Rahul was able to hear some murmuring. He was able to feel someone was caressing his hair.. He was not able to believe that anyone can do something like this too. He could feel that he was leaning towards the touch. His head was feeling heavy and aching. His eyelids were feeling ever so heavy. The shivering in his body has gone.. He felt relief washed over it because of that.

His eyelids were feeling very much heavy as he has to put efforts to open his eyes. He slowly opened them.. He saw a lavish room with a proper furniture.. the coloring of walls are the way he likes instead of the gloomy room he used to stay throughout his life.. the lighting was perfect.. he frowned..

Virushka saw him woken up and was looking at nothing in particular.

Virat caressed his hair.

Virat (softly): Rah..

Rahul looked at him and that's when the things started getting registered. His eyes widened. He was about to get up but Virat and Anu both stopped him by keeping their hands over his shoulder.. Though he flinched as soon as they touched and closed his eyes tightly getting scared..

Rahul: No... No.. main.. maine kuchh nahi kiya..

Virat (softly yet loud enough): Rah.. Rah we know.. we know tumne kuchh nahi kiya.. tumhe iss liye roka kyuki yaha hath me drip attached hai.. tumhe pain hoga bachcha..

Rahul stopped his blabbering instantly hearing what he said. He looked at his right hand which was having a drip attached. He gulped down but his breathing was heavier as he panicked. Virushka were rubbing his shoulder and arm to calm him.

Virat: Calm down bachcha.. you are safe here.. koi kuchh nahi karega okay.. calm down..

Virat tried to coax him and it really worked as Rahul started calming down. Virat gently helped him in getting up and sit on the bed with the support of the headrest. Virat was just looking at him as he didn't know why he said what he said. Rahul rubbed his forehead with his free hand.

Anu (softly): Rah.. fever ki wajah se headache hoga. Tum thoda khana kha lo phir medicine leke rest karna

Rahul: Okay..

Rahul was about to move but once again Virushka stopped him.

Anu: Rah drip attached hai.. abhi tum kaha chal diye?

Rahul: Khana khane

Anu: Woh yahi khana hai. Main leke aati hoon tumhare liye

Saying so she went from there before Rahul could stop her.

Rahul: Inhone kyu takleef li lene Jane ki.. main khud le aata na drip ke khatam hone ke baad..

Virat: Rah.. She is a doctor.. Hum dono se zyada usko pata hai ki kab kya karna chahiye. Let her do her job.. Now first tell me.. do you wanna get freshen up? Washroom use karna hai?

Rahul shook his head in no looking down. He was feeling quite embarrassed.

Virat (softly): Rah agar washroom Jana hai to koi baat nahi. There is nothing to get embarassed okay

Anu came there with Khichdi.

Virat: Nushkie.. yeh detach kar do. Isko washroom Jana hai

Anu: Haan ek minute.. Yeh bas finish hi ho rahi hai bottle.

Aa soon as the bottle was finished, she detached the drip from his hand. Rahul hissed slightly..

Anu: Sorry bachcha..

Rahul was getting touched by the constant warmth Virushka were offering and with them constantly calling him "Bachcha"..

Virat (softly): Rah.. beta chalo.. washroom Jana hai na aapko.. let me take you till washroom

Virat caressed his hair and helped Rahul in getting up from the bed and he took him to washroom. Rahul went inside and freshen up. As soon as he came out, Virat again helped him in going to bed and making him sit in half laying position.

Anu forwarded a spoonful of Khichdi..

Anu: Ab yeh Khao..

Rahul looked at khichdi then at her..

Anu: Are aise kya dekh rahe ho? Khao chalo..

Rahul: Main.. main kha lunga..

Virat: Tum thak jaoge.. weakness aa gayi hai kafi aur fever abhi bhi hai. So no more discussion. Nushkie you continue..

Anu: Chalo muh kholo..

Rahul opened his mouth and Anu fed him. He was getting emotional and he hold the blanket tightly. Virushka saw it.

Virat: Kya hua Rah? Thand lag rahi hai?

Rahul shook his head in no.

Rahul: Bas ab nahi khana..

Anu: Are lekin abhi half hi khaya na..

Rahul: Bas..

Virat took the plate from Anu.

Virat: Achchha chalo yeh batao.. ki tumhe yeh khichdi kaisi lagi?

He forwarded a spoonful towards his mouth.

Rahul: Bahut achchhi hai..

Virat: To tumhe thoda aur khana chahiye na.. Takat aayegi.. takat ayegi to tum cricket kheloge na. Chalo muh kholo..

He coaxed him to have some more but then once again Rahul denied but they were happy that he has actually completed 90% food from the plate. Anu forwarded him his medicines and he took them without any tantrums. Anu caressed his hair.

Anu: Ab so jao.. Thakan lag rahi hai na?

Rahul nodded in yes. But before he could lay down, the sound of lightening heard.. Rahul flinched whimpering.. Virat instantly took him in a hug rubbing his back.

Virat: Kuchh nahi hai.. kuchh nahi hai.. calm down..

Rahul's breathing was uneven and before he could calm himself once again the lightening sound heard and it only worsen the situation. Rahul was breathing heavily out of fear.. Anu was observing him whereas Virat was trying to calm him down.

Virat: Rah.. bachcha calm down baba.. Dekho main hoon na kuchh nahi hoga.. Calm down bachcha..

Virat made the hug tighter but Rahul was gasping for breath. He was signing something but was not able to do properly. Anu's eyes widened as she realised what he needed.

Anu: Rah.. where is it? Kidhar rakha hai?

Rahul pointed towards his bag. Anu quickly got up and almost ran towards his bag but her leg got stumbled into bed and she got hurt..

Virat: Nushkie..

Anu: I am fine..

She was limping but she reached to his bag and fidgeted with his stuffs. She checked his medicine box and finally found it.. The Inhaler..

Anu came back as fast as she could while limping and was about to make Rahul have a puff when her gaze fell on the tag of expiration. It was expired and she quickly took it back before he could take a puff. Her heart skipped a beat thinking what would have happened if he has taken the puff.

Virat: Kya hua?

Anu: Expired hai

She again got up and limping went outside. The rest all saw her and got worried for her. She was limping.

Sakshi: Anu kya hua?

Anu: Woh in.. inhaler..

Mahi: Inhaler kis liye Anu?

Anu: Rah..

Nupur: Anu Tum ruko main leke aati hoon mujhe pata hai kaha rakha hai

She has helped her in setting things and thus she knew where it was kept in medical room. She quickly came back with inhaler and gave it to Anu. She again limping ran inside the room followed by others. She quickly took out the inhaler and shook it.

Virat: Nushkie jaldi.. iski.. iski aankhe bandh ho rahi hai

Virat said while patting Rahul's cheeks to make him keep his eyes open.

Anu made Rahul have two puffs at first. She caressed his hair.

Anu: Calm down bachcha.. calm down..

After a minute, she again made Rahul have a puff and he took it. And finally his breathing was much normal. The panic in the room started coming down.

Virat (softly): Rah.. take rest bachcha.. sleep..

He made him lay down on the bed and caressed his hair. Rahul was way too much exhausted by now that he instantly fell asleep.

It was 11 in the night when Rahul's sleep broke as he was able to hear someone talking in low voice. He was still under the influence of the meds. He was not fully awake but he was able to listen.. He couldn't help but concentrate on the voice and he started recognising and got that it was not someone but they were Mahi Bhai and Sakshi bhabhi and they were talking to Virushka..

Mahi: Cheeku.. bachcha thoda to kha lo

Virat: Bhai bilkul man nahi kar raha. Rah ko abhi bhi fever hai.

Sakshi: Anu.. bachcha thoda sa kha lo.

Anu: No bhabhi..

Her voice was trembling. The pain and fear were evident in her voice.

Rahul forced his eyelids to open and he could see Virushka and MahiAkshi were sitting on the couch there.

Mahi: Anu.. beta Rah is fine okay.. he is better

Virat (scared): Agar Nushkie ko thoda aur time lag jata to? Oh god.. Bhai he is a kid..

Sakshi: Cheeks.. he is a kid who needs to be taken care of. Agar tum dono apna dhyan nahi rakhoge to uska kaise rakhoge?

Anu: Lekin..

Sakshi: Thoda sa kha lo okay..

Mahi and Sakshi coaxed Virushka for eating and they had some. It was getting difficult for Rahul to keep his eyes open but Rahul felt overwhelmed.. someone was taking care of him.. someone was worried for him.. tears fell from his eyes without him realising that. But before he could say anything, he again fell asleep..

On the next day when Rahul woke up, he was feeling way too much better not because of his fever was gone but because he felt he too can be loved. He was happy from inside. A small yet content smile was there on his face.. He got up and sat on the bed but his smile instantly vanished as he found himself all alone in the room.

Rahul took few moments to realise he was expecting too much from his fate.. He again felt dejected and the burden which has lifted yesterday night has again shifted back on his heart.. and this time it felt more heavier..

He slowly got up and went to washroom and got freshen up. He came back after freshening up wearing his Full sleeve T-shirt and track.. He then took out his Half sleeve T-shirt and wore it. He then took out his glasses and wore them. He didn't wear it yesterday due to rain..

He went to bed and sat there feeling tired. He was thinking of going out of the room when his room's door opened slowly and Virushka came inside with his breakfast.

Anu: Good morning Rah

Virat: Good morning Rah.. how are you feeling now? Weakness hogi na.. hum jab gaye you were sleeping to socha freshen up hoke aaye..

Anu: Vi.. tumhe yahi rukna chahiye tha.. Iski neend ho jati sahi se.. Jaise tum gaye yeh bhi uth gaya dekho. Ready hoke baitha hai

Rahul was just looking at the duo.

Virat: Rah.. main ek baar fever check kar loon?

Rahul found himself nodding in yes. Virat checked his fever which was not there and he and Anu sighed in relief. Anu ruffled his hair.

Anu: I am so happy..

She chuckled. Rahul couldn't help but smiled a little at her.

Virat: It's breakfast time.. chalo muh kholo..

Virat forwarded a spoonful of poha towards him.

Rahul: Main kha lunga.. aap kyu takleef le rahe ho?

Virat: Are isme takleef kaisi? Chalo ab muh kholo..

Rahul opened his mouth and Virat fed him poha. He continued feeding him while Anu was adoring them and Rahul was just looking at him.

Rahul: Aap.. aap logo ne breakfast Kiya?

Anu: Haan humne kar liya iss liye thoda time lag gaya aane me yaha

Rahul: Main kha lunga sach me.

Anu: Tum Vi ko apna kam karne do..

Rahul kept mum.. Once the breakfast was done, Anu forwarded him his meds and he took it without any tantrums and it was seriously surprising for Virat but he didn't say anything.

Rahul was drinking water and saw Virushka were signing something to each other.

Rahul: Kya hua?

Virat sighed.

Virat: Rah.. actually yesterday you were mumbling something in sleep..

Rahul looked down getting teared up and they even started falling from his eyes. Anu was rubbing his back.

Anu: We couldn't understand what it was..

Virat: And we are not gonna ask you anything about it until you yourself feel comfortable to share it.

Rahul looked at him. Virat gently wiped his tears.

Virat: Rah.. We are here and you are safe here okay. Don't think about anything.

Anu: Haan Rah.. just stay calm. Don't stress bachcha..

Virat: Abhi rest karo okay

They both made him lay down on the bed and stayed with him caressing his hair until he fell asleep. During lunch time, all were having lunch together in Rahul's room and were trying to make him talk to them but he was way too much silent. Virushka again made him have his meds after lunch and made him sleep. The boy was very weak because of the fever and the attack. And he was clearly scared with so many things.

It was evening when Rahul woke up and found Virushka were still beside him at either side. He got up and sat on the bed though Virushka both helped him. There was a silence for a while. None said anything. Finally Rahul broke it.

Rahul: Why are you doing this?

Virat (confused): Kya?

Rahul: Yeh.. yeh sab... Meri itni parwaah karna.. itna dhyan rakhna.. why?

Virat: And why not?

Rahul: Because.. umm.. because..

Virat (with raised eyebrows): Because?

Rahul looked at Anu who too was looking at him with raised eyebrows.

Rahul (in low voice): Because I am stranger.. You.. you don't know me.. I can be thief

Virat: That you are.. You are thief

Rahul snapped his head towards him

Anu: And you know what you stole?

Rahul: I didn't..

Anu: Well You have..

Rahul: I didn't..

Virat: You have Rah.. You have stolen..

Rahul: Kya? Kya steal kiya?

Virushka: Our Hearts

Tears instantly fell from Rahul's eyes. Virushka wiped them.

Anu: We understand you have some very bad past experiences because of which you are having so many issues.. you have unhealed scars.. We understand you need your time and space to get comfortable

Virat: And we are ready to give you that okay kiddo.. As long as you are with me, you don't need to get scared of anything.. And I mean it.. You are my baby brother.. my kiddo.. And my kiddo doesn't get scared of anything and anyone except me and his bhabhi of course...

Virushka chuckled.

Rahul (in low voice): Thank you.. Thank you so much Bhaiya Bhabhi..

Virushka were surprised hearing this.. Virat was more surprised and overwhelmed hearing this..

Virat: Kya.. kya kaha?

Rahul: Thank you so much Bhaiya Bhabhi..

Virushka both hugged him tightly from either side. Rahul though at first stiffened but then he melted in their hug.. He felt protected.. secured.. He felt these two are HIS PEOPLE.. He felt that he can trust them.. He felt that he belonged to them and they belonged to him.. And for the first time.. He felt accepted as a family member.. He felt loved as a family member.. He felt that he too has a family.. His Bhaiya Bhabhi .. His Family..
