24.Only heir.
Riya's POV
I looked at Ayush a bit nervously holding his hand very firmly.
"Granny" I hugged her soon she opened the door.
She lifted her head to catch a glimpse of my face and cupped it instantly with her hands.
"Riya..." She smiled broadly and kissed my forehead.
"Did you forgive me?" I asked her soon feeling her lips on my forehead.
Though she can forgive me so easily, it's really so difficult for me to forgive myself.
"What are you talking Riya beta?" She dragged me inside carrying the same beautiful smile.
"You didn't do anything wrong." She made me sit on the couch and said gently pressing my hand.
"I didn't...I didn't..." I swallowed the sob and looked at Ayush.
"You chose your dad, your uncle instead of me. I am so proud of my granddaughter."
"You proved daughter is the real pride of a father." She said proudly.
I smiled at her words wiping my tears.
She pinched my cheek and Ayush laughed at us with surprise.
For a second I became a kid, I slept in her lap with a smile and she kept caressing my hair.
"How are you now? I learned what happened with Arjun" She spoke slowly.
"Fine." I tried to smile a bit turning my head to her.
"You are a brave girl, you have faced much more than this." She reminded.
I simply nodded my head getting up from her lap.
I never thought she will forgive me.
I turned down her wish exactly four years ago. She wanted me to take over all the businesses but I chose Arjun, his love.
I took my uncle's side and stayed with them, when she needed me the most.
She was hurt and stopped talking to me for a while.
Later we could solve our misunderstanding by god's grace.
Ah! I hate myself now for hurting everyone around me.
"I am tired, I want to take rest, I am practically 75," She said holding my hands.
I nodded in agreement and Ayush threw a fervent stare.
"Think about Granny once, "Ayush spoke a bit seriously.
I heaved a sigh and looked at him with a very pale face.
"How much time will you escape?"
"It's your responsibility." He said raising his tone a bit.
Granny blinked his eyes at Ayush asking him to keep quiet.
"It's your dad's dream, If not you who will achieve it?"
"Your parents died when you are so young, you didn't share many memories with them, unfortunately."
"It's so sad that you don't know many things about them."
"They worked for people selflessly, they worked for society, and being there child it's your responsibility to keep their dreams alive."
"Don't brood over past, go and achieve them, let them feel proud of their child." She finished her emotional monologue and looked into my eyes.
I didn't say anything as I ran out of words.
I am a failure, I never ever thought about my biological parents.
I completely forget them, Dad never let me feel their absence.
The person whom I address dad is actually my uncle, I am his sister's daughter.
Granny is my grandmother, my dad's mother, the only blood relation I have from my father's side.
She runs all the firms like a queen.
Indeed she is a queen.
The real Iron lady.
No one imagined she would keep up all the business established by great-grandpa after losing both grandpa and dad.
She was too busy with work and I was taken by my uncle to his house as he felt my grandma is not giving quality time for me.
But I don't blame her, she has some responsibilities truth us not everyone can run such a huge business empire.
But what I don't like is she always insists I join the firm and lead the business
I never showed interest practically.
She was strict and I never lived up to her expectations in any field.
I was an average student and a confused soul where she is a visionary who knows what exactly she wants in her life.
We both two exact opposite poles.
Still, at the end of the day, I am her granddaughter and she is my granny.
We share a good bond yet we are different, so different to live under the same roof.
"What are you thinking?" Granny shook my shoulder stopping my series of thoughts.
"Are you thinking about your uncle?"She asked suspiciously and I shook my head keeping a sad face.
"Means your dad?"She corrected.
"I will talk to him, Don't worry."
"I know you are working for the cafe and I appreciate it."
"Instead of confining you to home, he let you do something." She said a bit hesitantly.
I didn't say anything.
What she said is true sometimes truth sounds so bitter.
"I have prepared your favorite sandwiches, I will bring them."She excused herself and walked into the kitchen.
"She hasn't changed," I said looking at Ayush.
"You neither," He said looking away.
I smiled at the bit and placed my hand on his gently.
He turned his head and looked into my eyes.
"Look at her, she is struggling."
"You are the only heir she has and here you took your dad's side turning down your responsibility."
"You stood with them for that family and what did they do in return."
"They want you to get married to Peeyush."
"I don't know what I would have done if your loving father doesn't offer your hand even after knowing the damn truth." He said gritting his teeth.
For a second I got scared of him.
Till the last moment, he was fine, he talked like a gentleman with my father and now he is talking some rubbish about him.
What happens to this guy, he is so unpredictable sometimes.
Maybe he is so possessive and obsessive about me. This is his weakness which scares me to death.
Don't know why? I am feeling so tired.
"And I am telling you again, don't run away from your responsibility."
"I know you adore your uncle and aunt as your parents but it doesn't mean that you have to forget your parents and their dreams completely."
"They established an NGO and you can't imagine the number of lives it saved."He stopped soon he saw granny coming to us with a plate of sandwiches.
"Sandwiches for my child." She placed the tray in front of her and severed them to us both.
I took a bite into my mouth and kept thinking about my life.
What to do now?
I am thinking...
