Chapter 75: Naruto Still Loves Sakura?

Sakura sat alone at a secluded spot in the village, tears running down her face.

"Seems Naruto... has shouldered the burden of his promise to you... and plans to for the rest of his life."
Sai's words to her while they were in a tent with Shizune and a comatose Tsunade, affected her. "I don't know what you said to Naruto... but it's really no different than what was done to me... It's like a curse mark!"

Her teammate's words kept repeating itself in her mind.

"It's obvious that Sasuke is making Naruto suffer... but I think you may be too..."

Sakura had never allowed herself to think such a thing. That... she was part of the reason why Naruto was suffering for so long. He was always so cheerful. He always seemed as though nothing was bothering him. Yeah there were times where he'd be down about the whole Sasuke situation, but the girl had never fully realized just how much the genin was hurting.

For him to not even sell out Sasuke and put up with getting beaten so viciously by a kunoichi from the Cloud made the girl feel remorseful. She felt an ache in her heart that wouldn't go away.

"Don't you worry one bit! I'm gonna bring Sasuke back! I promise that on my life, Sakura!"

Naruto's promise. It was obvious to everyone that his promise to her was making him miserable. He strived day in and day out to do as much as he could so he could one day fulfill it.

'But why?' Sakura pondered. 'Why does he make himself suffer so much just so he could keep his promise to me?'

That's when Sai's words once again rang in her head.

"Naruto may claim he loves Nia... but even i'm able to see... that the truth is... HE'S STILL IN LOVE WITH YOU, SAKURA!"

The shock she experienced from Sai's words pierced her. It was hard to believe... but also not. Naruto had liked her their whole life. Sure, he may have had eventually found a girl to be with... but what if... just maybe... Sai was right? That Naruto was still in love with his first crush?

It would explain why he was so driven to keep his promise to her. Why he always seemed so upbeat around her. Why he... didn't really seem to be invested in his relationship with Nia... at least to the pink-haired kunoichi.

But even Sakura knew... he was going to be a father to two baby girls. For him to still have another girl in his heart while he was in a serious relationship with Nia was... distasteful.

Sakura tried to wipe her tears, but more only replaced them.

He may be with Nia... but that knucklehead had been in love with me for years. Even though he says he loves a different girl now doesn't make it true. Deep down... there's a real chance that fool still harbours feelings for me. And... if he does... there's only one way I could think of to get him to stop chasing after Sasuke!

In the Land Of Iron, Naruto sat in a room at an inn with tatami mats. His thoughts were of Sasuke. Nia entered into the room with a cup of ramen in hand.

"I... made you some ramen," She gave a warm smile. "I thought... you might like some."

Naruto's gaze fell upon his favorite meal briefly before he averted his eyes to the floor.

"Thanks... but i'm not really hungry right now, sweetheart."

Nia's smile fell.

"But Naruto... you never refuse ramen. This is even a new flavor I bought so you could try it out."

"I'm... just not in the mood to eat right now. I'm sorry."

"I see..." Nia set the food down then zipped down her jacket. "Maybe... you'd like to make love or even try my other hole? I know how badly you've been wanting to try new things in bed."

Naruto still wore a long face.

"Don't take it personally... but i'm not really in the mood for that either," He told the girl.

Nia frowned.

"Baby..." She approached him and sat down in the open space of his lap, her legs to each of his sides. "I know... I'm not the best at comforting people, but... is there anything I can do to make you feel better?"

"I... don't know if you... could do that..." The blond looked away.

Nia cupped his face in her hands and made him look at her.

"Baby... this whole Sasuke thing... He's making you miserable..."

Naruto didn't reply.

Nia added, "I understand that he's your friend and that he means a lot to you, but-"

"Sweetheart! He's about to get EXECUTED if I don't do something quick!"

"Yes, but Naruto..."

"But nothing, beautiful. Sasuke is MY FRIEND and I CAN'T let him be killed, ya know!" Naruto growled.

"I understand, but Naruto... It is true that he is a crimi-"

"And so what if he is! That makes it alright for him to get executed?!"

"Well, I personally don't think he should be executed, but honeybun... if he's really causing problems and has joined the Akatsuki, then... I think..."

"You think what!?" Naruto glared at the girl.

"Baby, don't be mad at me... but I think he should be imprisoned for his actions."

"But that's not what's happening! They're trying to kill him, beautiful!"

"Oh honeybun..."

Naruto frowned.

"I just can't take it... The fact that they're trying to take my best friend away from me. It's already bad enough that I had to deal with that pain once back before I met you when I had honestly thought he was dead."

Nia only listened.

"Gorgeous... I just don't think I'd be able to handle the pain of losing someone who's like a brother to me."

"Baby, you say that, but... Sasuke... he always seems like he wants nothing to do with you."

"It's only because his heart has become consumed by darkness. He refuses to acknowledge anyone from the village as his real friends!"

In anger, Naruto tore off the bandaging around his eye and cheek. Nia gasped but then was startled at how those areas were healed.

"I told you already, didn't I? I heal fast... so why you acting so surprised?" Naruto questioned.

"It's just... you were beaten so badly though."

"I know... and that's why I was so furious that you took a punch for me... cause you don't heal as fast as I do. That and because you were putting our precious babies in danger."

"The babies..." Nia rested a hand on her stomach. "The babies and I... We just want you to be safe and happy. We don't want you to suffer anymore, honeybun. Isn't that right... Naruta? Nisaki?"

Hearing this, a small smile appeared on Naruto's face.

"Nia, stand up. I wanna talk to our little ones face to face."

"Okay, honeybun," The girl blushed and did as told.

Naruto got on his knees and got Nia to lift her shirt up so her belly was exposed.

"Sweet babies... Daddy isn't feeling his best right now, but he just wants you to know that he loves you both very much and that he's doing his best to settle things peacefully with other villages. I know you two may be worried over your daddy right now, but if you keep cheering him on and believing in him, his spirits will rise again and he won't be feeling down anymore." He told them.

"M-Mommy loves you both too and she'll do anything to make daddy feel better so you don't have to worry about him," Nia added.

With that said, Naruto rubbed his hand across Nia's belly before planting a tender kiss to each side of it.

"Get some sleep, babies. Mommy and Daddy will talk to you two later. Goodnight," Naruto then pulled Nia's shirt over her stomach before rising to his feet, cupping Nia's face in his hands, and pressing his lips against her's.

"I love you, Nia. I really do. I just..." Naruto then paused.

"You just what, baby?"

"I just feel... really down. I think... I need some time to myself... to think."

"But honeybun... I can't just leave you in here alone feeling hurt."

"Please, sweetheart... I need... space."

Hearing this, Nia hugged the blond and kissed his cheek.

"I'm... here for you. Don't you know that?"

"Yes, sweetheart."

"I'll do whatever I have to in order to cheer you up. I'll give you some space if you need it, but please honeybun... if you need to talk, have someone listen to you, or need me for any reason at all... call for me. I'll be here to comfort you."

"T-Thank you..." Naruto hugged her back, keeping her close to him.

"I love you, Naruto..." Nia spoke softly.

Naruto kissed her forehead.

"I... love you too," He told her. "More than anything in this world."

The two shared a kiss before Naruto rested his hand on the small of Nia's back, leading her out the room, opening the door for her as she left.

Afterward, he laid in the same spot he was before.

His thoughts still remained on Sasuke. He wondered what his plans were now that he had killed Itachi. He wondered why he wouldn't return to the Leaf. He wondered if Sasuke still thought of him, Sakura, Kakashi and the rest of their friends back in the village.

However, his thoughts were cut short when a familiar voice caught his attention. Naruto's eyes became dull and went wide.

"We really need to talk... Naruto Uzumaki."
