had just left on a hunting patrol, and then we caught some prey. We were renewing the border markers when we smelled some Slateclan cat smell." Fierceheart glanced at Swiftclaw indicating for her to talk.

"Then we looked in a bramble bush and found a carcass with Slateclan smell all over it. We were looking around when Snakefang came out from behind a tree then started talking and after a few minutes a bunch of other cats -around six or seven I would guess- came out of a bush and then after that they attacked us! A few minutes into the attack Fernfang joined the battle." Swiftclaw looked at Fernfang signaling that it was her turn to tell the story.

"Well...I was off hunting when I heard some screaming! I ran as fast as I could through the trees and jumped then ended  up landing on top of Snakefang. I was only trying to make your warriors retreat, not rip off one of your cats tails! I apologize deeply. No cat should have their tail ripped off. Swiftclaw was bleeding a bit then we went to camp and reported back to Squirrelstar." Fernfang finished.

"Does that answer your question?" Fierceheart mewed in a sassy growl.

"...Yes. Thank you." Petalstar hissed between her teeth.

"Any other news anyone?" Squirrelstar asked.

"I have a little bit of news!" Rosestar said in a cheerful purr. "We have a few new warriors that join us tonight! Two of our apprentices have been made into keen young and spry new warriors! Shypaw and Shadowpaws new names are Shyrose and Shadowblaze. Aspenclaw, would you mind finding those two and bringing them over here for a moment please? Thank you." Rosestar watched as an orange she-cat with mahogany stripes zoomed off and came back a moment later with two very fluffy young cats. "Here you are Rosestar." said Aspenclaw with a deep bow.

"Um...hello! Uh...thank you for letting us come here tonight Rosestar! This is really fun. Ummmm...I don't know what else to say...heh..." Shadowblaze trailed off looking confused on what to say next. "Yes, thank you all!" Shyrose mewed quietly.

"I don't have any news of great importance, so lets just end the meeting here." annouced Beetlestar.

All of the cats started saying goodbye to each other.

Fierceheart stopped and looked around. She noticed that Quartzpelt was eyeing Fernfang again so she stared at him until he noticed. He looked at Fierceheart and then noticed she was looking at him. His eyes bugged out and he was about to run towards his departing clan mates she suddenly dashed towards him. He let out a squeal of terror then ran after his clan, tripping over a root the minute he started running. Fierceheart laughed and followed after her friends back into Rockclans territory.
