Chapter 20
It's been two days and you can finally stand up on your own and walk around a bit. The shawl that Mo'at had left you when she visited your body was wrapped tightly around your waist. You have been cordial with Ronal and Tonowari, referring to them as Tsahik and Olo'eyktan. You didn't have a lot of energy yet but, you were doing good for someone who came back from the dead. You weren't allowed to have visitors but, you were honestly tired of seeing the same faces, you were going to see some of the Metkayina kids if it killed you. You smirked to yourself at the irony of what you said. You weren't going to be so lucky if you fuck around and died again. You managed to walk out of the healing Marui along one of the walkways to the beach when you heard screeches of your name.
"OH MY EYWA IT'S Y/N!" Well, it didn't take you long to be spotted. You turned to see a bunch of kids promptly running toward you, disregarding every rule and dodging all the hands trying to grab them. You sat down and pulled your kuru up to keep from sitting on it praying to Eywa they don't bump you hard enough to knock you out. No need to traumatize them even more. You noticed the girl in the front was Ai'ita who was running with all her might, tears in her eyes. You opened your arms and had to breathe through the ache that shot straight up your spine from your ribs when she threw herself on you.
"You were dead! You promised to come back! and, and-" You shushed the little girl bringing her up to your face and pressing your forehead to hers until she calmed down enough but, was still sniffling. You squeezed her tight feeling her little arms cling desperately to your neck.
"I am sorry for breaking my initial promise...however, I am alive, no?" You grabbed one of her little hands and placed it on your chest so she could feel your heartbeat "See? My heart is beating. I am alive by the grace of Eywa and I have missed you" Your eyes turned to all the other children "All of you." That opened the floodgates and you couldn't breathe but, you laughed. It was breathless but, full of life as all the children started talking and giving you stuff. You heard light chuckles coming from the moms and dads as well as concerned sounds but, you were too happy. You should be resting but, the children made it all worth it.
"I know you're happy to see her but, you cannot glomp her like that." You didn't hear her come up but, you heard how close Ronal was. Tsahik was 100 percent right but, at this point, you were ready to argue that the ocean is black instead of blue knowing that you're dead wrong. Now that you're back with the living, you're finding it hard to forgive her, really hard. You knew she felt guilty, you saw it in her face, in her eyes, and in her actions but, it was so hard to forgive.
"They do not mean to harm me, Tsahik. Come on babies let's give Y/N some space, yeah? Just a little." They weren't happy about it but, did as they were told. Before they left they were sure to give you a giant necklace made out of different shells and beads. It looked like beads.
"This for you... We made it." They stood waiting and surprisingly so did the Tsahik as they awaited your reaction. You inspected it, touching each shell and bead before placing it over your head to rest comfortably around your neck. You looked at all the children with smiles, nodded, and said.
"Irayo." The children's tails were moving rapidly as they clambered over one another to get to you for hugs and kisses before disappearing back to their parents. You watched content on just sitting on the sandy beach, well, to be honest, you couldn't get up off the sand now.
"You should rest." You glanced up at her with a blank expression. You know you should but you wanted to watch. Everyone was busy with the celebration of the Tulkun's return. They were set to come tomorrow and you wanted to see them honestly.
"I will when I can move again but, I just want to sit and watch for a bit." She hummed face showing concern and you thought she was going to go inside to do whatever she had to do but, you were surprised that she sat down right next to you. Her belly was big, and you knew she was about 9 and a half months now. She's due in roughly 2 months and you're happy for her. You know Aonung and Tsireya are happy about having another little sibling. It was silent and you ignored how her fingers gently ran over your five fingers. You allowed it. Sometimes you think of snatching it and slapping her as she did to you. Sometimes you feel like wrapping your hands around her neck and tossing her like a rag doll. You subconsciously rubbed the bruises on your neck that have yet to fade from both her tight grip, one of the recoms grabbing you trying to choke you to death, and, then when you died the funeral wrappings they bound you with. Damn.
"Does your neck hurt?" You side-eyed her and before you can answer she already had a paste and was reaching for your neck. You moved your hand and tilted your chin up so she could have better access. You knew the Metkayina were confused, just a couple of weeks ago she was treating you like a monster, and embarrassed you in front of the whole clan, Tonowari did nothing but watched. They all did nothing but watch, and didn't even try to defend your honor. You hissed at your thoughts out loud but, Ronal mistook it for pain as she uttered an apology and applied light pressure to your neck. You appreciated the sentiment and the fact she was actively trying despite your anger toward her.
"Thank you." She hummed an approval. With a grunt, she stood up and you figured that she had gone inside which you thought was the end of seeing her but, you yelped feeling your arms being tugged gently upwards as you were helped being stood up.
"I have to check up on everyone so come with me." She didn't take no for an answer and it wasn't like you were going to decline. You can ignore your disdain for her if it meant you can get some fresh air and see people. The two of you walked side by side with her tail grazing and lightly tapping against your legs but, it wasn't troublesome. It was nice in a sense. She was greeted by everyone and surprisingly some of them greeted you. The ones who were mean to you, stared until you met their eyes and they looked away. Damn, they all were so pretty too for them to have such nasty dispositions. "Who do you find pretty, Y/N?" You turned in shock to Ronal not realizing you said half of your thoughts out loud. Fuck.
"...I was saying the Metkayina are so pretty for them to have such nasty outlooks on others." She said nothing at that simply nodding and looking around making her rounds. This time she wrapped an arm around yours so the two of you were inseparable. It reminded you of the time you took her to pet your Ikran and the two of you walked through the Mangrove forests. You missed those times. You missed when you weren't hated, or maybe it was an illusion? You weren't sure anymore. The two of you went together with you listening and observing everything around you. You saw a couple more of the children who played with your tail or gave you shells that they found. You were still wearing the necklace they gifted you and even though it was sloppy, it wouldn't fall apart and you were so proud of it.
"The hunting party should be back in a few, let's wait for their return." You tried to hide your excitement as the two of you waited on the beach. You were excited to see Jake, Ranari, and even Tonowari. Ronal and yourself found a rock ledge to sit on and let your feet wade in the water watching the horizon to see the hunting party coming back. Your tail swayed happily bumping hers that was swaying slower than your content. You looked at her again and something possessed you to talk a little about yourself to her.
"You remember when I washed up on your shore all those months ago." She stared at you giving a short nod. "The Metkayina is the third reef Na'vi clan I have traveled to. Overall, you are the 15th clan I had the pleasure of being a part of in all my years of being on Pandora." Her eyes widen considerably and all you did was smile at her. You reached your hand out to pat her hand, giving it a light squeeze and turning back around to see the hunting party was almost here. "Your mate and your people are here." You saw her wince a bit, her face going back to its resting face as Tonowari made his way to her, looking at you in just as much surprise.
"Ma Ronal, Y/N" You gave him a smile letting your tail move around and brush against his thigh turning your attention to behind him where you saw Ranari trying in vain to avoid the glare Jake was giving him. You were torn between wanting to talk to Jake or even Ranari especially since you haven't talked to him since...you came back. Jake seemed to have caught your attention since he turned and you two made eye contact. With zero care for anyone, he threw the fish at Ranari who scrambled to catch it as he made a beeline straight for you giving a half-hearted greeting to Ronal grabbing you with a firm gentleness. You laughed when his tail wouldn't stop wagging wildly hitting Tonowari who gave a huff of amusement. Jake caught himself, so he took a seat with his back straightened in front of you instead of looming over you with a smile.
"It's nice to see you out, you look better too. Do you think you can have dinner with us at the marui tonight?" He turned to Ronal waiting for the Tsahik to give her permission. You turned to her with a head tilt okay with anything she said even though you were leaning more towards her saying yes.
"Just be sure to bring her back once dinner is done." Your tail wagged happily grinning at her all teeth and she gave you a half grin in return. Jake satisfied placed a kiss on your forehead and disappeared along with Tonowari leaving you and Ronal alone. It was calm silence until she sat up with a grunt going to get up "Do you wish to stay a little longer?" She waited patiently for you to answer
"Yes, I'll be back in the Marui soon." She stared at you a little longer nodding with a smile and got up leaving you alone on the rock ledge. You were hoping you can get to talk to Ranari for a bit or even just hug him. He wasn't allowed to come and visit and you strongly believed that was Jake's and Neytiri's doing. Honestly, they had a right to dislike the Metkayina but, you can forgive Ranari, you just wanted to hug him.
"Ma, Y/N." You heard a quiet voice jolting and looked down to see Ranari looking up at you in awe, unblinking. His eyes remained on yours as he slowly moved his hands to your feet caressing them. "Ma Y/N." He whispered that again hands sliding up from your feet to your ankles, up your long legs resting on your thighs. He was closer to you this time just looking at you. "Ma Y/N" It seemed he was in a trance his hands gripping your thighs and pulling you more towards him. He was in between your legs now, his chest almost pressing fully against yours as one hand went to your hips and his other hand wrapped around your upper back. "Ma Y/N" He pulled you fully against him, pulling you the rest of the way into the water gently but, he never let you go. He had you flush against him pulling your legs to wrap around his hips/waist so you followed suit with your arms around his neck. You looked around nervous that his friends will make fun of him but, it seemed he read your mind. "I don't care."
"Don't care?" He shook his head vehemently pressing kisses to your neck up the side of your face to your ear.
"Let them say what they want, I don't care anymore. I thank Eywa every day for bringing you back. I missed you and I'm not going to let them stop me from being with you." He stuck his face back into your neck taking a deep whiff and pulling back a bit. "You did so much for our clan and what did we do? We hurt you, treated you like a monster, hell my sister hurt you the most but, that's no excuse. You saved a clan and people from the real monsters. You're a hero." His grip on you was tight as he dove in planting kisses all over your face including the corners of your mouth. You allowed it, your tail wrapped around his with a smile on your face. He was 100 percent your soulmate but, you couldn't figure out what kind. Feelings were too confusing. You just went with what felt right with no labels.
"I'm going to let you finish up the ceremony for the Tulkuns and I'm going to head back to the Marui with the Tsahik." He grunted with an eye roll not pleased but, knowing nothing could be done about it. He nipped your ear playfully, pulling the two of you all the way out of the water onto the rock ledge. He huffed wiping the water out his eyes as he stood up and grabbed you to put you back on your feet.
"I'll come to find you tomorrow. I want you to talk with my spirit brother again." He looked at you up and down with a sincere smile, placed a kiss on your nose, and disappeared back to do his duties ignoring his friends smirking and poking at him looking in between you and him. You stood there for a minute thinking. You looked up to the sky with a grin and made your way back to the Marui passing by Ranari and his friends ignoring the burns on the back of your head. You turned left feeling a different kind of burn almost flinching at the glare the woman was looking at you with. Ah, great, someone is in love with Ranari and you were making her worried. As your fingers ghosted over where he was holding and touching you, you figured the worry is warranted.

This has officially turned into an OC background character/Y/N situation as well as Ronal/Tonowari x Y/N and Jake/Neytiri x Y/N. Also, I have the rest of the story written already as drafts :)
