To say that Cid did the best he could with what he had was an understatement, the vehicle he seemed so proud of, and attached to, had come apart at the seams in some places; mainly the wings, those had suffered considerable damage, much like engines, which had blown out and were still smoking. Thick, heavy black smoke trailed upwards into the otherwise clear blue sky, it was a tainting mark against the bright blue and fluffy white clouds. The impact of the Broncho going down had caused small waves and ripples to still be disbanding and lapping against the sides of the now floating plane, turned water-plane.

He seemed quite proud of his landing, considering the background noise which was assaulting his ears. Everyone was being so dramatic, he had this under control, he couldn't understand why everyone was acting like they were. He was being stared at like he was going to wind them all having an untimely demise. Despite of sounding absolutely casual over the fact they had landed, and that any crash they could walk away, or in this case swim away from was a win, still didn't stop the glares, and even Yuffie shouting his way.

The ninja girl had fallen out of her seat, having come to land against the metallic floor. It wasn't like she felt any safer laying down there, it was more the impact of the crash had made her vault forwards and she'd gone tumbling. "You almost killed us!" She waved a hand his way, her legs still flailing about as she tried to right herself, but her head was spinning, and she definitely felt like she was going to be sick.

Cid just looked a bit awkward then, she was right, he supposed. Moving around the pilot chair, he ran a hand through the back of his hair, "Better go out and assess the damage." Even as he said this he saw most stand up, they all wanted off and out. He didn't blame them, he supposed, but they could all be sitting around for a while...unless they helped with any fixing.

Barrett picked himself up from the floor, grumbling quietly under his breath before swatting his hand gently at Nelly, she had been let out of the safety of being barricaded in the corner and looked his way questionably. "Think that might lowkey be our cue." He said quietly with a heavy sigh. "Hey, Cid, wait up!" Barrett called out, nudging Nelly along the aisle too. With his experience of mining and the machinery he had encountered back then, he could apply the same skills to just something else. Nelly, Barrett had been proudly told by her a while ago, that her father was the best mechanic in the undercity of Midgar, so she had learned from him how to take things apart and put them back together without a hassle.

Cid had opened the door and looked at the pair questionably, although he wasn't totally complaining, he was musing that help would be welcomed, three pairs of hands were better than one. "What's with that face?" Cid lifted up a hand, his other was still against the door, he paused opening it when he caught the almost gleeful look in Nelly's golden-yellow eyes.

Barrett grinned, laughing lowly and clapping a hand on the young woman's shoulder, Barrett just nodded Cid's way, "She's just happy to help." Barrett thought to say, knowing full well the female liked taking things apart and putting them together again. He remembered the first time a sweeper got taken down, it took Barrett having to almost pick her up to drag her away. She just wanted to know how it worked, she liked to know what made things tick...in the sweeper's case it was just the intent to destroy them, at that particular time.

Cid looked sceptical at best, and Barrett just grinned, the taller man was well aware it was an uncomfortable awkward gesture, but Cid just seemed to nod and open the door. He turned and took to rummaging in a compartment near his pilot seat, he produced a toolbox and gestured a hand to the outside.

Barrett looked down when Nelly looked up, "Could ya at least try to contain the excitement? Especially after we all nearly drowned." Barrett just had mental images of Nelly taking everything apart and there wouldn't be any Broncho left, Cid would be knelt in the remnants weeping...shaking his head, Barrett did remind himself they were currently all bobbing about in beautiful azure waters, if Nelly took everything apart those parts would sink and they'd have to swim for it...

Yuffie put a hand on Nelly's shoulders and looked groggily to the outside, she pulled a face not knowing how she'd enjoy just swaying with the gentle breeze of the day with water all around them, although they were also nestled amongst mountain cliffs and rocky outcrops the colour of burnt orange and terracotta. "I wish you both all the luck in fixing this." She shook her head and expertly clambered outside.

Scrunching up her nose, Nelly looked at Barrett. "Is it that bad?"

"Let's go find out, yeah?" Barrett nodded onwards, Nelly sighed and patted her sides and followed him out. The sun was blinding, the darkness of the plane had made the outside such a stark contrast it took all of them a moment to adjust. Yuffie was already laying down with her eyes shut, she seemed to be enjoying the sun and being out of the plane, soon most who were inside joined her. There were enough places to sit and dwell on everything as the work was being done.

Nelly put her hands on her head, her eyes staring at the wing, the splitting crack down the side had her wincing. That definitely wasn't being put back on, they had no way to winch it in place, to steady it and to then attach it back. "Never mind about that," she turned and looked at Cid, she didn't know he'd approached, seeing as how she was just staring at the damage.

"This plane can function without wings?" Nelly asked curiously, if they were foregoing the wings then that's half the issue solved already, it'd just mean making sure the main engine was functioning.

Cid laughed and turned away not answering her question, looking up at Barrett when he stepped beside her, he nodded onwards. The pair made their way to the back, Cid was already tentatively leaning over to look at the propellor, that was intact, but still needed to look into the engine. Hearing their footsteps, he turned and eyed them up before reaching forwards. Nelly looked confused when he pulled her forwards and pointed downwards.

"I can't touch the engine yet! Are you insane? I'll burn my fingers." Nelly looked at the pilot like he was mad, she understood they needed in to see if anything had broken, but not yet.

Cid waved a hand, "Listen, there's some really small parts that I can't get to, but you can."

"Until the engine cools, let's find something we can fix with ease, huh?" Nelly placed her hands on her hips and looked at Cid plainly, she understood the need to get back on their travels, but she was most definitely not burning her fingerprints off for that.

Cid was about to reply, but a metallic and cracking caught their attention. He made an unhappy noise watching as the wing gave into pressure and gravity and got pulled downwards. Nelly looked sympathetic, even patting the man on the arm gently before walking and looking over the torn metal. Leaning against her knees, she tilted her head and followed the crack. It was an easy fix, they could clean this up, even use some of the metal to reinforce anything that might be a little loose.

Nelly wasn't sure how the inside faired from the crash, if there were any cracks or splits from the pressure inflicted on the metal. Surely Cid had some welding equipment, it'd be a quick fix until they could take a look over the damages properly. Him and Barrett seemed to be discussing something, with Cait standing there curiously.

"Hey now, what are you gonna do with them?" Cid watched her raid the toolbox, there was a torch in there, both a welding and cutting one which she grasped onto with a smile.

"You do realise there's probably going to be stress cracks everywhere, right? Those cracks can grow, considering we're clearly going by water now, the effects of water are more damaging than the effects of air. Plus, I don't think anyone wants wet feet." Nelly turned the torch in her hands and smiled up at Cid.

"Fine, fine, go do what you need to." Cid wasn't going to argue there, she had a point, they didn't need more bits breaking apart while they travelled. Nelly beamed at him and turned and ran off, his eyes flicked up at Barrett, "She's too up for this, should I be worried?"

"Nah, man. She's got this." Barrett said while looking downwards, "Hey, cat, keep an eye on her, yeah? Just in case, ya know? Don't need Nelly getting carried away." Barrett leaned down and leaned against a knee to say this to Cait, Cid was too busy leaning over the plane to assess something so hopefully he didn't hear him.

Cait jumped to attention, putting his white gloved hand against his forehead, his ears pricked up as he clacked his boot heels together. "Aye, aye! Leave it to me!" He turned and scarpered off leaving Barrett to let out a relieved sigh.

Meanwhile Nelly was kneeling down and looking at the remnant of the wing. This could take some time, she was going to start only to notice Cait join her side. Nelly frowned, "Are you on watch?"

"Ah, well, it isn't like that. At least, not quite." Cait said with an awkward twitch of his ears.

Nelly shook her head; she pushed her hair out of her face and just commenced her work. She wasn't going to take the whole thing apart. But any metal that was salvaged they could repurpose, if needs be. It took time to cut through the remainder of the wings, let alone clear up the place where they were. By that point she had returned to Cid and Barrett and soon found herself swapping tools and being hung over the plane to get to the small parts of the engine Cid said he couldn't reach.

That was the least favoured part of this whole thing as Nelly soon had soot, grease, fuel and who only knew what smearing her hands. "There's a cleaning cloth inside," Cid explained and got an incredulous look from Nelly, he held his hands up and got a glare.

"Cait, bring the torches." She turned on her heels with a quiet huff, the cat did as he was asked and trotted after her. She'd had enough of outside work and wanted to see if there were issues inside. Plus, she wanted to find that cloth Cid spoke of, but also the sun was overbearing, she could feel it getting to her head. It was a relentless heat here, it made her head hurt, but then that also could've been everything that had happened slowly catching up.

Nothing about their journey had been straight forward, even when it seemed like it was, something happened. Nor had they all really had a proper stop and break, the first time to Costa del Sol could've counted, if there weren't little missions that were posted on the notice board, plus unwanted company in the form of Hojo. The same could be said for the Gold Saucer, but the first visit there ended just as abruptly as Barrett being accused of gunning a load of people down. And none of them even managed to get a ride on the Skywheel!

Quiet grumbling against all these little stupid injustices, Nelly found herself back inside the shade of plane. Cait hummed about his business and plopped the tools on the first chair he came to, before his ears and head tilted to the side. Nelly was too busy looking at the pilot seat, was this cloth in the same compartment the toolbox came from? She didn't know, but anything she touched would get covered in the muck that was on her hands. She thought she'd avoid touching as much as she could, or else Cid would probably moan at her.

"Hey, Cait? Can you open this for me?" Nelly nudged the compartment with the toe of her boot. Not getting an answer, she turned and let out a startled noise. "Get back here!" She exclaimed quietly with wide eyes and a frown. Most had gone up top, that wasn't including Vincent who seemed more than content to stay inside. Much like before the crash, he sat, legs stretched out and crossed at the ankles with his arms crossed underneath his cape and his eyes shut.

Cait turned to reply only to turn back to Vincent, the noise which came from Cait would've made Nelly laugh if for the fact that she too didn't physically jump from Vincent's eyes opening and the sudden silent way he stood. Even if half of his face was concealed by the collar of his cloak, the fact his red eyes were trained downwards and had a hard glint to them was evident enough, this man was not pleased with the sudden intrusion on his peace.

The slight gloom of the inside just made his eyes glow just a little bit, and Nelly hadn't seen Cait scamper off so quickly with an apology and end up gripping onto her leg. "Sorry, did we wake you? By we, I mainly mean Cait." Nelly shot Cait a look, he jumped back from her, and she would say he was trying to look offended; it was hard to tell seems his eyes were always shut. "You're the one that went walking down there, not me." Nelly pointed a grimy finger his way. "Sorry if we did though, Vincent." Nelly said while smiling his way and waving her hands in the air, as if that would help with her apology. All it got her was a confused frown and a head tilted, "Oh! The engine. Cid cracked some shit about my smaller hands being able to get in places he couldn't. I call it complete rubbish, mainly because once I left, he didn't seem to struggle so make of it what you will! Could you do me a favour seems Cait is..." Nelly explained and looked back at the offended cat, "Could you open this for me? Apparently, there's cleaning cloths or something? I have zero clue where; Cid didn't seem helpful in telling me. So, I'm going to ransack." Nelly explained with a shrug and a mischievous grin, she was joking of course. She wouldn't do anything unnecessary.

There was the minutest of nods from Vincent as he took another step forwards. The metallic clinking signalling he was getting closer to her as she nudged the compartment with her boot again and scooted aside. It was a little cramped throughout the Broncho, but the pilot area was particularly small. She'd already invaded his space by crashing into him, she didn't want to overstep anymore. Instead, she stood near the door, keeping her hands away from herself and anything else.

It was somewhat interesting to watch, in an odd way, that someone so lithe and tall, could move so silently if it wasn't for the metal armour he wore at his hip, or his shoes, she would definitely not hear him. She was rather adamant about that, just because of how he moved, his steps were just fluid and even when he leaned down to grasp onto the compartment handle, he barely made any noise. It was strange to be near someone who generated such little sound, other than Cloud who could be especially silent both vocally and physically. It was just something ethereal, that's all Nelly could say, it was just this weird feeling, or that was just still her feeling awkward for crashing into him.

"Vincent?" Nelly watched as he tensed just ever so slightly when she said his name. She found herself frowning a little and looking down at Cait, he'd got over his little huff and tilted his head too, the moment not going amiss. It was like Vincent half expected something bad to come from her, the aura surrounding him had been casual enough, or as casual as Nelly believed Vincent could be, but now it was spiky, uncertain. Even with his collar obscuring most of his features from where he was leaning, and his hair and bandana, she could still spy his eyes warily flick sidelong at her. Nelly put her stained hands together and grinned, opting to shirk off the awkward atmosphere with something more positive, if an apology could be classed as such, Nelly wasn't sure, but she hoped he could tell she was being sincere. "I'm sorry for earlier."

"We were crashing." Was his rather blatant reply, his hand returning to the search of finding the item that alluded them both.

Nelly looked up at the ceiling before sighing gently. "Yeah, I know. But even still, I didn't mean to fall into you. But also, thank you for the save!"

Vincent's hand came into contact with what he presumed was the item they were here for; the white cloth wasn't so white against the black of his glove. He even found himself frowning as he straightened up. The material hung loosely from his grasp as even Nelly leaned forwards to glare at it.

"Oh, for pity's sake! Trust Cid's cleaning cloth to be complete garbage!" Nelly would've scrubbed a hand angrily down her face if she could. The cloth was blotchy in different dirty marks, for the life of her she didn't know what they were, nor did she want to know. Ignorance was bliss.

Vincent still held it out to her, not knowing really what else to do with it seems she was still staring intently at it. With a sharp sigh, she took it from his hand and knelt at the door, she could just about lean down and reach the water. Even more so if she almost scooted to lay on her stomach, Cait just held onto her tunic, as if that'd help if she did fall. Vincent just shook his head, she seemed well balanced, there was no need for the robotic cat to hold on.

Rubbing her hands together in the water repeatedly and scrubbing with the attempt of a cloth, Nelly managed to get her hands reasonably back to normal. Shooting to a stand, she winced, giving herself a head rush wasn't ideal, even more so when there was double of things. Though blinking rapidly, she moved past Vincent and shoved the cloth back into its place.

With a sure nod and a clap of her hands she glanced around the cabin. "Don't suppose you've noticed any cracks or splits?" She looked up at the tall man still beside her, Vincent looked at least thoughtful before giving a nod and pointing a golden finger to the back. Nelly groaned, of course the back got it worse, typical. Taking the torches from the seat, she moved onwards and looked about.

Cait watched her go before swinging his little arms by his sides and following after her. His ears twitched though, and he looked over his shoulder when he heard he was being followed. Vincent was taller than Nelly, her only just really reaching his shoulders, so to Cait he practically towered over him. The unnerving feeling of being followed had Cait fisting his little hands and climbing up onto the bench, he took to glancing about only to watch as Vincent's arm lifted up and pointed to the ceiling.

Nelly pulled a face; it could be at least welded up. But the engine blowing clearly sent a hard reverberating shudder throughout the whole vehicle. She was surprised not more bad cracks like this were present. "Right!" Nelly popped up onto the opposite bench to the one Cait was on and assessed the damage with squinted eyes. "Be right back!" With determination she darted off, scooted past Vincent and ran outside. She didn't mean to leave both males there in awkward silence and looking around confusedly, and even at each other in much the same way.

She had a small piece of metal which could close this crack. She reappeared moments later with it and jumped up onto the bench. From up high, she held the metal against the ceiling and looked incredibly awkward up there, "Be careful not to fall, lass." Cait sat swinging his legs over the edge of the bench and was worried for his friend.

"You'll just have to catch me, Cait." Nelly joked, her eyes avoiding looking at the sparks which came from the torch as she cracked on with her work.

Her juggling act was painful to watch for so many reasons, predominantly she just looked awkward up there, Nelly let out a surprised noise when in her work she ended up nudging her hand against another. "Ah, it must be nice being so tall." She laughed gently, of course Vincent seemingly had no issue reaching up to the ceiling. She did glance his way, hoping he didn't take a small joke at his expense badly, she didn't want to offend him; instead what greeted her from being up high was the fact she could see his whole face without his collar obscuring him and she could've sworn, hands down, that his lip twitched ever so slightly at the side. She in return just grinned, she was happy knowing he didn't mind the little quip, but also, she was thankful of the help.

She worked away in silence, Cait hummed now and again happy to just be around and involved, and Vincent just stayed motionless and helping however he could. Though he had Nelly looking down at him oddly when he spoke quietly, his lips pressed into a thin line as she stood there looking at him. All he had simply said was; "I am sorry for touching you earlier." He had said it so quietly Nelly thought she had misheard.

"We were crashing, remember?" She twirled the torch in her hand and jumped down, Vincent just gave a measured nod, they had both said their piece, and both accepted the actions were necessary for the moment at hand. Putting the torch on the bench she patted her sides and looked up. "Thanks for the help." Nelly tilted her head and just continued to smile upwards at him, Vincent did give a small nod and looked like he was about to reply, only to get beaten to it by another voice from outside. Both of them and Cait looked up the aisle and towards the door where bright sunlight still shone in from.

"How's it going in there?" Barrett's voice called from outside, the man hadn't peered in or ventured back down but by how his voice carried it was clear he was leaning looking down at the door.

Nelly smiled and looked up at their handy work, hands on her hips and with a sure nod, she looked sidelong up the aisle. "We're all good in here, all thanks to Vincent's help."

"That's good...wait, what?" Barrett sounded so casual until clearly having a double take at the latter part of her words. He sounded truly shocked but also confused by that prospect. All he got in return was Nelly's sudden laughter.
