Your eyes turned purple as you called for your power. The power you had gained the day Eclipse chosen you as his rider.
You never liked using your power, it hurt. You weren't Dakarian, you were human, and humans weren't built to handle a dragon's power.
Dakarians on the other hand were build for such strain. They were the people who lived on Dakarus, the home of the dragons, and the planet of the dragons riders. You had been there multiple times, heck you were an honorary citizen there, but that didn't change what you were.
The power started in your gut as a warm gentle glow, but soon began to burn you from the inside. Your body wasn't made to handle such power, if you used too much of it, or if you held it for to long, you could die.
You summoned a purple plasma ball of fire, the fire of your dragon, and threw it at the intruders.
They scrambled out of the way, not wanting to get hit by your oncoming attack.
Your ball of fire hit the ground as it exploded, burning and sending the attacking solders flying.
You then reached for your dragon, calling him with your unbreakable connection. "Eclipse!" You called out loud, as you felt for him, for his power.
You heard his roar in your mind as he verified that he heard you and that he was coming.
"Stay out of harms way." You told Loki firmly, picking up a big sharp pice of broken glass from the cups that got smashed against the ground when you knocked over the coffee table.
You didn't have any weapons on you at the moment so a shard of broken glass was the best you could get right now.
You didn't wait for Loki to answer before jumping over the table to attack the agents while they were down and confused. You sliced at one with your shard of glass, cutting his arm fairly deep in the proses. Two came up and grabbed your upper arms to try and take you down, but yelled out in pain the moment they touched you. Your skin so hot that it burnt straight through the think gloves they had on leaving the palms of their hands full of blisters.
You turned, punching both in the face back to back. Your fist melting the thick goggles they had, they screamed in pain again as they crumbled to the ground clutching onto their faces.
Another man had come to take you down, but before he could hit you Loki had thrown a small dagger at him, impelling him in the throat, killing him instantly.
You looked from the man at your feet with a dagger in his throat before looking over to Loki who had decided to join the fight against your wishes.
He had on his Asgardian style armor, though it was different from his battle of New York armor you had always imagined him in. This armor was much more simplistic, mostly black leather with a forest green cape and his signature horned helmet. Though his helmet was also different. It wasn't quite a helmet, with it only covering the front of his head. You wondered briefly how it stayed it place.
The man with the gun pointed at you quickly kicked you out of your thoughts and back to the battle.
You and Loki were severely out numbered, even though you and him had already taken down four of the fifteen men here. You couldn't keep your power up for much longer, and you didn't know how much damage Loki could do with his powers bounded by Tony's device around his wrist.Eclipse also wasn't an option. He was too far away to reach you in time to help. That only left one option. One stupid ass option.
You threw a fire ball at the man with a gun, before quickly motioning to Loki to go back behind the table with you. You didn't want to touch him, knowing it would hurt him, your skin too hot for anyone to safely touch.
Loki quickly obeyed as he met you behind the table while the agents tried to put out your fire that was blocking them from getting closer to you.
"I can't take them all with my limited power." Loki told you trying to think over a new plan. "I only had enough magic to summon that one dagger, I maybe stronger and faster than them but even I have limits to hand to hand combat. Especially as I have only been out of prison for a week with little to no practice on hand to hand combat while I have been here."
"I know." You panted, your face covered in sweat. You were overheating trying to keep your fire going. "Give me your wrist." You told Loki as you panted, your lungs unable to get enough oxygen as they needed to keep the fire burning.
Loki handed you his wrist with the metal band on it that was keeping his powers locked up. You carefully placed your pointer finger on the band, careful not to touch his skin. The band melted away enough for Loki to slip his hand out.
He looked at you with absolute shock as you released him of his confines. He didn't believe you were going to give him his full power back, he had given you no reason to trust him. But here you were, trusting him to do the right thing.
"Keep them busy as long as you can." You told Loki, "I have back up."
Loki nodded before reaching for his power. A dagger in his right hand a bolt of green magic in his left. "This is going to be fun." Loki told you maliciously, a evil smile playing on his lips.
You let your power drop, your eyes turning back to their normal color. The flames dropping leaving nothing behind but scorch marks. Loki leaped over the table as he threw daggers and bolts of magic at the agents.
He was a good fighter, dogging the oncoming attacks gracefully before countering with his own. It was easy to tell that he had practiced in the art of war for centuries. All of his moves cold and calculated.
You slumped back, bracing your back against the couch as you tried to cool off, steading your breathing. It didn't take a lot of time for you to recover form using your power. Just a few minutes of rest before you could get up and fight again.
It was a lot like sprinting. You could do it, but it took a lot of effort. Then after your sprint all you wanted to do was lay down and never move again. But after a few minutes you could get up and be perfectly fine. Sure you may not want to sprint again right after you recover, but you could if you needed.
As you watched Loki fight it became clear that he was starting to toy with them. There were times he could have easily taken out one or more agents, but would narrowly let them go just so he could play with his magic some more. Or maybe he was showing off... it was hard to tell.
"Retreat." One of the agents, most likely the leader of the attack, told the last of the standing agents. Most of them were on the floor, groaning in pain.
Him, and about three other agents ran for the doors to the stairs. Or at least where the doors used to be, they weren't there due to the explosion that blew them off their hinges.
Loki took off after them with you hot in his heals, chasing the four agents up the flights of stairs.
They ran out onto the roof before going into a dead sprint launching themselves over the edge.
You and Loki skidded to a stop, equally confused as to why one would jump off the tallest skyscraper in New York with no way to fly on your own. That was until you saw a small helicopter take off from a few stories below.
"How did we miss that?" Loki questioned as the helicopter flew off with the offending agents.
You didn't answer Loki. Nope. Instead you went into a full out sprint to the edge of the rooftop. "You better come fast bud." You told your dragon under your breath as you launched yourself off the top of the building.
Loki yelled for you as you fell, but his voice was drowned out by the wind rushing passed your ears.
'Come on.' You thought to yourself as the ground continued to get closer. 'I know your close.'
As if right on cue a heart stopping roar was heard over the whole city. Eclipse had finally arrived.
*
Eclipse spotted you, going into a full out dive to catch up. He hurdled down the side of the tower, the windows on the tower shanking as he dived from the shear speed he was going.
He got to you, wrapping his two front arms around your torso before spreading his massive black wings and leveling out. Taking both of you out of the dive.
He looked down at you, still clutched in his arms, and gave you a toothless smile. His chest rumbling as he purred.
"What took you so long?" You asked him teasingly.
He picked his head up rolling his eyes at you. You heard the rumbling in his chest as he mocked you.
"Can you help me up?" You asked him, wanting to get on his back instead of being clutched in his arms.
He sighed but helped you maneuver onto the back of his thick neck.
"Thanks bud." You told him once you were settled. You placed a gentle hand on his forehead as you thanked him. He purred at your touch. "Now, I believe I missed my flight," you told Eclipse happily, "do you think you can catch up with it?"
He roared happily as he sped off after the helicopter.
*
"There it is." You told Eclipse when the helicopter was in sight. "Lets get it bud."
Eclipse roared in agreement as the two of you closed in on the helicopter.
When the driver spotted you they tuned to face you and stopped all forward motion.
"What are they..." you started to ask Eclipse but couldn't get the whole question out before they opened fire. "Watch it!" You yelled as Eclipse dived out of the way spiraling towards the ground. You hung on as Eclipse leveled himself out flying back up.
The helicopter turned so it could keep its gun on you and fired again. Eclipse flipped and dodged in the air, as he evaded the bullets.
"Into the clouds." You told him as the gunfire stopped to reload. "They can't hit us if they can't see us."
Eclipse roared in agreement ascending into the cover of the clouds. Once in the coulds you went over the previous encounter with the helicopter in your head, coming up with a plan.
"We need to get the lead agent for questioning." You told Eclipse, but mostly you were talking to yourself. "That's why we can't just blast that heap of junk out of the sky. There is also the fact that if we do blast them out of the sky they could crash into a building killing hundreds of innocent people. The shooter also has a really good shot with that thing. We can't get close enough to safely take them out. And the gun is on the bottom of the helicopter, if we come up below it it will be easy for it to shoot us out of the sky." You laughed and whined at the same time as you pinched the bridge of your nose. "So how do we fight them?"
Eclipse grumbled, concerned over your stress, as he looked back at you.
"I got it!" You exclaimed a few seconds later. "We need to get above them."
Eclipse nodded and flew up out of the clouds back into the open as fast as he could. Once the two of you were directly over the helicopter you dived bombed it, but instead of shooting at it the two of you shot past it. This confused them long enough for you and Eclipse to flip over and shoot the gun on the underside of the helicopter, leaving them defenseless.
"Nice shot!" You praised Eclipse as he leveled out again. "Now lest help them land. Shall we?"
You flew back up the the helicopter, that was now trying its best to fly away from you, and fired at them. Eclipse hit the propeller, and not a second later the helicopter when hurtling towards the ground. Eclipse grabbed the tail of the helicopter with his talons, helping it crash land into the park, away from all the innocent citizens.
The helicopter hit the ground as Eclipse let go. It skidded and tumbled across the filled, leaving the grass torn up in its wake. Eclipse landed gracefully next the the crashed helicopter and you slid off his back to go apprehend... whoever thought it was a good idea to attack you. Eclipse walked behind you as backup while you went to go investigate the wreck.
"I thought you said the girl's dragon was off world." The lead agent practically yelled at another man you didn't recognize. The man had on a nice suit with big round glasses on his face. He was a bit on the chubby side, evident that he was not a filled agent.
"He was." The man spluttered as he climbed out of the wrecked helicopter. "He must have come back."
"Hands where I can see them." You told the six men all standing around the helicopter. There were four filled agents, one helicopter pilot, and the last guy who was getting yelled at you gussed was a scientist. They looked like they wanted to argue with you but Eclipse bared his razor sharp teeth and growled at them. A warning that he will attack if you were not taken seriously.
The men gulped as they raised their hands in surrender.
"I will be taking you back to the tower for questioning. But you will have to wait for me to get some lunch, because you all so rudely interrupted that." You told them with as much sass as you could muster. "If any of you tries to run my dragon will eat you." You informed them pleasantly before any of the tried that option.
You and Eclipse then took them back to the tower as fast as you could. You were extremely worried about a certain trickster god that you had to leave all alone in the tower with his full power. You really hoped he didn't teleport away. That would be a terrible thing you would have to explain to the team, and most importantly, Thor.
