|Chapter One : Prologue|
It's a big bungalow, standing tall in the most posh area of Mumbai City. The bungalow is elegantly designed.
It's quite big, with a big lawn, playing area and seating arrangement as well. Also, there is a fountain on one side, which changes colours in the night. This is the scenario of the Singhaniya Mansion, owned by the ace Businessman, Viren Singhaniya. He lives with his parents and a little daughter, Raina Singhaniya.
It's morning, an old couple are sitting in the garden, in the seating area. They are having their morning tea. The middle aged man is in his mid fifties, he is Shrikant Singhaniya. He's reading the newspaper, while the lady is Madhu Singhaniya, his wife. They are talking about the usual stuff that's happening in their life.
Meanwhile, their attention is broken by a loud voice. Madhu looks up and finds her son entering the gate of the mansion. He's Viren Singhaniya, shrikant and Madhu's son. He's yelling at someone over the phone.
"Mr. Sharma, aaj client se meeting hain, aur aapka kaam abhi tak pending hain. This is so irresponsible." he shouts over the phone.
"Nahi! Mujhe aaj meeting se pehle sari files ready chahiye. No tantrums will be tolerated. Did you get it? Finish it all, before I reach the office." Viren says over the phone and disconnects the call.
He takes a deep breath. He can't take it if his employees are late in finishing the work, or there is any mistake in the same. Today, his manager is saying that the files for a meeting aren't ready, while Viren is all set to do the meeting, he has fixed the same. He walks over to his parents and touches their feet to greet them. His mother pulls him and makes him sit beside herself.
"Kitni baar samjhaya hai tumhe, Viren!! Kyun itna gussa karte ho? Gusse se toh bane hue kaam bhi bigad jaate hain beta." Madhu, his mom says.
"Maa! It's all for saying. Ab jab log thik se kaam nahi karenge toh gussa toh aayega hi." Viren says as he sips his tea.
" Uff! Par iska ye matlab nahin hain, ki tum har waqt gussa karo. Na Jaane tujhe kya hua hain!!" his mother whispers dejectedly.
Some incidents have made her son silent, rude, arrogant and adamant. He is raging every now and then. As a mother, Madhu wants her son to be happy, sound and safe. But it's a far away reality. She sighs, as her son hugs her.
"Sorry Maa. I know mujhe gussa nahi karna chahiye, par kya karu! I cannot control myself. Anyway, don't worry. Ab aapko shikayat ka mauka nahi milega." Viren says as he kisses his mum's head.
Madhu looks at her son and he assures her. Meanwhile, something strikes Viren's mind, and he makes his way inside the house. Shrikant and Madhu smile at his fastened steps as they know what he is upto.
Viren enters a room, the room is painted in pink colour. There's a big portrait of Viren and a little girl in the center of the wall. On one side, there is a bunk bed, in pink color. It's a stylish bed, where there's a space leading to stairs, which take you to the upper bed. On the upper bed, there are dolls arranged on the bed, while, on the lower bed, a little girl is asleep.
Beside the bed, there is a study table, with a revolving chair. Above the table, there is an almirah, probably containing books. On the opposite corner, there's a stand holding the soft toys, and a small floor bed, flooded with toys. It seems like that it's the playing space for the little girl. On the wall opposite to the bed, there's an almirah, and a door leading into the washroom. It's quite a Princess kind of a room.
Viren sits on the bed, and removes the blanket, revealing the pretty face of his little one.
The girl is Raina, Viren's beloved daughter. He kisses her head softly and calls her by her name. The girl stirs in her sleep and opens her eyes to look at her father.
"Wake up, Princess." He says smearing her head.
" Noo! Raina ko sona hai.". She says in her babyish tone and keeps her head in his lap.
" Arey! Fir school ke liye late ho jayenge na hum." Viren says.
"Dadi late nahi hone dengi." The girl says but something strikes her and she sits up on the bed facing her father.
"Uffo papa! Aapko kuch nahi pata. Aaj Saturday hain aur aaj Raina ka holiday hain." she says slapping her forehead and it makes Viren smile.
"Oops! Main toh bhul gaya. Sorry Princess." he says pulling her in his lap.
The little girl looks at her father, she knows that he's often busy in his work, but he manages time for her. It's okay, if he forgot, but he should not forget his promise.
" Lekin aapne promise kiya tha ki hum aaj ghumne jayenge. Wo nai bhulna, Papa." she stares into her dad's eyes.
"Nahi bhulunga, Princess. Aaj papa jaldi aayenge phir, Papa, Raina aur Dadu, Dadi, bahar jayenge." He says softly as he cups his daughter's face.
"Yay! Thank you Papa!!" she chuckles and kisses his cheek out of excitement.
Viren smiles at her antics and lifts her in his arms but she tickles on his neck, losing his grip on herself and runs around the room. Viren runs behind her to catch her and the chase begins.
Outside the room, his parents are witnessing the scene, and this is the only time when they get to see their son happy and smiling, with his little one, who manages to put a smile on his face. Madhu looks at her husband, who embraces her with one arm, assuring her that their son will find his complete happiness soon.

In the other part of the city, there's another family, The Mehrotra's. They own a big bungalow, with a large garden, and a swing.
The play area in the garden is mandatory for the two kids of the house. The bungalow is silent. A girl enters a room, which is painted in pink. The wall behind the bed is occupied with pictures of a little girl with her mother and her mother's sister. A little girl is soundly asleep on the bed, hugging her teddy bear. The lady sits on the bed adoring her little one. She kisses her head and that wakes up her daughter, who crawls into her mother's lap.
She's Bulbul Goenka, and the little girl is Anamika Goenka. The little girl snuggles to her mother, while Bulbul smears her head.
"Ana! Wake up baby!" she says softly.
"No! Aaj chutti hain, Mumma!" Anamika says in her babyish tone, hiding her face in her mom's lap.
" Acha toh thik hain, fir main Ritik bhaiya ke sath water park chali jati hun. Tum so jao. Okay!" Bulbul says intentionally.
Anamika lifts her face with a jerk to look at her mom.
" Water park jayenge!?" she asks.
"Haan! Kal hi toh plan banaya tha na aapne??" Bulbul asks.
Last night, it was planned that Anamika will go to the water park with her elder brother Ritik and his parents. Bulbul had some meeting, and so she decided to let them go. But Anamika wants her mother along.
" Aap bhi chalo na! " Anamika says.
"Betu! Mumma ko kaam hai na!" Bulbul says.
"Nai! Chalo na. Maasi bhi aayegi." Anamika says for her mother's sister.
"Han toh Maasi rahengi na bache!" Bulbul tries to convince her as Anamika makes place in her mother's lap.
" Ana ko Mumma aur Maasi dono chahiye." She says.
Bulbul smiles. The little girl always tries to take her mom along, but Bulbul steps back always due to an unknown reason. She embraces her daughter.
" Acha toh raat ko dinner pe chalenge na, betu! Mumma, Ana, Ritik bhaiya aur Maasi bhi! " She says.
"Dost kab aayenge!" she asks for her maternal uncle, that is Vineet, for he is always filling in the void of her father for her.
"Vo jaldi aayenge, tab tak Ana,Maasi aur mumma aur Ritik bhaiya enjoy karenge." She says.
Anamika chuckles and a boy of 8 years of age comes running in the room.
" Ana, ready ho jao jaldi. Aaj mumma ne cake banaya hai.." He says.
"Cake khayenge!" Anamika chuckles along with her brother.
"Acha acha! Abhi dono ready ho jao." Bulbul says and the kids chuckle.
Ritik runs out while Bulbul makes Anamika bath ready. She smiles as the girl plays in the water and continues to play with her unknown to the fact that a pair of eyes is watching her, hoping for her happiness.
To Be Continued.
Will Viren and Bulbul move on in their lives?
Stay tuned.
