His Annoying Best Friend: Chapter 14

Kai and Ren walked to their last class together, Algebra.

Kai was just silent while Ren was thinking about something.

"Nee Kai, what's wrong with you? You've been cold lately to Aichi-kun and I!" Ren started his acting.

"Psh..." Kai just kept his expression. Ren sighed.

"You never change, do you?" They entered the classroom.

Kai went to his proper seat and Ren did the same.

Their teacher arrived and everyone fell silent.

Kai just remained silent and got his notepad and pen.

He wrote some chords for their song in Music. Someone called him.

"Kai! What is the value of A?" Their professor asked. Kai looked at the equation.

"The Value of A is 5." He said after 5 seconds.

"Good."

Kai sat back at his seat and just continued writing the chords.

Soon enough, Algebra was over and Ren walked over to Kai.

But Kai ignored him and continued writing the chords.

"Kai, I could not help but notice. Why are you so serious in this project? I mean, mostly you don't care ab-" Kai cut him off when Ren noticed it.

"So what if I'm serious in this project?" He said seriously. Kai stood up and got his notes. Ren followed him when he went out.

They saw Misaki waiting for them outside.

"Um.... About our project in Music?" She asked.

"Oh! We are heading over to Kai's apartment now." Ren said, earning a glare from the brunette since he didn't ask permission.

Ren gave him a look that says 'Just Go With It!' and Kai sighed.

"Fine." He said and Misaki nodded.

The two boys started walking to Kai's apartment, while Misaki was trailing behind.

They entered Kai's apartment. It wasn't that big, but it was already home for Kai.
He sighed. "Suit Yourselves."

Kai said and went upstairs. He searched for his guitar. When he found it, his guitar was already dusty so he wiped it.

He played a few chords and he sighed with satisfaction that it was not yet out of tune.

Kai returned downstairs and saw that Ren was singing while Misaki was playing with her flute. Kai sat beside Ren and played the chords that he wrote in Algebra class.

Then Ren started singing.

Misaki started to play too.

After the song, Ren noticed something.

"Kai, you're strumming the guitar in a different way." He said.

"I know, I just wanted to try it." Kai replied and Ren nodded.

"Is our practice over? Because if it is, then I'm going home." Misaki said and kept her stuff.

"Bye, Misa-ki!" Ren said.

"It's Misaki!" She shouted from the distance.

When she was gone, Ren edited something on Kai's notepad.

"What?!" Kai said when Ren edited his notes.

"Misa-ki's playing with her flute, so that part is not needed." Ren said, pointing to the bridge.

"Well, you forgot that she has to sing that part, so she can't play the flute." Kai explained and Ren nodded.

"Kai, you've been extremely serious about this project. Is it because of Misa-ki?!" Ren asked loudly.

"Why?! CAN'T A PERSON BE SERIOUS ABOUT HIS PROJECT?!" Kai argued.

"You're not the type of person to be serious about his project, except if it's about a certain person." Ren said.

"JUST SHUT THE HE-" Kai was shouting but Ren also shouted.

"What?! It's already 6:30 I gotta go!!" Ren excused, then he looked at an imaginary watch and got his bag then ran out.

Kai sighed and locked the door. He went upstairs.

He put the notes on his desk and sat down. He edited some chords while playing his guitar.

When it was already 9:30, he lied down on his bed and tried to sleep. But he can't. He just thought about things, but one question kept him awake.

Why am I so serious about this project, anyways?!
