46 | be gone, demon
"Kurutta-san..." Josie trailed off, as she tried to translate his words. "Dropped on his head as a baby. Samurai school to learn discipline. He learned to slay Oni demons, which is what we're chasing. He was a hero!" She began to explain. Ruby, Monica, Landon, Hope, Jordan and Alaric looked at Josie and Kurutta, as they conversed.
"All the women begged to Kurutta-san, I don't even know that word, but it cannot be relevant..." Josie stopped, wearing a frown as she was grossed out. "Josie, the point. Let's get to it." Alaric reminded her. "Kurutta spent months tracking down an Oni that possessed people, moving from person to person by touch. He was just about to kill it when it found its way into the body of a child and escaped him yet again. He gave chase and caught the demon. But he could not bring himself to harm an innocent child. So, instead, he made an impossible choice and he took the Oni into himself." Everyone stayed quiet, surprised by this.
"But it was then that he realized, unlike everyone else who had been possessed and remembered nothing, he was still partly in control of his faculties. He thinks the Oni found it harder to possess his broken mind. His words, not mine. He tried to stab himself with his sword, and the Oni wouldn't let him. So he decided to never touch a person again So that it could never possess anyone else. And then Malivore, eternity of nothingness deep psychological torment. He came through an ana. I think he's talking about a portal." Josie realised.
"Portal? Uh, where?" Hope asked. Josie just deadpanned Hope, "Uh, sorry, the ancient samurai isn't an expert on Mystic Falls geography."
"How do we kill the the demon?" Monica then asked, as she crossed her arms. "Uh, with his sword. It's spelled with a special kind of magic, so if we can just find the Oni Not a problem—"
Suddenly, the car let out a loud bang. "Not a problem.." Hope said, as Rafael was conscious. He burst open the door as the samurai now whipped out his sword, and aimee the blade at the Waithe.
"Wait, no, no, no, no!" Ruby blurted out, as she quickly rushed to defend her twin from Kurutta. Jordan held up his hand, "Motus." The sword flew out of his hand, and landed in Jordan's.

Now standing in Alaric's office, Ruby and Hope looked at Landon, who had just told them he wanted to sacrifice himself to the Oni. "No." Josie decided as she shook her head. "I'm gonna go and find the others. We're gonna all come up with a much better solution— Ruby stay with him." The Saltzman ordered, before she raced out of the office to find her Dad and the other students.
Ruby looked to her foster brother, "Lan, we'll come up with a better idea.." She decided, as she spoke softly. "We'll figure this out—"
As the werewolf turned to face the Kirby, he hit her over the head with a heavy book, knocking her unconscious. With the few moments he would have, he raced away.
Minutes later, Josie led the group back to the office. "Ruby?" Monica blurted out, as Hope rushed over to the werewolf's side, and cradled her in her arms. "Ruby!!" She said, shaking her gently. Ruby's eyes fluttered open, as she saw Hope holding her in her arms.
"Get away from her!" Josie hissed as she practically shoved Hope aside, not liking how close she was to her best friend. "Ruby.. what happened?" Jordan asked as unlike the Mikealson and Saltzman, he gave her space.
Remembering what had happened, Ruby shot up. "Landon.. He's gone— and possessed!" She stated. "Really?" Monica asked, sarcastically. "But that's impossible!" Josie stated.
Alaric shook his head, "Kurutta must have been possessed after Rafael attacked him." He said. "The oni waited to be alone with Landon... took control of him and then—" Hope trailed off as Alaric turned the chair, to reveal a dead Kurutta. "Sayonara samurai."
Ruby frowned, as she was uneasy by the sight. "Okay well... where would he have gone?" Josie asked. "I mean... my guess is the portal." The tribrid declared. "Well. We don't even know where that is." Jordan reminded them.
Ruby bit her lip before she said, "Could you guys do a locator spell? I can find something of Landon's." She suggested. Josie nodded, "Yeah.. we could do that." She replied, before she looked to Jordan, as she hoped to do the spell with him.

"Landon!!" Ruby called out as herself, Josie, Hope, Jordan and Monica all raced towards the boy who laid sprawled out in the grass. "Lizzie?" Jordan asked confusedly, as he noticed the Saltzman was chained to a tree. "Wh... What the fuck is going on?" Monica asked, as her worried eyes landed on Lizzie.
"Lizzie, are you okay?" Josie asked, worried for her sister. "No. I am super crazy— the demon's in me!" She declared, as her eyes flashed red. "Oh my god—" Monica blurted out, seeming even more concerned.
"Lizzie-" Hope stepped towards her but the Saltzman growled at her in response. Hope took a step back in surprise. "S... Sorry... that is embarrassing. We haven't met yet, have we? I'm Lizzie. Is your... pretty blonde friend single?" Lizzie asked as Monica walked towards Lizzie, and gently pushed Hope aside.
"If the oni is in you, how are you talking?" Monica asked as she took Lizzie's hands gently in her own, grimacing slightly as she could feel the darkness flowing through them. "I don't know, but I... I can feel it in my head, trying to take over. I don't know how much longer I— Never mind. It's gone." She declared. Ruby stepped forward to unchain her, but Hope held out her arm to stop her.
"You can untie me. I didn't say that. It did, okay? Still in me, so don't Listen to me. I'm fine." Lizze rambled on as she spoke for the both of them. "We should probably get out of here before we Okay. You have got to stop me. Please. Otherwise, this thing is gonna win." Lizzie begged them. "She's fighting the demon somehow." Jordan realised. "Just like Kurutta."
"I already know I'm crazy, okay? You don't have to rub it in." Lizzie huffed at them. Monica shook her head, "You're not crazy." She insisted. "Kurutta was not crazy and neither are you." Ruby then added.
Lizzie looked around Monica, as her eyes landed on Josie. "Where's Dad? I just want Dad." She spoke, as her voice broke. "Kurutta fought the Oni for years, okay? If you can just give us a little bit of time, then we can—"
"No. I can't live like this anymore." Lizzie snapped, as tears filled her eyes. "Sebastian isn't real. This whole time, I thought I was better, but I have just been seeing things, and hearing things and feeling things that no one else does. And it's scary. Scarier than any demon in my head. Although that sucks, too." Monica's face fell, as she wanted to hug the Saltzman more than anything.
"Lizzie. Lizzie, it's okay, okay?" Ruby spoke softly, as she stood beside Monica now. "We're gonna fix you." Josie added.
"No. There's no fixing me, Ru, Jo. I am just shattered. The pieces are too small to put back together." She decided, before she looked to Josie. "Tell Dad that I love him. But you have to end this."
"What?" Jordan asked as he wasn't following. "With that sword!" Lizzie added. Hope shook her head, "Whoa I know that we just met, but there's no way that we are gonna let that happen."
Lizzie growled now, "You have no choice. This will not stop until you give me the boy." Her voice sounded inhuman. Ruby flinched in surprise, and practically jumped back into Monica's arms. "Lizzie?" Jordan asked, his eyes widening at how terrifying her voice sounded. "Lizzie.. you've got to fight this. You are so much stronger than you think." Monica spoke, believing in her former girlfriend.
"Lizzie, you got to fight this thing." Hope encouraged. Lizzie shook her head, "Fighting is useless. Malivore still lives, and his control over us is stronger than ever. Soon, the likes of me will be the least of your concerns— Distracted during a monologue. Classic villain mistake." Lizzie chuckled as she said the last part.
The petrified blonde looked over at her twin, "Jo, you got to do this. For me. Okay? It's only a matter of time before you kick my ass in the Merge, anyway. And this is better than the Merge, because this way you won't have to live with some messed-up part of me in your brain forever, driving you as crazy I am..." She rambled on as Josie looked at Lizzie with tear filled eyes, "We weren't gonna talk about that until we had real solutions."
"Well, maybe this is it. Josie, it's coming back. Please. You got to do it. If Josie won't do this, then one of you have to!" She insisted, as her eyes darted between Ruby, Monica, Hope and Jordan.
Jordan sighed hesitantly, before he bent down to pick up the sword. "Jordy.." Ruby blurted out, as she noticed his arms trembled slightly. "There's so much black magic in this." He admitted, before he looked up to Ruby, who was looking at him with concern.
"Probably won't feel much better getting stabbed by it..." Lizzie stated, as she looked to the sword that Jordan held. "Please don't do this— let me." Josie suggested as she took a step towards her boyfriend. Jordan took a step back, his grip on the sword tightening. "There's... something I haven't told you or anyone, not even my Mum." He said. "What is it?" Josie asked worriedly.
"... I have practiced with dark magic.." He confessed, as Monica's eyes widened, "What!?" She asked. "I... I used dark magic to save my ex boyfriends life.. Tate." Jordan began to explain, trying to speak quickly. "Ever since then.. there has been this darkness inside of me— But I can control it.. which is why I need to do this."
Jordan knew that Josie had done dark magic with Vardemus. Since then she had shown changes in her personality, her decision making.. usual causes of practicing dark magic. But Jordan knew how to fight it. He had been for years.
Josie nodded, "Okay." She decided. "No.. you can't do this!" Monica insisted, as she tried to stomp towards the other Montgomery, but Hope and Ruby held her back, as they didn't see any other solution.
Jordan lifted the sword and he closed his eyes. Chanting filled his head, as he gripped the sword and absorbed its magic. Black magic filled his veins as Josie felt her heart sink, already feeling regret for letting her boyfriend do this. The voices in his head grew much louder, sounding as if there were people, everywhere, when it was just them.
"How... do I kill it.." He asked himself, as a voice responded inside his head, "Absorb it. Take the magic from the demon, draining it from its core. Destroy it."
And that is what the Montgomery did.
Jordan's eyes were completely black, as he chanted a spell that none of the witches had ever heard of. Lizzie struggled against the chains, feeling the oni exit her body reluctantly, as it evaporated. It's spirit slowly moved towards a small black pit, being the remainders of Malivore.
With the spell finally complete, Jordan eyes flicked back to normal, as he reached his hand up to his face to realise that his nose was bleeding. Hope and Ruby let go of Monica, as the blonde stepped forward to approach Jordan.
"Jordan?" She asked as the raven haired boy slowly turned to her, before he collapsed to the ground and fell unconscious. "Jordan!" Josie cried out before she rushed to his side.
