The Ministry's Involvement

Hello I'm back. I did upload an edit to Headmaster's Secret the last chapter, so check that out before reading this.

Second warning, read the last chapter before this one

Severus trusted Kingsley to keep his word. Sure enough, a week later, he was back in the Headmaster's office with Kingsley and Mr. Eldridge. Mr. Eldridge didn't look at all pleased that Severus was back.

"Professor Snape, I'm told that the Minister has stepped in to reinstate you as Headmaster. I'm here to give warnings to keep things professional," Mr. Eldridge stated with a huff.

Severus stood with his arms crossed, glaring at the man. "Of course," he said in the most obvious voice. Mr .Eldgridge looked at him for a long moment but said nothing in return.

Kingsley watched Mr. Eldridge write on his pad several times muttering to himself. He glanced at Severus who looked as if he was about to curse the man. Severus just wanted to get back to work and speak to Albus about the 'prophecy'. He didn't know if Kingsley dove into the whole thing or not with Eldridge though. Truthfully, he hadn't even told Severus about what he's found out yet.

After several more achingly slow minutes, Mr. Eldridge nodded to himself. "Okay," he sighed, turning to look at Severus with a blank expression, "Good day, Professor."

He dipped his head then disappeared in the floo. Kingsley cleared his throat as Severus rubbed his hands over his face. "So, I spoke with some known Seers. They fully believe that it is indeed a prophecy. What about, they do not know."

Severus nodded. "What did the Board say when you reinstated me?"

"They were weary of my decision, but as Minister didn't object. They trust me to make informed decisions for the greater good." Kingsley walked over to the pensive cabinet and looked at the picture that he kept there of Lily. "She would be very happy for you, Severus," he stated.

Severus didn't respond. He knew that she would be happy that he's found someone. Even if it was a younger woman. "She would have loved Hermione," Severus said softly. If Lily had survived and raised Harry herself, she would have adored Hermione dearly.

When someone knocked on the door, Severus cleared his throat and called for them to enter. It was Hermione. She peeked in curiously and seemed surprised that Severus was here. "Kingsley? Professor?" She looked curiously at both men as she stepped further into the room.

Kingsley smiled at her warmly. "Hermione. It's good to see you. I've asked Minerva to call you here for a few reasons. First, if you haven't guessed yet, Severus has been reinstated as Headmaster. The reason for this is because of a letter that was sent to him last week." Severus handed the letter to her so she could study it. She furrowed her brows as she read it.

"This sounds like a prophecy," she said as she looked up at Kingsley and Severus in turn.

They nodded. "Yes, he came to me last week and showed me this letter. I consulted several highly recommended Seers and they all think that it is a prophecy about you and Severus. No one has figured out yet. The second reason is because the Board had to be known of the prophecy to some extent. They were told the bare minimum to minimize the public knowing."

Hermione walked around the room as she listened to Kingsley. Her back had started hurting earlier and hadn't stopped yet. Her pregnancy was coming along well, being five whole months pregnant. She was starting to show a little more than Severus thought she would start, but school was ending in around another month, so she just had to keep things secret for another month. It also helped that final exams were fast approaching, forcing the students to focus more on their studies than gossip.

"Thirdly, while the Board wasn't happy that you both deceived them, they overlooked that fact as soon as they found out that you were pregnant Hermione. They are very angry with you Severus for not controlling yourself around a young woman. They do want you both to stay away from each other until after school ends." Kingsley pointed to each in turn as he spoke. Severus raised an eyebrow to the man.

"That will be very impossible since we need to start going over the last step in the program and prepare for the Ceremony at the end of the year," Severus pointed out bluntly.

Kingsley nodded. "I understand, its next to impossible to keep away for those reasons. My advice is to be careful and keep things professional," Kingsley warned.

Hermione paced the room, deep in thought. Severus could tell something was bothering her. "What's wrong Hermoine?"

At first, Severus didn't think she heard him. Then she turned abruptly. "In the paper this morning there was an article that stated blood purity is at an all time high. Purebloods are hosting 'pure parties' where they ask for the guests pureblood name and if you aren't pure enough you get tossed out."

Severus raised an eyebrow. "Really? After everything the Dark Lord put the magical world through?"

Hermione shrugged. "Some pure bloods thought that he was right, just didn't want to admit their allegiance to such a bad man."

Kingsley shook his head in disbelief. "I haven't been in the office in a day, so that article is probably sitting on my desk with several letters from various departments." He sighed. "I'd better go. I will keep you informed if I hear anything else."

He left with one final nod as he disappeared in the floo as well. Hermione was standing by the desk, staring at Severus as if she didn't believe that he was back. He walked over to her and smiled warmly at her. He hadn't seen her in almost two months. The last time he saw her stomach, it was still flat with a minimal bump. The bump was noticeable to anyone that actually knew she was pregnant or that's had a child in the past.

"It's hard to believe that I'm seeing you again. I honestly thought that I wouldn't see or talk to you for several more months," he said softly, almost whispering.

She took hold of his hands and gently kissed them with a warm smile. "It's been hard to deal with things around here without you. Especially the new Potions professor."

He knew she respected all teachers, so her face as she spoke briefly of the substitute teacher was shocking to Severus. "What wrong with them?"

Hermione huffed angrily. "She's a terrible teacher. Every single potion that I've graded as a teacher in classes that I've taught all year since you left, if its not at least a E, she gives them an E. I tried to tell her that's not how some of the students learn, but she said that she's the teacher and I'm techinally just a student that used her body to weasel a teaching program in."

Severus was shocked that the Professor said that. He automatically went into Headmaster mode. "Follow me," he said briefly as he headed for the door. His cape billowed out behind him as he walked tall with Hermione slightly running to keep up with him. He was now on a mission. Firstly, this substitute insulted Hermione, which was, as her boyfriend, was a no-no; as a teacher, was an even bigger no-no. Second, she was passing all students, which went against the entire purpose of a teacher.

He passed several students who looked terrified as he passed. Possibly because he's back, secondly the look on his face. Determined. He reached the potions classroom where he knew a class was about to start. He burst in the door, much like his entrance eight years ago at Hermione's first ever potions lesson. Students cowered as he passed them and went to the front of the room.

The teacher was at the front writing on the board by hand. Severus mentally was laughing at her. She turned when the door crashed open with a shocked look on her face. Her olive skin really clashed with her orange robes she decided to wear. "Miss Granger, who is this and why is he interrupting my class?" Her tone was appalling and very disrespectful to a student.

"I am the Headmaster of this school. My name is Severus Snape, as if you didn't know. I would like to speak to you out in the hallway." He turned and didn't give the woman a chance to speak. He halted at the door when he heard her scoffing.

"Sir, I have a class at the moment," she smiled in a very Umbridge way. It made him hate her even more.

Severus raised an eyebrow menacingly. "Miss Granger can teach the class while we speak. She is, after all, the brightest witch of her age and at the age of 12 brewed a perfect polyjuice potion." Hermione went to the board to look at the potion that was half finished.

She started to erase several mistakes that Severus already could see in the first half of the potion and silently thanked her. The teacher went to tell off Hermione, but Severus called out to her. "Now, Professor!"
