Chapter : 2

Nia's POV:

I thought today will be a good day but here everything was opposite. I mean, I'm just asking all the girls to stay away from Ritik, is it too much to ask for?

Here I can't even blame just girls when this idiot Ritik was not opposing any one of them. When Shriya hugged him, he immediately hugged her back as if his parents were not present here. He could have stopped her but no!

'But he never stopped you as well' my conscience mocked me. It was right because Ritik actually never stopped me. Maybe, he doesn't considers it a big thing. One more reason for me to get sad.

"Is she shriya?" Aashika asked. I nodded unwillingly and saw her telling something to Aashna aunty. She didn't looked impressed, not even a little bit, which was the only thing that made me happy. I'm glad aunty didn't like her!

"Dad." Kiara whined again. Kiara is the daughter of Abhi uncle and Sanjana aunty. Though she is younger than me, we both shared a great bond in past but then things changed. Now we are like known strangers, even though we come face to face every now and then because of our frequent family meets, we prefer to stay away. Today, I don't know what was wrong with her but since she came here, she was whining continuously.

"Give me a proper reason and I promise, if I find it valid. I will do your work." Abhi uncle assured her.

"Fine. We will talk after the game." She said and got up to leave. Isn't she going to be here for the match?

"Aren't you going to watch it?" Aarav uncle asked as he saw her leaving. This is the second most thing I'm jealous about. I know Aarav uncle will never discriminate between us but I always feel like Kiara is his favourite one.

"What to watch? I know Richie rich is going to win it." She said and turned to leave but again stopped and looked at us. Richie rich? Since when she gave Ritik's nick name back to him? As far as I know, they both are not on talking terms, then when did this happen?

"I mean, his team, our college is going to win it. And uncle, I'm coming back. I would never miss the chance to watch this game with you and your commentary." Kiara said and went from there, whereas I started cursing my day. Every single thing was happening the opposite of what I thought.

Soon the game started and everyone started cheering for their favourites. Everyone thought that the game will be one-sided and our college will win it easily but again, the thing was totally opposite. It was almost going equal. We made a goal, they made a goal.

"Can't he stay out of fights?" Aashna aunty said annoyingly as we saw Ritik have a squabble. It was not Ritik's fault, the opponents were encouraging him to fight and Ritik was supposed to control his anger but then I can't complain because he always fails in this thing. Lucky enough he had Viraj with him, who was controlling him from time to time. The first half continued with this squabbles and by the end of first half the scores were equal.

I looked at Ritik and saw him standing in front of his coach. The coach was saying something but I hardly think he was listening to him, he looked angry, very very angry and with anger there was also a bit of tension visible on his face.

"Is he nervous?" I heard Aashika ask to Aarav uncle. No, he knows he wants to win this game and he will do it for sure.

"I don't think so. He is angry but definitely not nervous. My son knows how to get what he want." Uncle answered proudly.

Looking at Ritik I remembered how I always dreamt of someone who will be able to handle situations in much calmer ways. This short tempered boys were never my thing, yet I fell for someone who turns into a beast when angry. It maybe a unpopular opinion but though the short tempered boys looks hot, the calmer one,'s are best.

"He is so cute." I heard the girl sitting beside me squeal again. Damn! Since the time she sat here, she was continuously admiring the captain of opponent team. I ignored it in the start but her constant admiration towards him made me to stop and look for that captain. I was able to find him immediately and I even remembered where I saw him earlier.

"He is so calm in handling the situations, isn't he?" The girl asked her friend and though the question was not of my concern, I had the answer to it. 'Yes, he is!'

"Kiara, do you think we will win?" Aarav Uncle asked.

"Surely." She replied.

"What about you Nia?" He asked me.

"We will win, definitely." I replied and saw a smile formed on his face.

"I guess, even shriya thinks the same. Look she is talking  with Ritik." Aashika said and so I immediately looked at him and saw Shriya gesturing something. Man, please stay away, I will die of jealousy now.

During the second half of the game, the match seemed very interesting. Everyone was in action, also there were no fights or arguments this time as all of them were sincerely concentrated on their game.

The time was about to finish and the scores were equal, I looked around and found everyone tensed just like I was. I wanted Ritik to win and so I was praying silently. The match was so tough that it almost felt like my heart was in my throat. Ritik was tensed and it was very much visible by his looks and all the frustration he was taking on his co-players for every wrong move they made. Everything was a mess until Ritik passed the ball to his other player and the goal was made. Yess! We were on lead but still there was one minute left and everyone was still so worried as the ball was with the other team.

"I'm so tensed."

I looked aside and saw that it was Kiara who said that.

"Me too." Aashika replied with her eyes glued on the ground. I looked at the timer. 43 seconds! With every second that passed, my heartbeat was going on raising. Please god, please!

"We won." Everyone screamed at once when the timer stopped. I looked at Ritik and found him so so happy. His face was glowing and the proud smile was not at a leaving his face. What a cutie!

"I'm so proud of my son." Aarav uncle said.

"I know, I know. Congratulations to you too." Kiara said giving him a fist bump. She did the same to my dad and turn turned towards her dad, Abhi uncle.

"Don't go. I will meet you soon." She said and went away from there. I looked at my side and saw those two girls almost crying. I looked at the ground to search for captain of opponent team, yeah he looked sad but still there was a smile on his face and he was willing congratulating everyone. This man surely has sportsmanship.

"Aren't you happy?" Aarav uncle asked looking at Aashna aunty. She glanced at him and then back at the field.

"Of course I'm happy that my son won but just look at him." She said which made everyone of us to look at him. I searched for him and when I finally got to see him, I felt like going and smacking his head. This crushes thing is very bad, you feel like you guys are together and start getting possessive. Sometimes I wonder if I'm allowed to feel all this jealousy. Shriya was hugging him like there was no tomorrow. She broke the hug, told him something and then hugged again. Leave him girl, let others congratulate him!

After a little more talk she went to congratulate other players. Ritik turned and looked at the direction where we were sitting. Once he spotted us, he waved at us and mouthed 'I love you' looking at his mom and dad.

Soon both the teams went back to the dressing room and got ready for the award ceremony. Ritik got the award for best goal whereas 'man of the match' award was presented to the captain of the other team, I don't know why but I was happy for the two girls sitting beside me because this was the only time when they stopped crying.

After the award ceremony was done, Ritik came running towards us.

"How was my performance?" He asked me as I was the first person there.

"Too good. Congratulations." I said extending my hand for a handshake. He looked at me little strangely but soon composed himself and said thanks. He went further and met everyone. A strange look! That's all I got.

"Let's go." Aashika said and took me out with her.

"Wait for me." Ritik said once he saw us leaving.

"Are you sad?" Aashika asked once we were outside.

"No." I replied.

"Ok. I don't think she is his girlfriend, you don't worry." She assured. Oh, so she is talking about Shriya. I already know she is not his girlfriend but I was sad because, despite of the frequent signals Ritik is refusing to understand what I feel for him.

"Are you ok?" Ritik asked as he came and stood beside. I was sitting on his bike but once I saw him, I got down of it.

"Please sit." He said and made me sit there again.

"Now back to my question, is everything ok?" He asked again.

"Yes, everything is fine." I replied.

"You are lying Nia. Tell me what happened?" He asked sincerely and my heart melted here.

"I'm fine, I swear." I assured giving him a small smile.

"Mom saw you with Shriya." Aashika informed him.

"I know. Viraj told me about it. What did she say?" He asked.

"Nothing much but she was pretty much upset." She replied.

"This is all because of you. I'm sure you are the one who told her about this."

"So what? Everyone knows she is your girlfriend." Aashika said and I felt my heart being stabbed again.

"Shut up. She is not my girlfriend. Please trust me." He said almost pleading her.

"Then why was she hugging you?"

"That was a friendly hug."

"Ok ok. I got it." She replied and glanced at me to tell that, Shriya is not his girlfriend and I shouldn't be worried about it. Such a sweetheart she is!

"Hey Ritik." A voice called. We all turned to look at the person and saw the captain of other team coming towards us.

"Congrats man, You played well." He complimented.

"Thanks dude. It was a good game!" Ritik replied.

"Whatever happened that was restricted to the field. No bad blood outside it. I'm sorry, if my team went a little far than expected." He said further obviously referring to all those drama that was happening on the field.

"Don't be sorry. It was not your fault." Ritik replied. I then saw that captain of other team looking at me, I don't know what was it about his gaze but once our eyes met, I was not able to look at him for more than two seconds.

"He looks good, right?" Aashika asked. Her question immediately made me look at him again but this time when our eyes met, he looked away. I saw him ask something in gesture and I don't know why but I felt like he was talking about me.

"No." Was all Ritik replied with a chuckle.

"Alright. All the best for your next games." The captain said and with that both of them went for a handshake and then he went away.

"What is his name?" Aashika asked.

"Why do you want to know?" Ritik asked back.

"He is cute." She replied and as soon as the words left her mouth, Ritik slapped her arm.

"Stop." He warned her with very serious expression on his face. I know he cares about his sister but sometimes I find it very annoying. I mean everyone has right to love, its common if Aashika develops a crush on someone...we can't stop her.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you." He said pulling her cheeks and finally made her laugh again.

"Why are you so lost today?" Ritik asked. You are the reason.

"Nothing." I replied. Soon our parents came and started chit-chatting about the game and other things. I patiently waited for them to finish and once they were done, we decided to leave.

"I will go and bring the car." I said as I took the keys from dad and went towards the parking. I was peacefully walking ahead until I heard my phone ring. It was from my bestfriend Arpita, so without wasting a second I received it.

Basically she was telling me why she doesn't believes in horoscope. Her today's horoscope said something good will happen today but instead of good, she and her boyfriend broke up.

"Girl, then it actually good. Imagine being free from a toxic boyfriend." I teased.

"Shut up. He is not toxic. This horoscopes are not real."

"Whatever makes you happy but I do believe in horoscopes and...." I was not able to complete my sentence because I tripped over something and felt like I was going to fall now.

Why god why?

"You are safe." I heard someone say. Yeah actually, I mean I didn't fell neither its paining anywhere.

I slowly opened my eyes and met a similar pair of black orbs looking at me. The captain of opponent team! What is his name, I'm tired of calling him 'captain of opponent team'

"Thank you." I said as I got out of his hold and stood straight. Thank god he caught me, otherwise I would have surely landed on ground.

"Thanks again. If you wouldn't have caught me, I might have embarrassed myself in front of everyone." I giggled.

"It's alright." Was all he replied. I have never been nervous while talking with anyone but here I felt completely different. I was not even able to look at him.

"What's your name?" I asked in order to ease the nervousness and immediately felt so stupid. Who asks introduction to someone you just met?

"I mean, I saw you as the captain of opponent team....so...." I explained, hoping that he will understand what I was trying to say.

"Akshay, Akshay Rajadhyaksha." He said extending his hand.

"Nia Roy. Thank you once again for saving and you guys played well." I replied. He thanked me and then I decided to leave.

"You believe in horoscopes?" He asked. Why this question? Did he heard my conversation?

"Yeah."

"Same here. Today it said, something good will happen and it did!" He stated with a proud nod, bid goodbye and went from there.

Good happened? But he lost the match. Crazy guy.

Leaving all the thoughts aside, I went ahead but stopped immediately when I remembered my horoscope for the day.

'it's ok to be a little clumsy today, who knows your Mr Perfect might catch you?'

I immediately turned around and saw Akshay getting inside a car. I don't know why but the rapid hammering of my heart against my chest felt like it will pop out now.

No this can't be true, I don't believe in horoscopes.

Thank you.
