Chapter 6: Discussion Conference:

It's been more than two weeks since Wei Wuxian has started teaching the Lan juniors. Every afternoon he goes to Lanshi and teaches eventhough he likes teaching practical stuff over theoretical things but at least the lessons have his time occupied, today was no exception.

Wei Wuxian, with a bunch of scrolls in arms, made his way to Lanshi.

Upon crossing the threshold of Lanshi he elegantly walked to the table on the podium and nodded to the greeting.

"There, there kids, sit down, sit down, enough of the formalities." He said, lazily.

"So, guess what we are going to study today?" Wei Wuxian asked with a smile.

Lan Jingyi, "About spirits?"

Wei Wuxian, "Interesting subject but let's keep it for some other day. Today we are going to study about something else."

Shen YuanXi, "Talismans?"

Wei Wuxian wagged a finger playfully, "Nuh-uh."

Wei Wuxian said, "Let me give a little hint to you ducklings."

Xie YiZhen sputtered, "D..ducklings?."

Lan Jingyi who was sitting in front of him shushed him, "Hush! Let him."

Wei Wuxian spoke in a riddling tone, "Hm, they are complex, they are easy; they are a speciality of people residing at a tower washed in gold. Complex, easy, hard, moderate; in many types they are told. Some forbidden, some common, rituals or not that's simple to tell. Sparks amidst snow, most of them the peonies know.

So tell me what they are?"

A pause. Wei Wuxian glanced over at the juniors and all of them were wearing expressions of contemplation.

Lan Sizhui raised his hand and said "Senior Wei, I think I get it."

"Ah! Sizhui you know? Aw, poor me, I was having fun, seeing you struggle, but it seems like Sizhui has come to rescue y'all. Tell me what you think is the answer?" Wei Wuxian spoke with a teasing lilt.

Lan Sizhui's face flushed for a moment, before he got serious and answered, "Senior Wei you said 'They are complex, they are easy; they are a speciality of people residing at a tower washed in gold.' in my understanding, 'A tower washed in gold.' should be Koi Tower, and you said 'Complex, easy, hard, moderate; in many types they are told.' What could be complex but easy too? What could be hard but moderate too?

Then you said 'Some forbidden, some common; rituals or not that's simple to tell. Sparks amidst snow, most of them the peonies know.' That's fairly easy now, Some are forbidden, some are common, what could they be? That's easy in the first part of the last line you said 'Sparks amidst snow.' and all of us know that the heraldry of the LanlingJin Sect is a Sparks Amidst Snow and then'Most about them the peonies know.' This last line clearly points towards the LanlingJin Sect, so I believe the answer is Arrays because the LanlingJin Sect specializes in Arrays." Lan Sizhui finished, inhaling deeply.

"Ayo! Excellent! Sizhui, excellent! I knew you would be able to answer but woah!! This was a better analysis than I expected. Now sit down and we shall start today's class." Wei Wuxian cheered.

Lan Sizhui smiled and sat down, Lan Jingyi who was sitting on the seat beside his whispered, "Oof, Sizhui that was impressive."

"Thank you, Jingyi." Lan Sizhui said, embarrassed.

Lan Jingyi nodded with a smile.

"There, there, my dear problem child! Look at the front, I'm teaching here." Wei Wuxian said, casually.

"Yes, Senior Wei!" Lan Jingyi answered, abruptly turning his head, looking at Wei Wuxian, causing the latter to crack up in laughter.

"Let us start!" Wei Wuxian said.

He picked up a scroll from the desk and read it.

"I'm sure you guys know the basics of Arrays and their definition but let's go with it either way.

Arrays (咒阵) Zhòu zhèn—› Arrays are magical formations drawn on the ground for the casting of spells. Many types appear throughout the Novel and its adaptations.

Evocation Array—›
The use of Evocation summons a spirit into the middle of an array. This array is quite dangerous and only advisable for use under adult supervision.

However, the evocation array won't work in case of the body's destruction, or if the soul is torn into pieces along with the body.

Maze Array—›
An array that disorients those who approach it. It's generally laid at a place which is needed to be kept hidden, but a high-level cultivator easily gets out of it, so it needs an additional layer of protection with it.

Night-Attack Array—›
While in night-hunts a cultivator sets up an array to guard against any night attacks from evil creatures. It's a kind of protection array, but not really.

Protective Array—›
An array to protect a residence from malevolent creatures. Might I add, that to use the Stygian Tiger Seal against the Yueyang Chang Clan, Xue Yang first destroyed their protective array. Allowing the spirits to enter and haunt the clan, ultimately killing the clan members.

Repelling Array—›
An array that repels evil, such as Fierce Corpses, malevolent spirits, ghosts, ghouls... etc.

Resurrection Array—›
These kinds of arrays are used to resurrect dead as a Fierce Corpse, but the chances are usually very slim, might I add you only need this array if you are not demonic cultivator, but hey why would you need it, y'all are righteous aren't ya?

Another variant of resurrection array is a demonic array, it's wicked, it's used to forcefully resurrect a spirit into the summoner's body, that the most wicked and hardest array, the chances of its success are slim, but here I'm standing the living evidence of the only success.

Well it can also be used to bring back a person who is freshly dead, like very freshly, like just now or at least an hour ago. Any later than that, congratulations! The person is beyond bringing back.

Seal-Breaking Array—›
These arrays are used to break the seal of Suppression Arrays and any other array.

Sacrificial Array—›
Some sacrificial arrays are used to summon spirits to make them do something on your steed, sometimes it's prices are small, but sometimes they are big. A part of the Sacrificial Ritual involves a crooked array drawn in the caster's own blood, which is by the way, a demonic array.

This is the vilest of all for it needs to be drawn by the caster own life-blood and if the arrays successful and the caster has been successful in summoning the spirit, then in exchange of the spirit the caster's soul would be eliminated, they will cease to exist, never to be reborn again.

Warning Array—›
I remember setting up a Warning Array on the Burial Mounds while I ventured to Yiling. So in case the array is broken or blood is shed, a Talisman ignites to alert me to the trouble.

Oh and I have been thinking of creating some more arrays but that's for later someday, any questions you may have?" Wei Wuxian finished lecturing.

Lan Jingyi raised his hand.

"Yes, my dear Jingyi." Wei Wuxian said.

"Master Wei. You said that once the demonic array is successful the caster's soul will be eliminated, it will cease to exist, never to be reborn again. D..does that mean Mo XuanYu's soul is eliminated?" Jingyi asked, frowning.

Wei Wuxian sighed, "Yes, Jingyi...that's the end Mo XuanYu's soul met."

"O...oh." Lan Jingyi sounded dejected.

Wei Wuxian sighed,"He deserved a chance to relive the world where there is hope, love, happiness and warmth...but not everyone gets everything, but maybe he was so desperate that only this way felt the last road from him to escape the pain."

"Yes master Wei." The Lan juniors who went to the assignment of Mo village said, spirits low.

"Anyways let bygones be bygones, hm. I hope you all understood what I taught you today. I will ask Zewu-jun for permission to go on a night-hunt with you all, so that you can get some practical lessons, rather then just theories or your family trees and ancestoral history. So, the class is dismissed. Have a good day." Wei Wuxian said, exiting Lanshi.

"Good day, Master Wei." The disciples stood up.

Lan Qiren was passing by Lanshi when he heard a playful voice saying some sort of riddle.

On listening carefully, he recognised the voice that belonged to Wei Wuxian, the walking menace, who his beloved nephew fell in love with. Just like his father.

'Sigh, this menace really tainted my precious nephew. Hmph! But who am I lying to? Wangji is just like his father, going to any extent to protect his beloved. He had it harder than Xiongzhang, but luckier than Xiongzhang. At least Wei Wuxian truly loves him.' Lan Qiren mused, stroking his goatee, walking towards Lanshi.

He heard Wei Wuxian say "I will as Zewu-jun for permission to go on a night-hunt with you all, so that you can get some practical lessons, rather than just theories or your family trees and ancestral history. So, the class is dismissed. Have a good day."

Lan Qiren sighed 'This boy is just like his mother, but inherited his father's innovation and sharp witt.'

With this Lan Qiren walked away.

Later that day, as promised, Wei Wuxian first went to Jingshi then to Hanshi.

As soon as he was permitted to enter, he grinned at the Lan disciple standing at the door who blushed, lightly.

Entering Hanshi he was greeted by Lan Xichen's smiling voice,"Wangji, you should convince Wuxian to join this time, he must want to meet Sect Leader Jin too."

"I know Xiongzhang. Wei Ying would be excited." Lan Wangji sounded.

"Yes Wangji, Wuxian would be excited by the prospect of meeting Sect Leader Jin, why don't you bring him along?" Lan Xichen suggested.

"Xiongzhang, Wangji understands what you are suggesting, but it's been only a short amount of time for which Wei Ying's innocence has proven, but you know the Cultivation World, better than me. What do you think they will say?" Lan Wangji sounded uncertain.

"Hm. Wangji what you are saying is correct, many would be skeptical, some will be reluctant to believe, some will still blame him, some will outright point at him for manipulation; but we know it's not true, than what do we have to fear? Wuxian will be happy at the chance to go outside of the Cloud Recesses. Just talk to him, if he agrees we can announce your betrothal; of course that is only after he agrees. Besides, you are there to protect him." Lan Xichen reasoned.

"Mn." Lan Wangji answered.

"Xiongzhang, Wei Ying is born free, like a bird, meant to soar in the vast expanse of the sky, not stay within the walls. To me Wei Ying's happiness matters more than anything else. As long as Wei Ying is happy, Wangji is happy for him. I will never let him be confined within the walls of Cloud Recesses. I will ask him if he wants to join or not." Lan Wangji mused aloud.

"Good." Lan Xichen said, then sipped his herbal tea.

Wei Wuxian deciding he has had enough of this mysterious discussion involving him when he himself is unaware of the topic itself is outrageous, he deserves to know, okay?

He came into Hanshi with quiet footsteps and greeted Zewu-jun, hugged Lan Wangji, pecking his cheek and sat down.

"So what were you talking about, Lan Zhan, Xichenge, tell me." Wei Wuxian said.

On second thought, it would have been better if he didn't know.

How dare you, Lan Wangji?!

You got courage to ask him to join this year's Discussion Conference, when he clearly knows that he wouldn't agree.

In his defence, firstly, the Cultivation World hates his guts. Secondly, if it were just him he wouldn't mind, but now his name is always associated with Second Jade, himself he doesn't want to sully his name.

Thirdly, Xichen-ge I thought you were wise, but it's you who suggested such a ridiculous thing! How can you?!

But Lan Wangji's ridiculously cute puppy eyes, which only he and Lan Xichen can see were irresistible.

Wei Wuxian gave a long suffering sigh "Okay I'll join you for this year's Discussion Conference held at Lanling. At least I can see Jin Ling!"

So that's how Wei Wuxian agreed to attend the Discussion Conference.

Poor, poor him, couldn't resist, his beloved's puppy eyes.

Those puppy eyes should be illegal!!!

Guys it's done!! Finally, finally this chapter is out!!

I was getting so anxious to post this but this chapter just didn't want to be written. It was so difficult to write it, I didn't know where to start it or where to end it, I was so confused!

But finally, I finished it and here I have posted it. Enjoy the fruit of my painstaking efforts!
