It was Friday night. You had been at the school dance for a little under an hour and you already wanted to go home.
You were currently in the middle of a high school mosh pit, being jostled around and rammed into a big sweaty high schoolers. At the moment you were wedged between four giant dudes who were all jumping up and down with the rest of the crowd. You were so squashed in between them in fact at you were no longer jumping.
No.
The four boys were wedging you between them so severely that when the group jumped you would raise up off the floor with them at the same time. Even though you weren't actually using any of your muscles to jump.
You tried to get out of the pit, trying to squeeze your way through any open cracks, but there was no open cracks for you to squeeze through to get out.
'Why did I follow everyone into this mosh pit?' Your inner voice asked. 'I've lost my date, and my whole group. Now I can't get out. On top of all that everyone in here are super sweaty and smells like BO.'
A few more minutes of absolute misery passed before the music was shut off by the DJ and the vice principal's voice was heard over the speakers. "I will not be telling you kids this again." The vice principal practically growled into the microphone. "You are not allowed to form a mosh pit. Our last dance of last year had a mosh pit and it got way to intense. Two girls had to go to the hospital because they got trampled by the mosh pit and ended up breaking bones. If you guys mosh pit one more time the school dance will be ending early."
There were boos and hisses from the crowd. Some teenagers were yelling their disapproval of no longer being able to mosh pit, but the group broke up. Allowing you to quickly dart to the edge of the gym to get some personal space.
You watched as the music was turned back on and the high schoolers went back to regular dancing. Or as regular as dancing could be with a bunch of under age kids all in one room.
"Hey! Hey! Hey!" Someone yelled at you, though you could hardly hear them over the music. You turned to see MJ, Peter's girlfriend, a few feet away from you trying to get your attention. "How's your first high school dance treating you!?"
"It's not what I was expecting!" You yelled back, over the music. "Everyone's so..." you let your eyes wonder over the group of people dancing. Unfortunately your eyes decided to land on a couple grinding on each other like they were in some kind of bar and not a high school gymnasium.
'Gross.' You brain thought as your eyes darted away from the couple 'dancing.' 'That is now going to be burned into my brain forever.'
"Rowdy!?" MJ finished.
You nodded.
"Hopefully you weren't stuck in that mosh pit!"
"Oh no! I was!" You told her. "Now I feel gross and smell like body order!"
"The joys of high school!" MJ sighed.
Peter and Ned came up a few moments later. They asked how you were and complimented your dress. Though you knew your hair and makeup was a complete mess after being squashed in between a bunch of sweaty teens.
You talked with them for a bit until your phone went off in your pocket. You picked it up to see that it was Nick Fury who was calling you. Which meant that whatever he was calling you about couldn't be good.
You quickly excused yourself before heading out the gym and answering the angry sky pirate.
"Glad you picked up." Was the first thing you heard when your put your phone to your ear. "Maybe all teenagers aren't exactly the same after all."
"What are you talking about?" You asked Fury. Surly he wasn't calling you just to make sure you would pick up your phone for him.
"It doesn't matter." Fury replied rather shortly. Which was rude of him. He's the one that brought up... whatever he brought up. "Code Black. The team needs you out in the field. I'm sending you coordinates now."
Your phone went off not a moment later, giving you the exact position of the team in real time.
"Go home, suit up, and get to their position as fast as you can. I'll have an agent fill you in on the details while you fly." And with that Nick hung up his phone.
You called Eclipse with your power as you began walking as fast as you could towards the front doors of the school, telling him to come get you fast.
The team was your first priority, and they were your friends. If they needed you you would drop everything and go to them.
As you were walking to the front doors someone grabbed ahold of your wrist, stopping you in your tracks.
"(Y/n)?" It was Nate. "Where are you going?"
The look of absolute rejection on his face made your heart hurt. How could you, a super hero, leave the dance without telling your own date that you had to go first?
What kind of a jerk move was that?
"I'm sorry Nate." You apologized gently. "Director Fury just call me up. I'm needed out in the field."
"Oh... I thought you got the weekend off?"
"I did. But... you know how things are."
Nate nodded. "The life of a super hero..."
"Yeah." You agreed a little awkwardly, rubbing the back of your neck. "I'm sorry again."
"I understand." Nate told you, and you could tell he really did understand. Even if he was a little hurt.
You nodded, giving him a grateful smile before turning to leave again. But Nate had other plans. He grabbed your wrist again, turning you back to face him. You where about to scold him. Tell him you really needed to hurry but he cut you off. "Be carful." He told you confidently, a emotion flashing in his eyes that you couldn't quite place.
You gave him a weird look, wondering what he was up to when he quickly swooped in for a kiss.
Not even giving you settle hits that he wanted a kiss.
Not gently leaned into a kiss, so you could have the option to swerve.
No.
He full out swooped in for a kiss.
You froze out of complete shock. Freezing up the moment you felt his lips on yours. This was not how you wanted your first kiss to go.
One part of your brain was setting off red alarms. Another part of your brain was shouting, 'gross! Gross! Gross!' Whilst another was just confused as to what was going on.
After what felt like eternity, but was probably not even a few seconds long, Nate finally pulled away. "For good luck." Nate told you, giving you his most dashing smile. Or at least what he thought was a dashing smile.
You gawked up at him, extremely confused on what in the world just happened.
You should have slapped him.
Told him off.
Anything!
But your brain was having a major problem thinking at the moment. No one had ever just kissed you before. What was the protocol for something like this?
You heard Eclipse's roar from outside, telling you he was here. Your feet moved without you. Hauling you're confused butt out the doors and to your dragon.
*
"I can't believe him!" You yelled as you stripped off your dress and threw on your dragon riding suit. "He kissed me! Kissed me Eclipse! On the lips! He didn't even ask if I wanted him to kiss me!"
You were raging. Venting to your dragon. Your brain had finally snapped out of its confusion and you were now angry.
"Right when I was thinking Nate was ok, he goes and... kisses me! Was I giving him signals that I wanted a kiss?" You thought back over it again.
You told Nate the Avengers needed you. Told him you were sorry. And you were practically running out the door. Non of those things seamed like signals you wanted a kiss.
You shook your head, trying to shake those thoughts out of your brain. You couldn't over analyze your first kiss right now, you had a mission to crash.
You threw on your helmet that Tony had tricked out and jumped onto your dragon. "Let's fly." You told Eclipse.
He roared in agreement and jumped off your balcony, soaring into the night sky.
Your helmet went online and a path only you could see lit up, directing you to were the mission was taking place.
"(Y/n) do you read me?" A voice asked in your intercom built into your your helmet. "I'm Agent Moon. Director Fury has given me instructions to brief you on your upcoming mission."
"I read you Agent Moon." You told him.
"Hydra seams to have gotten their hand on a extra terrestrial creature."
"What!?"
"They haven't released it onto the team yet but that doesn't mean they wont. Stark picked up the creatures vital signs just barely. Your job is to go in and calm the creature before they can use it against the team."
"Understood." You told Moon.
"Good luck (y/n)." And with that the Agent hung up.
