Too close for comfort
He wakes to the sound of birds chirping and water trickling. A familiar smell surrounds him and he opens his eyes. He was still in the sunroom, although night had passed and he woke to the soft morning light. He hadn't noticed the clear crystals hanging all over the room. The sun has hit them just right to refract the light into rainbow specks that scatter across the floor and furniture. Absolutely stunning. As he looks around his eyes are drawn to his bare chest. He notices his clothes have been removed with only his boxers left on. He is quickly reminded of blonde hair and green eyes.
"Luna?" He calls out, but no response. His heart thumps in his chest as he searches the room turning his head and shockingly his shoulders move with him.
I can move...
He tests the theory first by moving his toes and fingers, sure enough they respond. Although very weak he can now move his entire body with minimal pain.....
She did it!...
He sits up fully without the support of the bed and scans the room for her. His eye catches on a small makeshift bed on the floor ten feet away. There she is in the middle of white rose print blankets lying on her side.
His breath catches. His mind begins to spiral, did something happen? Is she ok? All he can remember is taking a hit to his chakras all at once by a large source of energy then he blacked out. He springs to his feet calling her name but can barely get it out.
"Lun..."
Big mistake. Yes he could move, but he didn't anticipate how weak he was. His ears ring and his vision blurs. He stumbles to the left, falling to his knees and grunts as he hits the floor.
To his relief she calls his name.
"Kakashi?"
"I'm ok, just give me a minute." He replies holding back his nausea. It starts to fade over time and slowly he leans back on his heels shaking his head.
"Fuck..."
He looks over to her now that he can see properly. She is still in the same spot, her hair cascading down one side of her face. She lifts herself up supporting her body with one hand just as the sunlight hits the dip in her hip creating a halo of soft back lighting behind her. He can do nothing but stare even though his body begs him to lie down he was not able to take his eyes off her. Not able to shake the vision of her right now, he wanted this imprinted in his mind forever. If Takamagahara was a woman she would be it.
Concerned by his staring and the fall she wanders over to him grabbing her silk house coat on the way and throwing it over her shoulders. She kneels down.
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah, I'm a little light headed. What happened?."
She sighs and smiles sympathetically.
"I'm sorry, your healing was...harder than I thought. It will be another week before you feel yourself again." She sweeps her hand over his hair and down the side of his face. As she does her house coat falls off the opposite shoulder revealing a wound her hair was covering.
"What is that?" He asks, reaching out to examine it.
She jerks back covering up the gash and shys away.
"What happened?" Kakashi presses.
"It's nothing, don't worry." She laughs, shrugging it off. But that was far from nothing, that was a fresh wound and he needed to know where it came from. He prays it's not from himself.
"Luna, tell me."
She looks at him sincerely and her eyes water up slightly. He grabs the housecoat and slowly pulls it down revealing the wound. It was large and deep.
She swallows hard.
"Y-your Sharingan....it's strong."
His eyes widen and a pain worse than being stabbed repeatedly in the chest hits him. He runs his fingers along the wound hating himself.
"I did this?"
"No, your sharingan was protecting you. I made the mistake of pushing your body too hard. I had to...I...had to go into your mind to stop it. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that. Please forgive me."
And that adorable smile fades into sorrow. A tear slips down her cheek and he catches it with his thumb.
"It's ok, it's not your fault." He consoles, hating the sadness in her eyes.
She grabs his hand fiercely.
"No you don't understand, I broke code. I saw too much, without your consent, I deserve every bit of this."
He understood shinobi codes and their severity, breaking them has consequences. But it looks as if she had learned her lesson and then some.
"I understand, but I don't have much to hide. What did you see." Kakashi replies, trying his best to comfort her.
She looks directly into his eyes.
"I am so sorry for what happened to you, your loss is...I am just so sorry...." And she places a soft kiss on his cheek before rising to her feet.
He sits there stunned, how could she possibly have seen everything? He was strong and almost immune to mind control and mind penetration, it seems impossible she got as far as she did.
"Let's get you back into bed, I'll make something to eat, ok?" She says quietly.
He nods still stuck deep in thought. She must have immense training in mind control jutsu of some sorts, then again he hasn't seen her use any hand seals at all. Is her chakra control that advanced? He would definitely be able to tell using his sharingan but it hasn't seen a damn thing. Her chakra use was very basic and the energetic channeling was low. Except for when he went unconscious, but was that an enhancement from the crystals? He looks around for the crystals she had used and shockingly he finds them all shattered into pieces on the floor beside his bed along with several planters and two wood tables.
Shit...
Shame hits him hard. He has done nothing but cause her problems since she found him, but this is what always happens to him. This is why he never gets close to anyone, he will only cause them harm. It was about time he made his way back to hidden leaf village and away from this innocent girl before something worse happens. She should have left him to die on the forest floor..
"Kakashi."
She calls bringing him back to reality...Her beautiful eyes worried for him.
"Yeah...that sounds good." He agrees, barely remembering the question in the first place.
She helps him up onto his feet carefully and shuffles him over to the bed. He slumps down on it exhausted from just those few steps. She lets her hands linger on his shoulders longer than he wants. He needs to leave, this is all too much for him.
"I think it's time for me to go." He states.
Her breath hitches. Which causes his heart to skip, he knows he just hurt her even more.
"I'm sorry, Kakashi. I didn't mean to, please don't leave yet. You need more healing." He can hear her breath shake in her last words. He swallows the lump growing in his throat and reminds himself to be strong.
"How much longer?"
She kneels down before him and he avoids eye contact this time. For looking into her eyes will cause him to soften and give into whatever she asks. She studies him for a moment then asks a question he can't avoid.
"Am I the problem here?"
He pauses not wanting to say what he has to say. He swallows again.
"Yes." But instead of her storming off like every other woman has when he does this she places her hands on his and squeezes them.
"I promise to do things more professionally from now on. I won't cross your boundaries, but you must let me finish...please." Tears stream down her smooth cheeks. His heart was aching to hold onto her. Yet it hurt more to push her away before his emotions got the better of him and he let her take his heart. He couldn't let that happen...
"How much longer?" He repeats. This time barely making out the words.
"A week. I promise, and you will be better than ever."
Could he hold out for seven more days? It's only been just over 12 hours and he has felt every emotion he has tried to avoid his entire life.
"Kakashi, please."
"Ok, but I don't want to be responsible for any harm that comes to you." That was the truth. It's tearing him apart what he has done to her already.
"I will never blame you for what happened last night. That kind of work is finished, it's smooth sailing from here on out." Finally she smiles and he caves.
"I am just worried. I also don't understand why you're wasting so much time on me."
"Saving a life is never a waste of time." She bites her plush bottom lip seizing any animosity between them.
"You're right. So...what's for breakfast?" He asks, Pushing everything aside for now.
"I'll surprise you, how about that." She winks.
"I trust you with my taste buds." He says and waved his hand.
"You relax, I'll bring you some tea soon. I have also washed your clothes and mended them. They will be dry soon."
"Thank you."
And she leaves to the kitchen.
———————————-
This had to be the longest day of his life. He felt like a useless dirt bag moping around her house doing minor things to improve his strength at a turtle's pace. The exercises were ok, but boring and frustrating all at the same time. Although every time she fed him he felt a little more strength return. He wonders if she is hiding some kind of energy booster in his food. Either way whatever she is doing it is working...slowly.
"See if you can lift this pan, here." She holds it out to him.
He grabs it, albeit shaking the entire time. He grits his teeth as he lifts it an inch then drops it on the floor.
"This is pathetic." He states hating the condition he is in.
"Hey now, don't be so hard on yourself. You're doing great! You'll be making me breakfast before you know it." She smirks.
He laughs.
"Is that what these exercises are for?"
"Maybe."
"That's why I'm using kitchen items to build strength....How do you know I can even cook?"
She places her hands on her hips challenging him.
"You'll be a professional by the time I'm done with you."
"Oh really."
"Really."
"Well, at least I'll come out with a retirement job. Doubt I'll be doing anything ninja after this."
She gasps.
"Are you doubting my healing skills?"
His face flushes a deep red at his stupid comment. It wasn't what he meant at all. He shakes his head cursing himself.
"Kakashi Hatake..."
Shit, she used my full name....
"I assure you your shinobi skills will be in full force by the end of the week. In fact they will be even better before you leave." She scolds with her chin held high.
He presses his hands together praising her.
"Luna, I don't doubt your healing skills at all."
She smiles wildly at his groveling and pats his head.
"Good boy."
But that comment challenged his manhood and he stupidly opens his mouth again.
"Hey now...I'm no pet, miss. And obedience isn't my forte. You are lucky you've gotten this far. If you were my sensei it would be a whole different story."
Her pretty mouth reveals a sly smile and she begins to think.
Fuck...no backing down now.
"You want me to be your sensei?"
He scratches the back of his neck. Trying to think of an answer that one doesn't insult her skills, and two doesn't make him look like an asshole.
"Well, you would have to have combative training, and know jutsu well. You also need to be a part of a shinobi organization of some sorts. Do you have any of these?"
She shakes her head.
"Sorry sweetheart. You'll just have to learn to live with me then." He smiles through his mask.
She challenges his smile by closing the distance between them. She is so close at this moment he can smell her perfume and feel the heat rising off her chest. He clears his throat.
"You are not my pet, but if you ever wanted to play the role let me know, I think it would be a fun learning experience." She winks then looks him up and down before wandering over to the pot he had dropped and picks it up. He hadn't realized how hard it was to breathe until now, he also hadn't realized how turned on he was until he looked down at his pants. He quickly finds a seat and something to take his mind off of what she just said, so much for keeping things professional. Maybe she was having just as much trouble as he was.
"You ok?" She asks, noticing his discomfort.
"Yeah... I just need a minute....Feeling tired."
"Alright you sit tight and let me know when you want to start again."
Might be awhile...
———————————
Evening finally came. It was nice watching the sunset from the sunroom, especially when the small crystals glisten over the floor. But his attention always shifts towards her when she is in the room. It was hard not to watch her. He found himself taking notes on the little things about her. Like the mole on her right shoulder, the thickness of her thighs, the way she bites her lip when he talks about his ninjutsu training. Her adorable giggles and nose scrunches, the way she moves around her home with graceful steps and sometimes clumsy ones. There was a long period of time where he had watched her water each plant in the house, etching every bend of her body into his mind leaving him hot and bothered by the end of it. She was to die for....
Six days left... and counting.
Once the sun had set she had offered him another spectacular dinner. He hasn't eaten this well in a long time and savored every bite. After they ate they both sat down together on the makeshift bed on the floor. He hadn't planned on sitting this close to her, yet he couldn't resist when she asked. It was probably the dress she was wearing that had him so whipped. A shorter A-line style made from a comfortable material. It was casual yet it hugged her curves perfectly with some flare at the bottom and swished as she walked around. He liked that a lot.
She lays on her back on the floor bed with her knees up pressed together. But that doesn't stop the dress from riding up just enough for him to see her panties at the right angle and he tried everything to find that angle.
"Kakashi?"
"Yeah?"
"Can I ask you something personal?"
He closes his eyes not wanting to expose his heart to any part of this question. But he doesn't have it in him to say no either right now as he is too fixated on her thighs.
Fuck....
"Possibly?."
She giggles.
"What were you doing in the forest before the divine spirit came?"
"I was looking for something." He says simply.
"Oh."
Silence...
"Kakashi?"
He laughs.
"Yes, Luna?"
"Did you find it?"
He thinks back to before he had gotten skewered. He had come close, so close to finding what he was looking for he could feel it. A rogue ninja who is supposed to help him reach absolute chakra control. Whatever that entails, Jaraiya had convinced him this was his last test and if he passed he would be just as good as he is. He also mentioned the possibility of another dojutsu eye, there was no way he would pass up this opportunity. But things didn't go the way he had expected.
"I was close but I didn't quite find what I was looking for."
"Hmm. Well I am sure you will find it soon."
He hopes so too, but right now his main focus is on the long legs beside him and the smell of her perfume. They lie together silently watching the stars through the sunroom glass until he falls asleep.
