i finished putting on my shoes and grabbed my phone to text gabby back. we have a game today and i can feel the excitement through my body.

i put my phone down and i ran out onto the court because they game was about to start. we huddle up and afterwards i walked onto the court.

TIME SKIP🫶🏾.

it's currently 2nd quarter & we're down 54-52. i ran down court and guarded lexi she passed it to caitlin who shot a 3 & missed so brittany grabbed the rebound and passed it too tasha.

she dribbled down court and passed it to sophie who shot a jumper and it bounced of the back board so aaliyah and i both jumped up to get it and she pulled me down.

i fell onto my back and hard and i could feel the instant pain shoot through my backbone. i rolled over in pain and my teammates came over.

"can you sit up ?" tasha asked and i tried and the pain came back. i was getting worried cus if i can't get up what this mean ???

our trainers came out and they had to pick me up. i heard everyone clap and we went to the locker room.

"okay guys let's go get this win for kahleah" tasha yelled making me smile. my back hurt and my eyes were filled with tears but that really did lighten my mood.

"we're gonna lay you on your stomach so we can check your back" he said and i nodded. slight touches to my back bone hurted.

"how bad is it ? is it just sore ?" i asked with hope.

"yeah no, you need to get this checked out" he said making me sigh in disappointment. why now bro. why me ?? i can't win for losing dude.

they grabbed my stuff and we headed to the hospital so they could get x-rays & run some tests. he handed me my phone and i saw that i had a lot of messages.

i texted my other friends back and then got on tiktok to run down some time. a few hours later my team came in.

"heyy how you feeling ?" tasha asked.

"okay i guess.. they gave me pain medicine so it's not hurting right now" i said.

"it's been 3 hours wtf is taking so long ?" diana asked.

"h*ll if i know" i said.

a few minutes later they came in and told me that i fractured my back bone and they are putting me on bed rest for 3 weeks and then we will have a follow up.

"great exactly what i wanted right before playoff time" i sighed.

"hey don't be too hard on yourself, it's aaliyah big ahh fault" natasha said.

"girl shut up" tasha said laughing.

i texted the gc & gave them the news.

i hearted the messages and gabby ft me. im honestly so excited to hear her voice today has been the absolute worst and i still haven't told her i fractured my back.

after tonight's game i honestly just been worried about leah. she had to go to the hospital and she hasn't let me know what's wrong yet so i called.

"hey my love" i said.

"hey" she said forcing a smile onto her face.

"soo ??"

"ohh um the doctors came in about 10 minutes ago with my results" she said.

"and what they say ?? please tell me it's just sore" i said with hope.

"i fractured my back bone" she said making me gasp.

"d*** baby. i'm so sorry love. ik it's not what you wanted but it's all Gods plan" i said.

"this some bs fr. i put in work time and time again just for me to not even get to be in playoffs. ts is discouraging asf bro" she said through her tears.

"aww stop, don't cry mama" i cooed to her. i could see the tears roll down her face.

the nurse came in and gave me sleeping pills to help put her to sleep.

"you okay ?" i asked.

"yes wyd pretty ?" she asked.

"nothing chillin. im proud of you tho my love ik it's hard but you gone get through this. yk im here" i said.

"thank you ma. all my faith in God and ik that's it's okay too get frustrated" she said making me smile.

"yes ma'am. i love you" i said as i could hear her voice start to deep letting me know she was sleepy.

"i love you more" she smiled.

"gts baby. imma be here when you wake up" i said.

today has been one of the hardest for kahleah. and me too tbh cus i hate seeing my baby like that & i can't imagine the pain she's in.

i just hope she knows she still strong & still that girl period. she a beast and gone come back stronger than ever! i wish i could hold her rn.
