Once you and Hiccup were inside and had settled, the formalities were cast aside. You father came over and he quickly pulled you into a hug. "It's been so long! Where were you all this time?" You could only give a sad smile. "I...don't remember much, I'll admit that. But I know I've been with Astra the whole time. Until..." You paused and glanced towards Hiccup. "Until what?" Your father asked curiously.

"Until Hiccup saved me. I was on an island, and I think Astra abandoned me? I don't know. I think she was getting help, actually." Your father pulled away and held your shoulders, a sombre look in his eyes. "Your foggy memories, I think it's because you were..." he paused as if carefully choosing his next words, "'touched', as a child." You tilted your head to the side. "Touched?" You echoed, confused.

Hiccup wasn't believing any of this. You were fine. How could you be 'touched'? You father pursed his lips, before continuing. "When you were young, you'd act up. Do strange things and have moments where you weren't you." Sadness glittered in his eyes as tears began to well. "There were times where your mother and I thought you were gone. You wouldn't have any clue as to who we were, or even who you were. At first, the healers thought you had amnesia, but it happened too frequently.

And it happened without head trauma. Which meant you were...touched." He gave you a sad smile, but it looked more like he was pressing his lips into a tight line. "So you're saying I was mentally sick as a child? That could explain the memories being gone, but..." You paused, not wanting to make mention that this world somehow wasn't real. You were beginning to second guess everything. "But?" Your father echoed, trying to urge you on. "Oh, nevermind."

He nodded and then froze. "Wait here. I have something for you." And with that, he scurried off, out of the room. Hiccup stood and placed a hand on your shoulder. "Are you really believing this, (name)?" He frowned at you, and you could see the mistrust and disbelief in his emerald eyes.

"Yes. What else is there for me to believe? I vaguely remember him, Hiccup. Please understand that. Please understand that he's the only thing I have to remember my past." Your lips quivered slightly as you gave a small smile, placing a hand to Hiccup's cheek and pulling him into a hug. He tried to hold back but he couldn't resist leaning into your touch, or closing his eyes as he did so. He couldn't resist to wrap his arms around you tightly and hold you for a little longer in his embrace.

You pulled back and smiled a little more, turning as your father walked into the room again. "Here. This is yours." He took your hand and placed something small and cool in your hand. When you looked, there was a small wolf pendant. "What's—?" He cut you off quickly. "The family crest. It's an heirloom that now belongs to you."

You ran a thumb gently over the pendant and a surge of memories hit you. You remembered seeing your father wearing this. Seeing the wolf crest on the flags around the town square on celebrations. You smiled softly as you put it on. "It's beautiful. Thank you, dad." Your father beamed ear to ear before it fell slightly.

"I...I do have something to ask of you now." You looked up at your father. "What is it?" Hiccup looked towards your father too. He hoped it wasn't anything bad. "I wanted to know if...if you'd stay? Be a part of this family again? Your mother is on a trip to see her sister but I'm sure she'd be thrilled when she returns." You didn't know what to say or do. You looked towards Hiccup, hoping he'd help you out.

But when your eyes met with his own, you could see the hurt and sadness swimming in his eyes, dulling the brightness of his emerald eyes you were slowly loving. Wait, loving? You looked a while longer. Yes, loving. You confirmed to yourself. "H-Hiccup?" You asked, voice wavering. He frowned a little, not liking the uncertainty in your voice. He nodded towards your father, silently telling you to stay with your father whilst his heart dropped.

You didn't like seeing him like this. He looked so fragile and hurt at once. You did want to get your memories back but...at the same time you didn't want to leave Hiccup. You were starting to take a liking to the handsome young man, and you didn't think you'd be able to go a day without seeing him. And also, there was the fact that for twelve years of your life, you were with Astra. Your father wouldn't help you find those lost memories.

With a sigh, you dropped your gaze to the floor and took a deep breath. "I'd love to—" Your father lurched forward, pulling you into a massive hug without letting you finish. Hiccup dropped his gaze and looked crestfallen. He felt crestfallen. He knew he was loving you and now you made the decision to stay behind with your real family. You frowned and regretted the little push you gave your father, to get some space away from him. "Yes, I'd love to, but..."

Hiccup looked up, meeting your eyes. Was that a...spark of hope in his emerald eyes? "But...?" Your father echoed, hoping he wasn't going to hear what he thought he was. You took another deep breath, hesitantly moved your gaze from Hiccup, and looked at your father. He was looking at you with hope in his eyes too. Excitement and fear swarmed his eyes like he didn't know what was coming next.

"I...I can't." Both your father and Hiccup looked at you in shock. "I'm sorry, but I just can't."
