I wrote this story in a bit of a whirlwind back in 2005. I have since revised it a bit, mainly to help make it canon-compliant after the sixth and seventh books came out. I still really like this story, but be warned that its chapters are each quite a bit longer than what I write these days. They average probably 3000-4000 words, where nowadays I write 1500-2000 word chapters. I think they're a pretty easy read, but the length can seem daunting.

Because it's complete, I can comfortably update every Monday-Wednesday-Friday until it's all posted. My other works update once a week. If you like this, I urge you to take a look at my other writing. After more than 10 years, I'll hope you find my writing has improved!

Summary:

Remus has always battled with the monster inside him that comes out at the full moon. Ever since they discovered his secret, his friends have helped with his struggle, but they don't seem to fully understand it. He has nightmares of hurting them, of tearing them apart, but they treat the whole thing like a monthly excuse to galavant around Hogsmeade or the school grounds. 

And then, on a lark, Sirius reveals to a suspicious Severus Snape the means to follow Remus under the Whomping Willow. He didn't mean any real harm. He has never seen Remus for the dangerous creature he becomes every month. Still, the betrayal of it hurts Remus to his core. 

Sometimes it takes nearly destroying a friendship to realize that it could be something more. 

This is a Marauders' Era Harry Potter fanfiction that tells the story of the birth of a romance between Remus and Sirius.
