30 | i don't want to be your friend
Cynthia sat in the sunroom, drinking her earl grey tea. Her mind seemed occupied, as she was thinking about her coven. The Luna coven.
Jordan was expected to take the throne and become the new leader, since the current leader was on their deathbed, but Cynthia didn't want this for him. She knew Jordan didn't want it either.
To become leader of the Luna coven, meant you need to undergo this murderous tradition. The futuristic leader needed to absorb all of the power from twelve supernatural creatures, whether they're witches, wolves, vampires or other. And it didn't matter whether the magic was natural or dark. Once absorbing all of the magic essentially killing them all, the new leader would be crowned.
Jordan was only just managing to control his own magic, he wouldn't be able to handle more. Not to mention, he wasn't a murderer. He wouldn't be able to live with himself after killing twelve people.
Cynthia thought about Monica. The Montgomery had mentioned attending the Salvatore Boarding school, and the more the mother thought about it, the more she liked the idea of sending Jordan there.
"Good morning." Monica voice piped up, as Cynthia turned around to face the vampire. "Just the person I wanted to see." The Monroe smiled warmly. "Oh, really?" Monica asked with surprise as Cynthia nodded, "Tell me about the Salvatore school."

Inside the kitchen Ruby poured herself a mug of coffee, before turning to Penelope to ask her if she would like one. Suddenly Jordan entered the kitchen, after just getting back from going for a run.
"Hm... do you always murder people and then help yourself to their family's kitchen?" Jordan asked, before using telekinesis to slide the mug of coffee Ruby had made herself, into his own hand. "I stayed up most of the night talking to my new sister. I need this." He declared as he took a sip. Ruby didn't say anything and just looked at the boy guiltily.
"And are you always such a cold hearted asshole?" Penelope replied before she clicked her fingers, as the temperature of the coffee instantly went from hot to cold. The other witch frowned no longer wanting the coffee. "Someone as cold as you deserves a cold coffee, right?" The Park asked, clearly bothering the boy. "Go to hell." Jordan seethed before he placed the mug on the table and stormed out of the kitchen.
Ruby's eyes darted to Penelope, "He's right, Pen. This is wrong. I killed his father and now I'm just helping myself to his house... how he feels is warranted." She sighed.
"Hey guys, we're gonna head back soon." Monica insisted, entering the kitchen. "Sweet, how are we getting home?" Penelope then asked. "Uh my car? How do you think I got here?" Monica laughed as though it was obvious. The werewolf and witch shrugged in response, as they hadn't been sure.
"Cynthia is thinking of sending Jordan to our school." Monica then spoke quietly. "Wait, really?" Penelope asked. The Montgomery nodded, "Yeah.. she's gonna talk to him about it. Anyway, let's go."

Ruby and Penelope were taken by surprise when they realised the pink beetle with the soft top roof parked across the street, belonged to Monica. "It's so adorable!" Ruby admitted, looking excited to be a passenger in the cute car. "Who drives beetles anymore?" Penelope teased her best friend. "Hey! Some respect would be nice!" Monica huffed at the Park before she turned on her heels to approach Cynthia and Jordan.
Ruby and Penelope got into the car, while Monica said her goodbye. The Waithe sat in the passenger seat while the Park in the back seat. They looked out of the window, watching as Monica hugged Cynthia and Jordan. "She seems happy." Penelope admitted, "She's found her family."
Moments later Monica got into the car and began to drive away. As they drove, Ruby smiled at Monica as she thought back to what she had said the day prior.
"Please Jordan, Ruby is my family!"
Monica caught the Waithe looking at her and gave her a confused glance, before looking back to the road. "What are you smiling at?" She demanded. "Did you mean what you said earlier.. about me... being your family?" Ruby asked.
Monica snorted in amusement, "I was just trying to save your ass." She decided, not wanting to be honest. Ruby just rolled her eyes playfully, "Good... I thought you might have been starting to care." The werewolf said with a grin. Monica smirked back at the girl, "Never."
Sitting in the backseat Penelope piped up with, "Ugh— Get a room!" Which caused the werewolf and the vampire to laugh.

The trio arrived back at the school, and were greeted by a very angry Dr Saltzman. "Ugh Ric, Don't get angry at Ruby and Penelope. They only came after me because I left without a word." Monica ordered as Alaric frowned at the vampire, "They also left without letting anybody know!"
Penelope shrugged in response, "You were in Maple Hollows, apparently chasing a Mummy."
"And an Urn!" Alaric added.
"Anywhore, I'm going to go and make a coffee. Thanks for the cute lecture, Ric." Monica declared, before she span on her heels and strutted away, leaving Ruby and Penelope to try and hold back their own laughs, as they left the office.

Sometime passed, and Lizzie had finally noticed the return of her crush. "Monica!" She Saltzman chimed, as she paced over to the Montgomery. "Hey Lizzie." Monica replied with a smirk. Lizzie leant in to kiss Monica's cheek, but the vampire pulled away. "We uh.. need to talk." She quickly said. "Okay, what's going on?" The Saltzman asked, suddenly worried.
"I think I'm giving you the wrong idea Lizzie. I am seeing this whole thing between us as friends with benefits and... I think I could be leading you on." Monica came clean as Lizzie nodded, "You don't see this going anywhere else?" She asked. Monica sighed before she shook her head. "I don't think I'm ready to be with anybody. Commitment isn't really my thing."
"But you're Monica Montgomery, since when do you care about how others feelings? We can keep this going." Lizzie suggested, not seeming to care about getting hurt in the process. "No we can't Liz, I can see that it's hurting you." Monica responded.
"And... I guess somebody has maybe taught me that it's okay to care about other people and their feelings." She admitted, referring to Ruby. The Waithe had really made her want to change some of her ways. "Okay... so that's it, this is over?" Lizzie asked as Monica nodded sadly. "I'm sorry, Lizzie."
The Saltzman nodded before she turned around to leave. She closed the door behind her as Monica watched the doorway the blonde had walked out of. A tear rolled down her cheek, as she felt guilty for hurting Lizzie.

"Rafi." Ruby blurted out, before she embraced her twin. "Ru! I'm so glad you're okay!" Rafael replied as he hugged his sister back. "I did something bad Rafi... I triggered my curse— I killed somebody." The girl admitted.
Rafael's eyes widened in surprise as Ruby pulled away from him. His expression showed empathy for his twin, knowing what she was about to go through. "You're gonna be okay." The male Waithe exhaled, "It's going to be hard but I promise I'll be here for you."
After spending some time with her twin and eventually calming down, Ruby approached her dorm, feeling butterflies in her stomach. She had been avoiding Hope as much as she could since returning, hoping that by distancing herself she would hopefully let go of these feelings she had for the Mikealson, but she'd come to terms with the fact that they weren't going anywhere.
Ruby Waithe couldn't just be friends with Hope Mikealson, that was for sure. She liked her way too much for that. The girl was in too deep.
The werewolf entered her dorm, closing the door behind her. She turned to see Hope who had just stood up from her bed. "Ruby." Hope greeted, about to ask her roommate where she had been though she could tell Ruby had something to say.
Ruby paused for a moment as she contemplated her next move, and was wondering what to say or do... but in the end she decided not to over think it.
The pinkette approached Hope reaching out to cup her cheeks with her hands before she leant close to kiss Hope. Hope was taken by surprise, but then closed her eyes, and began to kiss Ruby back.
Once they broke apart Ruby noticed her arms had found their way around Hope's shoulders, while Hope's arms were sitting around Ruby's waist. The werewolf bit her lip, before deciding to just come out with the truth.
"I really like you Hope, like.. really like you. I have tried to ignore my feelings for the sake of Landon but I can't do this anymore." Ruby admitted, "I... I know I'm supposed to let you figure out your feelings.. this was probably a stupid id—"
Hope smiled back lovingly at the Waithe. "Actually, I made my choice— I... I really like you too, Ruby. Do you want to be my... girlfriend?" Ruby grinned in response, "I thought you'd never ask."
