Six Months, No Change
The sound of her phone ringing at three in the morning was enough to make Loona nearly bash it against the wall. She was already hungover from her midnight drinking after a long workday at I.M.P., and sleep was hard enough to get as it was these days. Fuck it had been hard to get these past few months. Even though she was now living in Prince Stolas's mansion, instead of the crappy apartment she and Blitzo owned, the smooth and pristine beds did little to comfort her during the nights.
Groaning, Loona grabbed her phone from under her used panties on the floor. "Whoever the fuck this is," she yawned, "you better have a good reason for calling me, or else I'm going to find where you live and rip out your spine."
"Ms. Loona? This is Doctor Plaquius of St. Judas General Hospital."
Instantly, Loona's headache was replaced with alertness as she stood up on her bed with fear gripping her heart. "Is it my dad?! Is he okay?!"
"I'm afraid he's had another nightmare. Not as bad as some of his other...episodes, but this one was pretty bad. He kept screaming and woke up nearly all the patients on this floor. My nurses were hurt trying to get him to wake him up. We're trying to calm him down, but he refuses to leave the corner and is asking for you. If you could get here as quickly as possible..."
"I'll be there! Just tell him I'm on my way!" Loona said before hanging up the call. She cursed as she took some of her dirty clothes and started putting them on. She didn't give a damn if they were used or not. She could take a shower in the morning before work. "Goddamnit, Dad..."
Six fucking months since her father was kidnapped, tortured, raped, mind raped, and nearly died from the actions of a bunch of nobles who wanted Prince Stolas's book to destroy half of Hell's population. Six months trying to heal her father, who was broken in every possible way from physical to mental to emotional. Six months since her family life was forever scarred, and there was little that could be done to fix it.
Loona knew it was going to be hard to help her father. Even with all the effort of Moxxie, Millie, Octavia, Stolas, and others by her side, the hellhound knew it wasn't going to be easy. However, more and more, it seemed like a hopeless state for Blitzo as he kept having more nightmares, more cutting days, and even outright sobbing fits that sometimes led to a psychotic rage. Stolas had explained just how dangerous and effective a Nightmare Parasite was in breaking down the victim to the point where all they craved was death, but she was still not enough to prepare her for the hardship it would bring. The only upside in all this was that Blitzo hadn't tried to take his own life yet.
The keyword being "yet."
Once she was clothed, Loona rushed out of her room and made her way down the grand hallway. She cursed rich people having such big fucking homes before she finally arrived at Prince Stolas's Master Bedroom and slammed on it rapidly. A few minutes later, the yawning bird prince opened the door while dressed in his royal red night robes. "Uhhh, Loona? Do you know how late-"
"It's Dad," Loona said, which immediately perked Stolas up. "He had another nightmare and is requesting me. I need you to teleport me there."
Stolas blinked his eyes a few times before his expression turned serious. "Of course, right away."
The prince let her inside before summoning up a portal to the hospital. It almost was like a routine for them on a near-weekly basis. Ignoring the times that she, Stolas, and the others went over to see Blitzo in his recovery, he had at least three breakdowns a week. Sometimes it was just nightmares, and other times he had flashbacks to what he suffered from either in the cells or in those lucid nightmares the parasite had placed him under. And each time it happened, it just seemed to get worse and worse.
The two quickly walked through, where they soon appeared right in front of Blitzo's room with the door wide open. There were three nurses, all goat demons, inside with Doctor Plaquius in front of them. Entering fully, Loona felt her heart nearly slip through her chest in despair upon seeing her frightened father holding himself in the corner. It was still so surreal to see this even after seeing it multiple times. Before the event that ruined him, Blitzo had been so outright loud, cocky, and downright energetic with his eyes blazing like a fire. Now it was like seeing a whimpering mouse with such terror on their face he appeared to be one step away from a heart attack.
"D-Dad?" Loona whispered as she slowly walked forward, doing her best to fake a smile. "It's me, Dad."
"L-Loona..." Blitzo whispered as he slowly started to crawl towards his adopted daughter. Once he was close enough, Loona kelt down and embraced him while he soon started crying on his shoulders. "Loona...Oh, Loona...I had...I had a bad dream..."
"Shh, it's okay. You're not dreaming anymore..." Loona comforted her father like that of a newborn. It looked so wrong, but considering the state he was mentally and emotionally, it wasn't hard to picture him as a scared child.
"I saw them d-d-die...Tillie...Barbie Wire...my...my sweet sisters...my other half..." Blitzo whimpered as he sobbed even harder. "I couldn't save them...not then and not even in my dreams...I'm so weak...pathetic...it should be me...why wasn't it me?"
"Dad," Loona whispered as she tried to say something, but her tiredness was preventing her from saying anything. However, she was soon saved by Stolas, who slowly walked over, knelt down, and placed a comforting hand on Blitzo, who gazed over at him.
"Blitzy, whatever happened was not your fault. You are not a weak imp, you are one of the strongest ones I know, and I know you are strong enough to overcome this darkness inside of you," Stolas whispered as he began to stroke his lover's head. "You will be okay, my little imp. No matter what happens, you will be okay."
Blitzo slowly lost his grip on Loona as Stolas soon took him into his embrace and began to cradle him. The owl demon started humming a soothing tone that echoed in everyone's head. One that was not only soothing, but heartwarming. Loona could recall Octavia telling her that her father used to sing a lullaby whenever she was scared or had a bad dream as a little girl and wondered if this was the same. Whatever it was, it was working because her father's eyelids soon began to droop downward until they were shut tight. Prince Stolas continued to hum until he walked over to the hospital bed and gently placed Blitzo down. Using his magic, he telepathically placed the covers on Blitzo's chest and kissed his forehead. "Sleep tight, my love. You will see me soon."
Doctor Plaquius nodded to one of the nurses, who soon took a needle and injected it into Blitzo's arm. No doubt a sedative to keep him asleep for a few more hours. Once it was done, he motioned for the two to follow him while his nurses started cleaning the room up.
The group went further down the hall for some privacy before Doctor Plaquius turned his attention towards them and cleared his throat. "Thank you. I apologize for summoning you here so late."
"It's okay," Loona said, shaking her head. "Anything for Dad."
"This just isn't working anymore, Prince Stolas," Doctor Plaquius said, turning to the frowning prince. "I know you are paying for him to keep staying in this hospital, but he's becoming a disturbance to the patients here. Not just because of the screaming, but he also picks fights out of nowhere or is causing others with similar issues to go into relapse. We've tried different combinations of drugs, and therapy isn't working either. Even with the expensive specialists that you've personally hired."
"I understand that this is difficult, Doctor Plaquius," Prince Stolas said, shaking his head. "But I'm not giving up on him."
"You may not have a choice," Doctor Plaquius whispered. "I don't know what kind of treatment can cure him. There isn't anything in Hell that I know of that can heal Blitzo's state of mind and soul. Eventually, he's going to find some way to go so far that he'll crack permanently or seek to end his life."
Loona gripped her claws and showed her fangs in anger. "So what you're saying is that this is hopeless?! Well, fuck that! I'm not giving up on Dad no matter what! I don't care whatever it takes!"
Sighing, Doctor Plaquius shook his head. "We'll look into alternative or ancient treatments. Maybe something arcane as well. But nevertheless, if this continues, we're going to have more complaints than we already have because of Blitzo."
He turned away and huffed before making his way down the hall. Loona let out a small angry bark before slamming her fist into the wall, leaving a small dent. "Asshole. Who does he think he is?!"
"He's the best doctor I have that can help Blitzo," Prince Stolas whispered while looking down in sorrow. "But I fear it's not enough."
"Can't you do some magic shit or something on him?!" Loona growled at the prince. "You're one of the most powerful arcane users in Hell! Don't tell me that title is worth jack nothing!"
"It's not that simple, Loona," Stolas said, shaking his head. "Eldritch Magic is only possible by the Eldritch Demons, and they never spill their secrets to other demons despite us being at peace. Besides, even if I did get permission to use it, it would take me years to learn such powerful magic that is completely alien to me in all possible ways. Their methods and ways are completely unknown to even Heaven because they come from outside our dimension."
"What about forcing them to work with us?!" Loona asked desperately.
"Unlikely as well," Stolas muttered. "Most of the powerful Eldritch who we would need to help us care little about us, nor would they ever agree to it. Even the Von Eldritch, the most friendly of their kind, keep their secrets from King Lucifer despite being friends. Not to mention that there's no telling what the Eldritch might want in return or even what their magic will have an effect on Blitzo. Those few who have tried to learn their ways, be it demon, human, or even angel, have all gone mad."
"It cannot be that bad, can it?" Loona asked weakly.
"During the Eldritch-Devil War, there were many terrible beings of such great power that to be even in their gaze was to risk madness. Even the angels, regular and fallen, weren't immune," Stolas whispered in terror. A rare look of fear was seen in his eyes, along with the haunting horror that shadowed his face. "I have personally been alive through that war, and to this day, I still consider it the worst war I have ever seen in my lifetime. Millions of demons went insane or died in horrible conditions, some even taking their own lives. Cults centered around the big named Outer Ones like Cthulhu, Yog-Sothoth, and many more were everywhere. Half of Hell was a pit of madness and decay, with us fighting them every inch of the way with the war affecting even the human world. The only reason we managed to survive was that the armies of Heaven intervened by coming down and fighting us both with their great power. We eventually agreed to a ceasefire with them so they could focus on the Eldritch. They were able to destroy most of the Outer Ones with God himself having to play a role, or so they say. Needless to say, it was a miracle that we managed to achieve a peace treaty in the end, despite all the damage both sides have done to each other."
"I...I've never met an Eldritch before," Loona admitted, rubbing her arms as a cold and shivering feeling went down her spine. "I've heard rumors but...I didn't think they were that bad."
"Believe me, what you see Bitzo suffer from is just a small part of their great power," Prince Stolas said with a heavy sigh. "I suppose we should be glad they mostly keep to the lower levels of Hell. Most of their powerful leaders were wiped out of existence by God's might, but I pray that the few who still live never think about rising up again. Because I have seen their power first hand, and it frightens me, Loona. The fact that Blitzo has some remembrance of sanity is nothing short of a miracle."
"Then...is there really no hope?" Loona whispered.
"...I don't know."

After teleporting back to the palace, Stolas was a bit surprised to find Reginald, dressed in his butler outfit, waiting for them with two warm cups of tea. "Good morning, Sir. The guards told me they saw Ms. Loona run down the halls like her tail was on fire. When I saw that you were not in your room, I decided to make some tea for you when you returned."
"Thank you, Reginald," Stolas said as he took a warm cup of herbal tea and took a heavy sip. "Loona, you want some?"
"No, I gotta get back to bed for work tomorrow," Loona said, yawning as she made for the door. "Gonna need my laundry done again, Reginald."
"By any chance, are your dirty clothes in the hamper this time and not on the floor?" Reginald asked, raising an eyebrow.
"What do you think, Old Man?" Loona snorted before slamming the door behind her.
Sighing, Reginald rolled his eyes. "It wouldn't kill her to be just a bit more courteous. Especially since she's been a guest here for the past six months."
"Considering all the things Blitzo and Octavia tell me Loona normally does, she is on her best behavior," Stolas said with a small smile before taking another sip. Sighing, he sat down on his bed with his tea and shook his head. "This can't go on anymore, Reginald."
"Sir..."
"I curse Stella and all of her family for what they have done to us," Stolas growled, his eyes glowing red at the thought of his ex-wife and her now-deceased mother and brother. Never before had he felt such satisfaction as seeing their corpses before him, even if someone else had killed Natasha. Some days he still wondered if it would have been better to end his wife's life rather than force her to live with the guilt of her crime for the rest of her days, but he knew it would only cause more stress on Octavia.
"Speaking of which," Reginald said, clearing his voice. "I was going to tell you this in the morning, but I figured I might as well tell you now. The spies still report that Stella's routine is still the same."
"Nothing has changed?" Stolas asked, narrowing his eyes.
"Nothing."
"...I still don't get it," Stolas whispered, rubbing his chin. "Why would she sell off all that she owns and go to the Hazbin Hotel? What game is she playing?" Reginald didn't answer, so he shook his head and waved his hand. "Keep having her watched. Remember, Octavia is not to know anything about her moth- that woman ."
"Of course, Sir," Reginald said, bowing. "However, I think you forget that there is a way you can help Mr. Blitz."
Closing his eyes, Stolas felt his heart nearly stop upon thinking it. He knew what Reginald was talking about, and it was the decision he had been wrestling with for the past six months. There was only one method of which could save his beloved imp. A means not found in Hell or Earth but found elsewhere. A place he was all but forbidden to enter and yet could establish contact with the means he had.
However, the problem was not just getting it but offering something in return. There was only one thing Stolas could offer, but in doing so, he would forever damn himself and his family to a fate from which there was no going back. One that would see him executed in the worst possible way should it be found out by anyone in Hell. It was a risky move, but one that could save Blitzo if he played his cards right. He had talked to all his servants, guards, and legions about this plan and what it would entitle. What they would be forced to do if he managed to achieve this and the executioner's blade that would forever be hung over their heads should it be known.
One by one, they all re-swore their allegiance to him and his family to whatever end there might be. It warmed his heart to know that those under his command were willing to risk so much for him. They were like family to him, and he would not fail them if he could.
There was just one other person who needed to say 'yes,' which was the most complicated person of all: his daughter, Octavia. She was everything to Stolas and the one good thing out of his marriage with Stella. With her gone and forbidden to ever see them again, they were the only true family they had left in each other. It was hard enough for Octavia to go through what had happened to their family these past six months, but Loona had become more than just a friend ever since. The two were like sisters and cared for each other as such. He had no doubt that Octavia would want to do whatever it took to help her sister's father, but Stolas still wanted her to know every possible risk and danger that came with it.
If she said no or had the slightest doubt, the Stolas would not go through with the plan. Even if it means losing Blitzo...
"I'll speak to her about it soon," Stolas said as he finished his tea and handed the cup over to his head butler. "For now, I think I should get back to bed."
"Very well. Goodnight, Your Majesty," Reginald said, bowing before taking his leave.
Stolas sighed as he walked over to the outside balcony of his room and saw that the hellish pentagram moon of Hell was half full with the stars twinkling above. Yet, none of these interested him. What did was the planet so far away, pure white and with a shiny glowing halo around it—the place where his cure for Blitzo lay.
Heaven.
