Five

"Wake up Hanna." Myra's voice sounds from the kitchen, waking me up from my slumber. My head still hurts from last night's hangover and I groan in bed, like a child.

I close my eyes again and drift to a peaceful five-more-minutes sleep when the door flies open and Myra rushes to the window, letting daylight blind my eyes.

"It's only eight thirty." I moan in defeat, my voice muffled with my pillow.

"Come on, lazy ass. We've got a busy day ahead of us."

That was enough to peak my curiosity.I stretch and yawn then quickly remove the pillow.

"How is that?"

"Brad's got something to do so it's our chance to go shopping." My face begins to sweat as soon as she finishes talking. I have never needed financial support from anyone before and I'm not planning on it. Instead of talking for myself, I get tongue-twisted and no sound leaves my mouth.

Way to go Aidan.

"It's on me." She continues, taking advantage of my silence. She isn't just casually offering to pay for all my new clothes, isn't she?

"No way. It'll be too much."

"Come on Hanna, let's go have some fun, what do we have to do all day? Besides, you're slightly skinnier than me, so my clothes wouldn't fit you." She pleads me with her charming dark brown eyes and I had to finally agree with her. I do need clothes. Hell, I can't wear her bras and all that stuff. It's already awkward thinking about it.

"On one condition." She rolls her eyes on me, knowing what I'm about to say. "You pay for me now, but I give you back your money when I get a job. There's no other way I'm accepting this." I cross my arms in front of me, putting my full-on serious mode.

Myra is the type of friends who would do anything for a friend, even if it means putting you before herself. I remember how she used to help me sneak out of my parents' house and we would have a sleepover at her's, without my parents noticing. Even when she got together with Brad, she would sometimes insist on me going out with them, if I was over at her house. She's simply a keeper.

"Fiiiine, you bullhead." The annoyed look on her face doesn't last long, as she drags me to her bedroom to chose my outfit for the day. I go with a simple mom jeans and a pinky gold shirt, which is ripped at the shoulders, along with a pair of golden sandals and she wears a baby blue shirt, some navy shorts and comfy flip-flops because 'why not' as she said.

I slept with my hair wet last night because I was exhausted so today I'm left with big loose curls while Myra has hers straightened and then curled because she believes we look like twins when we have both our brown hairs curly.

After having some scrambled eggs and banana pancakes, we head to town on a taxi because Brad took their car. As soon as we arrive, Myra pulls me by the hand at the first polka dot dress that she sees.

I didn't feel very comfortable because I hated the idea that someone is spending money on me and it reminds me of a certain someone I fucking need to get out of my system. Yet, Myra acted like she didn't feel my uneasiness and bought some clothes for her as well, to make me feel better about the whole thing. Basically, all I did was hold the bags when we entered a new shop or go to the dressing room when she found some interesting articles. She also made me wear one of the knee length dresses, its material is so soft that I want to live in it, its beige creamed color and the golden stickers on it add half its beauty. I didn't feel the need to change my matching sandals and after a few tickles and playful punches, she let me keep them on. She also changes to a tight dark jeans and a red crop top, complimenting her slender figure.

I usually love shopping but today's shopping went overboard. Myra got excited at almost every piece and I had to oblige because she's my crazy best friend and I have to keep up with her bullshit.

"So where do you want to have lunch?" She says after she finally heard my stomach growl.

"Hmm, how about McDonald's? I've been craving a double cheese hamburger. Basically some junk food." We're on our way away from the shops to find a taxi.

"I get you. I feel the same. Brad is pestering me about cooking more. He says we have to stay healthy, "eat healthy, live healthy"." she quotes with her fingers with an eye roll.

Brad is four years older than Myra. He sees her as his 'baby' and that it's his duty to take care of her. And since he got this job at the gym, he wouldn't shut up about healthy eating and all that shit, Myra tells me.

"His job has its perks thought." She spaces out for a second.

"Oh yeah? What is that?"

"You don't get to wake up to a six pack everyday now do you?" We crack at the same time when suddenly, her phone rings.

She picks up the phone and doesn't say a word, gesturing for me to play along, with silent giggles.

"Hello? I know you're in there." I hear Brad laughing, when I bring my ear next to the phone. Myra has always been playful, sometimes a little too much in serious situations which drives Brad nuts.

"Damn it! I will get you someday." he only chuckles to that and asks her what we are up to now. I then give her some privacy and tilt my head to admire my new dress.

"We just finished shopping and about to go have lunch." she stops dead in her tracks after saying that, waiting for him to lecture her about eating unhealthy food. Then her facial expression lit up almost instantly at what he said next.

"Alright, love you too. See you in a bit." She hungs up after telling him to meet up at McDonald's and looks at me with an evil smirk on her face.

"What is it?" it nearly came out as fragile and shaky than I wanted it to be.

"He's joining us for lunch. WE'RE HAVING JUNK FOOD." She squeals loudly into my ear and I protect my eardrum with the bag in my hand.

"Oh, he's also bringing a friend with him." she casually says and hooks our arms together, nudging me to walk side by side to McDonald's, since it's not that far.

"And why did you leave this information till the end?"

"Oh, I forgot to tell you, it's his friend's birthday today." She slips her sunglasses on her eyes and I can see a smirk plastered on her lip.

"Should we get him a present then?" I say, still trying to figure out the reason she has a smug expression on her face.

"No, it's fine..." She then mutters something under her breath and when I ask her to repeat, she brushes me off, tightening the grip around my arm instead and continuing to walk slowly to our destination.

"So, what about last night?" She asks out of nowhere. "What about Ethan?" She adds when I don't answer.

"What about him?" I didn't think of this topic since last night. I lower my eyes to the floor and continue walking that way, trusting my hooked arm in hers.

"You want to play? fine. I know what you did last night!" She blurts out, bearing a semi-serious look in her eyes, as she gazes at me with her brown eyes. They're not just any eyes. They're the type that is sweet and warm like hot chocolate on a rainy night, the soft warmness of them wraps around you like a blanket and makes you feel home. The wrinkles around her cinnamon dilated eyes reassure me that she isn't really serious and she's about to laugh. One. Two Three. She lets out a muffled laugh and I join in.

"I found him upstairs coughing and that is about it." I say after we have gathered enough attention from our hysterical laughing.

"Aaaand?" She prompts me to spill more.

"There's no 'and' Aria. I know what you have in mind. I know you want me to be happy and find the one but I'm not ready yet. I've always had this image in my head that someday, I would find the right person in the most ridiculously unexpected way and fall deeply in love and have a blissful life with him and my children. You know the path my life has drifted to and I can't risk my chance with a mere crush."

"Crush?" Fuck, I didn't realize I just said that. I certainly didn't intend it. But I was so into my thoughts that it just slipped.

"AWEEE, you do like him then!" My last attempt at covering my eardrum succeeded but this one failed. There's nothing calming Myra down when she's excited.

"No..." My cheeks turn into a cherry color and I hate it. "W-what are you talking about?"

"Green eyes, curly hair and a built body. I didn't know you're into that type of guys."

"Stop it, I don't like him..." I have a wide smile on my lips instead of the frown I'm supposed to have because of this conversation. And that's why I keep my eyes to the concrete.

"Well, we'll see about that." She says softly and unhooks her arm from me.

"What do you m-" As I look up, a certain Brad with a certain Ethan are walking towards us from the opposite side. What surprises me the most is the reciprocal startled look on Ethan's face.

When I stop dead in my tracks and look at Myra, she seems entertained and when I look at Ethan, he looks dashing.

Oh well!
