Chapter 24
A/N: Any random names I say are the Metkayina part of the warriors, hunters. Also, mentions of people from the other reef clans. The Pa'oite clan will be based on Polynesians from Tahiti
--------------------------------------------------------------
You ended up finding Norm who got on his knees begging for forgiveness even though he did nothing wrong but, it seemed he was threatened. The two of you talked for a while at the beach and you were surprised you weren't pulled away for duties watching the other Metkayina working and the kids swimming around on their Ilus.
"I spoke to the Tsahik and Olo'eyktan with Jake who agreed to let you slack off while I am here, so you might as well enjoy it while you can. Also, I noticed that they were putting up a bunch of decorations as well." The sun was high and bright out noticing that just about all the decorations were up for tonight.
"I forget but, the Metkayina invited a couple of other reef clans they're familiar with to celebrate the defeat of the sky people. They should be coming in an hour or so I believe. They always liked coming early as I've been told." The two of you talked for a few more minutes before he was off to explore or something. You were left by yourself and decided to go for a ride grabbing one of the Ilu's and going for a swim not too far by passing Loak and Tsireya on a rock by themselves and not too far away were Aonung and Neteyam. Smiling to yourself you knew then that Kiri and Roxto were together which comforted you because Kiri always was by herself and you knew she loved being alone but, sometimes having company is nice. On impulse, you decided to go see Kentu, since it's been a long time since you've seen him. He liked to hang around right before Three Brothers Rock so, not too far. The ilu listened and took you to where you wanted, the island shrinking in the distance. Once you were there the ilu started slapping the water as you called out for Kentu. In a few minutes, you heard a rumble and disconnected from the Ilu signaling for it to go back and you waited for the Akula to come.
"Ma Y/N" was a term of endearment and when Kentu came close enough you hugged him the best you can and planted kisses across his eyes moving to get on top of him and connecting. You liked to call yourself Akula Makto. The two of you stayed there for a bit talking and enjoying the sun until you saw a bunch of what looked like reef Na'vi coming on a bunch of Ilu's or Tsuraks you weren't sure but, they were coming and it was a lot of them. "Would you like for me to take you back?" You agreed not wanting to wait around because they were coming close and faster. They must have spotted you so you told Kentu to hit the jets and he did with you clinging to dear life back to the Metkayina. Once he was close enough you swam the rest of the way since it wasn't far. Once on shore, you shook your hair combing your fingers through it since you haven't bothered braiding it but, made sure to comb it out every day to ensure no tangles occurred.
"What's the rush?"You turned to see Titu'len with his mate Ar'hika right behind him, both giving you the same questioning look.
"One of the reefs Na'vi clans is on their way, I saw them when I was out on the water." They nodded and you thought that was the end of the conversation turning around but, stopped at the feel of a hand on your wrist prompting you to turn around to see Ar'hika with her ears back a bit. Why was she nervous?
"I know we haven't been the nicest but, I'm sorry for the way I treated you. You didn't deserve it and our daughter loves you, she finds you very sweet." That brought a grin to your face causing the other two to smile as well.
"I am sorry too...here." Your ears perked up in interest when you were handed a bracelet with beads and shells on it your tail wagging in appreciation as you slipped it on your wrist. You grinned at both of them full teeth and all.
"I accept your apology and thank you for the pretty bracelet." The three of you talked for a bit more before the horn for guests blew making you flinch. "I swear to Eywa I hate that horn." You ignored the couple who laughed at your annoyed expression. You turned to them with a head tilt "Shouldn't we greet them? Well, more you guys than me since I am a forest Na'vi." The two agreed to go in front of you and walk, checking only once to make sure you were following. You really wanted Jake, Neytiri, Ranari hell even Ronal but, you would suffice with these two. You saw the newcomers noticing they all had tattoos but, something was familiar about them. You stared as Ronal and Tonowari talked with smiles with the Olo'eyktan and Tsahik of the clan that had your backs to them. You watched as they all talked and you couldn't shake the feeling that you knew them.
"Is that Y/N?" You turned at the sound of your name using a shell clip to pin the hair out of your face as you stared at a group of young people from the other clan running towards you with grins and yelping happily as the older adults looked on with confused amusement. When they got closer you realize who they were.
"NO WAY!" You had three seconds before you had 8 big-ass teenagers/young adults glomping you to the sand talking over themselves while hugging you all at the same time. They didn't give a damn that everyone was watching way too happy to have seen you. The newcomers were from The Pa'oite clan not too far from here and you stayed with them for about 7 months and that was over 2 years ago.
"I NEVER THOUGHT YOU WOULD BE HERE"
"Y/N I MISSED YOU SO MUCH, HOW ARE YOU"
"I WOULD HAVE BROUGHT A GIFT FOR YOU"
"I PASSED MY IKNIMAYA, I USED EVERYTHING YOU TAUGHT ME TOO"
They all were way too excited to the amusement of the Pa'oite who knew you and the other Metkayina who was confused but, amused at the fact that you were just a magnet for the younger generation. They needed to get up though because there was a knee on your chest somehow and someone was sitting on your tail.
"I love all of you but, please get your knee off my chest and my tail." The reaction was instant with you being pulled to your feet and they once again were crowding you as you answered all of them to the best of your ability. You heard chuckles really close behind you as all of the group got in front of you and a hand landed on your waist.
"I know you're happy to see her, she's a wonderful surprise but, you have to share her for a bit." You turned around with a smile that mirrored Ra'aran and his mate Pay'ria. You hugged Pay'ria first since she was closest before moving to engulf Ra'aran in a hug who picked you up and put you back down. You talked with the two of them as the crowd slowly dispersed and everyone started mingling. You forgot how friendly they actually all were. Once the Pa'oite knew you were here it was over for your solitude. They kept you on the beach, the shore, and the water being pulled left and right, underwater and above heads. You trusted everyone without a care in the world what the fuck Y/N. At the moment you were on one of your platonic soulmates Tsurak's talking.
"Y/N, did you find a mate yet?" You were on Te'yoiks Tsurak with him behind you holding you for comfort. You remember how much he hated you in the beginning but, ended up being one of the clingiest ones and it seemed that didn't change now that he passed his Iknimaya. He needed to find a mate he was 23 already! "Y/N" He squeezed your side a bit to get your attention.
"Huh? No, I didn't actually, I didn't bother looking." That was a total, utter lie that you just told but, thankfully he didn't pick up on it "Did you find a mate? You had a lot of suitors both men and women, did you pick one?" He blushed looking off to the side making you turn around a bit and reaching up to squeeze his cheeks together.
"Who is it~ Tell me" He made eye contact with you this time still blushing but, grumbling under his breath. You still understood him though.
"I haven't asked her yet." You squealed this time bringing him in for a hug that he returned just as fast.
"Whoever she is, she is lucky! You'll make a wonderful mate, a good father too since you're really good with kids." His tail wagged fast with a grin as the two of you were joined by a few of the others who did their Iknimaya with him and, you remembered them being part of the same gang who would bully you or try to anyway. Nice to see that they all still are friends.
"How do you like being at Metkayina?" You didn't expect the question so you answered a tad too truthfully
"Fucking stressful as fuck, a whirlwind of emotions, it was up and down and sideways. We fought the sky people, I died-" There was a high-pitched shriek behind you, and next thing you know you're suspended in the air with Ca'reya looking at you with a high amount of concern and on the verge of crying. This is what happens when your mouth is a loose cannon.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!" At that moment you were reminded that she was one of your platonic soulmates and saw you as an older sister on top of that. You hugged her tightly allowing her to squeeze you in a death hold. You spoke loud enough for all of them to hear the entire story of what happened while here including that you died, were with Eywa for a few days and she brought you back for a second chance.
"That explains the new scars" You pulled out of Ca'reya's embrace to allow them to touch the scars on your back and the circular ones in the front from where Ronal through the spears at you. Before anything else can be said the horn blew startling you again.
"I'm never going to get used to that horn." You looked out the horizon to see the other clan coming not missing the way they circled around you protectively. Was it, not the Ta'unui? They were the other reef clan you stayed with for a few months as well and they were really sweet.
"I think it's the Ta'unui clan right?" One of them asked while glancing over at you. You understood why they were around you protectively and it was endearing all the same. However, you were familiar with the Ta'unui clan.
"If it's the Ta'unui clan then I'm good, I stayed with them for a few months and they all were really sweet and kind." Besides the handful of judgmental assholes overall your experience was amazing. They nodded but, were still keen on staying around you just in case. You were worried now looking around to see that Jake had Lo'ak and Neteyam and Tuk and Kiri were with Neytiri so you had nothing to fear. Besides Metkayina has gotten used to them as well. When the reef Na'vi got closer you realized it was in fact the Ta'unui and the first person to see you was the Tsahik who yelled out your name.
"MA Y/N COME HERE!" Her arms were wide open, grinning ear to ear as your protective barrier made way for you to get to her. Once you were in arms reach she snatched you up and placed you on her Tsurak stealing you. You waved to your group of friends missing the way they made faces since I'itcha was too busy talking your ear off.
"I didn't know you were here! How are you? How's your son Spider? It's been so long since I've seen you! You gained weight and scars! You must talk to me and Lo'ane" You nodded along waving to the other Ta'unui who excitedly greeted you back even the ones who didn't like you that much gave you small smiles and grins. It was nice. After all the greetings you were swept up in all kinds of conversations, you didn't know where, how or what was going on anymore. You managed to get a little reprieve from the crowd but, someone found you anyway.
"You're popular little thing aren't you." You jumped turning around to see Jake looming over you with an unreadable expression. "I didn't think you would know this many people." You smiled teasingly at him brushing your tail along his arm as he watched you like a hawk. It was making you nervous, to be honest, but, you pushed on.
"I took the spotlight from you Toruk Makto. Don't worry we still love you." You smiled teasingly at him getting happy when he smirked back even though the look in his eyes never went away. It made you look away, the intensity too much. "I'll catch you later Jakey Jake, I want to talk to the others over there." You were going to go but, he stopped you with a firm hand on your hip.
"It feels like we haven't talked in a long time just you and me. The sky people have left and won't be back for a very long time, I miss ma Y/N. Don't push me away." You just looked at him unsure what to say but, he had left you with a final look over his shoulder and disappeared into the crowds. Out of everyone you were upset with him the least, so, he will be easier to talk to than anyone. You were in a throng of Na'vi not able to see over anyone's head since they all were 9 to 10 feet tall and you were a little over 8 feet, literally 8 feet and an inch tall. To think you thought you were a giant and then you landed on Pandora. You were going to disappear into the throngs of Na'vi when you heard your name being called.
"Y/N! Come here! What's the rush darling?" You turned to see some of the men and women from all three Na'vi clans sitting in a big circle beckoning you over. You looked over to see Ranari with another person you'd spoken to a handful of times. You were going to find somewhere else to sit but, Ranari made eye contact with you and gestured for you to sit next to him so you did with him pulling you in close, he had no shame and smiled with fangs and all making you laugh. This wasn't bad, you felt eyes being drilled into your skull so you turned around slowly making eye contact with Ronal and Tonowari who averted their eyes at being caught. You watched them talk with the other Olo'eyktans and Tsahiks including Jake and Neytiri.
"Y/N." You turned back in the circle to see all eyes on you making you feel self-conscious as your tail wrapped around your leg and your ears tilt forward in attention.
"Yes?" You fought the urge to hide by Ranari's side as they looked at you.
"Is it true you rode an Akula? and how did you manage to fight the sky people?" You unwrapped your tail okay with these lines of questioning.
"Yes! It was impulsive and crazy but, I did manage to ride an Akula his name is Kentu. He is really nice and funny too. I befriended him a day or so before the sky people actually attacked. I had informed my friend Norm to stop the sky people from calling for back up which worked out well." You explained briefly the machines and communication devices before continuing "Kentu managed to get his family and Payakan to help and they helped so much. They had the Metkayina Tsahik and Olo'eyktan's children as well as the Toruk Makto and Neytiri's so I was desperate."
"You think they were not capable of getting their own children?" You were confused looking over to the man from the Ta'unui clan you never got along with hence why you don't even know his name. He and his mate- who was right next to him with the same look- were insufferable.
"I never said that and the fact that you even felt the need to say that proves you thought about it before. That is rude and disrespectful to even entertain such a thought. They do not have the titles Olo'eyktans and Tshaik's for no reason." You saw the snarl on both of their faces as they hissed at you and you simply rolled your eyes continuing your story "As I was saying, I was desperate so I jumped on the ship and got them all off somehow someway uninjured onto Tsurak's to take them back to their parents. I stayed on the ship."
"That was death." You nodded your head in agreement.
"It was and I did die, was dead for a few days but-" Once again you were cut off by the same insufferable duo making your eye twitch and tail move in agitation. They stood up trying to cause intimidation but, it just made you annoyed.
"You're a liar, Eywa does not make mistakes." Before you can even blink or say anything to defend yourself Ranari had already stood up and growled. You looked up at him in surprise never hearing that sound come from his chest and you glanced behind you to see Ronal, Tonowari, and the others standing up with vague looks of surprise. It seems Ranari doesn't really snarl or growl at anyone.
"You have a lot of nerve to proclaim such bold statements about one of our own." Ranari was hissing and pacing back and forth now as you were stuck between watching and wanting to pull him back. It seems none of that was needed "The two of you have been bothering me the whole day. Talking about everyone and anyone, especially ma Y/N. Do you hate yourselves that much? I know I would if I had to look like that." There was going to be an altercation fast but, Tonowari and Lo'ane were faster.
"ENOUGH!" Everything was silenced as Ranari backed down but, was still glaring at the other two with venom as Tonowari looked between you and Ranari placing a hand on both of you and turning around to face the other offenders who were held back by Lo'ane glaring hatefully at you and Ranari. "What happened?"
"That demon claimed that she went to Eywa and came back." You squinted at them tail flicking agitatedly until you felt a cool hand on your back. You turned to the side to see Ronal who was due to pop glaring at the Ta'unui clan members.
"She is not a demon and you will do right to treat a member of my clan correctly." Ronal stepped in front of Tonowari glaring at the other two members. She really was a fierce pregnant woman. "She is Metkayina. She deserves it more than any of you sitting in this circle." She never looked away from the two who started it "I know Y/N and I know my brother. The two of you started it for no reason other than your arrogance. She did go to Eywa, every Metkayina member and Toruk Makto's family was at her funeral when Eywa gave her back." She glanced over at Lo'ane who with force, made his two clan members get to their knees. "Apologize." They were pissed and gritting their teeth but, they bowed and apologized. Once Lo'ane took their hands off of their shoulders they got up and left the circle. Lo'ane walked up to you and Ranari once everyone slowly went back to normal
"I apologize for those two behaviors." Ranari shook his head and you grabbed Lo'ane's hand.
"No need to apologize, they are adults and knew what they were doing. You are not at fault Olo'eyktan Lo'ane." You gave his hand a firm squeeze and let go turning back to Ranari who was already staring at you. He makes it really hard to convince people the two of you are not mates. You glanced over at the feel of a hand on your arm to look at Ronal who was observing you.
"Sit with me to eat later." You nodded knowing you can decline if you wanted to but, chose not to. Satisfied she left you alone to be with Ranari who was still seething but, sat back down almost pulling you into his lap. Whatever.
