14. But Jorel do!
Stephanie's P.O.V
Jorel's words hurt her. Why? Because she realized that he told her the truth.
Since the death of her mother she had no other feelings about his father than fear. She remembered the nights during which she was unable to stay with him under one roof. Then, indeed, she found a shelter in Jorel's house. Still, something did not allow her completely turn away from his dad. The same feeling has not received the news that because of her he would be hurt. Even if he hurt her.
If it was about Aron he also hit the nail on the head. She had a weakness for him, she could not overcome. She keep repeating the same mistakes, usually bitterly regretting. She should do something about it, but she did not dare. When she was with Deuce she felt some stability in life. She went to studies, she had someone to whom she could always go back. Even if they rarely saw each other she still was aware that somewhere there is someone who will be with her - at least theoretically - no matter what. Maybe that's why she was afraid to change anything. She feared that with the departure of Deuce everything falls apart and she will have to go back to the old life in constant fear about the future.
She doesn't know what to do with herself. Jorel need some time to cool off, she didn't want to annoy him even more. She picked up the phone, open the contact list and dialed Matt.
- Kurlzz? You have some freetime? I am gladly to get drunk but I don't have company. Uh-huh. Okay. I will be in a moment.
She took her leather jacket and walked out into the night.
Da Kurlzz's P.O.V.
When Stephanie called him and asked about the meeting, he felt that something was wrong. Well, because it is a matter of fact there was no such "ordinary" meeting. Brunette offered him an alcoholic libation. He felt that Jorel will kill him. But he could not refuse her. He preferred that she will drank with him than alone, because at least he can safely discontinued her home. So he decided to take a chance.
Matty did not even have to ask what happened. After a few glasses Steph's tongue solved itself. They sat in a very noisy club. Around them young people were padding against each other in the rhythm of electronic music, proudly calling it what they did "dance". The boy didn't like such places, but did not have too much choice. His companion at the entrance leaned few rainbow shots, then headed straight to the bar. She ordered a bottle of whiskey and while walking she did some dance moves which surely would have won a dance contest (if such thing take place right now) went to the table. Matthew bravely followed her.
- ... And then he reproached me Aron, that I kind of give myself to humiliate by him. Tell me, Matty, is it really as bad as it looks? - Stephanie looked at him like a whipped dog. Alcohol began to bring out her heartfelt emotions. Matthew prayed only that she falls apart not because he certainly will follow in her footsteps. And he really don't want it.
- Well, you know, maybe not "so" bad, but ya know... - said Curly, all the while looking around the room. A strange feeling that at any moment Jorel will show up and drag him away for rags did not leave him. With nerves he began to even move his leg.
- Well, but I love him ... - brunette mumbled, resting her head on her hands. In her other hand she had a glass of drink.
- No, you think so.
- Not at all. He loves me.
- He is too fake. He's using you. I know what I'm saying.
- You don't know what true love is! - Steph exclaimed suddenly, rising rapidly while smashing a glass on the floor.
- Maybe I did not but Jorel yes! - He shouted, before he could bite his tongue.
The girl looked at him wide-eyed.
- But, what is that supposed to mean ...? - she asked confused. From oppression rescued Matt the bartender.
- You will have to pay for it - he said, pointing to the broken glass.
- Yeah, sure, of course, boss. I'll pay and we're out - said Matt, deducting the appropriate amount and handed it to the bartender. Then he took Stephanie's arm and led her out into the fresh air. Under the influence of contact with it Steph grabbed her stomach and puked right under her feet. Kurlzz quickly grabbed her hair, giving her time for herself. During this not very pleasant process he made sure that her hair would remain intact, with the other hand supporting her, so she would not fall on her face. He imagined the epitaph on his tombstone. When she finished, he led her into the shop, while he bought her water to rinse the throat. The next step was to take a taxi. For a moment he hesitated with an address, but at last resigned and recited Jorels address. He looked at taped to the glass, half delirious friend and sighed resignedly.
- I swear, it's not what you think.
Before the door of the J-Dog's house was Da Kurlzz. Everything would be okay, if not one detail. Stephanie sleeping in his arms.
- What the hell? - asked confused and sleepy Decker.
- We drank, well, actually, she drank, I watched over her, and well.... it came out on that I didn't watch her as I should - explained Matt, feeling more and more plunges.
Jorel let drummer in the door, in the meantime pinching himself to check if this is really not a dream. He rubbed his eyes and dragged behind Matt. Seeing Steph like that shoked him. Girl usually shunned alcohol, fearing she would go in her father's footsteps.
Kurlzz laid unconscious girl on the couch, taking care not to wake her.
- Now speak - Jorel said, crossing his arms.
- She called me, she said she wanted a drink. I didn't think she meant "drink-drink", you know what I mean ... - seeing Decker's gaze he shook his head and continued. - She said that you had an argument, than she drank a little too much, so I decided to drive her home. I preferred to go with her than worried bout her going to some dubious pubs by her own.
J closed his eyes for a moment and leaned his head back.
- Thank you - he said finally, and Matt let out loud air, unknowingly paused for a long time.
- You're welcome. Always at your service. Bye.
Jorel drained Kurlzz to the door and bid him farewell. Then he returned to the living room, covered Stephanie with a blanket, and he sat on a chair next to if anything happened to be near her.
