Chapter 61: Heartfelt Reunion

"Uzumaki..." Naruto heard someone call his name as he stood in a field of flowers, cherry blossoms dancing through the air from the trees they blew out from.

Everything was a light pink all around him.

"Nia..." He took a step forward as he could see the kunoichi from a distance while she had her back facing him.

The wind softly blew at her hair and clothing as she slowly looked over her shoulder, a warm smile evident on her face.

"Come on, baby, let's go," She spoke.

"Nia!" Naruto, again, took a few more steps forward.

Nia only responded with a soft voice, "What's wrong? Don't you wanna be together forever?"

"I do... I wanna be with you more than anything."

"Then... let's go, okay?" She held out her hand for him. "Together..."

"Kuh!" Tears fell from Naruto's eyes as he sprung forward, running toward the girl's direction.

However, when he did, it seemed as though he was making no progress toward her. He was just moving in place.

'W-What's going on?' He thought as this happened. 'My feet are moving, but Nia only seems to get further and further away from me. There's no end to this!'

Soon, Nia's smile would fade away as she waited for him... then waited some more.

"Nia, I'm coming! Please! Just stay there!" Naruto reached his arm out as he continued to sprint.

However, when she did, there was a dark figure that stood behind her. They had a kunai in hand, ready to pierce her heart.

The sky suddenly turned bloody red as the flowers melted and Naruto found himself running atop of blood instead.

He screamed once he saw the masked man ready to strike the girl down.

"NIA!" Naruto suddenly sat up after having had been lying down a bed the entire time.

His eyes were wide and he panted heavily.

"You're finally awake," Kakashi was next to him in a hospital room, sitting in a chair beside his student's bed.

"Kakashi-sensei..." Naruto looked over to his left. "I don't get it... Where am I?"

"In the hospital, silly." The man replied.

"But..."

A flashback hit him as Nia's corpse was lying in his arms, bloodied and beaten.

"N-No..." A tear traced down his cheek as everything came back to him.

Grief... It felt like emptiness in Naruto's heart, a shear of nothingness that somehow took over and held his soul and threatened to kill him entirely. It gave him a heavy feeling that was like the weight of the world was resting on his shoulders and there was nothing he could do to get out from under it.

It was like this hole in his heart that was the shape of the one he lost and that made him feel the need to wipe away any non-existent tears that he wanted to form but couldn’t.

"Naruto... I heard from Sakura... about what happened..." Kakashi rested a hand on the blond's shoulder.

Naruto brushed it off and plopped back onto his pillow, his back facing his sensei.

He paused and sighed. "Why?”

He cast his gaze onto the window ahead of him and his eyes darkened.

"Why... did it have to happen?” His voice sounded more pained than anything.

The rain battered the window like hail. It was storming outside as Naruto felt he had a very storm going on in his own heart.

He knew things wouldn't be the same ever again. Nia was gone... His twins had died along with her to add onto all that.

The grief surged with every expelled breath, always reaching higher peaks, never sufficiently soothed by his long intakes of the dry air. Tears began to spill from his helpless eyes.

He could write a million letters, each one the same as the last in sentiment and cadence. They stayed the same, only the word arrangement changed. It boiled down to one thing: He missed them. They should be here. Ultimately, no one knew if that was selfish or not and even if it was, to hell with the rest of the world and their opinions. They should be with him. He missed them... He missed Nia.

Her pretty brown eyes, beautiful smile, wily heart, torn mind, and kind, tortured soul. His heart was missing an integral piece, a part that kept it from working correctly. 

"Naruto!" The door suddenly slid open as a familiar voice perked the genin's ears up.

His heart stopped as his eyes widened.

'That voice...' He slowly sat up and looked to the doorway.

There she stood... Nia... her sluggish features suspended between grief and joy while tears rained down her face as the two made eye contact.

Seconds passed, Naruto's brain taking her in, struggling to comprehend that she wasn't one of the pictures he kept beside his bed... that she was real. His brain couldn't formulate a thought, at least not one based in any language, and if he didn't touch her soon, his atoms would tear themselves apart.

"NIA!" He screamed as he tore the blankets away from him and jumped to his feet.

How the ground between them erased he'll never recall, but one moment they were apart and the next they were morphed into a single being.

The warmth of her body met his cold skin. One of his hands clasped around her lower back, the other stroked her hair. With each soft touch, more tears fell... tears neither of them wiped away. After the tragedy that befallen them, they would have another chance to make new memories.

"Nia! Nia!" Naruto sobbed loudly as he nuzzled his cheek against her's as the girl held onto him tightly.

"N-Naruto," She weeped as she sniffled.

The ninja would slightly pull away, cupping her tear-stained cheeks in his hands as they gazed into one another's eyes.

"How?! How could you be... right here with me? You're supposed to be... I mean... Just how?!" He was just utterly speechless.

"Jiraiya-sensei... He... He..."

"Nia!" Naruto only pulled her back into a hug and kissed her cheek.

He would then drop to his knees, lifting her shirt as he wrapped his arms around her waist.

"My babies!" He kissed her exposed belly before rubbing his cheek against it. "Daddy's here! Daddy loves you so much, ya know!"

"Congratulations, Naruto," Kakashi stood behind the young man with a close-eyed smile. "You're going to be a father to baby twins."

"Oh, my heart!" The blonde grasped his heart and looked up at the girl. "Is this really happening?! Are you really alive, Nia?! Are my babies really okay?!"

Nia dropped to her knees also and hugged him.

"Yes, baby. I'm really here and our babies are just fine."

Naruto completely broke down after being told that. He cried uncontrollably and trembled as he held onto his girlfriend. Nia too was in tears and sobbed with him, tightening her hold on him.

Both were over the moon about being reunited. Both were ecstatic over having another chance to be together and both were overcome with emotion that their babies were safe and sound.

"I s-swear..." Naruto croaked. "I swear I'll never let what happened out there ever happen again. I'll never let you or our babies out of my sight again, Nia."

"I love you so much, Naruto." Nia whimpered as her shoulders heaved.

"I love you too, I love you too!" Naruto wept.

Kakashi only smiled on as the two took the time to let their emotions out.

"I swear you are absolutely everything to me," Naruto then cupped Nia's tear-stained cheeks and gazed her in the eyes. "You mean the world to me, ya know!"

Nia only sniffled as the two would then lean in and kiss. It would be the most sweetest and most passionate kiss they ever shared.

Afterward, their lips parted and they rested their foreheads' against one another, smiling at eachother and holding hands.

"I love you," The genin would tell Nia once more as he gazed deeply into her eyes.

Nia reddened as he squeezed her hands.

"I love you, too," She replied, giving the blond a peck on the lips.

"Okay you two, now that you've reunited, there's some things I'd like to ask Nia, if that's all right with you, Naruto?" Kakashi asked.

He received no response as the two lovebirds continued to lock eyes and grin at one another.

Seeing this, Kakashi only sighed yet understood that this moment was precious to the lovers.

"All right, all right, I'll give you guys an hour to spend time with one another, but after that, I'm really going to need to question Nia about some things."

Again, no response.

And so, Kakashi left the two to be alone.

A/N - Yep, that's the end of this chapter. I kinda stumbled into a writer's block and so thats why it wasn't as long lol

Let me know what Naruto and Nia should discuss next chapter and give me some ideas lol cause yo girl's imagination is not working with her right now.
